Stay away from this dump! You'll get a better & cheaper breakfast with better service at any Friendly's! We were there for brunch, for a baby shower ( approx. 50 people)...they were bringing in approx 6 empty mugs and a small coffee pot (with just enough coffeee for the 6 mugs) at the time & and we had to pour it ourselves! The food was barely warm, very little of it, I had the three scrambled eggs with fruit and home fries...and it was at best 2 scrambled eggs with home fries , 2 small squares of cantalope and 2 grapes on a wilted piece of lettuce ( so Lame)

This place is no good, and I knew it would be before I even stepped in their doors.  I usually avoid any eating establishment with the words "Joe" or "American" or even "Bar and Grill".

We went there after our orchestra concert last Sunday to celebrate the end to a good season of playing.

    Good things:
    - Parking Lot & location
    - Good drink menu
    - It's huge - tons of seating, so it can fit huge parties with no warning on  a Sunday afternoon
    - Yummy warm bread, so good - I ate a ton of it.

    Bad things:
    - NOTHING VEGAN.  There are only 2 vegetarian items - the nachos and pasta primavera with veggies.  Neither are vegan.  I asked the waiter if they have veggie burgers and he said no.  Who doesn't carry a veggie burger in the 21st century?  Seriously, get with it folks.  The only thing I could eat was a side of steamed garlic spinach.  Yes, I was that girl - eating spinach among a bunch of friends eating burgers. Thanks for making me the outcast.  Surely they could put one vegan item.  The other chains nearby have options.

    - Lame Sangria:  I love a good sangria when it's done right, however this was not the case. I ordered the pink sangria.  It was ok, but the fruit in it was just orange slices.  That is not a sangria. Where's my fruit that's been marinating for a day?  Apple? Melon? Grape?  Nope, just an orange slice.

    - Such slow service:  It took forever to get our drink orders in and then it took forever to even get our drinks. Then it took forever again to order our food, and then it took forever to get our food.  This place was so slow. I also had to ask multiple times to get a water.

    - Not great service:  When I ask you what you can do for me as a vegan, try to be creative.  Don't just tell me there is nothing I can eat, and let me order a side of spinach.

I hope to never go back.

My husband and I are HUGE Joe's fans (we even have the VIP rewards card), but we are new to the Dedham Joe's.  We used to live in Quincy so we always went to the Braintree one.

Obviously the menu and everything is exactly the same, since its a chain.

    A few must have's:
The Pink Sangria-- Most of the time they will limit you to two thats how strong they are.  Its like a watermelon jolly rancher that just melts in your mouth.

the Nachos-- you dont even need to get the grande.  Just the normal ones are delicious enough

Chicken Club Sandwich and the Cheddar Bacon Cheeseburger.

As far as the Dedham location specifically-- the parking lot is always full.  seriously.  no matter when we go, we drive around the lot looking for a spot.

Although the food always tastes good, the price keeps going up while the portion size keeps going down. I bought the grilled honey chicken salad for $12.99 . It came with 3oz. Of chicken.. It used to be worth the money.. Not so much now-a-days.

The location here is great if you are hungry and are exiting or entering I-95, or if you are doing some shopping at Legacy place or the surrounding plazas.

There is ample parking and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere - dark panel wood, rich leather booths, compatible wall art etc. The waitsatff/hostess are pleasant as well.

The proximity to the highway is what brought my family and I in the other day, as they were heading north up 95 afterwards. We were seated quickly and were ahead of the dinner rush, which was great. From here things started to tail off.

Our server was very slow, and several times forgot to bring things over to our table (cream for the coffee, butter for the bread, refills on drinks - my meal was finished before I got mine). We later found he was seated 4 tables at once and he apologized for the slow service at the end of our meal, but regardless, you should be able to handle that kind of volume on a Sat. night. Perhaps some of the blame lies with the hosting staff, but either way not impressed.

Additionally, the food was good, but not great. I got a ceasar salad with very watery, dying lettuce and bland dressing. The Mac & Cheese was delicious, but the portion was pretty small, especially for the price.

On the whole, it was an average meal at best and it was probably closer to a 2 star experience than a 3, but since my parents picked up the tab the price wasn't a huge issue this time. I probably won't be coming back based on the service speed and meh food, but if you're hungry and in the area you can do a lot worse.

Meh. I've experienced better is a perfect way to describe Joe's. The food here isn't impressive, the service is nice and friendly, but the prices are high for the lack of quality.

The good thing about Joe's is it's location. Right off of 128 on RT 1 across from Fox 25. It's a good place to meet for a business lunch, and the atmosphere is good for business. The place was full of suburban salesman and professionals all decked out in their suits, but still had the jeans and work boots guys at the bar.

