I had my 28th bday celebration at Jone's Bar. They sat a party of 16 in the cafe, at a row of "booth seat on one side, chair on the other" tables . It was a perfect choice for a birthday dinner and they only required a $15 food order per person minimum for our large party (this included tax, and they were pretty loose about it)

    Food:
Lots of us had pizza but a few friends had a salad & regular entrees. The pizzas were wonderful. Definitely large enough for 2 people. Even better if split 3 ways and supplemented by an appetizer or salad per person. I had the Margarita, my friend had the "Quatro Formaggi". Both were very tasty. Not the best margarita I've ever had, but the crust alone makes me want to go back to have it again.. It held up to the toppings and cheese and has that perfect crunch with each bite (not a fan of those pizzas that are soft and soggy in the middle).

Steak and Grilled artichoke salad - I wouldn't want to eat this as a meal alone (unless I wasn't that hungry) but it was a delicious salad to try along with my pizza. The Parmesan, grilled artichokes and steak  were a trifecta and made each bite flavorful. The 2 girls that ordered this were only too happy to share with me in exchange for a pizza slice.

    Atmosphere:
While perusing yelp for a birthday dinner venue, I didn't understand what people meant when they said "we sat in the cafe". Here's some clarity: (Based on what I saw of the restaurant) There are two main sections: 1) A VERY dark, intimate, bar/booth seating section. perfect for double dates, and other foursomes or less and 2) the "cafe", a more well lit, but still dim with "romantic" lighting, area with white and red checkered table cloths and a more Lady-and-the-Tramp-Italian feel. It can also accommodate larger parties. I thought the cafe might be somehow less aesthetically enjoyable but they're both great. Just different.

    Overall:
This was our first stop for my birthday celebration. afterwards we went to a lounge for drinks. I was anxiously watching the clock b/c, though I tried to time it right, we were running behind.  Our waitress took drink orders first and then food orders 10 minutes later.. and, like a bad The Office episode, I watched as my friends asked "what do you recommend? x or y?"... "oh you know they're so different x is light and y is" JUST TAKE THE DAMN ORDER!!!!... (stress case much?) I calmed down.. The food came out wicked fast after we ordered (15 minutes?) and after we finished, despite my objections, the waitress brought out a dessert with a candle in it for my birthday and then rushed us the checks as soon as she found out we were trying to be somewhere else. She was considerate and attentive and I appreciated it.

As I said, it was my birthday and I dont know how much the bill came out to be b/c no one let me pay so I think I might be a little biased (great ambiance, great food, for free), But this hip Italian restaurant is definitely worth a visit. $5 Valet makes it even better.

I always have a great time here, the food hits the spot and the drinks are all pretty tasty too.

They usually get pretty busy on Friday and Saturday's, but that is normal.

    Good desserts too!

I just can't get enough of this place, holy shit.

Just ask my wallet. "Hey Justin's checking account, does Justin enjoy himself at Jone's Bar?"

Checking Account: "Hmmm lets see. All I can tell you is I'm constantly giving up the green to Jones Bar so I'ma say yea, he digs it."

For real. Cocktails: amazingly delicious. Food: spot on, especially if you've been partaking in the aforementioned cocktails. Ambiance: swagger, everywhere.

Owned by the same people that run Lubitsch down the street, it's a dope go to spot. Pricey but that's standard with this area, can't hate. It can get busy so don't show up and bitch if there are no tables, maybe you should get there earlier. I've been extremely lucky in that no matter the day or time I seem to get the last table, well extremely lucky for my drinking, not so lucky for my wallet (thanks $11 cocktails!)

A little Hollywood vibe without being so pretentious you want to vomit, pretty solid Italian food, wine, good drinks, women that define "easy on the eyes". Sign me up for that package, every day of the week.

A lot of tasty things on the menu, however, not really a Gluten Free friendly spot.  But luckily, the beet salad and the ahi tuna panini (hold the bread) are very tasty, so I will be back again and again at lunchtime.

