Meh.
Joey's didn't rock my world, but it was close to the hotel we're staying at while in town, the food is decent, beautiful wall to wall windows showcasing Lake Union and Seattle skyline, and uber-friendly staff.
For starters, we ordered the pesto shrimp flatbread which was delicious. I went for my usual fish tacos, which I always order whenever I'm in seafood territory (namely, Seattle) and while they were good, that's all they were. Not amazing, but okay. I expected more from Seattle fish. Ah, well. My future mother in law got the fish and chips special and her fish looked like huge fried eels.
Our server Dan was incredibly friendly, though, and made our experience worthwhile.
When we perused the Web for hotels close to our hotel, Joey's seemed much more cash than it actually is - it's kind of swank, actually. More than we wanted. There was even a section that was sectioned off with a velvet rope, which always signals cheese to me.
I came here after an exhilarating night out at Hooters with some friends. We decided to grab a few drinks here since we love the vibe at the one in Bellevue. Not only is this one beautiful since it's right on the water, but the service was fantastic and really impressive considering we were in on a Saturday night (where you generally hear horror stories).
We got in and there were a bunch of us (maybe 6 of us?) so obviously it was going to be hard to find a spot when it was so crowded. We went into the bar and found a table that had a teeny tiny bench and a chair so we did our best to cram in here, thinking this was the best we were going to get. A server came by and saw our issues trying to fit into the tiny seat and immediately tried helping us to find other chairs. Not in a "I-want-to-get-your-business" type of way, but in a super friendly way (if you catch my drift).
After trying to coax extra chairs out of people with no one obliging, we decided to stick it out. After being there for a few minutes, the same server came over and told us that she found a booth and that if we ran, we could snag it. It was even greater that we would have been in her section before but she gave us up as her patrons so that we could sit more comfortably. We asked if she could still help us and she said unfortunately no because we weren't in her section anymore, but it is just amazing to see people who really go out of their way for you like that. Pretty uncommon these days.
Drinks were good as always. I had to drive so I just ordered a few pomegranate lemonades (INCREDIBLE, btw) on which I received free refills the whole night and was shocked to see my bill where I was only charged for one. I assumed because it was a specialty drink (even though it was non-alcoholic) that I would have to pay for all of the refills, but I didn't! Made the night even better!
Beautiful restaurant. Beautiful setting. Wonderful company. I will be back again!
So... Since that review, I've become a regular fixture at Joey's on Tuesday nights. My close friends and I gather here weekly to partake in the SSVCC special - $2.99 for a single and $5.99 for a double!
The dark atmosphere has grown on me and perhaps because we're getting to know the waitresses personally... it seems like a much friendlier place than first anticipated.
Also, the food is great! Every single one of my Tuesday group has had the hamburger and the salmon roll. Yum!
A note for the ladies: There is usually a 2 females (them being myself and my friend) to 15+ males ratio!

I have to admit, the Joey's in Bellevue is better. Hands down.
When we walked into the South Lake… Read more »
I came here to write a review today about how much I love this place, and low and behold there is a picture of me as the main photo. I like it. I feel famed!
Anyway, I do love this place. I want to dislike it, simply because of my anti-chain policy. But I can't. Good food? Check. They have an awesome taco sauce that my Latin fiance says is straight from Mexico City. Deserts are wonderful. The Chicken Hibachi Wings are really good and fun to order. The signature mushroom soup is deee-lishous. The food is just consistently spot on.
Service is usually excellent, if not a little too much! It's great, but sometimes I do feel like, I'm ok, you just checked on me 2 minutes ago! Waaay better than waiting too long to be attended to, though. No real complaints.
I like to sit at the bar, because they don't bother you too much there and let you do your thing. Crowd is pleasant. I have been here more times than I can count.
Mehngh...
It really wasn't "that bad" but I think friends had built up my expectations. Yeah. I was let down. Service was average. Food mediocre. Value for the price - not there...
I just discovered my downfall... LOBSTER GRILLED CHEESE!!!!! OMG!!!! Never in my life have i heard of such a creation. Thank you Joeys for ruining my life... especially since i leave back to California tomorrow...
I will go back tonight again! possibly drunk! and possibly late! but its ok, because Joeys has a full bar and serves food till 1am.
