A year ago, we only went to Cabin Sushi for All You Can Eat. But we were tired of their service. And their mediocre food.

We had never tried Joe's before - like many others, the name was kind of off-putting to us. We laughed when we drove by. But after too many bad experiences at Cabin, we pulled into their rock parking lot.

We were yelled at when we opened the door - not in the bad way you might be thinking. The manager/owner (who seems to only be there in the evenings) hollers out random Japanese phrases at you when you come in. I was a little shocked at first, and then I laughed. He gave us the nicest greeting we'd ever gotten at a restaurant. Genuine excitement for us to be there - and a warm handshake.

The service is relatively quick for an AYCE place - I feel like we get our sushi in good time, especially if we give them our order for the next round before we're done with the current one. Drink refills come rapidly too (the glasses are huge so they don't need to be refilled that often - which is always a good thing).

Ambiance and environment is great here. They always have music playing, style depends on the time and day you go I guess - we've been in there with traditional asian music, and also current R&B/dance hits, when the sushi chefs were wearing pimp hats. It's always exciting.

The food is great for an AYCE. I've had the occasional bad roll - but its usually really good. My favorite is the Shrimp Tempura roll and the Philly Roll. Much better than any other AYCE I've been too.

The boss-man remembers you if you come in often - we get free rolls or dessert brought to our table frequently. He comes around and chats with you and makes sure you have everything you need. So do all the waiters. And even if you need something they don't realize, they're always really easy to flag down - the place is very intimate.

Overall, love it - will not go to another sushi place any time soon! They're my go-to when I'm craving sushi!

I seldom consider ambiance much of an important factor when reviewing a restaurant but am making an exception with Joe's Sushi.  If you come here for a birthday or a big party you'll most definitely have one one of the funnest times at a Sushi restaurant that you'll ever have.. IN LIFE, j/k.  But seriously, if there's a birthday in your party then get ready!

I'm not much of a sushi eater but I love what Joe's has to offer.  Their Volcano roll is amazing.  They are also responsible for my new love:  mussels.  Bonus pts for them!  I've come here for a couple of birthdays.  Sometimes the manager and/or the waiters will give us free drinks, one the chefs will prepare something special, or the infamous beer bong will be brought out.  It's such a fun filled and energetic environment that it's merely impossible to not have a great time.  I really don't know any place other than a bar or club where you can have THAT much fun.  A+ for hospitality.

Note: The place can get loud, so if you're not ready for a night of fun and laughter then you should probably consider going elsewhere.

The saving grace for Joe's is the owner and service.  As for the food, I can't take all-u-can-eat places seriously.  If you're a knock-out artist in terms of food, then you shouldn't need gimmicks to get people through the door.  Let's face it, all-u-can-eat is a gimmick.  Do you see this ever happening at Nobu?

So let's translate that last paragraph.  Joe's is a great place to hang out and carouse on a weekend night, if you're in Riverside.  I wouldn't suggest you make it a destination spot if you're a resident of Riverside.  You can go to Alberto's, Yoshinoya, InNOut or Panda Express in your town.

I've been here 3 times and each time there was something off.  Fish quality isn't average to good, just average.  Nigiri is a deal-breaker.  So is parking on loose gravel.  Park on the street if you can.  The park side can get hairy if the shut the lights out on the basketball court early.

Beam me up...

Wow, what a drive! From Irvine to Riverside, I spent $4.75 on the toll roads and sat in the 91 freeway for a good 40 minutes in traffic just to eat AYCE in Riverside.  Why the treacherous trek? Only one reason for me: Free Food. Okay, one more...my best friend, Kathy.  Our friend Mike has been holding off on taking us out to eat, so finally, we made a decision to go meet in Riverside for sushi.  Was it worth it? It was okay.  This place would have been a 3-star rating, but I couldn't help to remember how bouncy and friendly the owner was.  He genuinely wanted to get to know us and all of his other customers.  So, it was a packed night last night. Hella poppin' with some great tunes and crowds of people just waiting to eat some of Joe's sushi.  Make sure you come here on your birthday and enjoy some free green tea ice cream on the house.

