I flew into SF this morning, hopped on the Muni and got off at Ocean to go here for lunch with my sister. I really enjoy the HK style cafes down south in Rowland Heights/San Gabriel so I was looking forward to some delicious, cheap food. Jojo's doesn't disappoint. We had the salt-and-pepper chicken wings, seafood and bean curd over rice, and beef chow fun. I ordered an iced milk tea, which came out quickly after our orders were taken, along with a complimentary soup of shredded pork and veggies in a clear broth. Just minutes later, all of our food came out one by one. Damn are they fast here! Which is good 'cause I hear it's usually crowded with CCSF students, and a quick turnover is definitely key.
Free soup: Bland, but it was free so whatever
Chicken wings: Hot and crispy, not too flavorful. Be sure to eat it covered with the green onions and minced garlic
Seafood and bean curd w/ steamed rice: Good. It had shrimp, squid, and scallops with diced ginger, carrots, and mushrooms. Lots of soft tofu, mm! Could've used more color (yeah I know I'm weird) they should toss in some broccoli or snow peas!
Beef chow fun: Delicious! Lots of sliced beef and bean sprouts. FYI, they have two kinds, this one and another version with vegetables. This is the dry one, the one with vegetables is in a gravy sauce.
Milk tea (my only vice it seems like): Pretty good. Not too sweet, I could taste the tea, which is a must.
All in all, I really enjoyed my food and the service was friendly and FAST. The funniest thing was, we paid with a $2 bill and my sister noticed the ladies behind the counter holding it up to the light and talking quietly to each other as to whether it was real or not, haha!
I came here for a late lunch after the first day of class. It was close to 3pm. We got a booth and ordered. Funny how one page is full of American food and the others are Chinese.
I ordered the egg foo yung with ham and my friend ordered a grill cheese i believe.
I really like egg and ham so I thought it would be really good but when it came out it didn't look appetizing at all and it wasn't. The egg was cooked with bean sprouts. It comes with soup which wasn't too bad.
My friend's grilled sandwich came with fries which wasn't that good.
Cheap though.
CHEAPPPPP. This place is so CHEAP.
There are $2.99 specials on Monday thru Fridays until 11am and all day during the weekends and holidays. You can get a drink for an additional 25 cents.
There's another $2.99 special menu on Monday thru Fridays from 2 to 5pm and all day on weekends and holidays. You can get a drink for an additional $1.65.
The food was pretty darn decent especially for the price. I don't know how they make money. I got a large pancake, sausage and egg for $2.99...and a Hong Kong milk tea for 25 cents. The pancake was like regular pancake. The egg was yummy...but a little too runny. I should have ordered over easy. My only complaint is the tiny sausage...it was literally 1/5 the width of a normal one (does this sound a little dirty?).
The bf got pork chop macaroni soup...I've never understood Hong Kong food. He enjoyed it. The pork chop was really nicely cooked.
Ah Jojo's.... been coming here for breakfast for over an year now.
This is probably the best place to go for a cheap filling breakfast
that taste good. If this is your first time eating here and the waiter
gives you the big menu only, ask for the smaller one. Most of the
cheap good stuff are there. Everything on the mini menu is 3
dollars and the best thing to order there are the hash browns.
For 3 dollars its the most bang of the buck you can get around
the area comes with coffee or H.K milk tea and buttered toast.
I recommend the hash with ham and have your egg over easy
then mix the egg and hash and add salt... taste about 2 times
better than just eating them separate.
Minced Beef and Raw Egg is the BEST here! I RECOMMEND IT!
the spaghetti and porkchop is okay. I had better though.
the sweet corn and chicken is also okay, not bad. the sauce was creamy and not too thick, but not much flavor.
cheap and good food if you looking for a quick lunch... got my the salt and pepper spare ribs over rice... bang for the bucks!