If you know what to expect, this place is Great! I try and hit Joey's every time I'm in Seattle.
I love the modern and very comfortable decor as well as the view and beautiful staff! I do agree with the fact that they always seem over-staffed.
Saturdays they do $5.99 Gin & Tonic Supersonics, which is a gin & tonic with some slush. For the price, its plenty of booze and a bargain. Three of these will put you in a good place.
My favorite Food Items:
- Ahi Tuna Tacos (in my opinion the BEST thing on the menu, hands down! Order two orders!)
- The hibachi wings are pretty darn good too! Some times they can be a little too salty.
- The Blackened Spice Basa (big fish portion, the rice is really good and the salsa on top compliments well).
- My husband thinks Joey's does a good job with any of the Asian themed dishes (including the curries).
With good company this place is a lot of fun!!!
The food has always been good. And my gf at the time (who is now my wife) always loved the desserts. The drinks can be expensive, but they serve all the drinks in rare, special glasses that make it worth it. Great deck to watch the action on Lake Union. Parking can be a pain. But overall pretty darn good.
Joey's is great on Friday nights because they have a great happy hour and they have a Supersonic drink, which is like a vodka-tonic but it's blended. It's so delicious. Joey's is also fun to go to in the summer. They have a huge outdoor deck which overlooks Lake Union. This really is a magnificent place. They have a great layout, mix of drinks, and a variety of food to choose from. If you have never been to Joey's you should try it out.
A big disappointment is all I have to say.. what the f happened to joey's? I feel like this joey's is going to turn into the cucina cucina that once died at that location...

Good food. Nice looking waitresses. The steak is decent. I sit in the lounge because the view is better. Very tasty food. Good place for the guys to go and eat and check out the waitresses. Good bar too
I'm a fan...b/c...its the best contemporary diner in Seattle. The restaurant is plush. Its somewhat a hybrid between Ron Burgundy's apartment and Purple wine bar. Ron has many leather-bound books and his apartment smells of rich mahogany. This restaurant has many of the same attributes and their display of wine and alcohol is prominently displayed in a classy fashion.
I'm not quite sure how this place stays in business with its numerous locations. They are well staffed to the point of overly. The food quality is mediocre. And the interior fixtures are tasteful and rich.
I could tell you all about how the food was creative but lacking in execution, and that the service was mediocre for the amount of staff on hand there, the lighting was lacking at night, but you all expect this from a place like Joey's which is trendy enough to be seen have a decent meal at and spend about as much as you would at lesser cool steak houses/restaurants like the Outback or 13 coins. The food is just as good as Daniel's Broiler (same food for 1/2 of the price) and the diner's average age is about 1/2 that of Daniel's too.
Oh here's a tip: if you get any kind of salad, tell them to go light on the sauce or put it on the side. My salads were drenched so much that the lettuce was wilted from it being soaked in it. And avoid their crispy mash potato eggroll looking things. Actually just avoid entrees all together, appetizers are probably your best bet.
Go have a drink at the bar and look cool you good looking Yuppy you.
First off, I'm going to preface this review with: I'm sorry it's so long, I just had a lot to say and I've come here a trillion times, so a review was definitely in order. Secondly, I know that Joeys gets a bad rap for just having hot, dumb waitresses who flirt with male patrons, but if you sit in the restaurant or patio, it's actually a legitimate restaurant with good food and drinks at reasonable prices. Don't hate.
Okay, so.. great location! I love the view of Lake Union. On a nice sunny day, the patio is amazing! There's also a gorgeous waterfront by the entrance that adds to the grandeur of the restaurant. It's all black inside with swanky leather booths and chairs. It's trendy, but casual at the same time. Nights in the bar are a different story. Sausage fest, anyone? The bathrooms are picture-worthy. I've snapped my fair share of photos inside. I mean.. what?!
Drinks - they have a yummy AMF spanish margarita slushy thing and pomegranate mojito as well as other interesting cocktails. Great full bar, lots of local beers on tap, and happy hour drink specials.