The restaurant was great until we left to get the car.

The rating is not for the restaurant but for the valet they hired.

On 1/20 my friends and I left the place to get our car. We got the car and tipped the valet an addition $5. But we noticed that a camera was missing in the car.  We searched all over the car and nothing.

I even went to where the car was parked just in case fell out.  Nothing.

The two valet even "helped" us searched.  Nothing.

There was a police car that went by and one of our friends flagged it down.

The rest of us continue to look.  The valet went and looked underneath the driver seat and all of a sudden the camera appeared.

What kind of shady shit is this?  This is not cool.

BAMF. That's what this place makes me feel like. Big time. I felt cool, I felt sexy, I felt like looking at naked pictures in the bathroom (oh yeah that's real). There's nothing like this place. I was groovin' sexy.

While sippin on my Janis Joplin inspired beverage (vanilla vodka and apple pie crust: love) I partook of the famed spaghetti and meatballs. Honestly, Italian is my least favorite cuisine and I'm not big on pasta and I never order spaghetti because I like my own so much but this was still good. It wasn't amazing but it was for sure good in my belly and a perfect portion size. The bread that they bring to the table first makes for great sopping action. Our waitress was super cute, and attentive. I thought about slipping her my number. oh yeah ladies.

Mom insisted we check out the dessert menu even though I told her we weren't interested. As we skimmed the list the table next to us was brought that amazing delight of an apple pie Jones has (it's definitely big enough for two). We were 'oohing' and 'aahing' at the goodness of it and the man told us it was one of his favorite desserts in the world. That he ordered it every time and it was amazing. He kept telling us how important it was for us to have it but we told him we had dessert planned elsewhere. He was astonished and rather than let this pass he grabbed an extra plate and spooned 1/3 of his onto it and shared. This apple pie was made by the gods. hot damn it was so good!!

With the incredible list of cocktails and this jesus apple pie I know that I'll be a BAMF at this Italian bar sometime soon. Though I may be skipping the entree part, this place is still kick ass. Legit.

Four instead of five stars because the lighting was really low.  That's just not my cup of tea.  It's very frustrating to me when I have to pull the menu up to my nose to read it.

Ambiance is so supah cool that it would outdo Samuel L Jackson on any given day.  Love the whiskey soaked, deep red rich velvety dimmed feel of this place.

If you're coming here to dine, definitely make reservations because this place gets full within a blink of an eye and preference goes to those with reservations.

The bar area has a cylindrical plush seating / standing area that is very accomodating.

The food is mainly Italian fare with napolitano thin or neopolitan style pizzas, antipasto salads, etc.  Had a great margherita pizza and steamed artichokes here with excellent service that wasn't pushy.  Prices are about average.

Hahahah, check out the pics in the ladies room.  And no, I won't be hiking up my skirt or flashing my boobs for infamy by gracing the bathroom walls of Jones.

Definitely one of my favorite places to hang for drinks and grub.

The best part of Jones Bar? The pizza. It was so, so good.

My friend and I headed here after grabbing a few drinks at Palihouse, and instead of hanging out at the bar with a million dark-haired hipsters, we sat down because we were hungry. I promise, the pizza was absurdly, surprisingly delicious. And not because it was 2 AM. I would equally rave about this place on any other given day! I'd come back for the pizza alone, period. Oh, but besides that, Jones Bar is your typical plaid shirt, tight jeans, beanie type joint. Much more upscale than your typical dive bar (partially because it's also a restaurant) but I hear it's a happening place.

Damn I didn't try their food and I heard their mac and cheese is delicious.

Well, bartender wise they seem pretty chill and were pretty quick at taking the drink orders.

The layout is weird and strategically makes the place feel packed even though there is plenty of wasted space with all of the tables. The layout also makes it pretty loud, if that's not your thing then stay away, it's a bar it's to be expected.

Brownie points as this place was on an episode of Modern Family. Season 1 if you want to know.