Getting there: (3 stars) Parking sucks. I hate parking on loose gravel.  However, this place is easy to find with their bright lights off Magnolia.

Inside: (3 1/2 Stars) Restroom to your right, only one stalled restroom, so be prepared when you have to go. It's quite roomy for people to move around.  Great for parties of 4+.  Would be nice if they have seating for 2 as well.

Service: (4 1/2 stars) Everyone on staff is on top of everything and always have a smiling face.  They are there to entertain, serve and make your experience enjoyable. Remember to check what you ordered. They forgot to bring out 1 order so we had to point it out to them.

Food:  (4 stars) Food was pretty decent considering that it was AYCE.  Some of these yelpers are complaining about how much rice was thrown in their rolls and sushi, but I didn't get ENOUGH rice in my sushi.  The fish were pretty small, though, but I didn't mind since it was AYCE.

Overall Experience: 3 + 3.5 + 4.5 + 4 = 15/4 = 3.75 Stars

If I ever come back to Riverside and I'm craving for sushi, I'll definitely go back to Joe's!

The boss hooked us up! He gave us a lot of beer and sake! YAY! The workers are young kids who probably go to UCR. The food was delicious. I liked it a lot. They also gave the birthday boy some green tea ice cream. This place is hip and lively. You'll have fun here.

My family has been going to Joe's sushi for quite a few years now. At first, the sushi was terrific! Good quality fish with awesome service. As time went on, the volume of customers increased significantly. As a result, it seems the quality of the fish dropped. I still like this place, especially since the manager is awesome and gives regulars free drinks.  I give the food 2 stars and the environment 4 stars.

On a side note, they have the BEST red dragon rolls and albacore!

Believe it or not, this was probably my first sushi experience.  Back then, there were not too many of them as there are now.

This place was amazing back then.  Loud as hell and the chefs were really entertaining and they remembered you!

Now it is not like it was, or perhaps this is because I am more experienced in sushi.  Still a nice little place.  The parking is pretty bad and they open late.

RICE and lots of it.

I have been here on several occasions and each time there is a huge crowd, inside and outside the place. People are eating, drinking, or waiting to get a seat. Music up and loud, and since I said loud, this place is LOUD. Definitely not a place to take someone for an intimate date. But definitely a place to have a party.

While you are waiting for your table or if you're paying your bill up front, you could take a look at all the pictures on the wall. There's  A LOT, considering that there is no empty space on that wall. And as you can tell from these pictures as well as the crowd, this place seems like the place to be for a good time.

As for the food, it's pretty A-OK. Why? Remember I said RICE earlier? Well there is a lot of it. This all you can eat sushi place has your typical menu of rolls, and sometimes they'll serve you rolls off the menu, or even requests, but all the rolls have LOTS AND LOTS of rice. I honestly feel jipped when I could have eaten more of my money's worth.

I say come here for a good time, but don't come here if you're looking for some great quality sushi that's worth all that money you spend on AYCE (all you can eat).

I've heard a lot about this place from various friends over the last year and have been meaning to give them a try.  Well after getting a 90% promo code from http://Restaurants.com, I decided I would give it a try for lunch. To my enjoyment I am glad to say that I told my sushi chef who waited hand and foot on me, "Amazing!".  I even went to shake his hand before realizing he was gloved but he did fist pump me so that works!

From the minute I walked in the door I was greeted loudly by the cashier and then seated by two different hosts.  I was greeted by my sushi chef and had my drink ordered within a minute of sitting down.

I did the AYCE (All You Can Eat) and my first roll was a hand rolled spicy tuna roll.  The roll was directly handed to me without a plate or anything in damn near under a minute from placing the order.  It was gone before I thought to take a picture of it!

