Pretty good and decently priced - even for Mill Valley. I usually just get my staple Chicken Burrito and they do a good job of it.
Verdict - a solid 4 stars. Not as good as Papalote, but better than most.
Warning - it does get pretty busy around dinner time on most nights and its cozy in there
Sometimes the only thing to do after a long hike is to get a little loaded.
This is what I tried to do at Joe's since after my first mile on a 6 mile trek into muir woods I got a craving for some tequila.
Unfortunately, this place is not what you would call authentic. Due to the limits on their liquor license the margaritas are made with agave wine. While this is very resourceful it is equally disappointing. Don't get me wrong I drank two and sampled the tofu tostada (a mexican classic right?) which was actually pretty good. I was very excited about my 5 big slices of avocado and the tofu was generous and fried in a chipotle flavored bread crumb. I opted out for the mansalita because it sounded like a mexican mayonnaise nightmare.
Also beware, when you start to order your meal you will be asked if you'd like an "order" of chips and salsa, sort of a preemptive "do you want fries with that", but for $2 its worth it.
The food comes out very quickly and everyone seemed to be breaking their necks over the burritos about the size of the muir woods redwoods but 10 times the calories no doubt.
So if you want some nosh and a mediocre Margarita visit Joe's but don't expect a real mexican meal.
P.S. They also serve hot dogs wrapped in bacon (WTF?)
Well, what can I say?
Visited Joe's while I was in the area after seeing it on a TV "special" featuring Rachel Ray in the Bay Area. Also tried Fish in Sausalito based on that show and I wasn't very impressed with that place either and I wrote a separate review on that experience.
Back to Joe's, I've driven by the place dozens of times in the past. It's kinda hard to spot behind a big tree that blocks it's sign visibility on the street in the commercial zone near Tam High and had to pull into a gas station to ask directions. It's in a cute little building and is decorated in cute Latino colors w/bottles of hot sauce on the walls. Tables surround a u-shaped counter in the center. It was very busy with a lot of quick turnover. We were greeted by a friendly older waitress who I thought might be an owner. Service was good, if perfunctory.
My GF & I ordered the tortilla/chicken soup and prawn and crab tacos. The soup was small but pretty good with lots of shredded chicken in it, but they also shredded the tortilla chips which I thought was odd - full sized chips would have been better, then again, they may not have fit in the small bowl.
The tacos "looked" good, but lacked flavor -- as did the salsa accompanying the chips, which we both thought was odd. I guess you're supposed to add some of the hot sauce off of the wall to spice up your food, but I'm use to having my tacos spiced without having to do that.
But I don't think it's a good thing that I couldn't taste any crab or shrimp in either of the tacos. Never had a "bland" taco before and this was the first. Besides that the taco were not cheap - $7.50 a plate for 2. There's an authentic Mexican restaurant in Brentwood that sells tacos for only $1.50-2.00 each and they certainly don't lack flavor. So, both the taste and cost must be geared to the Mill Valley crowd that's willing to accept the former and pay for the latter.
It wasn't awful and I'd give it 2.5 stars, but since you can't give 1/2 stars on Yelp, it gets only 2 stars (for "meh, I've experienced better") from me and I don't think I'll ever stop by there again for any reason.
Joe's is wonderful. The only downside is the sometimes-long wait to be seated, but I wouldn't trade that for the cozy atmosphere. Their salsa is addictive and their weekend specials are usually inventive but always yummy. They add a bit of charm with the copious amounts of hot sauce lining the walls where it's not uncommon for patrons to excuse their reach as they find the spice of their choice.
I like the chips and salsa, and hey, + a beer and ain't that half the meal? Also had the tacos, and they were, eh, just ok - a good value for the price, but not sure why there's so much water leaking out the back end when I tipped them.
This is the restaurant where I met my wife. I really like the food there and the it has a home feel to it. It is also easy on the wallet. When I go now the place is packed and I have to wait for a seat, but it is worth it. Good food.
The fish tostada is incredible. The setting is a lot of fun and easy going.
The food is not the best mexican in the bay area, but for some reason I find myself craving Joes at least once a week. I adore the tofu tostada, the black bean soup, and the fish tacos are always a hit. The margaritas, though made with agave wine are so delicious, I never miss the tequila.
Yum yum yum!
I heard about this place through the grapevine, and was like "it ain't in the city but hey, I'll give it a try!" Anywhere with rumors of delicious Mexican food is just too tempting.