They have an *interesting,* but random menu -- california sushi tacos, ramen bowl, and steak and lobster? Prices are reasonable. They have these great "crispy mashed potatoes" which are mashed potatoes rolled up in crispy wonton skins and topped with bacon, cheddar cheese, and sour cream. Unique and tasty. Their gorgonzola toast comes one slice per order, but could feed two easily. It would be more accurate to describe it as a "loaf."
Favorite appetizers:
- Calamari
- Sweet chili chicken
- Hibachi wings
- Gyoza
I usually just make a meal of the appetizers since I think they are the best items on the menu. The calamari is killer. The breading isn't too heavy, the calamari itself isn't too greasy, it's flavorful, light, and melt-in-your-mouth good. The red pepper aioli dipping sauce is heavenly. YUM! Their cheeseburger sliders are good - the meat is tender and flavorful and it's the ideal appetizer portion. The sweet chili chicken is tempura-battered, covered in sweet chili sauce, and served wich diced cucumbers and fried wontons. The gyoza is good, the the ginger beef is meaty and super flavorful, and the chinatown lettuce wraps are tasty, fun, and interactive, but a little on the salty side. Their hibachi wings are hands down, one of my favorite wings ever. They are smoked with some spice-rub and served with this amazing and creamy parmesan dip.
Yes, I've basically tried everything.
Favorite entrees:
- Chicken souvlaki
- Pesto chicken quesadilla
- Lobster ravioli
- Panang curry bowl
For as expansive, indecisive, and ADHD their menu is, these entree items are done really well. There is consistency in the quality and presentation. I'd shy away from the ramen bowl -- it's much better executed ramen at an authentic Japanese restaurant.
Favorite desserts:
- Chocolate molten lava cake
- Bread pudding
Molten lava chocolate cake is hot gooey chocolate inside chocolate cake with ice cream on the side. You can't go wrong with that. The bread pudding isn't your typical bread pudding; it it super flavorful, the perfect consistency, and the whisky butter chocolate sauce is delicious! Can you tell I'm a sauce girl? Yeah. Sauce rocks.
Pet peeve: they don't include food on their happy hour menu (only drinks), you have to pay for parking, and they don't take reservations. We came here for my friend's birthday dinner and had to wait 45 minutes. However, once seated, we got a great section and service was great.
There are some great highlights - i.e. Hibachi wings, strong drinks, and amazing summer deck. Despite all this, most of the food is still mediocre and the waitresses seem just a half step above Hooters. Perhaps a full step above strippers? After all, they are just working here to put themsleves through school.
Not quite sure how the food is but I can review the service and the lounge area.
First, I was not impressed with the service here - you seemed to have to always be chasing after a server or waiter to get anything if you were seated at a table. The bartenders were quick to respond but unfortunately, we weren't spending all of our time in the already crowded lounge area since the group hadn't eaten yet (well, my friend and I did) and were all looking to grab food. I was merely interested in drinks.
The one thing Joey's did teach me was that I should stick to Ketel One vodka instead of Chopin - the Chopin and sodas gave me an uber headache the next day and I quickly regretted it as I had to peel myself off of my bed the next morning. Otherwise, Joey's was very run of the mill and nothing that really grabbed my attention. Well, maybe the neon sign outside.
One of my favorites because the food is soooo delicious, good service, an unbeatable view of Lake Union, and an outside deck.
They don't have happy hour and that kind of sucks.
All the waitresses are hot so don't bring a boy there on a date it could get awkward!!!!
What to order:
- If you want to go healthy get the Diva Salad and sub out the chicken for grilled shrimp and dressing on the side
- if you want to go all out get the Calamari and order their Salmon with Cranberry-Almond butter. It comes with these fried egg rolls filled with buttery mashed potatoes
Joey's is a nice place to have dinner with friends. They really hit the mark with the atmosphere, though it is a little dim. The food is pretty good, nothing amazing, and the prices are mediocre. My only gripe is I feel that their menu options are pretty limited. The apple pie dessert was a little different and I liked the pastry crust much better this way. The maple ice cream on top was way too grainy for my taste though. The dessert is large, and we shared between 3 people so keep that in mind! Overall it's a place you don't feel rushed in and can have a nice chat. Another downside is somehow their parking lot is always packed and even if you don't want to valet you have to pay.
Talk about eye candy. You're definitely not here for the food, which was only okay. Joey's Manhattan was decent, but with the Redwood Room's in my recent memory, it paled in comparison.