My next roll was my favorite Phili roll but this time I didn't do the hand roll but instead the cut roll.  I found the  Salmon to be fresh and they didn't skimp on the Philadelphia cream cheese which I liked.  This roll had IMO, a perfect balance.  I did remember to grab a picture of his roll.

My third and sad to say final roll was their Crazy roll which comes with spicy tuna, crab, asparagus & fish (random?).  This roll was two rolls in one and larger than a normal roll so ended up doing me in.  It was absolutely tasty and again fresh.  My only complaint is that it was hard to dip it in soy sauce due to the sauce dish being too small for it. (boo hoo)

They did turn out the lights to sing someone happy birthday and the entire place got involved which was a lot of fun.  I was even greeted by the manager with a handshake during my meal which was a really nice touch.

Finally, I am wearing a special glove to help with my carpel tunnel.  My sushi chef had jokes and asked, "You trying to be like Michael Jackson?" ... I should have moon walked out just to joke back.

Well worth the trip and I would pay full price for the AYCE any time.

When I eat sushi, I don't want 'raunchy' to be one of the first adjectives to pop into my mind. Unfortunately it did when I ate at Joe's. Overall, the sushi is edible; however, there were some flavors that I experienced that made my skin crawl. Award for worst went to the shrimp tempura roll that my whole table agreed didn't taste like a regular one. It was reminiscent of a coffee flavor. Nigiri was alright. I've seen other places pack in more rice so no complaints with rice at Joe's. I did notice how they cut some of our salmon nigiri so thin that you could see the white of the rice through the fish, boo.

The parking lot isn't so great, there is a nice little tennis court near the rear entrance which is lit up really late. So, if you would like to work off your dinner, then it would be an option. Upon entering the gates of Joe's Sushi I make a comment about it being named Joe's Sushi. I do not think Joe is a traditional Japanese name. Hmmmm oh well. The place is hot, really hot. There is a beehive of activity here and hip hop is in the air. Everyone seems like they are having a blast. I couldn't quite wrap my head around the energy in the room. I sit down and already have in my mind what to order. I wanted my usual rainbow roll and a side of Mackeral Sashimi. Eating light tonight just to simply enjoy some sushi and a few drinks. Well the rainbow roll is mediocre at best. It wasn't great simply because compared to Yoshino's Sushi which had an excellent cut of sashimi on top of the roll, Joe's didn't have nice big cuts of fish on top of the california roll. However, the california roll tasted excellent and I was really enjoying that. The sashimi on the side was good because there wasn't much rice served with it, which I enjoy simply because you want to taste the fish and not be overpowered by carbohydrates.
The service is one of the best I have experienced at a sushi restaurant. Everyone is very helpful and courteous. We must have been asked several times if our dishes were good and if we needed anything else. The owner towards the end was very nice and had me laughing at a few jokes about the evening. This place is definitely an all you can eat joint for groups of friends to sit back and enjoy the atmosphere and great service.

When I go to AYCE sushi joints I have very little expectations. As long as I get my food in a reasonable fashion and it taste decent, I have no complaints. Sadly, Joe's let me down and then some. Service was slow, they got our orders wrong, majority of the sauces were disgusting, and the worse part...it didnt feel like a sushi joint....

First of all, they had disco lights shining all around the room while blaring techno music mixed with today's top 40 on 102.7. If I wanted to go to a club I would have. Overall, crappy ambiance and medicore food.

The sushi was alright compared to other places I've been to, but anything that's ALL YOU CAN EAT is good no matter what. It costs about $20 a person which is pretty good for an AYCE place. You can always count on a good nigiri..as for the hand rolls, it's mostly hit and sometimes miss.

The thing i love about this place is the atmosphere; this place is off the chain! If your looking for a quiet evening of fine dining, this place isn't for you. The staff is very friendly and the manager is insanely chill. If your friendly with the sushi chefs, they'll make you random samples to eat which is pretty cool. On my birthday, the manager was drunk near closing time and he was all dancing around the restaurant. He gave me free GIANT mochis and put on a cheese head hat and started posing for pictures.