If you're looking for good, cheap and non-generic chinese food, this is the place to try. I absolutely love their baked dishes and also their authentic chinese soup they serve on the side with rice dishes, you can really taste the flavor! There are many pros to the restaurant (family owned), The staff is always friendly and eager to help. The cons would probably be that it's a tad noisy, and not necessarily clean. Overall, it's a good cheap eat! 4 Stars for JoJo's Cafe!
Saw the place and thought "hmmm grilled cheese and chow mein!"
Ended up getting fried chicken wings and a grilled cheese.
greasy to the max.
it was pretty busy and the service was a tad funky.
i'd probably be back again if i was stuck out at CCSF as i was last time.
This place has a variety of food.
It took me like 20 minutes to figure it out which one I wanted to order.
I ordered the sesame chicken. That's my fav!
My friend ordered the fried rice and he said it's really good too.
Have you ever been to VIP Cafe or ABC? Jojo's Cafe is a mirror image of what VIP and ABC are, scaled-down in size and more family-oriented.
The staff here are extremely friendly, which is a plus. You can usually get their attention with a quick wave or glance.
While the variety here is wide spread, the taste is not too exceptional (don't except any memorable items, but they are good enough), you have your usual choices ranging from American items to Chinese items, e.g. Fries, Chicken Sandwich, Porkchop Rice, etc..
The best part about Jojo's is their 2.99 all day breakfast special on Saturdays!
Cheap! $2.99 for breakfast that includes entree + hong kong hot milk tea or other drink. Food comes out really quickly and service is not bad. Atmosphere is what you can expect from a family run business that serves everything from french toast, pancakes, and bacon to baked pork chop over rice and juk. There was a lot of noise, loud yelling, and a few flies. Can't really ask for more if you're paying $8 total for two meals + appetizer, tax and tip.
If I'm in the mood for such a combination of both American and the bf is craving Chinese or the other way around, I'll consider coming back.
Really? Four stars for a Chinese Resturant that sales American breakfast AND is on Ocean?
Damn straight son!
If you come here before 11AM, you can get a pretty decent sized breakfast that will last you a couple hours for only 3 dollars. What a deal huh? Too bad, my classes/work usually run past 11, so I can't make a trip down Ocean for the deal...
however! I do come here almost twice a week, usually with my friends for lunch. Granted that I didn't discover this goldmine until one of my friend told me about it. She was like oh come meet us up at JoJos on Ocean, and I was like... Okay, but where's JoJo's? The rest is history...
FOOD WISE
Their selection is huge, which I kind of dislike, but the quantity are always pretty big.. and I'm pretty sure all the food is good... Personal favorites? None that I can think of, they're all pretty decent and well worth the price, aside for the ones with the stars next to them, I was just told to ignore them... BUT this place is a goldmine for its price and quantity.... and quality too I guess, kind of...
Salt & Pepper pork chops.
Have I had anything else? Nahh not counting the cream cheese won tons, which are great by the way. Do i dare try some other entree? Highly doubt it. Ate from this place multiple times in middle school when I lived in the area and every once in awhile I'll come when I'm craving them. It's usually busy when I come so that's a good thing for them.
Note: I rate this review only on that dish. So go at your own risk.
We ordered delivery - hot and sour soup, lemon chicken, and chicken with pan fried noodles. The person who took the order said it would be about 45 minutes but 10 minutes later the delivery guy was at my door - I do live only 3 blocks away but it made me wonder how freshly cooked the food actually was. The food wasn't so great - greasy with overcooked vegetables - the hot and sour soup had a burnt taste to it was wasn't very hot or sour.
I don't think I'll be ordering from them again
this place is sooooo CHEAP! esp the happy hour special. i love coming down here for breakfast and its very convenient for me cause i live two blocks away. and there are free-close by neighborhood parking. i also like the fact that they open 7 am in the morning. but during the dinner time when you order a rice plate, they also come with soup. the food is very filling and i could never finish the whole plate! one bad thing is the visa/debit card limit is $15. so 3 STARS!
