Great breakfast!!! Friendly waitresses & owner. However, if you're trying to eat a low-cal, boring I mean non-fat breakfast, ;) it probably won't be the place for you.

I have driven past by this place many times, and seen many coupons for this place. One day I saw a coupon saying 'BEST BURGERS IN JAX', so I thought why not? I finally decided to come in and experience what this place has to offer.
As I first exited the car from the parking lot I heard a lot of bickering coming from the front of this restaurant. After paying attention a little closely I noticed that an employee was arguing about the use of cellphone over lunch with her friend and her friends boyfriend. I know she was an employee because she had an apron on, and was wearing their uniform.. Plus later on she waited the table next to us.. Anyways bad first impression. I mean come on! If you are wearing a uniform for the place and arguing with others please take the argument elsewhere not in front of the restaurants entrance!
The exterior of the place did not seem like it was a 50's diner, however once you entered you have been time warped back to the 50's. It's a cute decor, and it even has its own jukebox!
Waiters here were very nice and helpful (even the one arguing outside).
I ordered their leverne and shirley burger. Presentation looked good, but it was tasteless, VERY greasy, and the fries that came with it was undercooked and tasted like those fries you buy at the grocery stores. I am 100% sure that their burgers are pre-made frozen patties.. Sure does tastes like it.. My partner also had the burger (just another type), and he said the same exact thing about the burgers and the fries.
Would I recommend this place to anyone? Yes and no. I only had the burgers here, so I am not sure about the other meals. I gave it a two star only because it has a cute decor, and the waiter was very friendly, and was always smiling. -

Like most people are saying the decor inside is terrific. I wouldn't have found it, though, if I wasn't searching for a breakfast place. It doesn't stick out from the road.
On to breakfast, and the staff. I ordered a coffee to start, and was greeted to leftover red lipstick when I turned the mug to get at the handle. The waitress was quick to fix it when I asked. For breakfast I had the waffle, bacon, and I substituted potatoes for the the eggs. Unfortunately, I have mixed feelings. The waffle is thick and soft, and I'm a fan of light and crispy. Personal preference I know. The bacon was thick, and cooked just right. On the down side it is definitely too salty. Lastly, the potatoes are fried, and were just about over cooked.
On to my friend who was less pleased. She ordered the Ritchie Cunningham which comes with 2 eggs, bacon, potatoes, and pancakes. The eggs were ordered over-medium, but came out over-easy. She gave the cook another chance and got something in between. Somehow the cook was able to overcook the outside, and leave the whites close to the yolk runny.
FYI, don't try to explain how your used to cooking, or ordering something like over-medium eggs. Both the waitress, and hostess felt the need to tell my friend that the eggs were fine after prying on how she new what over-medium eggs looked like. Needless to say we didn't try again. To the staffs credit, they tried again even though we declined when asked twice. Actually, if you ask twice, and still try when a customer declines, it's almost rude.
Back to her meal. She was in agreement that the bacon was thick and cooked well, but too salty. Potatoes could've been better, but the pancakes were wonderful. Probably won't go out of my way to return. -

I have to admit, this place is close to my neighborhood and I had never heard of it before they were a featured deal on Groupon. We decided to give it try this afternoon and took our son and my husband's parents out for lunch.
The restaurant looked pretty clean and since we were a larger group, we had to sit in the back so we had adequate room. We were by the jukebox which was, fortunately, playing at a very nice level.
They have quite the selection of fancy burgers and platters. I went for the club sandwich which was so huge, I had to send half of it home with my father-in-law. :) The crinkle fries left a little to be desired and weren't salty at all. My son ordered cheese fries with his Volcano Burger and didn't get them, but as far as I could tell, we weren't charged for them, either.
We discussed amongst ourselves who had the better burger, this place or Five Guys and everyone agreed that Five Guys was better but since this is more of a sit-down and enjoy place, we agreed we would come back.
Now onto the giant milkshakes. My husband and son just had to order one each. My husband got a strawberry cheesecake one and my son got a peanut butter cheesecake one. They were each very delicious. We also had homemade cherry cokes which were heavy on the cherry, which is always nice to me! -

we went for the first time for their bike nite. Hopefully the cold weather was keeping everyone home. There was a total of 6 bikes. The restaurant was well designed and is clean and interesting. My burger and chhese fries were great as were the onion rings. My husband had an omelet with potatoes which was also very good.
They have a nice selection on the menu.
We'll be back -

I only give Johnny Angels's 2 stars because of my experience. The decor is delightful and the staff friendly and helpful.
From the minute we walked in it is just LOUD. The juke box is over powering if you are in the back by it. AND the exhaust system makes the whole place feel as if it is sitting on a jet engine getting ready to take off. Between the noise and the vibration I actually felt sick to my stomach by the time I ordered.
As for ordering, I had the two egg breakfast plate with bacon, grits and an English muffin. My eggs were cooked to a perfect over medium. The bacon they served was undercooked (not crisp) and chewy at the same time? SALTY!! Couldn't eat it. My grits were grits, came to me warm, not hot and in desperate need of some of that salt that was on the bacon! My English muffin had been grill top fried with butter and a bacon press, I can only imagine, since it was as flat and crispy as it could be. Maybe some folks like that but this was not a good brunch for me since all I really wanted was the bacon and a normally cooked English muffin in the first place.
My BF on the other hand ordered the Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich and it was almost perfection. Other than being a little thin for a cheese steak, the meat was seasoned nicely and the cheese melted thru and thru instead of just being thrown on top. This is one sandwich I did steal a few bites of! -

You know that after thanksgiving nap you get when you are filled to brim with holiday goodies? Yeah. That's exactly what happened after I ate here. I fell asleep and didn't wake up until 3 hours later. Hahaha.
The food is not all that great (I ordered a chili burger http://static.px.yelp.... and the meat wasn't high quality meat), but their chocolate malt milkshake http://static.px.yelp.... was DeeeLiciOusss....
I might come back again and order something different, however. The decor and surroundings really take you back in time to the 50's (complete with a jukebox and reruns of the 3 stooges). Next time I'll come wearing a poodle skirt or something. -

Johnny Angel's is a unique diner. It has a nostalgic feel to it and that's where the positive vibes ended. It was myself, my wife and our daughter. My daughter ordered the kids' chicken tenders (3) which was equal to 1 anywhere else. Those were $4.99! The parents each had a hamburger platter. Mine was the bacon cheeseburger and hers was a cheeseburger. Not difficult to remember, but somehow they messed that up and put my bacon on her burger. We all had fries that were undercooked. For a place that only had one other customer, these are unacceptable. The employees are friendly, but what else are they to do when it is dead slow and food is average at best. Avoid at all costs and get a better burger somewhere else.

The decor of the place draws you in. If you grew up on the 50s, you may get nostalgic. I ordered a cheese burger and fries. The burger was okay, but it could have been thicker and juicier with more flavor. The bread tasted like it was a few days old and was dry. The fries tasted like ore Ida frozen fries. I was hoping for hot and crispy ones. Finally, for a mediocre burger, it was overpriced. For a basic burger, the cost was $7. This could be spent elsewhere for a better tasting burger. The server was very attentive and sent us on our way with to-go drinks.
