While out doing an errand, I stopped in here today for a quick slice and was so happy I did. It was the lunch hour and they had a huge array of pizza, meat/veggie rolls, calzone, etc, lasagna, more etc, displayed for my selection. I chose a spinach pinwheel and what I thought was a plain cheese and tomato slices slice.
When they brought it to the table, I could tell by the aroma that I was in for a treat. With some added parm and salt from the table, the pinwheel was a delicious attention getter.
Once the slice was reheated, the top of the was sprinkled with parm and drizzled with olive oil. Biting into the pizza, there was a nice layer of surprise ricotta as the first layer followed by mozz, tomato slices and fresh basil. The crust was thin and nicely browned on the bottom, allowing it to stand up to the ingredients topping it. While crisp, it still maintained tenderness. I did add a light sprinkle of garlic, and that, with the olive oil put this tasty morsel over the top. The only drawback was that the tomatoes weren't peeled, so when I took a bite, the whole slice tended to want to jump in my mouth.
There are multiple "Joe's Pizza Pasta & Subs" scattered around town. I know of someone who married one of the owners and can say that "Joe's" is run by a family of cousins - origin Albania via NYC. I have no idea if each of the locations has independence with their menus/recipes. The 4 stars are for the pizza. The restaurant is plain, Mom and Pop Italian - really LARGE screen TV in one corner of a large dining area. Order at the counter, they serve. BYOB/BYOW

I just love this place for a good alternative to fast food. it's not a fancy place, but a lot of fun and the pizza is excellent. The service is polite, but you can definitely tell the people there are from NYC. Definitely recommend it.
