Recommended Reviews for John Acosta, DDS
I highly recommend this dental office! I've been going to Pacific Coast Dental for the past 4 years and it is the best dental experience I've ever had! Dr. Acosta is super nice, detail oriented, and competent. I've never liked going to the dentist, but Dr. Acosta always makes me feel comfortable.
Jim, the hygienist, is the best hygienist! My teeth have never been cleaner! He always educates me on what I can do to take better care of my teeth. He is also really good at giving shots, when I've had filings put in. (This is coming from someone is really really hates shots.)
Plus the office staff is always super helpful and friendly.
I like this dental office so much that after I moved to Walnut Creek I kept coming to them. The hour drive is worth it!
I whole-heartedly recommend Dr. Acosta! He is personable, energetic and each and everyone of the staff makes you feel comfortable. Going to the dentist can be an intimidating thing but not when you come here. My kids (who are 6 and 8) look forward to going and getting a 'prize' at the end of the visit. We have been seeing him for the last 3 years and have never had any issues.
Also, Jim is the best hygienist...its never painful and he taught me how to properly floss!
The office itself is clean and aesthetically pleasing, they offer coffee and tea, and computer games for the kids.
If you are looking for a new dentist for either yourself or your children, Dr. Acosta is where to go!
A dentist who actually educates his patients about the ins and outs of dental care! Dr. Acosta is sooo passionate about his service that it's contagious. Given my unfortunate dental genes, I am now more proactive in caring for my teeth! He took the time to communicate with my orthodontist to look for options for my complicated braces plan. I really like that he's always on the search for advanced technology and care. I think it's great that he is continues to even get better at something he already excels in! The staff are great, too! Shoutout to Ann, Frances, Des, Jim, Shannon and more (as they keep growing!)There are no blind spots when it comes to the details (cost or service wise) because they take the time to communicate all these things and more to us, patients.
My past dentists never did any of these things, in fact, they took the shortcut! It couldn't be more plain as another name to their list. With this past experiences, I never thought I would rave about a dentist and his team but really, this one is for keeps!
(And it doesn't hurt that the office is across the beautiful Pacifica beach! Great trip before or after the cleaning or what not!)
I really hope that there will more dental offices that practice the same level of work ethic and quality as Dr. Acosta and his team do. Cheers!
Love everyone here, Yesterday Jim Terry did his magic! Never felt a twinge. His verbal reinforcement of my home efforts is rewarding and keeps me on the ball. My wife and I are relative newcomers, but we've experienced enough by now to know where to get our dental work:
Pacific Coast Dental.
Dr. Acosta's office has been wonderful to us. People are the nicest and they really care. They show you exactly what they see and explain the treatment they'll choose in detail before starting. One of our daughters has sensitivity issues and they have been incredibly patient and accommodating.
I first visited Dr. Acosta 4 years while he was still in Daly City, where he impressed with how informative and personal he made the experience for me. Then I tried another dentist closer to my workplace in the South Bay, but quickly realized the difference of Dr. Acosta & his team. Professional, tech-savvy, and friendly staff all around. I'm now back with Dr. Acosta again and plan to keep it that way!
If you have Delta Dental Insurance, please be aware that Dr. Acosta's practice IS NOT a Delta Dental preferred provider. That means you will be paying more, and more out of pocket than a preferred provider. I inquired if they "took Delta Dental insurance" and they indicated they did, but his staff failed to notify me that they were not a preferred provider.
Please note that this review is not a review of his skill, only of the fact that his services cost more that those of preferred providers, and the fact that his staff did not inform me up front of that. Shame on me for not asking explicitly "Are you a Delta Dental preferred provider?" Shame on his staff for not clarifying that for a customer that obviously was using Delta Dental insurance.
A fabulous dental experience! Everything about this office rocks.
Awesome people! Dr. Acosta is very patient, personable, and professional. Jim is a great guy! Other times I've gotten my teeth cleaned, the polishing tool comes out and my toes curl up in horror. Not with Jim. With Jim at the helm, I know I'm in for a flinch-free dental experience with lots of laughs and an unparalleled soundtrack! The admin staff are great; professional and polite.
The price is quite reasonable. Sure, I fully understand that people new to the Bay (like the guy who posted a year ago) will experience sticker shock, but I'm from here. The prices at this office are normal for the Bay.
The office is beautifully decorated, has music in every room, has console games for kids to play while waiting for their parents, and has The Best Bathroom of any business I've ever been in.
I can't recommend it enough. I'm all smiles!
My husband and I have been visiting Dr. Acosta's clinic for few years now. The service of Dr. Acosta and his team is impeccable, they have always done great job with outstanding attitude. We moved from the area few years ago. Now I need to commute from Stanford to see him, but it is absolutely worthy.
Pacific Coast Dental is the best! I have been going here for the past two years, and my experience has been exceedingly great. I am serious when I say that there was never a time when their service disappointed me! They care about the health and appearance of my teeth as much as I do! For someone who greatly disliked going to the dentist, Dr. Acosta and his hospitable assistances make my visit very pleasant and comfortable. They always offer to play my favorite movie on Netflix or music on Pandora, and when it comes to operating on my teeth, they are very patient; they ask me if I need a break. Because of their wonderful service, I recommend you go there too!