Give this place a try if your looking for a good time with your buddies.

20 dollars all you can eat fresh darn-bomb-diggaty sushi, what else can you ask for!? From the moment you walk in the door, they scream and yell at you to the moment you walk out the door after they scream and yell at you again, this place delivers an outstanding sushi experience with their friendly singing sushi chef (if you talk to them, they are actually quite funny.) Talk to them! Be friendly! Get loud with them! and they will give you fresher and more food! If you be a jerk and also quiet, i guarantee you will be mistreated.

For 20.00 I really expected something negative to happen and crappy sushi like at Todai (never again) But I end up going home with a full stomach and pleased.

I would come back again.

At one point in my life I though Joe's Sushi was the absolute zenith in all-you-can-eat sushi bars. As time went on I experienced other places and my palate grew to be more defined, but it is safe to say that Joe's still holds a special place in my heart. The service is one of a kind here and is tailor made to serve the surrounding collegiate community. Sometimes the ambient music and media can get to be too much of a sensory overload, so don't expect a nice and quiet dinner here. Expect to get drunk and loud with the chefs and manager. The sushi is still pretty good and like I said, I've experienced better now, but this place is not bad at all.

Recommendations: Come hungry.

Warnings: It's gonna be loud and the manager is likely gonna pull up a chair and sit next to you and chat. Don't get freaked out and be friendly back k?

Back in the college days, I used to go here a lot. All you can eat for $17.95 at lunch, $21.95 at dinner. The mussels are really good and you can't really go wrong with any of the nigiris (especially hamachi and albacore). The rolls are hit and miss. You have to try the golden cali roll (deep friend cali roll). I'm all about the tiger roll and volcano. They don't have the crunch(y) roll anymore. The dynamite roll is pretty cool with the moving edible things. I don't suggest the crazy roll because its super super fishy (not in the good way)

Over the recent holidays, I came down to visit friends and we met up here. It looks the same except for the outside painting which looks very bright and vibrant now. They still play K-pop tracks over the sound system. The large TV is still there showing sports and what not. The one sushi chef I used to sit with all the time was still there (Johnny).

I was disappointed in the service and attention we got. We didn't even get orange slices for dessert! Food was so-so. I also didn't think the tacked on tip was worth it.

I still prefer Joe's over Cabin Sushi (which had that 1 hr limit, and made horrible rolls- ie, spicy tuna rolls drenched in hot oil). There's another sushi place on Magnolia past Tyler Mall, that one is ok.

If you come here, definitely sit at the bar and chat up your sushi chefs. As long as you're friendly towards them, they'll randomly make you interesting rolls to eat. Nifty.

This visit: 3*s.  Overall : 4*s

A UC Riverside student's paradice. I came here about once a month as a broke college student. Located about 5 miles off campus its a great quality sushi place for about $20 "all you can eat". It is bordered by a fish market and thus you can't get any fresher than that. Add to that a staff that is crazy and fun and you've got yourself a great sushi joint.
Ive been to sushi places that are more expensive and have less quality cuts. For the price it might as well be 5 stars. Still stays at 4 because I cannot regard this in the same class as some of the 5's I gave out for sushi (Yamashiro, Nobu, Matsuhisa, etc, ).
This place is a diamond in the rough

Do not come here if you want a quiet evening with friends/family or significant other. Its a great place to come enjoy a good meal for cheap price and maybe even free round of beers from the managers or servers.  The decor is a bit ghetto, but its riverside what do you expect..haha

This place is fun. Sushi quality isnt the greatest but the food is good.

The only reason this place gets a 5 star is because i used to work as a server here for a year...haha "RIVERSIDEEEEEE" -- if youve been here you know what that really means...haha*goodmemories*

ps: tell the manager its ur bday..you'll love it~

I've only been here once and I like this place already! The workers are super friendly and the food comes out quickly. The all-you-can-eat is your best bet. They blare music (hip hop, etc.) in there, though, so that makes for an interesting Japanese restaurant environment.... doesn't bother me, but at the same time, I wasn't expecting that.

