I've been going here for years. I used to go about twice a week for lunch...in a hurry. They could make a side salad and two veggie slices in about 10 minutes. and HEY it helps if you tip them...they remember you!
These gals are the best. Great Calzones and Italian Sausage subs....good pizza too. COLD beer.
The service was great. I enjoyed playing the old school video game. But the pizza was just okay. Not terrible. But not good either. I would put it in the same category as school/cafeteria pizza (ouch). But I didn't hate it though....
Johnnys Pizza is a good pizza joint. Its nothing fancy but i dont usually associate pizza places with words like fance and upscale. For some reason i really like their salads. They are pre-made and the dressing is from those little cups that you tear open but the lettuce leaves they use are crunchy and substancial peices of leaves. The pizzas, though, are the best part...especially the barbecue chiken pizza. That thing was awesome. Very fresh and flavorful. Also, everytime i go to Johnnys the service is very good. The only criticism i have is that i wish you could get a pizza with a thick crust.
Once a week when I was a kid, my mom would go and pick up a Johnny's pizza. It was always a treat and I would tell all my friends that "my favorite food is pizza--Johnny's pizza". Then there was a long period of time in my college days when I did not get a chance to eat Johnny's pizza and I missed it. Since going back, it is clear that the same quality remains that was in place when I was a kid. This is truly good pizza with huge slices and tasty, savory toppings. It's probably the closest thing to NY style pizza on the southside of Atlanta. Their calzones are also out of this world. Don't expect any frills inside the restaurant--I don't know if I'd call it a complete dive but it is pretty close to it. It has a solid crowd of locals at night, and employees near the airport area during lunch. Give it a try if you're on the south side!
This place is in my neighborhood so I have eaten here a few times, the pizza is good, the italian dishes (lasagna, etc) are so-so, (I make better at home!) but the one really redeeming feature for me is...The Garlic Knots, soooo yummy - little knots of dough, baked to perfection and swimming in butter with chunks of real garlic. Also, it's a bit of a neighborhood hang-out so you never know who you're going to see, which can be fun!
I've only been here once, so I can only go on that experience. The pizza was good, and quick; the other items (subs, salads) didn't look all that impressive. The pizza was overpriced for what it was, but I wasn't disappointed.