This place is great, cheap, greasy noodles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and they are really FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I came here on a weekday at lunch time with my girlfriend. Surprisingly, there were many open tables, we were promptly seated.
I ordered the salt and pepper pork chops with white rice, my gf ordered chicken wings with tomato style sauce over white rice. We also ordered a side of salt and pepper chicken wings. I was crazy for ordering so many types of chicken wings, and meat in general. The lunch specials came with a bowl of delicious, soup of the day which had some veggies in it.
The salt and pepper chicken wings were fresh from the fryer! It was super hot, but when it finally cooled down and we took a taste, it was quite delicious actually.
The salt and pepper pork chops were also of the same delicious nature. There was both generous portions of pork chops and rice.
My gf's dish was pretty good too. I loved the sauce over the rice and chicken wings! It was DELISH!
The meal ended with two fortune cookies! I'd definitely come back and probably try their breakfast one day!
seriously, have you seen the menu for this place!? if you live near SFSU and you're too tired/hungover from your 22nd birthday bash to go anywhere, you can get some delicious and affordable food delivered to your house.
this place is listed on http://eat24hours.com and their menu goes on for days! they have typical american breakfasts and foods [ie pancakes, omelettes, and sandwiches] as well as a very expansive chinese menu. we ended up ordering the corn beef hash, mixed egg foo young, and peking style pork chops. oh, and an orange juice that saved my LIFE. the food only came out to a little over 20 bucks, and it was enough to last us for DAYS. delivery was also quick and there were no problems with our order. i know my new go to spot now =]
Love, Love JoJo's Cafe! How could you go wrong with Hong Kong style food delivered right to your door?
Almost everything I had here is delicious! Some of my favorites include the: Beef Stew Won Ton Noodle Soup, Black Bean Beef Chow Fun, Orange Chicken Rice Plate, and West Lake Beef Soup. Yea, I guess you can say their strength is in the BEEF! ;)
Delivery is almost always FAST! Within 30 minutes they'll be knocking on your door delivering your food in a red grocery basket. How cute is that?
What a family restaurant!!
My uncle suggested this place today after a visit to the cemetery.
When I say family restaurant, i dont mean like for our family; i meant the owner's WHOLE family works here. The owner cooks, the wife takes orders, the mother-in-law chases after the 8 children who are running in and out of the restaurant cling clanging any thing they find that makes loud noises.
Patrons didnt seem to care, they were cute kids.
Now for the food. I usually dont like my beans in my red bean drink, but this one was like blended in a blender, the beans were soft and edible. Food was pretty good. They have everything from calamari to xo spaghetti. From clam chowder to chinese porridge. From pan cakes to bitter melon. From french fries and burgers to chow fun. You get the idea.
The place didnt look really nice on the inside or out. But the people were definitely nice!! Give them a chance. They have a big screen tv.
Best thing i had here today was the calamari.
SF Food Inspection Score: 3 Stars (out of 5)
I think this place gave me and my boyfriend the rhea......
I got seafood noodle soup and Ryan got beef stew with mashed potatoes and veggies. They were good enough for what we paid.
What's exciting is that they deliver BREAKFAST food and other stuff from the menu until 9:30pm!!!
So I'll try this place ONE more time just for their breakfast delivery. If I get tummy issues again, I'm NEVER ordering from here.
To be honest, they're used to be a pretty decent place to eat when they'd just opened few years ago. At that time, they served breakfast for $1.99 (what a deal), and the owner only had 1 little girl. But now, things seem to be going down the hill ... the service, the quality of food, the place.
Place is dirty ... the bathroom needs scrubbing, please!
The owner's little kids and the grandparents are always around, sitting at the corner table (eating, making loud noises, drooling, throwing tantrum, joking, and so and so) ... it's annyoing and disgusting.
Food is salty and oily.
Price is not so cheap compare to the nearby "chinese" restaurants.