I love the arugula salad, the pizza, the chicken, the salumi plate and the fortune cookies that come with your check. I love the ambiance, the decor, the service and the bathroom collages. I love the cocktails, the music, the location and the multiple personalities that merge the American midwest with Italian food and Asian subtleties, all under one roof. It is one of the few local bars that seamlessly transitions from superior lunch and dinner spot to super trendy Hollywood bar, and has done so for literally years. Way to go, Jones!

What can I say? I love this place. The only thing that really bothers me is that they don't open until 7 PM on Saturdays. Doh!

P.S. If given a choice, choose the "dark side"!

I must admit, I was a little skeptical when I first saw Jones "Bar" but after walking through the door and seeing the atmosphere of the place I was impressed! The food was absolutely AMAZING!! We started off with the spinach and ricotta ravioli with cream pesto sauce! Once again AMAZING. Then for the entree' we got the spaghetti and meatball and the margarita pizza. And for dessert we indulged in the apple pie! I'm going to say that this was the best tasting apple pie I've ever had!!!

So it is hard to find a place to eat after 11pm in LA.... I know everyone says to go to Bossa Nova, but I really could care less for that place..... JONES on the other hand is very cool.  I ordered the Artichoke which is served with two types of aoli, I also had the caprese salad great mozzarella Buffala which is very uncommon for a caprese salad.  and then I had the Salumi plate.  Everything came out very quickly, our server was good.  she was attentive and expedited everything quickly.   she could have smiled a little bit more, seemed like she was annoyed but regardless she still took good care of us.  we can all have an off night though.  I will definitely remember this place for late night eats.   Best of all this Italian restaurant finishes your meal with a fortune cookie. Got to love that!

The decor was very cool, has a kind of classic feel and really adds to the ambience.  Also the bathroom is filled with photos from what looks like parties that they had at Jones Bar, very funny and amusing to say the least.

All in all I was impressed with Jones and look forward to my future visits.

Valet is $5 which is always way easier than having to find parking or worry about getting a ticket.  I am sure you could find parking around but I just hate the hassel.

    reviewing for food during lunch:

bar-lounge-italian restaurant. the waiter asks, do you want to sit on the light side or the dark side? light side of Jones looks like a typical casual italian restaurant: white walls with mirrors, small tables with red checkered table clothes. dark side is where the bar is: think cigar-steakhouse-old school mafia style dining with mainly booths, which is a really nice touch.

street parking available during the day on formosa, otherwise it's valet at night.

came here for lunch, heard the spaghetti and meatballs were good so we tried it.

i gotta say, it's not mind-blowing but if you're looking for homestyle no frills comfort spag and meatballs, this is it. hearty meat sauce with 2 large meatballs. good enough to leave that attractive orange ring around your mouth.

i got the pizza as well. this is not an upscale pizzeria like Mozza. the crust was a little crisp but mostly chewy like NY style. the overall feel of this place was comfort italian food that you'd get at a mom n pop joint.

i hear at night it's poppin. looks like a cool place to check out for drinks.

oh and my god, get the apple pie. 5 stars for this!!
its served sizzling! a rustic slice of crusty apple pie sits in a pool of bubbling brown sugar butter glaze. the vanilla ice cream is in a seperate bowl so it wont melt right away (this way you can enjoy hot and cold, not just melted ice cream).

Came here for the first time a couple of nights ago for a delightful evening with friends. What a sexy looking place! And it delivers even sexier cocktails. (The Joplin tastes like Strawberry Shortcake. Pretty sure they rim the glass with strawberry flavored crack. Delicious.) They make thin crust crispy pizza here. Although not usually a fan of thin crust, I gotta say, I was pleasantly surprised: it's perfection. Looking forward to the famous apple pie on my next visit. See you next time Jones!

This is a hole in the wall place.

Jones cafe doesnt get much better, they have amazing customer service as well as a lowkey scene. My girlfriend and i came here for dessert after formosa cafe and it was seriously worth it. Although its advocated as a bar at night, they also serve food until 1:30am. We came here and we saw the warm apple pie for two. Warning you it might just be the best you have ever had. This apple pie comes on a hot plate, with vanilla ice cream and of course the enormous piece of pie.