The ambiance is sleek and cozy, with well spaced tables. I'd come back to watch a game in the bar.
I hate typecasting people or places, but after reading all 90 reviews of this place, I can safely say that you can tell immediately by looking at some ones yelp profile if they are going to like this place or not.
I eat here all the time, and I have to say its one of my favorite spots. I love coming here for all kinds of reasons, good food, great view, really hopping bar, good people to watch, awesome out door deck. I swear the deck is one of THE BEST places in Seattle to pass time on a sunny saturday or sunday in spring/summer time. Sitting there with the Northward view of lake union while kenwood air sea planes land 50 yards from your face is killer.
The staff is lots of fun, yeah they are 90% attractive girls, and yes, when I get a guy server at this place (theres only like 1 or 2 in the whole joint) I get bummed. This place has a theme and that theme involves you being served all of your food and drinks by a hot 20 something year old woman in a black outfit. They are awesomely friendly, and do a very good job of serving your food as well, nothing to complain about here.
Things that are great on this menu are, the AhI Tuna Sandwich. Monster Ahi steak with great focaccia roll, awesome sauce, onion rings, lettuce, and tomato pesto, really really good.
ALso great is the Salmon Entre. Its served naked with Cranberries and some kind of nuts that I can't tell what they are. They also serve these fried potato spring roll things with it that are basically like an egg roll with mashers inside, brilliant.
The Ahi Tuna Tacos are REALLY good but the portion is too small. The lettuce wraps are always really fresh, the wedge salad is a favorite and something I always get. I love a place that does a good wedge. The Calamari and Crab Artichoke dip is good. The french dip sandwich is a winner and very good with sauteed onions.
They have great drinks, good wines and always decant the wine appropriately when I have sprang for a bottle. They have stupid good bloody marys (more on that later on in an update.) Its also great to come here for lunch. I have a business lunch here with associates once every month or so.
In fact my only real gripe about this place is just that if your coming just for drinks, its very expensive. My average cocktail is 10 dollars, and that adds up really really fast. They have drink specials but they are laughable. Gee, 8.99 instead of 10.50 for my mojito? Thanks, you shouldn't have. LOL!
If you want to do this place like it was meant to be done do one of the following.
Come here on a Sat or Sunday at 12noon and get a seat outside on the glass wall or sit on the lounge soft seating that faces the lake. Order Tapas, keep the drinks coming and count the sea planes as they roll in.
Option 2 come to the bar at 8 on a friday or sat night, get a booth and watch the sunset over the lake as the puget sounds beautiful people roll in to mingle. Order the Salmon its bombastic.
Go to Joey's don't be a hater. If you don't feel comfortable in this place, your getting too old, or your too casual for your own good."
Food: Mediocre. There are a few decent items on the menu, but stick to the "neo-American" stuff. If you diverge from that, you'll regret it.
Bar: Fantastic. I like the drinks here, especially the specialty ones that are all doubles. My fav is the SuperSonic Gin 'n Tonic, while the girls really like the Bellinis. Despite a decent amount of seating at the SLU location and even moreso at the Bellevue location, it's usually really packed, so it's tough to get a seat.
Service: Good at the bar, but far from it in the dining area, especially if you come with a large group. I've been here many times, since other people chose it as the venue for a celebration dinner of some kind. The kitchen takes forever to make the dishes, the waitresses don't come by often enough, drinks take forever to deliver, and someone usually ends up receiving either the wrong dish or something cooked incorrectly.
I don't blame the waitresses, since Joey's hires them with 0 experience. With training and on the job experience, that isn't the issue. The problem is with the management. At the Bellevue location, they expect their waitresses to do EVERYTHING: seating, order-taking, food running, bussing, and they have to answer the phones too! What do the hostesses do? At the Bellevue location, the answer is absolutely nothing except stand around greeting incoming customers and write their names down on a piece of paper. In Seattle they also hold open the door and seat patrons.
If it wasn't for the chicken wings, I would've hated you with all my guts, Joey.