If you pay and want your change, make sure you tell that to your server, because they might assume you don't need a change. Helloooo ... why would I give you a 30% tips for your lousy service. This wasn't happened just one time to me!
Milk tea is yuck ... tea is not fresh (Okay, it's free) ... well I would definitely not go to eat here anymore!
P.S. I think there're 4 little kids crowding the restaurant all the time plus 2 grandparents. Oh yeah, sometimes the kids would stare at you too ... hahahahaha
Jojo's! Thank you for feeding my broke ass! With your old school lazy susan tables and your walls covered in menus written in Chinese, you certainly are "chow fun" *nudge, nudge*
Your three dollar breakfast is serious business, though. For a rotating breakfast buffet of hot tea served in a water glass, mystery eggs and soaked French toast teemin' with peanut butter, I couldn't believe the price! Just the mere fact that you could get fish parts, sweet and sour sauce OR an egg on top of ANYTHING pretty much sealed the deal for me. My stomach cried, but my wallet rejoiced.
The end.
Tomato chicken wings over rice.
That's the stuff.
The chicken omelette is good too, and at any time of day! All omelettes come with hash and toast with butter and jelly. Yum!
Everything here is cheap, and tastes like good old homemade Chinese food. It's definitely better than what my mom makes. It's not fancy restaurant stuff, and I can't guarantee that it's good for you, but if you're looking for an affordable Chinese meal at any time of day, Jojo's is the way to go! And they make it SUPER fast.
Plus, they deliver free =]
$15 minimum
However, I have one final piece of advice: Their milk tea is disgusting.
This place rules and is super cheap!
3.75 Stars
Just barely missed the breakfast specials for Jojo's Cafe so my friends and I tried the dinner menu. We had chosen fried tofu with pork and minced beef over rice. For $5.25, we got more than a lot, it was super sized. I was like wow, who still makes plates this big? But I wasn't complaining. I have to come back and try the rest of their menu but my minced beef was definitely good. The minced beef was doused with oyster sauce and perfectly tender in every bite. It comes with a raw egg but the server allowed me to get a fried egg on top because I don't do too well with raw foods with being sickened twice in less than a year. The complimentary soup was nothing special and my friend didn't like his fried tofu dish. Service was really good and it is a hole in the wall but I really liked it. Gotta come back and try the rest of the menu. Come on a Sunday and parking is free!
In terms of places that are comparable to Jo Jo's Cafe, it's pretty darn good. In terms of places that serve food, not that great but for HK style food, like I said, pretty good. The one time I did come here to eat, I ordered some fish with cream of corn dish and I enjoyed it. That's way more than I can say for places like ABC Cafe or even Denny's (The Asian one in the Richmond District).
Just remember when you come here that 1) It's an HK Chinese/American restaurant and 2) It's an HK Chinese/American restaurant.
My friends and I have been coming here since HS, and we love it. I always get the Salt and pepper pork chops w/ fried rice which is sooo good for such a low price. They also give really big portions, I'll take some to go please! I like the fact that they make the rice plates available all times unlike other chinese restaurants that serve it during certain times of the day and not on the weekends. I loove it, fast service, and cheap too.
Cheap, fast, tasty, and large portions. Only tried once so far but looking forward to trying again!
THIS IS THE TYPE OF PLACE WHY YELP EXISTS. who doesnt gawd damn know that cowgril creamery has good cheese? who doesnt freaking know bobs donuts rule the im drunk off my ass at 3am donut scene? what we need is info on these types of places.
so Hen A. aka billy bobs dounts gave me this recommendation and holysmackmyass its a good one.
let me begin with this. ive been on a korean girlfriend streak for awhile. just recently, ive been telling friends, find me a nice cantonese girl....why? because they are less crazier than korean girls? they tend to be less violent? they tend drink less? they tend to have....blaabla.