An interesting/cool/awkward/odd moment is when one of the workers noticed that my boyfriend has a tattoo in Korean characters, and apparently that really amuses Korean people, because not a lot of people get tattoos in Korean. That lead to his beckoning pretty much every other server/host/sushi maker in the restaurant to come over to our table with their chorus of "oohs" and "ahhs!" Then the host asked if he could take a photo because he is "never going to see something like this again," then came back with his iphone.

Like I stated, I like this place, but if I just want an ordinary, relaxing sushi meal, this place seems like wayyy too much for that.

Service is outstanding here. Fish is hit or miss for me. Sometimes its fresher then others. One thing though, if you start to order a lot, they start to make the rolls bigger and bigger. The circumference just gets bigger and bigger till they try to stuff you with rice and their one hour time limit.

I go back for the service but the fish is so so. The sushi chefs are extremely friendly.

Came here with a couple of friends.

Sushi was alright. It was a typical AYCE sushi joint. But I do believe that Asahi sushi had more of a variety on special rolls.

The best part about Joe's was probably the atmosphere just cause it's so loud and upbeat. Additionally, they hella give mochis for dessert, which absolutely the BOMB.

But I'm sure I'll be back just because the service is better good compared to Asahi.

It does not get much better than Joe's.  The Golden Tiger Roll is awesome along with most others.  The place is entertaining from the time you walk through the door.  The staff including the manager are always talking, yelling, singing or bringing you saki.  We make it a point to go there everyt rip back to Calif we make and it has become a Christmas eve tradition.

Alright, Joe's is by far one of my favorite places to eat period.

The sushi is solid. It's not the best quality all you can eat place, but it's very good. But the atmosphere makes it.

When you go in, especially on a Friday or Saturday night, it's like a party in there. I've seen people getting skull beer bongs full of sake for their birthday, had a bottle of what I have deemed Japanese moonshine poured into my mouth TJ style, and all sorts of other hilarious craziness. It's always fun and the chefs seem to recognize regulars even though this place gets a ton of traffic.

They have a cool frequent buyer card that gives you 5% back for your next trip...not a huge amount, but it ends up being free sushi every once in a while and that's ok! If you haven't eaten here yet and like sushi at all, it's worth going. I make the 40 minute drive from Fontana pretty often.

It's not bad, but BEWARE they try to fill you up with rice and if you can't finish your orders they charge you extra. The waitress even bargained with my table on how much she wanted to charge us for our leftovers. I say drive down to CABIN SUSHI instead, it's 10x better. You'll thank me.

I heard about this place from of my friends so I decided to come here. We sat at the bar for the AYCE and this place is pretty alright, but it gets pretty packed. There were moments that the lights turned off so they could sing for people with birthdays, which got irritating after the 2nd or 3rd time. They gave us free alcohol, now that I think about it... which is a plus. The food you get is well worth the twenty-something you pay, so try it at least one if you're around Riverside.

I ate here a while ago but I remember it being decent. The only thing was that they put alot of rice into everything so you can get full faster. Also sometimes they would give you random sushi when you can do all you can eat (cheap rolls i.e. california rolls). The service was not that great but the place was PACKED so I guess it is harder for them. If you want good sushi then Asahi Sushi is probably a better choice, they have better service, price, and food.

Picture walking up to a large, plain shack and entering into a loud, overflowing room with cheesy, yet amusing roll-down banners of geisha and cherry blossoms. Photos of patrons celebrating bithdays adorn the walls and the sushi chefs vaguely resemble samuri.  This place reminds me of somewhere on the Old Las Vegas Strip sometime in the 70s, but in the best possible way.