We sat at the bar and admired the actual place, they had a really good sitting and stand areas to converse  with other patrons. They are geared for success and if you have not been here you are missing out... i know i was

Stopped in Jones last Thursday for an early 6PM dinner before hitting the Kodak for a 8PM show. This was the first time I've sat in the cafe side at Jones. The cafe is much different than the bar side; which I was used to.  The cafe is small and intimate, a very cozy place for a date night.

We split an awesome oven-baked pizza and of course finished the visit with apple pie a la mode. As always the food was awesome and not too pricey. However, the only thing keeping this place from 5-star quality is the help. The cafe wasn't crowded but our server was slow and extremely forgetful (never got red pepper or parmesan for our pizza and my date barely survived dehydration).

It's still worth the visit, just know your server is likely to make it a roll-the-dice kind of night.

We just stopped in for some drinks and dessert (we had dinner down the street at Salt's Cure).  The apple pie was apparently amazing, and my raspberry sorbet was quite good as well.

They have an extensive selection of mixed drinks as well.  The bar was EXTREMELY crowded on a Friday night after 10pm and the layout is not conducive to that many people (due to all the actual dinner seating).  Luckily they let us take a table (and we promised to order some dessert!).

Not a place I would go back to on a Fri/Sat night just for drinks, but the pizzas looked pretty awesome so I would like to stop back in, grab a table, and get actual dinner this time!

Love the food.  Love the vibe - Italian Restaurant adorned with photos of a Hollywood past... a wild past.  The pizza is awesome and they serve food pretty late which gets them big bonus points!  Unforrtunately, I have never been wowed by the crowd at the bar here.  In fact, I've found them to be rude on more than one occassion.  My friends, on the other hand have had great experiences mingling here.  So I guess it just depends on the day.  Jones is still a good ace in your pocket for late night eats and atmosphere.

    Ah, I love this place.

I go here with workmates a lot, and it's really our go-to lunch spot.

Decidedly unique and old school, it always manages to hit the spot with classic flavor and style. The food is very, very solid, too. We have not had a disappointing dish in over thirty visits so far.

The staff are wonderful, service is quick, and the drinks are stiff.

Matter of fact, I think we're headed there again right now...

Quick tip: try the mojito and you won't be disappointed.

I dined here on a Sunday night and judging by previous reviews, Sunday might be a good night to come.  It wasn't too crowded and the service was near perfect.  Our server only forgot the bread.  I didn't even notice the staff during my whole experience which was excellent.  I don't want to think about if they're taking too long or if they're really fast.. I only wanted to enjoy the company I was with which is exactly what I did.  Our waters were always unnoticeably refilled.. Yay.  I had the Carbonara.. prosciutto goodness mmm!  My din din partner had the sausage pizza.. Also yum considering I'm not a sausage fan.  Our cocktails were delicious as well and by delicious I mean strong!  Better be at $11.50 per glass.  Short glass I might add.

One last note.. Jones bar waitress, when you say "that's hilarious" to a joke and not laugh, you're just telling me that 1) you're not listening to us which comes across like we're wasting your time 2) you hate your job and are trying to humor us which is condescending or 3) you have no sense of humor.  If it was so "hilarious" why did you not laugh!?  Not cool, lady.  You didn't have to say it was hilarious.  You did provide me and my date with a laugh though.

Overall, lovely experience.  I'll be back!

    * Moderately high douchebag factor, with boys neglecting their poor dates to rooster about with name-dropping one-upmanship.

What a wonderful surprise.  The grilled dill salmon was amazing.  Seriously some of the best salmon I've had.  It was grilled to perfection, and absolutely moist and delicious.  The brushetta was crisp with just the right amount of garlic. The asparagus was crisp tender.  The apple pie was sweet with carmelized sugar which added that special little crunch.  I'll definitely go again.