Yeah yeah yeah you're known for you're awesome location and all these supposedly gorgeous waitresses. Blah blah blah. Well, apparently those so-called beautiful waitresses are either too dumb or too stuck up to serve their customers. One of them can't remember my orders. One of them dropped my plate because she tripped on her stripper heels. One never ever gave us a smile. And another one of the waitress (yes I go here a lot) gave me this demeaning stare when I came here with two of my cute French guy friends like I'm some kind of ho or whatever. Well, maybe I am, and you're just jealous, girl... Now go get me them chicken wings!!
Speaking of wings... Ohhh their appetizers are divine. Especially for that Hibachi Wings. They give you a little mini grill to play with too. However, when it comes to main course? Nothing out of the ordinary. Boring.
Would recommend this place for a group of people, though, as long as you can bear the wait and the slow service. But I guess when you're with your good friends, it shouldn't matter.
It was one of those gorgeous sunny Seattle afternoons (of which there are far too few) and about eight of us stopped in to have drinks and food on the patio.
I remember this place back in the day when it used to be Cucina! Cucina! (in fact, I used to work security there on the weekends) but Joey's seems to carry on the magic - good drinks, good crowd, good food..
Needless to say, we got trashed. I'm pleased to say that they put up with far more of our crap than should ever be expected so props to them..
We didn't even plan on going to Joey's last Saturday. My guy friends were hanging out at the bar of a hotel we were staying at, and since us girls took forever, they started chit chatting with the bartender, who recommended this place. It was our last night in Seattle and we wanted to have a nice special dinner. We were suppose to go to this other place we found on Yelp, but figured... if the bartender highly recommended it, we should try it.
The place is gorgeous! We got there at 9pm and the sun was barely setting, so we asked for outdoor seating. We waited 30 minutes for our table but the waiting wasn't so bad. Why? With good music (R&B) and beautiful people working there was enough to keep me entertained! I loved our view! We were right next to the water, the sun almost setting, and there were nice luxury boats parked along the water. I was in heaven. I'm from LA, so having dinner with a setting like this will run well over $100, whether the food is good or not. My dinner was $20 at Joey's & it was declicious.
I had the Chicken Alfredo, which was tasty but my friend got this fancy grilled cheese looking sandwich with lobster in it, which I highly recommend! My other friend got the lobster ravioli, which was good but not as good as the grilled cheese! We all took a bite out of each other's meal :) My friend ordered the chocolate souffle, and yes, we all took a bite of that as well, delicious! It just melted in my mouth.
Joey's was the perfect place to have our last dinner in Seattle. It was a memorable evening and our waiter was very courteous, provided service with a smile, and went above and beyond. He knew we were from CA, and asked if we wanted a group picture. I'm a picture whore, so for a waiter to ask us, instead of asking him, showed that he genuinely wanted us to enjoy our night!
A little bit of Manhatan in Seattle! Great place for groups or just a date.
There Hibatchi chicken was so good! They brought us a little grill on the plate and and we crisped our chicken to our taste bud satisfation
Def a great place for a date or a group of friends!
The Ahi Tuna taco's are really, really excellent.
We started going to Joey's years ago as an after work place. My favorite time of the year is Joey's in the summer because the seating outside is truly awesome on the 20 days it doesn't rain in Seattle.
The drinks menu is creative and they get 5 stars for drinks. Their Bellini, (Yes, I know it's a chick drink) is the best anywhere. Whatever the blue drink is called on the "7 days of drinking menu" is great, too. But, it's like Thursday by then, and I can't remember which drink was what.
My second favorite appetizer is the Hibachi Chicken Wings. This is an interactive appetizers as they bring you a little grill and you need to heat or char the wings just the way you like. This is really fun for those of us who didn't play with fire enough as kids!
Last is a tie: The basket of fries and the edamame are both awesome. In fact, Joey's has the lightest, most flavorful fries in the world. The are far superior to even McDonald's back when their fries used to be good, before they became cold and greasy. My friend Rajiev professes to be a French fry expert and will fly from the Bay Area for a Joey's fry night.
The edemame is salty and excellent. This goes well with the drinks and is a lighter appetizer than all of the rest.
Joey's dinner menu is eclectic and offers everything from Salads to a Panang Prawn Curry Bowl to Steaks. For lunch, many salads, Souvlaki, (which is awesome), and even their burger is excellent.