NO damn it......... the reason, i miss chinese food.
alot of us nonchinese folks feel very intimidated to go to *chinese joints*. they can be almost as intimidating as korean places for nonkoreans. i love dimsum, i dont go the the usual dim sum joints, i go the the boakwai yank sing. at most chinese joints, the specials are almost always in chinese. most chinese folks dont even bother opening the menu. ehhhhhh i knew i shouldve paid attention in korean school when they was teaching chinese characters or in japanese class when they was teaching kanji. whatever.
why is this joint yelpish? im from the 415, i lived down the street, now i live up the street. i drive by shitty college all the time. grand auto is like my second home. the 76 on the corner is my drug of choice. IVE NEVER EVEN NOTICED THIS PLACE.
ok so before i begin, dont expect emily post etiquette here. this is the chinese joints of the people. bare bones, paper special menu on the walls.......but what is this!?!?? EVERY FREAKING SPECIAL IS TRANSLATED IN ENGLISH ALSO. nice. the menu reads out kinda funny, they got all the usual chinese fair and also some oddballs..... burgers, steaks, cream cheese wontons, omlettes.... its cool i dig it.
the meal started with a simple soup first on the house. pretty tastey for free soup. the meat was a bit tough and chewy, but hey, free is free.
salt and pepper shrimp. interesting, they used peeled and butterflied shrimp. most chinese joints are either too lazy are too worried it will dry out too much. *full flavor when shell left on* i must say shrimp with shell on, head on is far more tastier, but i was very pleasantly surprised with this one. wished only the green peppers and onions were cooked a bit longer.
rock cod in clay pot.... well its in a metal pot, but whos picky. not too shabby at all. amazingly the fish was pretty fresh. breaded and fried before tossing into a pot with black bean sauce (and the same green peppers, onion combo) was pretty good.
beef chow fun with gravy.... pretty damn freaking good i must admit. pretty DAMN good.
the damage with two sodas? barely 20 bucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!! can you believe that. holydamncheapeats.
this place is not the place to go for a fancy meal, its bare bones good chinese eats. they streamline everything, but dont sacrifice the most important thing, taste.........
now yall mofos must be wondering, did i get the msg thirst? no, not really, not really at all.
highly recommend if yous by shitty college and need a chinese fix.
edit : 9/29 : so since i wrote this review, i mustve ate here like 15 or so times. seriously. i just had it for a late breakfast today. my favorite? salt and pepper rock cod. damn good. id suggest going on a saturday afternoon. crazy cheap brunch specials. they have their usual fare plus this *chinese tapas* things, you know pot stickers, wonton noodle soup, chicken wings. ahhhh i love jojos.
This place is ok... I came here for lunch since it's near City College of SF haha. I ordered a Lunch Combination for $6.75 they give you a choice of BBQ Pork Fried Rice or Chow Mein, an entree and eggrolls. They have 3 different entrees to choose from, chicken and vegetables, sweet and sour pork, or mongolian beef. I got the mongolian beef. It was actually pretty good, better than I thought it would be. The portion was big since they piled on the plate with food! so I had to get a box haha. It wasn't bad, I liked it.
In terms of the environment, it's alright. Your typical "Chinese cafe" The seating is kind of cramped though. The bathroom is ok, kind of dirty haha. I also noticed that they have some specials for breakfast and afternoon tea so the prices are cheaper, around $3. They also serve American breakfast so it's like a mixture of American/Chinese food.
Overall, this place is A-OK! I would come back if I was around school and wanted some food.
I used to love coming here because it's so close and cheap but... I have stopped.
I have personal reasons why I won't ever come here ever again, but the food was always good and cheap. *sigh*
To make my long and personal story short, mentally handicapped person ordered 2 beef with black bean sauce chow funs.
It should be under $10 right? They took his twenty dollar bill didn't give him change and only gave him one order of beef with black bean sauce chow fun.
Yeah, some can say it was this guy's fault for not knowing any better but please bear in mind that he is mentally handicapped... and, he is one of my brothers..