The downside is the food. You get TGIF's strip mall quality food with city prices. Nothing on the menu is bad, but it's not amazing either. Are you picking up what I'm putting down here? You just don't get any bang for your buck.

The staff is on top of things. Our waitress today was friendly, took her time telling us the days specials, and was quick to return with drinks. The server brought the food out quickly and offered us the crushed black pepper (always better than table top pepper).

Joe's is a good place for a convenient business lunch but not the kind of place you take a date or someone you're trying to impress.

Basically a sit-down family-style restaurant with some local touches like clam chowder and a roll on the cheese steak that isn't quite a sub roll (not exactly sure what to call it in fact, but it was pretty tasty).

The service was good, very friendly, and quite speedy.  The appetizers were good and the prices weren't bad at all.  Not a bad choice if you're in the area and looking for something in a rush.

I have to agree with many of the reviews I read about this place . . . the food is not what I expected from this place.  While it was good, it was not what I expected when I walked in here.  The place seems to put on a good show as far as the aesthetics are concerned . . . the nice dark woods and the well decorated atmosphere are all very nice and pleasant.  The waitstaff was very attentive and had a good attention to detail.  But when it came right down to it, I was disappointed by the steak I had -- it was not terribly tender, the New England clam chowder, while nicely presented in a bread bowl, was not quite as rich and flavorful as I would have liked (although the fresh milled pepper was a nice touch to add).

So if you are looking to impress a client, then bring them here if you want to impress them with service, but don't care too much about the food.  If you are here to impress a date, then you might want to think otherwise.

Very average american chow, but if you get to the movies early and want a quick bit to eat, go to Joe's and eat at the bar.  Safe burgers, good onion rings, average rustic cut fries, and a good selection of beers.  What else would expect for a bar and grill?

On a side note:  According to my friend Rob, who was asked to leave his girlfiend's parents Thanksgiving dinner, Joe's is the only place open from Wrentham to Boston on Route 1 on Thanksgiving Day.

The service my group received at Joe's American Bar & Grill today was outstanding. We helped a friend move, and were far from home and looking for a restaurant that might be showing the Champion's League title game. Not easy to find in Massachusetts! We went in, and they weren't showing it, however, when we asked the hostess about it, she immediately had them switch some of the tvs over to it. Yay!

Our waitress was great. Very friendly and prompt. The food was awesome. I ate like a maniac and loved every bite. Since we wanted to see the entire game, my boyfriend and I split a Charle's River Pie. Wow. Wow. Wow. It is huge, and mostly a chunk of coffee ice cream. I'm amazed we finished it. The atmosphere was great too. I had never been to any Joe's before, and I was very impressed. I'd definitely go again.

Very pleasant dining experience after working in the humidity to help a friend move all day!

This restaurant has the tastiest, juiciest burgers ever served in a restaurant!  You can not go wrong with a burger here, they season them just right!  To make it even more fantastic - add boursin cheese and/or bacon!  To die for!!  Love it!

What I do find interesting is that burgers at other Joe's locations are not nearly as good.  This location must have a special chef in the kitchen!

Had a pit stop here on a business trip. It's not easy eating alone, but setting up at the mahogany bar for a quick dinner and drink was easy and comfortable at this place. Ambiance was nice, and entire staff was friendly. The Ahi Tuna salad was tasty and recommended.

I wish I could give it a better review but the service in this place is bismal and inconsistent.

We were promptly seated.  There are usually 2 managers roaming by the hostess(es).  After 15 minutes without anyone bothering to come talk to us (no water, silver, or anything), we finally went to talk to the hostess to ask for a service and the manager told us that he would send someone over right away.  After another 5 minutes, we decided to leave and as we walked past one or two managers, they seemed to look away.  This wasn't the first time this has happened.  Restaurant was 1/3 full and it was on a weekend around 5pm.

We've also used Joe's for delivery in Boston through a delivery service.  (Different location I would assume).  My company spent $20 for a tuna dish and it had 3 thin slices of tuna and tiny portion of salad.  I wondered if they gave me an appetizer and not the entree portion that I paid for.

I've formally complained to their headquarters.  Eventually, the manager from the Dedham office called back and left a voice mail.  I didn't bother calling back as i wanted to talk to someone at the headquarters as we've already spoken to a manager and he felt no interest in dealing with us.

I would avoid this place as it's a waste of time.  Since then we have taken our business to Not Your Average Joe's in Needham (another restaurant with name Joe) as the service (and food) is consistent and the staff is super friendly.

My goodness, what a (good) difference from the Newbury St location (see my prior review,...yuck!). Four of us for dinner on a Sunday, sat right away, not too cold a dining room, not too loud. Waiter (Matt?) was very attentive and nice. All food came out piping hot and was yummy! I had a cup of chowdah (yum!) and the Ahi Tuna salad. Very pleased. The whole table was happy. I give it 5 stars because I know we will come back here... They need some new desserts though!

