I hired Jose based on the previous two reviews. I needed a tree removed from my back yard. His quote was relatively lower than the other one I had and he seemed like an honest guy. Also had him trim some other smaller trees in my backyard. He did a bang of a job. At first the trimming was not as I wanted it (my fault, didn't really tell him), but he fixed it as needed. I paid exactly what we agreed (plus tip).
On asking him for a recommendation for a plumber, he said that he did work with outside garden plumbing (which is what I needed). He took a look at a leak I had and gave me a reasonable quote on the spot; much different than a plumber I had come earlier who wouldn't even open my deck to look at the issue without charging me.
Jose had to break up some of my brick patio, and ended up not installing the right color bricks (he couldn't find the right matching color), but I happened to have some in my garage, so he broke the bricks again and installed mine. All this for the original negotiated price (plus tip).
Summary: the guy is honest, reasonably priced (if not cheap) and does a good job. -

I would give a '0' if the review system allows it. This Jose's Landscaping is a scam business. Mr. Jose came to give me an estimate in May, 2011 and asked his son to start the 'gardening' work for me. The son never showed up to work since the end of July, 2011. I tried to call the father at 650-222-7945 many times and all I got was a static sound of his phone line. Finally I hired a new gardener to do the work in August, 2011. I thought that was really unprofessional of them to stop the service without any notice.
I was in shock when I received the bill in November saying that I owed them 3 months of service for September, October, and November, 2011. They stopped my gardening service since the end of July without any notice. And yet, they dare to send me an invoice to collect money for the service that they never rendered. What a scam! I sent them a letter explaining I hired a new gardener because they did not show up for work since August, and I do not owe them anything.
I just received another invoice today and this time they added one more month of service charge to the previous invoice. These people have no decency to keep sending people fraudulent invoice. Beware of this scam! They are dishonest and shameless! -

Jose Barajas and his gang of six cabaleros!
My neighbor recommended Jose to me when I saw her landscape done a few years back.
Negotiate! Jose is flexible as he is kind. Since 2003 to the present , I had Jose put in a new lawn and water sprinkler system (which he still maintains), a brick trim on the garden and patio ( and part of the driveway), two fences, new plants and box hedges in the front and back of my home, I worked out a flat fee for mowing the lawn twice a month. Jose's men fertilizes your plants/lawns at least five times a year. Whatever you want done, Jose and his crew does it fast, clean and effeciently. -

I recently had the 5th break in the sprinkler system repaired. Jose's legacy lives on!
On the basis of previous reviews, I went with Jose Barajas for a major landscaping project at my home. I was very disappointed with his work. The chronic problems with the sprinkler system he installed, incomplete tasks and incredibly high charges ultimately convinced me I had gone with the wrong person. (Somewhere between the previous reviews and the work he did for me, the quality had dropped significantly.) While he appears to be knowledgeable in a few areas, I would caution anyone considering his services. -

Great gardner, great landscaper, knowledgable and cheap.
Did quite a bit of work for me planting, drip system, pruning, etc. Going to start hardscape work soon. He's been great.
The only thing I suggest is that you spell out exactly what you want for the price he quotes. Add ons will eh add up!