The four of us got there a bit late on Thursday evening, only about 10 minutes before closing. They were super nice and not all "wtf are you doing here i want to go HOME!" which was a good feeling, being a server myself.
Our server Carlos was super chill, waiting while we girlishly debated between beer, and while we ordered what seemed to be the whole menu.
We got the super nachos to start. Nothing to write home about but great nonetheless, and MUCH more cheese than the traditional nacho plate! And I love my cheese, so I love Joe's.
I had the tortilla soup that was much better than expected, especially since I was unimpressed with my chicken taquitos, sorry Joe's.
My friends had the chicken torta, much more Americanized than I thought but again, oozing with cheesy goodness! Too bad the fries were a bit old tasting, but maybe thats what you get at the end of the night? Bummer.
We also had the crab tostada, chock full of shredded crab, and the carne asada tacos, similar to street tacos.
The walls were lined with hot sauces, but we were never asked if we wanted any or anything else that led us to believe they should have "salseria" in their name.
I'm still a bit confused on that part, but overall very satisfied with the meal. If I'm ever in the area, I'd go back!
Mmmm fish tacos!
Joe's is bright and cheerful, with bottles of hot sauce and kitschy paintings of Mexican scenes decorating the walls. The food is sort of a combination of chippy and taqueria - the fish tacos come with a tartar-sauce-esque mayo, which lends them a unique deliciousness.
The service is also awesome and so chill. Sofia, the girl who served us at the counter, was so cute and friendly.
I will definitely be back next time I want late night (for Marin) tacos.
I came through Mill Valley once some months back and got a to-go order of chicken tortilla soup that was pretty tasty. I went back last night with the boyfriend for a sit-in meal this time, and found it decent, but lackluster. We ordered the very tasty nachos with monterey jack (although the Texas-native boyfriend originally wanted queso dip), which was great.
Boyfriend had the sloppy jose, which wasn't very sloppy and which he thought was tasty, but not as heavy on sauce as he expected. I had the carnitas tacos which were also pretty good, although I had tried to ask the waiter if their tacos were street-style and he really wasn't able to tell me-- I might have ordered something different if I had known (like the soup).
Still and all, a decent meal, but nothing special food-wise. In terms of ambience, it's mildly noisy, brightly-colored, and very casual, so if that's the mood you're in, the locale's decent.
But it can be pretty tough to park-- almost all the spots nearby are reserved for Whole Foods.
I really wanted to like this place after hearing good things about it from other locals, and the decor was promising (cute little place with lots of color, fun barstools around the center bar, hot sauce lined up along the walls).
Unfortunately, the food was disgusting. I ordered the daily special - which turned out to be the nasty chicken they were probably just trying to get rid of. They served it to me still raw in the middle, and I sent it back to be cooked some more. When it came back, it looked good and I was so excited to try it, but most of it was FAT. EEEEEW. The rice and beans were flavorless, and the guacamole also needed salt and spice.
I am starting to realize Marinites are pretty easily impressed with anything that is overpriced and lacks authenticity - and that explains why this place is popular. I hate to sound like a craggy customer, but ICK - I will never eat here again. My husband is a fine dining chef who LOVES Mexican or any spicy, fun, comfort food and he ate less than half of his food... trust me, that never happens.
Again, ICK!
Great place to get soup, they have a black bean soup that rocks - make sure you add avocados. very nice employees and great service.
their chicken tostada is also very delicious.
Joe's is one of my favorite places. It is a charming little place with lots of character and an absolutely wonderful staff. The food is killer and the Super Nachos with chicken and the Quesadilla with chicken of beef are my favorites. The meat melts in your mouth. There is no hard liquor for margaritas, but the beer and wine is excellent. Strongly recommend it!
Awful. I made the mistake of eating here as my birthday lunch. I felt ripped-off and disappointed.
The only thing other than soup and salad and nachos that was vegetarian and under $14 was their "Market Vegetable" line... tacos, burritos, etc.
It was just sad, getting a taco seriously with 1/4 inch of standing water on the plate, no cheese, lots of iceberg lettuce. I sent that back, totally out of character but I had to! I couldn't eat it, and got their "nachos". I have been all over Mexico from the north down to Oaxaca, and have never seen this dreck! Just plain, poorly melted white cheese, and the most bland "salsa" I have ever had in my life. Chevy's is better, god, that's pathetic.