Jones used to be one of my nocturnal haunts in my first LA year, yet has preserved as one of my all time favorite places to eat. (I've had more than one birthday dinner here, so you KNOW I mean it.)

First of all, the focaccia bread they give you to start with is awesome. Warm, crusty, and perfect with the flavored olive oil on the table. Get the artichoke as an appetizer and you'll find it's cooked to perfection, and you can enjoy your bread with its dipping sauces, too. If you come with a friend, split one of the salads (I really like the beet salad, or the artichoke-steak one) and a pizza (cannot get over the spicy sausage, with its onions and savory meat treats). If you come in the evening, try one of the schmansy cocktails, or just stick with a Peroni, as everyone knows it's the world's most perfect beer for drinking with pizza. Alternatively, try the spaghetti and meatballs, which, I must confess, is the best spaghetti and meatballs I have maybe EVER had.

Of course the REAL reason to go to Jones is for the apple pie. GOOD Lord. No matter how full I am, I MUST get the apple pie to split with whomever will help. It comes on a skillet with caramelized sugar all around its molten hot apple core, and a seperate little dish of vanilla ice cream is kept cool so you can create the perfect bites. The apple slices are large and perfectly cooked, not too mushy, but not too crunchy, the crust is enviably flaky, more like more a turnover than a pie, really miraculous for those of us who've attempted pie crust success and failed, and the sauce with the ice cream is just the crowning glory. It's sure to send you into foodcomaland, but you'll have such sweet, apple-filled dreams.

A wee bit expensive (especially in the beverage dept.) but a perfect place to take a date or celebrate something nice. Come at night and sit in the ambiance-filled cavelike interior!

Jones is my go to restaurant in the Hollywood area for dinner when I don't want to take a chance with a new place. Food is consistently good. I love the pan roasted chicken. Perfectly moist with the right amount of garlic on a delicious cream sauce with vegetable risotto.

    Holy amazeballs!

Jones gives you a little bit of everything and I happily took it all in.

    Rock and roll music
    Dimly lit dining
    Kick ass classic Italian food
    Late night eats
    GREAT service
    Bomb dot com apple pie
    Fortune cookies with your bill

I read a review for Jone's from Yelp friend Maria T. almost over a year ago. It has always been on the top of my list but whatever reason I was having a hard time getting there. And boy I am kicking myself in the ass for not getting there sooner. I moaned and oooed and ahhed with every bite. Maria said it perfect in her review, " I'll now be regularly "jonesing" for Jones".

We came for the spaghetti and meatballs and apple pie of course. But their menu had a world of wonderful Italian eats I wanted to try. Helllooo Carbonara made with rigatoni?! I'm so all over that next time.

We decided to start off with the Spinach and Cheese Ravioli that was served tossed in a pesto sauce. So good we both said we could have ate another order of those easily. The pesto sauce was incredible and with plenty of left over sauce the perfect thing to do was to sop it all up with their bread. Sauce like that should never go to waste.

    Spaghetti and Meatball time!
FOODGASM! This dish lived up to my high expectations. It quite possibly, maybe is the best spaghetti dish I have had. Serving it in it's own skillet was the sauce on my balls! I ooed and ahhed and could have easily finished the dish but I didn't bc I wanted apple pie. I gotta say that not finishing it was the best thing I ever did as it made for killer leftovers one day later.

Apple Pie, this ain't your grandmas apple pie. Or your mommas either. I am not an apple pie fan for one but this is the creme de la creme of apple pies. Thick warm tender cinnamony apples in the most delicious crust ever. The interesting crackly cookie crust on top I could just not get enough of. This was pure delight. The perfect way to finish any meal.

I have not been to a place in awhile where my high expectations of what I wanted actually was delivered. I wish I would have gotten there sooner bc it was so great but waiting made it more worth it I think. You bet your ass I will be back. And if you're like hey CG wanna go eat? Get ready for me to say, Let's go to Jones.