I came for the second time, this time at  prime-time on a Friday night, with a party of 10.  The patrons were largely young and chic, likely from the nearby university.  The line was practically coming out the door.  Due to the wait, Jin, the boisterous manager started passing out Japanese beer, gratis...and a couple more.  After we waited an hour, he gave us a bottle of sake.  Jin wildly greets customers as they enter and exit the establishment.  With all his energy, Jin could be a one-man show.  The music mingled between wild, happy Japanese music and Top 40, which seemed pretty appropriate for the place.

Suddenly, the lights went out.  I thought we had lost power, but next a young woman stood on a chair, blew out a candle, and the entire restaurant sang Happy Birthday.  This happened three more times while I was there.

Now the sushi...really good...the all-you-can-eat is quite the deal.  In our party, dishes of sushi were coming and going all night, definitely more than we could eat.  The all-you-can eat had few rules or restrictions, and included all the traditional sushi, creative rolls, and even quail egg shots.  Our drinks were constantly refilled.  At the end of the meal, when we could not longer stuff ourselves, we realized that they wer still bringing more food, we called off our order.  Then, they brought us to-go containers.  I doubt this usually is done with all-you-can-eat, but we had SO much sushi on the table, I think my cousin took home enough sushi to eat for a couple of days.

Fun atmosphere, crazy manager, costumed sushi chefs, sexy crowd, good sushi and great deal.  This will be my stop when I go to Riverside!

Too many people have told me this place is AMAZING. That if I took one bite out of their supposedly amazing cut rolls or sushi I would be sent to the heaven of taste. I think I got to purgatory. One thing that I find great about this place is the offering of free beer if the wait is too long, its a nice gesture of hospitality. Aside from that, "meh" might be the best way to describe this joint.

The place is LOUD LOUD LOUD LOUD. Whether its the music blaring so you have to scream across a mini dinner table or its just a horde of drunken customers screaming and pulling up their skirts, one thing you have to know about this place: ITS LOUD.

GET THE BUFFET. BUFFET. ALL YOU CAN EAT. ALL YOU CAN EAT. Dont ever order anything individually here, the price for the rolls are average, the food that comes out is below average, which makes you feel as if you have been ripped off which could potentially kill your appetite. As a guy who use to work in a sushi restaurant, its not just the fish that matters, its the rice and fresh wasabi. When I went, they seem to be lacking in these things, most likely because its all you can eat.

Depending on what day you eat, the service can vary but all around its decent. I would recommend this place for those who just want to ingest some kind of fish and rice, get drunk, crazy, and possibly dance around on a table. I wouldnt recommend this place to those who want super quality expensive sushi and a place to have a nice relaxing time.

Its alright, nothing special in the way of sushi bars.  I've been there once and thought it was alright, but with so many other places in the area, I dont see a reason to go back there for so-so sushi

This place has a loud, fun atmosphere and is a great value...but the food is just alright.

I would recommend the sushi over the rolls.  The albacore was excellent and the yellowtail wasn't bad either.  The rolls were just okay and came with too much rice...probably because rice is a cheap filler for this all-you-can-eat sushi place.

I can see why college students would love this place...the environment is LOUD and the owner and wait staff are all super friendly.

Usually after fasting in anticipation of an all-you-can-eat feeding frenzy, anything will taste good. Joe's has managed to destroy that trend. I wore my sweatpants for nothing...

Food: I've heard a lot of good things about this place and have decided that this place probably was truly delicious at one point in time. Big emphasis on the past tense. We started off with a big plate of the usual pickled cucumber, wasabi, ginger combination (http://www.yelp.com/bi...). Next came the $2.00 tea (http://www.yelp.com/bi...). Had I known it would be so pricey, I would've stayed away. Next came the sushi, a pyramid of patriotic, deep fried California rolls (http://www.yelp.com/bi...), salmon and tuna (http://www.yelp.com/bi...), spicy tuna and ikura (http://www.yelp.com/bi...), rainbow and tiger rolls (http://www.yelp.com/bi...), and green mussels. Sadly, the eel and spicy tuna tasted strange and the fish was far from fresh. I sort of lost my appetite for any of the nigiri sushi and anything with spicy tuna in it.. Items of note included the quail egg which did not come on a bed of rice like I've seen before, but in a shot glass filled with an unidentified liquid (http://www.yelp.com/bi...). The best item by far was the volcano roll (http://www.yelp.com/bi...). The sauce they use on top is the same mayo-based concoction used on the mussels. It's heavenly.