Stay away from here if you're a vegetarian! Go across the street to Mama's. I felt like I got hit in the mouth with blandness and my wallet pilfered. I wish I had eaten at taco bell. At least they wouldn't have charged 25 bucks for 1 plain cheese corn quesadilla, 1 plate of sad nachos, 1 diet coke, and 1 small side of sour cream and guacamole. If this place were south of the bridge, they would be out of business, only being able to survive in a place with nothing to compare it to.
That being said, our waitress was nice which prevented us from walking out. We seriously stayed because we didn't want to be rude to her. She tried really hard and even she said that the Market Vegetable tacos were not the best thing on the menu. She had one recommendation for vegetarians, but it was for a huge plate that cost 15 dollars, in retrospect maybe I should have gone that way. I felt like she was embarrassed, I certainly was for the restaurant.
Also embarrassing too because my wife had a few good experiences here a few years ago. What happened??? Easily the worst experience I've had all year, and that's all across the country from 4 stars to fast food.
Very nice stuffed jalapeno, if you are into that kind of stuff and I am!
Nice chill atmosphere to hang out.
Joe's got it right with dem grilled fish tacos.
it really is a lounge - for it's laid back service and quirky decor.
and it really is salsa - because everything in there is super festive, including their delish salsa! (i personally liked that their salsa was dry, instead of dripping with from-the-can tomato juice)
and most of all, joe knows his tacos - because everything else just wasn't as thoughtful or delicious. stick with the fish tacos and you can't go wrong. juicy. tender. oozing with special secret sauce. and above all, FRESH!!
beat the dinner crowd and show up before 7pm for a seat at the bar or snag a table for two outside.
Good reliable fresh Mexican. Ask for the salsa negra. They have lots of healthy dishes and can make substitutions. Delicious!
My Girlfriend Connie C. and myself were strolling around the beautiful city nestled below the beautiful Mount Tamalpais! This place is fun and tacolish..... I recommend the fish tacos, and snapper burrito! The atmosphere is a lively as well as colorful! The place kinda reminds me of a 50 style diner! While you visiting get some chips and salsa for a little variety! Well... my friendly Marin yelpers I'll be talking to you soon!!
Take your dog to tacos!! Sure, pups love the multi-culti smells of the Mission better, but they're usually not welcome inside even the dive-iest joints. It's different in Marin, where FiFi is welcome even where it's chi-chi. Thanks to Joe's Taco Lounge, you don't have to choose--they've been around forever and I was happy to visit them again last week after eight years of living on the peninsula.
Joe's combines the Mission's funky charm with Marin's outdoor lifestyle...you can eat inside, outside, or on the bench by the doggie dish filled with water. The stuffed burritos will rock your world without breaking your bank. Just like the Mission cousins, they're jam packed with succulent meats, stringy cheese, and are usually good for two meals. Or, if you're with your dog, make that a meal for two.
So this review was really hard for me to write, because I wanted to seriously write the best review ever. Picture this: we're back from Bora Bora for our honeymoon where all we did was eat, swim and lay out - and now it's time to see everything in SF possible before I leave for Obama's house. So I drag my poor husband to Muir beach to go hiking in the cold - he was not so thrilled. How do I reward such a trooper?
With a trip to Joe's Taco Lounge.
I actually got the recommendation for this place from Rachel Ray's Tasty Travels (I know, her boobs are like eggs, but she's got some good picks!) and we even ordered what she suggested.
1) Corn bread stuffed chile relleno - why the hell would you ever eat anything else? A succulent pepper stuff with homemade corn bread with jalapeno and Monterey jack cheese. Pepper is then grilled and placed on a bed of tomatillo sauce, topped with red pepper sauce. It's so good, we fought over the last bites.
That's until the tofu tostada came out...
2) Tofu Tostada - layers, beans, cripsy tortilla, COLE SLAW!, bbq tofu, pico de gallo and avocado. Now, I cannot understand why such simple ingredients would taste so good, but it did! I can still literally taste this in my mouth.
I so wish there was a Joe's Taco Lounge here and everywhere.
Please see pics - food was so good I took pictures...
A good memory: it was really rainy out and some friends and I had gone into eat. Just then the power went out and all the salsas and brightly-colored tablecloths were dark. The waiter came out and apologized and said he couldn't sell us food with no power. He could, though, sell us buckets of Negra Modelo. So we sat there for hours, drinking bucket after bucket of beer, watching tree branches and such waft down Miller Avenue.