Better hope you've got insurance.
After a brief call on the phone to try to set up an appointment, I was informed that the cost of a cleaning and X-ray's $350. Generously, they offered a "promotional" price to those without insurance at the low, low cost of $199. Fillings, per tooth, run somewhere in the $275-400 range.
He may be a great dentist if you've got insurance to cover the expenses, but that's still no excuse to take advantage of your customers. Potential customers, too. Totally ridiculous.
As John Acosta pointed out in his response to me, I'm not from the Bay Area, no. I'm from Saint Louis, MO. That's a good three day drive away if you haul through it and drive 13 or 14 hours a stretch. Roughly 2100 miles.
It's likely not a surprise I didn't end up at Acosta's office, but I still needed a check up and cleaning. So, I went ahead and drove back to Missouri and visited my dentist I'd been going to since I've had teeth. Fortunately for me, this was summer and between semesters. Let me walk you through the total expense of that journey, from here to there and back again!
Corolla's are great cars, but I'm envious of you Prius owners on long drives. See, in a Corolla with good gas mileage, you can expect to spend roughly $200 on gas to Saint Louis, so long as you're paying attention to gas prices in towns along the way. I'm terrible when it comes to planning, but even I can manage that much. So, $200. I've got my usual hotel stops along the way, as well. It's usually $80 at the first and $90 at the second. I'll throw in about $20 for cheap food along the way just to get me there. So far I'm at $390. We'll double that for the drive back and we're at $780.
All that's left is the dentist! X-rays, a cleaning, and three fillings (it'd been awhile) ran up to a little under $275. Pricey! If we're assuming a filling runs an average of 337.50 (from the price range I was given on the phone), that would mean the procedure at this office would have run around $1213.
So, in total, I drove 2100 miles, got my teeth cleaned, drove 2100 miles back, and saved $158! That's almost enough to afford a new car payment if your old Corolla explodes on the drive back through Wyoming! Best part is how, if you flew round trip ($320-350) and avoided gas, hotels, and food, the whole ordeal would have only run you roughly $600, if that.
With those sorts of savings, you could afford three--count 'em--three new car payments, a nice dinner with your family, a pack of gum, and a soda! Diet, of course.6/16/2015 Hi Alex, I gather that you are not from California based on your other posts and it's understandable… Hi Alex, I gather that you are not from California based on your other posts and it's understandable that the price of dental work seems high. I've also noticed that you gave other small local business less than stellar reviews also based on pricing. As you will soon find, California is unique and the cost of operating a business and providing services will be higher than any other area in the country. A two-hour new patient appointment with exam, Xrays and cleaning is commonly priced over $400 at other offices, so $199 is a fair promo, especially since our new patient appointments can take up to 2 hours. As to our prices, we carefully priced our services at a competitive rate. So our prices are not the most expensive you will find in the area, nor are we the cheapest. To practice cheaper dentistry for us would mean we would need to provide lower quality work and much shorter appointments.
As stated in many reviews, patients get one of the most thorough and educational appointments they've ever received. We believe in quality work at a fair rate. We are one of the few offices that provides one-day Cerec crowns, digital X-rays, complimentary beverages, and TV & Music options during each appointment. In addition, my staff and I are trained in periodontics, orthodontics, pedodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, Biomemetics (just to name a few) and most importantly customer service.
Our patients are very happy with the quality of work they receive and many of our patients do not have insurance, so our pricing is very fair. To state that we take advantage of our customers would be untrue. If you ever want to actually give us a chance and experience the quality we provide, please contact us. Otherwise, there are many dental offices in surrounding cities that provide varying levels of service. We wish you the best and hope you find a good dentist to take care of your dental needs. I never thought I would ever say this, but since I started going to Pacific Coast Dental, I LOVE going to the dentist. Pacific Coast Dental is the best! The entire staff is extremely friendly and does their best to make you feel at ease. Dr. Acosta is very professional and also has a great sense of humor. Jim is the best hygienist ever! His cleanings are pain-free and my teeth have never looked better. The office also has the latest in dental technology. I had to have a crown and it was custom made for me in their special machine as I waited. No more temporary crowns! The office people are also very helpful and pleasant. This is the place to come if you want great dental care.
If you fear going to the Dentist, then go to Pacific Coast Dental. They take great care of you, your teeth and make you feel quite comfortable. I had teeth cleaning, fillings and now going through Invisalign treatment. All my visits have been pleasant and friendly. Francis, the Office Receptionist is great and quite efficient, Jim, Dr. Acosta and the rest of the staff really treat you like family. Now, when I visit the Dentist, I look forward to my visit! A plus that they take Delta Dental insurance!!
So fortunate to have Dr. Acosta and his entire team as our dental care providers. They are simply the best. As someone who has severe anxiety when it comes to dental procedures, I was amazed at how comfortable they always make me feel. I also have a two year old who absolutely loves going to the dentist. They are pros at keeping kids entertained and loving the entire experience. How awesome is that? Everything is state of the art and the office is so well appointed, it is a wonderful sanctuary. Love that you can have your cleaning, orthodontics, and cosmetic dentistry all in one place. If you care about your smile just go and take your entire family, you will love it.