Service: They charged us a $7 gratuity for having a large party. Uncool. Also, the tea is deceptive. They gave us the whole pot and charged us extra for it.

Atmosphere: Super loud and full of Korean pop music from the 90s. I know my Korean friend was having a great trip down memory lane, but it did get kind of repetitive after awhile.

Synopsis: Maybe they're hurting from the economic downturn, but I'm really not a fan of their current state.

It's good for the price, with a fun feel.
However, the people that frequent there is... yeah.
Don't be surprised to see bro-ho's screaming and lifting their skirts, bro's screaming 'YOU CAN'T HANG' at the top of their lungs, and general loud teenagers.
This is a common event.
Most raw sushi is good, some rolls have too much rice, or are lacking in quality.
Joe makes it all the better.

Okay, I'm going to be up front with you guys.  I use to work here on Sundays (my last day being 24 hours ago haha).

Anyways, this is an awesome place to come to for your birthday or with a big group for dinner.  I love how on your birthday, we turn off the lights and make you stand on a chair and have everyone in the resturant sing you a happy birthday.  Dinner time is the best, I feel like that's when the atmosphere can get crazy.  Most servers don't mind taking shots with you.  Jin, the manager, gets into it.  Don't be surprised if you hear him yell out RIVVVERSIDDDDE or puts on some funny hat.  He would do anything for you to leave with a smile on your face.    He's always hooking it up with beers, sake, mochi, or some sort of appetizer to big groups or regulars.

For the price you pay, $21.95, I honestly think it's worth the quality sushi you get.  I mean come on now, do you really think you're going to get real crab and gucci sushi here?  Ummm...you're retarded if you think so.  All you can eat also includes sides like miso soup, salad, veggie tempera, chicken teriyaki, and calamari.  But seriously, why get food comma off of the sides.  I will admit that their rolls do have too much rice for my liking, but I don't do roll.  It's all about hand rolls with soy paper mmmmm!  Like other said, the special rolls are where the money is.  You don't have to butter up the sushi chef to get it either.  Just write on your paper that you want a special roll and be prepared to be surprised with something different.  The only one that has an actual name and is a crowd favorite is the Joe's special.

If you want a relaxing atmosphere, this isn't the place for you.  They play loud music and everyone is loud so the person next to them can hear them.  I would recommend coming in during lunch when it isn't too crazy.

Oh yeah, one of my favorite ice cream they have is the plum wine.  Mmmmmm....

Alright so the only reason I drove to this place was because Cabin Sushi was closed. This place is korean owned and is decent sized. Parkings in the back of the store. Once you walk into the restaurant, your greeted by someone saying japanese i think? haha but the atmosphere was very lively and fun. It was lakers game and the workers were going crazy and joking around with the customers a lot. If you want a quiet romantic place, try cabin sushi, but if you want a fun exciting place, then Joe's your place.

It's $21.95 dinner all you can eat or something. Sushi quality was NOT that great. And my favorite spider roll wasn't even provided. I did not like their sweet soy sauce they used on some of the sushi and the waitresses were nice but seemed a bit rushed. I think the first round, you get priority because the sushi came by so fast, and the second round they start delaying it. Overall a decent place to try at least once, but I wouldn't really come here particular just for sushi unless I was around the area.

Here is the thing: I know from reading Anthony Bourdain's books that you should NEVER EVER eat all you can eat sushi.

That said, Joe's sushi is GREAT!!!!!