I've visited Jones many a evening but have never taken advantage of their stellar Italian menu, so thanks to Yelp LA's All Starr Rum Cocktail Challenge (http://www.yelp.com/ev...), I was given an excuse to do just that (while imbibing in the Physical Graffiti, naturally). It was easy to make a same-day reservation on a Saturday evening around 7pmish and ET was a hoot when making the reservation. Clearly being genuine, funny, and friendly is something that runs rampant at Jones, and most likely one reason they've been around for so long.

We called a few times to change the number in our party and each time the receiver of said call was accommodating and un-annoyed at our incessant indecisiveness. We of course showed up late, but they had a table ready for us and were all smiles. The booth was a bit snug so thankfully there were only three of us, but it added to the rather intimate setting that Jones has created. It's dark, sexy, and very Italian. I'm sure there's some business going down in those booths that has nothing to do with an agent's percentage. The crowd seemed really eclectic, but since we weren't posted up at the bar, this experience was more about the food.

We shared a pizza, pasta dish, and caprese salad. It was just enough to prepare us for a night of drinking, but I don't think this could easily satisfy a group of foodies, so I recommend getting your own dish if you're a real hungry hippo. The caprese was fresh and colorful, the pizza was thin, crisp and topped with quality ingredients, and the pasta was simple, yet deliciously sauced. Everything came out just the way we expected and in a timely fashion.

We then splurged for dessert since there was a birthday to celebrate. The apple pie came with a candle and was every bit as sinful and dessert-y as one would hope.

The Physical Graffiti ($8 instead of $12 for the promotion) includes splashes of Canton ginger liquor and muddled fresh strawberries so I was easily impressed and fast to order another after quickly slurping up my first! It's a solid beverage and there's something about ginger (in liquid form) that just makes me happy!

Always have a good time here whether just getting drinks at the bar or having a special dinner in the restaurant. It's definitely not a Mozza or an Ago but the food is always good, portions are generous and prices are decent. Love the red & wood interior. Very Hollywood-ish

I'll try and make this short and sweet.  TERRIBLE FOR DINNER.  I assume getting some drinks there would be alright, but for dinner, jesus christ, it's 7:30 and the music is WAY too loud to hold a conversation.

The waitress we had MUST have been either brain dead or a crack baby because it took her 20 minutes to bring us our drinks and we JUST got a bottle of wine!  We got double orders of bread and water because there was ZERO communication with the runners/bus staff.

It took us about 50 minutes to get our food... The reason why it didn't get 1 star is because the food was pretty decent but I'll take shitty service with okay food rather than the other way around.

I won't go back... Too hollywood, too stupid, and too loud for me.

Cool on the inside w/ great food. We had the minestrone soup and veggie pizza. Both were quite good.

The inside is very hip and happening, as are the patrons.

If I had some friends in town that wanted to go to a cool place I'd take them here, but I probably wouldn't go again on my own. Its too loud(maybe I'm getting old). I would grab a pizza to go,though.

Service was slow, but probably because it was super busy. But from what I understand this place is always busy so they could have been better prepared.

I LOVE JONES. Unfortunately, I haven't tried their alcoholic beverages or their dinner menu...I only come in fairly regularly for lunch. I always either get a panini (can't really go wrong with those), and I definitely ALWAYS get sauteed spinach. YUMS!

The people are always happy and friendly. The restaurant's decor is small, but comfortable...very soothing ambiance. I'm definitely going to try coming here at night though...my boss tells me the apple pie is amazing too!

Hopefully dining in is also a great experience. I've always just ordered pick up for my food.

I love this place because its classic LA Rocker Joint-
This place is rock- trashy- shiek-

I Can just imagine that Rock Stars such as the Stones and Motley Crew- kicked it here in their hay day!

Now enough about the vibe- The FOOD IS RAD

The item I lust for without fail- is the hanger steak salad a top arugula , and shaved Parmesan.

The bread they bring out is always warm and fresh from the oven- it tastes like pizza bread made in house-

Their desserts are all tasty- my fave is the home apple pie!