I have been coming to Joes for years and Charleys before that. Always have great chili and burgers are very good. Found food to be hit or miss sometimes, and for a grill, not a great selection of sandwiches. Used to have a fantastic honey mustard chicken sandwich and a great BBQ chic sandwich too.

Too much competition with Legacy Place now for Joes to not step up their game.  Could be much better.

Joe's is alright, but just alright.  The menu isn't that great, and most of the time I just settle for a burger.  I got the CBZ once, but the portion was way too small for the price.

The two stars is mainly for the service.  Usually I choose the Joe's in Braintree, but on this particular occasion, my boyfriend and I met our friend at the one in Dedham.  Our friend was running late due to the snowstorm occurring outside.  Our waiter greeted us and got our drinks, and we told him we did not want to order until our friend got there.  Two minutes later he returned asking for an order.  Our friend was still not there, so we put in an appetizer, hoping to appease him.  It didn't work.  He came over again wanting our food order after he dropped the appetizer.  We told him again that we were waiting for a friend and he left.

The NANO second our friend sat down he was back at the table.

    I think you get it.

Not bad service, just very very annoying.

Joe's is Joe's.  It's a quality chain, with decent food, and fairly reasonable prices.  Think a slightly more upscale version of Friday's.  I was just here tonight with a bunch of girlfriends.  Most of us got salads (excellent portions too that made me feel like I was eating more than just a few bites of rabbit food) and wine.  My riesling was a most affordable $7, and quite tasty.  Combined with my salad and tip, my whole meal was $25.  Service was a little slow, but not bad.  Since we were coming from all different directions, the location was convenient too.  Overall, most def. A-ok

It's Joe's - very average food, but a pleasurable chain whose fair is a cut above the neighboring chilis & co. This Joe's has always had good service, too. I do crave the chowder in a bread bowl sometimes, and they also have a large lounge area with a bunch of TVs and sports on. Useful.

I LOVE the bartenders. They are always nice and fast every time I have been to the bar. The bar food is decent and the beers are OK. I think Joe's is a decent place.

There are several Joe's American Bar and Grill's to try around the area and some are really nice inside and some are really not. One thing that is the same is the mediocre food and chain like atmosphere. This is part of a restaurant group that are all pretty much chains around the area. This particular location is located on busy Route 1 near a bunch of chain hotels and what luck, directly across the street from the new Legacy Place. The bad news is that the place is so compact and tight and again service is so incompetent here and so disorganized, who cares if you get a seat, because once you do the place doesnt do much for the pallet. The menu boasts a nice array of sandwiches and dinners, prime rib and burgers and some pasta dishes. I have had a few dinners here and the steak is always either too rare or over done. The sandwiches are just okay and the burgers are large and not that elaborate. In the end this is more of an upscale Applebees, with mahogany walls and a nice bar. Don't let the average food decieve you, the prices are not cheap and your final bill may surprise you!

    ---------------------
    To Whom It May Concern,

This evening I went to Joe's in Dedham, MA. This is a restaurant my
family regularly goes to, and up until now we've yet to have a bad
experience. Tonight, however, we were faced with a chain of mistakes by
our waiter, who quite frankly did not seem to know the slightest thing
about what he was doing. When we made our order, he did not ask any of
us which sides we wanted, and my father had to specially request the
salad that came with his meal about 10 minutes after ordering. It
arrived along with the bread which we were never served. Not once during
our meal did the waiter ask us if we would like our drinks refilled, in
fact during our meal he did not ask us once how we were doing. 20
minutes after finishing our entree, he finally noticed and proceeded to
take our plates and bag our meals without offering a check or dessert.
We stopped him as he was leaving us and asked to see a dessert menu,
which was quickly brought to us. After 35 minutes of sitting with the
menu, I finally walked across the restaurant to let him know we wanted a
strawberry shortcake and the check. He promptly proceeded to forget
about us and serve the table across from him. When asked where our one
dessert was, he said that he put in the order when I told him to, and
that it was the chef's fault. Minutes passed and I got up again to tell
him to cancel the shortcake and bring us the check. He apologized and
returned moments later with the manager who offered to take our
appetizer off the bill as well as give us the dessert for free, a total
savings of about $15 on a $98 bill.

Based on this experience, I can tell you that we will never go to your
    restaurant again.

This is a solid chain restaurant, located throughout New England, offering a big menu - burgers, italian, fish, steak, etc. I wouldn't come here on a date but it is fine for a business lunch or dinner with pals to drink beers and watch a game. The bread is exceptional. I had chicken parm one time, which was a little dry. The next time I had a club sandwich and fries which was pretty good. A little pricey for the quality of the food. I think its better for sandwiches and burgers than entrees.