I confess I did not want to go there and in fact passed many time when my co-workers went there for lunch. I thought they were crazy to risk it like that. I mean, who would have thought you can have good FRESH sushi at an all you can eat price??? Well not me. However, being of the mind where you must try everything once I decided to give it a try.

And boy was I rewarded!!!! The rule of thumb with any restaurant is that if it's crowded then the food is fresh because of the high turnaround. But also I noticed that they do buy good quality stuff and probably the way they get their money back is with the large crowds they attract everyday and every weekend nights and days which they keep busy moving.

I think the owner stays on top of everything and is a great host.

It is good for birthdays or just having fun with your friends.

You will probably won't eat more than 2 rounds but it will be great!!! And the price cannot be beat!!! I do not recommed drinking anything but water but their sweet prune wine was good with the food.

Overall this place is really good for an easy going adventure into sushi-land and this is the only all you can eat sushi place I would go to or recommend anyone to  go.

My first all you can eat experience was at Joe's sushi...first impression - i really liked it.  I felt welcomed there, because the first thing that happens when you walk in, are over three sushi chefs greeting you, " WAZZUP!!??"  you have to laugh...you have the option of sitting at table or at the bar.  The place is more roomier than cabin sushi, and in taste and quality, i would say Cabin is better.  Joe's has this "special sauce" that they put on top of almost every roll.  I cant put my finger on it..but it tastes like...really sweet teriyaki sauce, oyster sauce or hoison sauce..i just dont know, but it kills the roll at times... in any case..heres what you can expect at Joe's..and cabin for that matter...still i rate this 4 stars for excellent service

if you dont know how it works..here it is (sorry if someone else already said it..i didnt read all the way through)
1.  say, I want all you can eat sushi please (price is like 21.95 i think)
2. she gives you a sheet - basically you order the sushi in rounds, 3 round total...so its not really all you can eat, but really, i never make it past the first round...hardly ever never...so lets say you want a spider roll, you can get that roll up to three times, as well as any other roll, hand help or raw fish.
3.  they also have other sides, like teriyaki chicken, veggie tempura, miso soup, etc...all inclusive
4.  most importantly, eat and chew efficiently, so that you dont need to drink as often and waste previous stomach space...

(disclaimer: i have a similar review for cabin sushi...)

The all you can eat is what drives the local college students here!

They do offer a lot on their all you can eat menu, more than Cabins, but still not a great wide selection.  They change maybe one or two of the ingredients and have a new name for it.  Their rolls are decent, but not mind blowing.

The atmosphere is a very friendly atmosphere.  The chefs and the waiters/waitresses are very friendly and attentive especially if it's your birthday.

They don't give you edamame beans though which I thought kind of sucked.  If you want a small bowl of it, it's $5.  I thought that was a rip.  Along with the miso soup.  It's additional to your sushi.

Okay to be fair I have never thought you could get fresh fish at Sushi houses in Riverside; but I was really disappointed with my first / only trip to Joe's Sushi.  The people I went with raved about it, but it struck me as odd that at the top of their praise list was the phrase "all you can eat."  That's not a selling point for me.  Cheap doesn't turn off my foodie traits, I still want quality and good taste.  I went with a sampler platter, that despite the shrimp, was just cool cuts of fish that definitely weren't fresh.  Fresh fish has a clean smell and taste.  I saw some of the chefs tasting what they were working with, which is always a great thing, but the fish still wasn't up to snuff.  Oddly enough I did manage to enjoy the pickled ginger, shrimp tempura, and chocolate ice cream desserts.

While I still listen to club music, I don't particularly enjoy it blasting at me when I'm trying to have lunch with people.  They do a good trade there but I think the restaurant's best move would be to turn down the music and turn some of those profits back into the business.

Shop til you drop. Eat til you drop. Both are not good things in life.

But if you don't want excellent quality sushi and instead want to gorge on unlimited amounts of okay sushi, then Joe's will suffice.

You do not come here to order an omasake. Nor do you expect ami ebi that is shelled fresh from live shrimp. You come here to gorge.