This particular Joey's is the best in the chain. I tried their Eastside location which doesn't let you play with fire, (no Hibachi Chicken wings), due to fire code and their Canada locations. Even though they are Canada-based, the locations North of the border have a different, less creative menu....and, ARE DEAD!
Last, Joey's has a great wine selection and even a reasonable wine by the glass selection. Joey's even sells Gift Cards, and those who know me have been known to use these gift cards to entice me to bring them to Joey's...thank you, Kerry!
I'm not going to write an essay or even more than 2 paragraphs. It comes down to this: great food at reasonable prices and a gorgeous view of the water. Some of my friends work here and yes, the wait staff is hired heavily based on looks but they're really friendly too so I couldn't give a hoot otherwise.
My only gripe was when we had a group of 8 people, they didn't accommodate us by placing us all in a large booth (in an fairly empty room) but rather separated us into 2 group at tables ... tables that were bolted down and couldn't be pushed together. Now if that's not lame for a birthday gathering, I don't know what is.
And get the calamari, you won't regret it. I practically drank the dipping sauce.
Joey's is a great place to go for a date or just a nice dinner to go out. The service was really good and the food was very tasty. Nothing on the menu really stood out, however that being said the food is definitely consistent.
The views from the windows are gorgeous and definitely set a tone. The ambiance is pretty dark with natural tones that definitely contribute to a sheik setting.
The waitstaff have been terrific when I have gone and have gone out of their way to make sure our food was to our liking. Not that there was ever any complaints.
Joey's is cheesy like Janene S said but agreed, good food, their salads are large and even the dinner salad is not just greens and dressing. It has balsamic vinegar, cranberries, feta etc.
The sushi tacos are amazing, basically you get, crab & avocado in a small taco, there is a dipping sauce too.
They welcome you when you walk in the door and their servers are very good.
I do think their drinks are priced a bit high. My girlfriend got the lettuce wraps and she loved those as well.
The portions are very large, I couldn't eat all of mine
During the summer time this location is amazing, though the deck is not that large the parking sucks ass
I wasn't expecting a whole lot, but the food is really solid. The salmon was cooked well and served with mashed potatoes served in a crunchy, egg roll-like shell. Very tasty.
The salads are huge, and the deserts are tasty.
Chocolate banana bread pudding. Yes. Yes, it is.
The only thing I wasn't into was the mojito. It wasn't very minty and had little kick. It was around 6 pm on a Sunday, though.
I have to say, I was really impressed by Joey's!
Went here for a co-workers birthday. The host sat us immediately at a great table with a window overlooking Lake Union. On a sunny day, there are few other better places in the area to dine!
Our waitress was quick, attentive and cognizant of details (she asked to hang my coat). Our drinks were always full, water was provided in addition to our other drinks right off the bat (huge points on this), and she was very *very* informative about the menu.
The food here was also delicious. I haven't had a chicken sandwich so tender in a long time. My fellow lunch-goers were also equally as impressed.
Joey's is simply fabo-licious. My roommates and I love going here on a sunny afternoon. The view of Lake Union with the boats and horizon are BEAUTIFUL .... the service is fast, prices reasonable for the wide variety of food on the menu, and seating is comfortable yet swank.
Roommate Don always gets an order of the wings, which look delicious but I won't partake in because I don't eat meat off a leg of anything. It comes with a little mini firepit in the plate! I love their pesto chicken quesedillas .. last time, we ate there on a rainy brunch Sunday and had hot chocolate with peppermint schnapps, sitting in the near-empty bar. I still got hit on by some creeper who wanted to take me out on his boat.... umm, look at the weather outside.
I really liked Joeys'! I was visiting from SF and really wished they had one here.
+ Salmon
+ CHOCOLATE LAVA CAKE (WOW)
Yes, waitresses are hot and sweet! They were so welcoming and friendly.
mmmm Chocolate Lava Cake... I think that seriously is all I can think right now... maybe I'll try writing this review again another time when I can think beyond chocolate lava cake... a la mode...
Chocolate lava cake?
