John's Gardening Service was recommended by some people on my Yahoo Mom's Group. Our front yard was horrid so we needed someone to install a new sprinkler system and also put in new sod. John's prices are very reasonable. He is very professional and friendly. My 3 year old thinks he's the greatest!
Our neighbors love our yard now that it's no longer yellow. Whenever the lawn turns yellow (from our terrible maintenance), I call John and he'll take care of it plus do various yard work like pruning our rose bushes, trimming the hedges, etc...
I wish I could hire John on a bi-weekly basis but my husband is too frugal (ha!).
Ditto on the reviewer with he advance pay issue. I hired John's Gardening service a couple of years ago for my home. On the very first visit he was at my door asking for payment in advance for a month's worth of service. I told him that I was not comfortable with that and even though payments are typically once a month after service is provided, I would pay him for this visit only since he was pushing the issue. He was not happy with that. Seemed very shady. I called later and asked him not to return.
I called and scheduled an appointment for April 6th, 2008 with this guy for a bid on new sprinklers and sod. Thanks a lot for pulling a no-show you jerk! We waited around for an hour after our scheduled time (9:30am) but we never heard from you and you never came over.
Don't waste your time calling this guy.
I would stay away from this man. He requested two weeks pay in advance and then did not do the work he promised. He refused to discuss making up the work he owed us claiming we are unreasonable and we were treating him like a slave. He just flew off the handle for no reason at all. I am a very calm person and would never take advantage of anyone. We were paying him $50 per hour for John and $20 each for his crew. Now that doesn't sound like slavery to me. I am so disappointed. People just do not want to work these days.
I haven't actually used John's service, but I met him this morning. He was very personable and professional. However, he quoted $120 per month ($60 bi-weekly) to maintain our very small yard. To give some perspecitve, our previous gardener was charging $35 per month ($17.50 bi-weekly). John's service might be wonderful, but he really makes you pay for it. Holy smokes!