For that, you will never be forgiven Jojo's. And you also had to feel the wrath of my father.
Yes, I am a bitch but I do have a heart and there are certain things I don't mess with. Taking advantage of mentally handicapped people is one of them. You done fucked up for LIFE Jojo's. *sigh*
The Fantastic 4 landed here for early AM meal...@ 8am to be exact and that is the time that this restaurant opens. Matt has passed by here often, but never ate here and tempted to. What attracted us was the early breakfast specials for $2.50 on selected AM meals. Despite the Health Dept scored this restaurant a 82, it can't be that bad, but the price was too good to deny.
The four of us each ordered the special. Matt ordered the Chicken and Macaroni soup, which is a Grilled chicken with frozen Peas and Carrots over Chicken Broth soup. Wife ordered the Grilled Cheese sandwich and the kids ordered Sausage, Egg and Toast, and split a order of pancakes. All of our meals, including a cup of coffee (.25 extra for refills)for the adults and juice for the kids for under $3.00 each. Decent meal without putting a dent in your wallet. You can't beat that!
Matt decides to comeback here again for lunch time, this time with his co-worker. Matt ordered the Curry Chicken over rice. Co-worker ordered the Combination-Meal package, which was the Mongolian-Beef over Fried Rice and Egg-roll. She subtituted the Fried-Rice for plain White Steamed Rice. Both our plates were good and tasty for $5.50 each.
This restaurant also has an affordable special menu from 2pm-5pm. Matt might come back here to check those meal around that time. Don't let the score of 82 from Health Dept fool you, this place is overall clean including the lavatories. Although Matt is curious about the kitchen.
This will probably be one of our default places to go eat. It's not too far away, and parking isn't too bad. There are options - lots of them. The menu has something for everyone. Just the other day, I heard someone ordering take-out - oxtail for one and then hamburger & fries for another.
The food actually tastes good/okay! And it's so darned cheap too. So far, service has been quick. Salt & pepper chicken wings - they're small in size, but the flavor is nummy. I was lickin' my fingers.
It's family-run - not a fancy place. So if you're there early on the weekends, you can treat your ears to two little girls screaming at the top of their lungs and a little boy making his own little noises.
Jojo's is like Ho Jo's, Chinese style.
You can get a little of everything, served quickly, inexpensively, and you can hang out as long as you want.
After reading Euge's review, I decided to try Jojo's for dinner with my brother on Thursday night. Here is the summary of our visit:
1/ Bad lighting. Very bright, clinical. It's not a pretty restaurant. You will not look pretty either. Not good for a 1st date.
2/ HUGE MENU. Let's see, do I feel like Pork Fried Rice? Or maybe Eggs & Toast? Mmm. Maybe spaghetti. No, Garlic Green Beans. Oh, hell bring it all on.
3/ Cheap. 2 Soups, 2 Appetizers, 2 Entrees, 2 Drinks + Leftovers = $21
4/ Fast. Nearly instantaneous. Food comes out in the order that it is ready, not necessarily the way you order it.
5/ Good food. Consider the price/value relationship. Not greasy, though definitely not high end. Better than most.
Appetizers: Cream Cheese Wantons (good) and Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings (very good, large portion)
Entrees: Black Bean Rock Cod in a Clay Pot (very good) and Sweet & Sour Chicken (a bit too sweet)
6/ Nice Service. Not warm, but friendly enough. We were there around closing time and they were still letting people in. We didn't feel rushed at all.
I felt a late-night diner vibe, only with endless cups of tea rather than coffee. It would be a great place to discuss illicit business, as no one in there gives a shit what you are talking about, or how late you come in, or how long you stay. I like it.
It's in my hood so I will definitely be back.
Five out of Five all the way!
1. LOCATION - Easy access to highway 280 and a stone's throw from CCSF, not too far from SFSU. For working students or working people, this place totally rocks.