I miss Joe's a lot. I know better Mexican probably exists in this world, I know more "authentic" Mexican exists in this world, but you've got to hand it to these guys for doing what they do well, and not changing it up. Mill Valley has seen a lot of family-style sit-down Mexican restaurants come and suck and go (Cactus, Cantina). Say what you will, their menu has some real gems: the fish tacos, the black bean soup with fresh avo, the Mexican popcorn, the flauta.
And they have great shirts.
What a treat to find such a fun, funky and friendly Mexican joint in Marin. Indoor and outside seating. Order the hotter salsa if you like some fire. The regular house salsa is fresh but bland for my taste, but was others at my table prefer less heat. They do charge for them but the quality was there. The guacamole was exceptional, butter Haas avocados freshly smashed.
The place isn't big. Our table for six was cozy.
They only serve wine and beer. But they came up with this wine based margarita wish was really tasty and refreshing.
The cornbread stuffed roasted chili is outstanding. Around our table the fish tacos and crab meat dishes were a hit.
We will definitely be back next year.
My Boyfriend and I live so close we decided that we wanted to try the infamous Joe's Taco Lounge. Being Mexicans, we realized right off the bat this was very very American-Mexican food. Cute decorations... that's about it, we were surprised to find Bufalo hot sauce, our favorite.
Any restaurant that charges money for chips and salsa must not have great food if they feel like they need to make ends meet by charging for something every restaurant gives out for free.
Its like in France where the bread and butter on the table is charged on your bill if you touch it!
Joe's Taco lounge is a joke and I would never spend my money there again, okay food with pretty hefty prices, for TACOS?! they should be cheap!
No recommendation from me.
It's been a while since I ate at Joe's - which is surprising, since the times I stopped in here, I've enjoyed the food. So much so, I even bought a t-shirt from there. So while on an excursion to REI, I popped in for yet another burrito lunchfest. And I've got three words for you.
Mahi-mahi burrito.
Okay, that's technically two and a half words. I'm not sure how hyphenated words count these days. But that's not the point - the point is a very tasty burrito, which is made all the better by snagging one of the many hot sauce options to go along with it.
Okay, it's not "authentic" - it's definitely a gringorito, but it was still tasty and filling. A little pricey, but that's to be expected in Mill Valley. The dining room itself was pretty loud and infested with douchey rich kids from Tam High - but again, kinda to be expected in Mill Valley. Service was a bit slow, as the waitress behind the bar seemed more interested in hanging out with her friends than working - don't get me wrong, she was friendly and nice, just not very efficient.
All in all, it's a decent burrito spot that suffers a little from it's location. If you're snagging to go, I'd give it four stars, but for eating in it slides to three.
Back to try the fish tacos and was not disappointed in the least! Sat at the counter since it was just moi. Great place to people watch, but being a bit short, once seated, the reach to my plate was a bit of a stretch.
One order of Ensenada fish tacos brings 2 good sized fish tacos to one's place. It comes with fresh salsa, grated cabbage, not out of the plastic bag kind, I can always tell. Again the habanero mayonnaise did it justice. The fish pieces were nicely fried, not oily and good sized 3-4 inch long pieces. One order was PLENTY for me! AND it was under $7.00!
I'll be back :)

This is such a fun place to eat!
Such a colorful, festive, visual place. The walls are covered with… Read more »
The perfect meal after a drizzly hike in Muir Woods: the Snapper Tostada with guacamole and a coffee. The pile of protein (black beans and fish) with salsa negra and cabbage completely satisfied my raging post-hike hunger, and the hot coffee warmed my core.
And, from the large selection of hot sauces lining the interior wall (conveniently located above each table), I discovered a new favorite hot sauce: Melinda's Garlic Habanero Pepper Sauce. I really appreciated the large array of hot sauces. I usually expect Mexican food restaurants to offer just the basics, Cholula and Tapatio and maybe some type of chipotle, and the variety was a pleasant surprise.
I would definitely come back after our next Sunday Funday hike.
Hiking up Mt. Tam worked up an appetite, so we decided to grab a bite to eat at Joe's. We were told the grilled snapper tacos were their specialty, so we got those and a grilled snapper burrito. I had the burrito, and it totally hit the spot. The fish was nice and flaky, and the burrito was big enough to last for two meals.
The wall is lined with every type of salsa you can imagine (I don't think I've ever been to another salsaria before), but you should really ask for some of the fresh salsas they have in the kitchen. Our server brought out two hot salsas, one of which was the coral snake sauce, this orange sauce that was muy caliente!
