tried Joey's based on positive notes here on Yelp.  Tried a variety of veggie friendly items -- cheese slice, baked ziti, spinach roll.  Also ordered (and paid for a salad) -- didn't realize it at the time but I never received that salad.  I had way too much food anyways so I didn't notice.

Ziti was good, mainly flavored by the sauce.  Pasta was a little more al dente that I expected, but it was all around good, not overwhelmed with cheese.

Spinach roll was good -- not a standout like I expected, but good.  Believe the spinach was fresh, not frozen.

Cheese slice was very solid - maybe a little over cooked on the re-heat, crispier that I expected from a NY style shop (the fold over wouldn't have worked), but I enjoyed it.

I still think that Angelo's Pizza Picnic in Antioch is the best authentic style pizza in town - especially their lunch buffet with the lasagna or sausage/peppers which is a bargain at under $8.  But Joey's is a solid authentic pizza shop that I'll be sure to visit when I'm in the area.

Some days you want to go to a resturaunt and be catered to. You want them to wait on you and make sure your needs are met. You want that? Don't come here.

Expect a lot of  "what do you want?" and "the guy with the red socks hat, whoever you are, your food is getting cold so come and get it or my dog has a meal"

It is endearing, and if you don't like it I'm telling you now eat here anyway because the food is pretty dang good. I love calzones and theirs are good. I just like kitchen sink style. Throw what you can in it and I'll eat it. It's not the best pizza I've ever had, but it's far up there. The other reviewers are correct, I didn't know what I wanted but they weren't rude about it I was just like "pick something and I'll eat it" and they did and I liked it. Done, and Done.

Eat here, you'll like it if you have a sense of humor.

The pizza here is pretty good - a lot better than most - but the canned mushrooms are pure blasphemy.  Some find their "hey you, what do you want?" attitude endearing, I find it annoying.  If you go during lunch, expect to wait for your food.

Don't expect any hospitality here.  The pizza is pretty good compared to the rest of what's around though.

Joey's House of Pizza is as good as it gets in Nashville. I'm from NYC and i've been through my share of Pizzas and Italian Food.

The Staff is wonderful especially Stefani whos right at the counter taking your order. If you are venturing other than a slice of Pizza try the Italian Sausage, Pepper, Onion Roll. Its one of the best i've had hands down.

Know what you want before you get in line. The Maccas tell it like it is.

I Love Joeys!

I know NY pizza, and this is good NY pizza.  His brother, who has a pizza shop downtown, also makes awesome pizza.  Don't come here if you're on a diet...and don't stand at the counter unsure of what to eat.  If you know what you want, and don't complain, the people there are some of the best people I've gottent o talk to at a restaurant before.  The whole stereotype of NYC'ers (and they ARE from there) being rude is bunk....and they can prove it to you here!

While I cannot argue about the great quality of the food.  My wife got ripped off by the cashier here.  She purchased a slice of cheese and a small salad, 2.49 each.  She was charged $8.50.  When she pointed it out, she was argued with and insulted.

Go for the food, leave for the poor service.

Let's face it. Da Vinci's was better back in the day, when the owners were a married couple and she pretty much ran the place. Pizza Perfect is sometimes okay, sometimes good, and sometimes awful, depending on whether the owner/head chef farms all the duties out to some Lipscomb students who could care less or a church set who don't care at all. Domino's does deliver, but that's about it. For anyone who's had real, thin crust pizza in New York City, Joey's is the real deal. My first meal there, I ordered a plain cheese pizza - my test. As I watched the steaming cheese slipping around on the perfect thin crust, I looked at my companion with tears in my eyes. No, really. It was that good, to know that finally, someone in Nashville was making pizza the old-fashioned way.
Okay, the salad is forgettable at best. Okay, some of the toppings leave a great deal to be desired. But if you want a real NY pizza fix, this is the place.
As to people complaining about the service - it's "Joey's Pizza". Not "Joey's Italian Delicacies." Not "Joey's Gourmet Pizza." You won't find lobster pizza here, no sir. Just great, basic, New York style pizza.

I had a great experience at Joey's House of Pizza.  Tucked away in a Brentwood shopping center, it's one of the best places to get NY style pizza slices.  I hadn't eaten all day, so I was starving when we went in for dinner.  My ambitious eyes had its sights set on two slices of stuffed Pepperoni Pizza (with Sausage, Pepperoni, and Ham inside).  When they came out, and I got to see them up close I realized I might have been a little overzealous.  The cashier looked at my meal and then at me and said "You know you don't have to eat both of those."  She could tell they were a bit too much for me, both in size and price.  I obliged, and walked away with just one of the slices, which turned out to be more than enough.  I was really impressed with how they put the customer first, and didn't try to up-sell me on something I didn't want or need.  And the food was delicious.  Next time I'm in Brentwood, I'm going to go back and grab another slice.

Very good pizza.  In the Nashville area, I like it better than Mellow Mushroom, Davincci's, Pizza Perfect (though all are good too).  Since I've only ordered traditional toppings, I'm not sure if I can compare Joey's to Christopher's or CPK.  The ingredients are fresh, and they are not stingy with the toppings.  Try the Joe's special, and ask for the knot bread--but beware, one slice if usually a meal-enough for me.  The hours make it a little hard to get to, but well worth it.