We sat at the bar area and had a beautiful view of the lake. Had the steak and sushi (8 oz steak and spicy salmon roll) for $19 (Happy Hours special). The steak was very tasty/tender and the sushi was yummy. We also ordered the Shrimp Pesto flatbread that was really really good. It was kinda like a thin crust pizza. The crowd and staff was filled with a bevy of beautiful ladies :-)
I like to work to eat my food. The mushroom-cheddar burger is the messiest burger I've ever eaten. It was all over my face and arms by the time I was done with half of it. Delicious!
The fries aren't really my thing - I prefer big streak fries and these were the shoestring style and kind of bland. All about the personal preference I guess. I also don't like how they bring out a dish of ketchup instead of just giving you the freakin' bottle already. Yeah yeah, trying to be fancy...but it feels like my condiment use is being regulated.
Our server was so excited to be our server that I kind of wanted to pat him on the hand and tell him to take a deep breath and switch to decaff. I'm sure if I'd asked for the ketchup bottle he'd have brought it to me.
Beer is 5.75 a pint during non-happy hour, which isn't the best deal around but whatever - at least they have a good selection. Nice view, too, and last time I was there I noticed an outdoor deck/bar that would be a ton of fun in the summer.
3 stars - not my favorite but doesn't suck either.
This place is weird to me. I go here a bit but never during the peak collar-popping hours. Usually we're on the water and dock up at Chandler's Cove.
I was in Calgary and ate at a place called Joey Tomatoes. Almost identical menu. Its obviously run by the same company.
The food is good. Drinks are good. The service is average. I like the decor.
It wins because its there at South Lake Union and they have liquor.
Are you kidding me? So here it is...
Their Ahi taco appetizer is one of the best I have had. A true mouth Orgasm!
Waitresses are not 10's... probably not any of them.
The prices are high, especially for drinks.
The service is slow and performed by teenage girls hired for their willingness to work for the man, and show their T&A off.
Thye have decent HH drink specials in the afternoon.
Last time they were aware they sucked so bad the gave us a gift certificate for $25, we didn't even say anything bad about our experience.
Pretty delicious blue-cheese fries I must say. The atmosphere was chic and I have to say, the bathrooms were amazing.
Beautiful view of South Lake Union and fairly decent food at moderately upscale prices. I think normal entrees range from $15 - 35. Bar grub like burgers are available for less.
I have had the lobster ravioli and more recently an Italian pasta dish with seafood. Both were very nicely executed. And the calamari appetizer was very good. Service is also good.
Nice bar with drinks on the high side.
Depending on business in the overall free public parking after 6p is available in non-prime dining out evenings otherwise there is a pay lot right in front.
I like to go here for happy hour or for "date night". It's a little pricey for my budget just to go out to eat for no reason, (for that I choose Dick's!). The girls are all 10's and yes, the bar is always full of men.
If you ever get bad service here it's not the restaurants fault and I would never give them a bad rating for it. It seems like they strive to please but sometimes people get busy. Those who complain about not getting paid any attention to need to go somewhere that isn't so popular. This place can get packed and it's not fair to expect to have your server at your beckon call every 2 minutes.
I've indulged in their wedge salad (MMM!), salmon & steak (MMM..MMM..MMMMMM!) and some of their app's on the HH menu.
For your first time, go for happy hour and take advantage of the discounts, but don't be mad if your service is slow. That's what happens when a place is packed.
Okay, the wait staff here is gorgeous. Not only that, they are remarkably intelligent, and very friendly. We also had a chance to dine outside and watch the sunset. Did I mention that the wait staff was gorgeous?
What amazed me beyond the looks of all of them, was their customer service. It was hands down the best I've experienced. From sitting at the bar, to being transferred to our table, to answering questions without hesitation about items on the menu.
"What is basa?" Without a flinch, the waitress rattled off what kind of fish it is, how it's prepared, what it's similar to, etc.
"What kind of juice do you have?" Without hesitation, about 5 juices were named in under 5 seconds.
When being transferred from bar to tables, we werent asked to close out so that the girl could get her tip. She got a $20 directly from me simply because of this.
Now, on the other hand, the food was nothing special. Mediocre at best. It's an american bar/bistro.. I dont expect it to have great food, and well Joey's lived up to that...
The tough spot for me is that I loved the service, but the food is lacking.. What to rate, oh what to rate... Yay! I'm a fan.