Joe's also serves up pizzas and burgers, which seem decent, but I'd stick to the grilled fish tacos or burrito. They're famous for a reason!
I love spicy, authentic Mexican. I just moved to the San Rafael area and asking around, I ended up here because of raves about how good and spicy the food is. Sadly, I found it to be lacking in both good and spicy. The chips and salsa - at $2 (wtf?) - sucked. Chips were kind of stale and the salsa had absolutely NO flavor. The (incredibly greasy) chicken tacos were also incredibly bland, as was the carne asada tacos. All of my spicy (and flavor) came from a bottle on the table. That's seriously just not right.
I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
Hadn't been to this place in years, but was in town and decided to give it a try, hopeful that one of the pickiest burrito connoisseurs I've ever met would find it acceptable. It's not that he's picky, probably just spoiled from having lived in the Mission. Close proximity to Papalote would probably spoil anyone. But anyway, if you're a purist, then the Taco Lounge probably isn't for you.
But if you find yourself in Mill Valley looking for somewhat quick food on a Sunday evening, then definitely stop by. The tortilla chips are fresh (though they do cost extra) and they offer a dizzying array of salsa, so they have that going for them. I got the carne asada tostada salad, which was more mountainous than a salad should be (and they don't skimp on the meat, to say the least). It was definitely more meat than salad.
As for the burrito...boyfriend only ate about three quarters of it, which I've actually never seen happen, so I can only guess it didn't pass the test. Apparently it had poor distribution of ingredients so the steak was at the end of the burrito, the beans in the middle and the cheese toward the top as the first thing he bit into. Oh well, can't please everyone. I can vouch for my tostada, though. Very tasty.
But anyway...they have quite an extensive menu here, even offering pizzas and sandwiches. So anyone can find something that will make them happy. I can see why this is the default dinner destination in Mill Valley.
OMG - I can't believe anyone has given this taco bar LESS tan 5 stars! Of all the quickie Mexican/taco places for take-out, this is the very best! When we first discovered it I think we ate it 5 days in a row, it was sooo good! (and we've had take out from Joe's at least 2 dozen times since)
The enchiladas, corn cakes with black salsa, and kids "make your own" tostadas/tacos are absolute favorites. They even have real guacamole with chunks and don't add sour cream to stretch it like some quickie places. Yum!
If you're comparing this place to fancy sit-down type Mexican restaurants, then I could see maybe giving it less than 5 stars, as it is quite tiny and doesn't have great ambiance. However this is a taco bar - a quickie Mexican food place, NOT a fancy sit-down type place.
We always get Joe's to go and compared to any of the other quickie & to-go type places, this place can't be beat!
Fire grilled corn on the cob and some amazing sauce they serve in a squeeze bottle! :)
I get the shrimp tacos with extra sauce. YUM!!!
And for those of you who remember what life was like when you didn't have any responsibilities (and you could risk a quick trip to the ER), they have the most amazing hot sauce collection I've ever seen since my days at Netcentives. Go ahead, ask them to try the hottest one they've got.
I'd have to say that Joe's is just OK. I like that it's open relatively late - for Mill Valley that is - and the sangria is fine. I was disappointed they don't serve margaritas, charge for chips and salsa and the service we've experienced has been horrible! It's very loud inside but I suppose that's part of the charm. In terms of food - they serve below average spice-less gringo burritos, the fish tacos are fine and the corn cake is actually kinda gross. I'd say go across the road to Grilly's or better yet head to the Mission in SF!
White people making "Mexican" food. Call me superficial, but like the town, Joe's Taco Lounge lacks in authenticity and diversity.
Diarrhea. I only had it once from eating here. Yes, I had the fish tacos.
Beers. I occasionally enjoy sitting at the wrap around counter while stuffing my face with chips. No salsa, it seems rather fuzzy and fermented.
Aging orange and red salsa bottles line the inside perimeter of this restaurant. Ironman triathletes strut their shaven calf muscles, business people who've just stepped off the #4 bus and families with golden-haired children are usually the ones sighted through the windows of this small restaurant with no liquor license.
I find the fare here tiresome and the fish overly fishy to the point that it smells like green bathroom cleaner.
Nice pit stop after a wind swept hike on Mt. Tam. Had a craving for Joe's famous fish tacos, which they have an option of 2 to choose from ~ marinated grilled, and fried.
Walking in, I was delighted by the festive ambiance and the line up of hot sauce along the wall. Was great to pull a few off the shelf to try with my tacos and chips-salsa-guac.
