I am revising this almost entirely from my original review. My original recommendation was not to go there if one's a vegetarian. I was wrong. They have several vegetarian dishes, and they're tasty. Though I don't quite understand why everything has to sit on a puddle of oil.
The rest of the menu is a fairly typical list of upscale meat/seafood fare. Nothing tastes bad.
I know good service is hard to pull off in Boulder, but I expect a place like this to try harder. It's not exactly incompetent, but it's unfriendly. In Boulder, it's usually the other way around.
It's a very old house off of Pearl (not the pedestrian part) and easy to miss. It's surprisingly spacious inside--and cozy at the same time.
If you want a fancy romantic pricey meal or are on expense account, John's is a good place to try. I'd personally recommend Q's in Hotel Bolderado instead.
