$$$ but worth it. When I brought the boys in for suits the prices scared them until the tailor came in and basically custom made the suit (and shirts) again for them. The final straw was when the tailor remade the suit because my brother in law 's left shoulder was higher than his right. The work is impeccable. The SF space is beautiful.

I've been a big fan of John Varvatos, so I was very excited to see the new store while I was having lunch at the Needless Markup Cafe across the street. Even though I was dressed up in workout gear fresh from my haircut, the staff didn't pull a Pretty Woman on me. In fact, when I told them that I wanted to get pimped out for an upcoming launch party, I had at least 3 salespeople working in tandem to pull out shirts, pants, and jackets for me. The leader of the pack was a hot young blond named Corey that worked with me for over an hour through numerous outfits to get just the right look. He has expensive taste, but then so do I.
So, what started as a quick tour of the new digs turned out to be the worst affront to my credit card since December '06. Totally worth it, though.

so my disclaimer is that i heart john. i used to work with him in nyc for another company.
as a boss, he is super sweet and open to hearing your suggestions.
tonight was a charity party and live concert in support of the sf guardsmen. los lonely boys were playing outside and the place was jammed packed with over 600 people.
the cool giveaway was his new cologne.
so, i do love his clothes - and i love his line for converse. cool but casual clothes. people have to really know fashion and fabrics to appreciate the quality and thought in the design. and if you don't, come shop with yours truly.
his store in nyc at the old cbgb totally rocks the house! literally! i saw a band play live in the store....complete with giant scary bouncer dude.
so i'm waiting for his womens line but in the meantime, i'll peruse the racks for any ahem...special people in my life.

The new John Varvatos store is amazing. Within minutes I saw about 4 jackets, 5 pairs of shoes, and a half dozen shirts I wanted to buy. I've seen the limited selection of Varvatos clothing at stores like Bloomindales and Barney's, but I've never seen how extensive his line was until today.
Aside from all the great Varvatos clothing (his own line and the line he does for Converse), the interior design is top notch. There are two levels and plenty of space to wonder around in. According to one of the employees, Varvatos designed the store himself.
The staff was friendly and helpful without being overbearing.
And, quite possibly my favorite thing about the place... it is filled with great vintage rock and roll photography from the 60's, 70's and on. These aren't posters or reproductions... the photos are originals prints signed by the great photographers who shot the images (Jim F&$CKING Marshall anyone!) You could visit to the store as if it were a fine art gallery on its own.
Look out Ted Baker, I think I have a new favorite store in town.

Awe-thume store..Like a tweaked-up Ted Baker.
Awesome employees..they are very friendly and well-dressed, of course..they look like supermodels (without the contract)
They also let my boston terrier inside. LOVE THEM!!
Check it out..the man's line is amazing.

This store is very sexy, very NYC. I do like Varvatos clothing alot....I do think if they want this store to be successful, they are going to have to train their staff in customer service. Step it up in assisting your clientele....it was non-exsistent when I came in. Put forth alittle effort and I would be a loyal customer.

wonderfully designed. all the furniture is from a local design showroom in sf. it's a sexy space. i can't wait for the party :)
