If pita bread is delicious, then this stuff is delicious. Warm, soft, yet crunchy on the outside.
Lately I've become more and more interested in greek food. I guess as my palette expands, I desire more interesting flavor combinations. As far as Greek restaurants go, this one is pretty good. Not the best (the best would be in Greek town in Chicago), but for San Antonio, Texas, this stuff is pretty good.
My meal was enjoyable and the service was pretty good.
John the Greek is great, if typical, greek food. We eat and get take-out from the on one Thousand Oaks and 281 from time to time. The service is always fast and friendly, so a great place to stop in for lunch. The best thing about John the Greek is probably the salads and you can buy the dressing at HEB! My husband swears by their lamb souvlaki. The only thing about the Thousand Oaks location is that they close early (8pm!), which is not good if you're craving their yummy fries on a Friday or Saturday night.

Have been to John the Greek about 6 times. I used to live nearby. The gyros and salads are great. The lentil soup is OK. There are many combo platters with gyros and choice of french fries, salad, soup or some combination of these.
Only location Io ever ate at was the one on Harry Wurzbach, which is now closed and was a very run down building at the time and unclean. Food is overall good, especially the homemade french fries and his very own salad dressing, but the rest is only slightly above average and very typical run of the mill Greek.
Roxanne Jemeyson, Justin Myrick, Dawn Volesky and I had lunch here. We all ordered various entrees and they were all fantastic. Good prices for outstanding food. If you like Greek, you will like this place.