2. SPACIOUS - Lots of light, padded seating, easy to find a table, even when busy (which is usually).
3. DELICIOUS - I'm partial to their chow-fun dishes, and ma bo tofu. Good portion, CHEAP AS HECK, and prompt service. They also feature western dishes for the timid or noodled-out.
4. FRIENDLY - The ower JoAnne is originally from somewhere in central China. She recognizes me, knows my name, knows me when I call to pre-order. And my food is waiting for me. Always. And I'm a tall honky who could pass as "the Captain" of the Von Trapp family in Sound of Music, OK? This is not some fellow "ethnic identity solidarity thang"....All ethnicities are totally down here...
You'll recognize it as the busy place behind the yellow/red lettered awning overhang thing out front...
No Tavern on the Green here, but --HIGHLY RECOMMENDED--
If you find it amusing that the owner's 4-yr old kid throws a tantrum at the restaurant, rolling and dragging himself on the sticky floor while the grandpa just looks over him and yells, "go ahead and continue. see if I care.", then Jojo's is the place for you.
I found it very uncomfortable that the owner's kids are there most days of the week (I've been here for breakfast and dinner, and every single time I see them). That particular 4-year old kid was dragging himself on the floor and eventually found his way under my table. I gave a look of uneasiness to the grandpa, but he ignored my glance, just like how he ignored his grandson's tantrum. I coulda stepped on the damn kid and shoo him outta my way, except that I was really hungry and had to finish my $2.75 french toast slabbed with artery-clogging butter.
A $12 bill later (which consisted of 4 breakfast entrees, none of which made a lasting impression), I vowed never to go back to that depressing place. Instead, I made a stop to my local supermarket to buy my own bread, eggs and syrup instead.
After trying out several other places on ocean, I settled on Jojo as my choice spot when the porridge urge hits.
Jo jo's is cheap. It's dirty. And it tastes -Amazing-. I have a sick fetish for places that are diamonds in the rough, and this certianly fits. Yeah, sure, they got a 80 on their health score card. Yeah, sure, the decor is crap and the service isn't spectacular. That's not why you go to JoJo's.
You go to JoJo's to get _fed_. If you're a college student, JoJo's should be the first one you call (they deliver). I've taken five people there and eaten for $25 bucks, that and everyone had a ton of left overs for their kitchen.
The dirtyness might freak people out, but honestly, it makes the food taste better. It tastes more like someone just MADE it rather than getting it out of a container. It tastes -authentic-.
Oh, I almost forgot, their menu is the length of your arm. It's packed with strange, exotic and amazing dishes (try anything with Ginger). You'll always be lost for choice.
JoJo's get's a four, (even though it's a five in my heart) because, well, there is plenty of room for improvement. I just don't know how they could improve it without making it more expensive. If they made it more expensive, well, it just wouldn't be JoJo's.
Eat it.
Not much of breakfast person, so I took my lady to a place that can serve up breakfast, lunch, and dinner at any time! In fact, JoJo's closes at 2am for you late nighters. Definitely, a great alternative to those who are tired of Denny's or IHOP.
I loved their greasy Beef Chow Fun (flat rice noodles) and their Bannana Milk Shake. Their scrambled eggs, however, were not mixed well, for their were traces of white spots all across. Yucky! And that's right, I had breakfast and lunch at 9:30 in the morning. Yes, I'm a pig--but only when there's value. So don't front.
Towards the end of my meal, I noticed their scorecard hiding upon the front counter. I was real curious to see, especially since I use that famous green piece of paper as basis behind the cleanliness and upkeep of their kitchen and staff. I took a peep of their score and, my jaw, it dropped in disgust. Score was an "80"? I mean how bad (or even dirty), does a restaurant have to be to earn an "80"? I've seen many in the "90" range, but a flat "80" is inexcusable. I won't come back here again unless the situation meets these circumstances: I'm broke, I'm around the area, and I haven't eaten in at least two (2) days. JoJo, whoever you are, clean up your act, boyee!