Service friendly and with a smile.
If i could give this place a MILLION stars, i would. I love this place. Just crossing the bridge makes me salivate for Joes.
This is what you order:
Chips and Guac. Then get the Chipotle Hot Sauce and mix it in the guacamole.
A Negro Modelo -- which they, without hesitation give you a decent sized lime and glass. THANK YOU.
Tofu Tostada (or Snapper Tostada). The you eat it.... and you love it... and you enjoy it... and you are happy and full.
You can also order the Prawn Tacos. Hell, order anything.
I love this place. Maybe I'm biased because I always go after riding, and I might be a little hypoglycemic and salt deprived, but I'm pretty sure I would marry this place if it were a man.
And be nice to my favorite bus boy -- he only works on the weekends.
This place is our second kitchen... we eat here 3-4 days a week and love every minute of it. The ingredients are super fresh and the food is consistently delicious. The staff is great... Rico, Gabe... they are nearly family at this stage. I don't know what I would do without Joes.
This place epitomizes "quirky"--bright colors, funky knick-knacks, and that massive bar in the middle. I really dig it. It's very warm and welcoming, as are the servers.
As others have mentioned, Joe's can get packed, but there's quick turnover, thanks to the speedy service. And there are benches where you can wait outside. Or you could just take it to go and enjoy the beautiful Marin weather. It seems like it's always sunny and warm here!
This is my favorite place to stop on the way to or from somewhere-- Muir Woods, Muir Beach, Stinson Beach, Mt. Tam, etc. The food is filling and fresh, but not heavy or too greasy. Just right.
Dishes I've really liked in the past include the plantains and the fish tacos.
Joe's is pretty much insane.
Joe's has been a staple in my life for a long time. I have known Joe (who passed away in 2003) since I was a toddler, he and his family are very close to mine. As such I have been coming to Joe's for a long time, and I even worked there for 2 years back in the late 90s.
Thus, I have watched it change over the years, but at the same time, so much has not changed. Joe's consistently serves up great Mexican food, with a traditional bent. Joe was a consummate lover of good food and in our travels to Mexico he was always looking for the right taco, the right salsa, the right style of carnitas. When he thought he found it all he brought it all home to Mill Valley where it became an instant hit.
All of the salsas are home made (there are hundreds of bottles of commercial salsas in a ring around the restaurant, to be used by all, but all the salsas that are served by the kitchen are fresh). The pizza dough (yes, Joe's has pizza was serious south-of-the-border bent) is homemade with a wonderful corn meal crust.
The decor itself is like walking into the living room of a Mexican Elvis, or any luchador who has hit the big time. Joe's wife has a done an incredible job decorating the place, and its very shiny and captivating. With such classic icons as a Virgin of Guadalupe and velvet paintings of bull fighters, you know you are in the Mexican Mecca.
Ok, lets get to the food. The specialty of the house are the Ensenada Fish Tacos. These are strips of snapper that are breaded and then fried to a crisp. Served with a spicy aioli, fresh salsa negra and lettuce on a corn tortilla - amen. Joe's features a grilled snapper fish taco, a healthier alternative to the fried version, and it is very good. But if you are at Joe's, then throw it all out the window and go Ensenada.
One of my favorite dishes the is Tofu Tostada. The tofu is decidedly NOT authentic to the Mexican idea, but Joe's still pulls it off. Think friend, crispy Tofu served on a tostada with shredded cabbage, salsa, guacamole, cilantro, oh boy very divine - and maybe one of the healthiest items on the menu.
Joe's can get packed, but the service is very fast so turnover is quick.
As a whole, you cannot go wrong with Joe's. It is a true Mexican experience.
I consider myself a stickler when it comes to tacos. I love em! I love tacos traditionaly, messy, spicy, sweet, anyway!
I was referred to Joe's Taco Lounge by a friend who also has a sharing love of tacos. I went there on my lunch break one day and found the little gem tucked away in downtown area of Mill Valley. My first thought was as to what I wanted to sample. I chose my fall back favorite or two carnitas tacos and continued to munch on chips and salsa and took a look around the lovely and eclectic variety of decor.
My tacos came and I was happy, but somewhat dissapointed...a little small and not so flavorful. It might have been my choice of what I wanted to try, but not my favorite.
I have a plan to return soon, but would definately choose something other than what was before.
Be sure to grab one of the many hot sauces around the room! There are plenty!!
