Great staff and great doctor who takes his time with you. Highlights:
1. Early morning 7am appointments prior to work
2. When using novicaine, they make sure you are completely numb; and use the gum numbing prior to no pain even for the shots!!!
3. Great recommendations on products with SonicCare, my teeth health has improved tremendously in the three years seeing him. -

I had two appointments with this guy. First, he did a routine check up and as a result of that appointment he found a couple cavities, which he recommended be filled. He set up an appointment for the next couple weeks and I came back in. I had been having tooth pain and he said that he would also look into that symptom while doing the fillings. After his examination, he said that the tooth pain was not related to any of the cavities he was planning on filling and that I would need to see his associate in the same building, who was an oral surgeon. He said that he could get me into see him after my cavities were filled. At that point he shot me up with the novacaine and told me that he was going to give the drugs a minute to work. He then went to work on another patient and returned about 20 minutes later. By the time he was about halfway through my fillings, the drugs were starting to wear off. Then, he has the audacity to ask me "Do you think you can tough it out?" To which my reply was "Is that a joke?". He gave me another shot...
After all that misery was over, I was sent over to another office, where an oral surgeon examined my aching tooth. He also said he didn't know what the issue was but that he thought it was a tooth fracture and that he should do a root canal, just to make sure it doesn't get worse. I said no thanks and left. A few weeks later, I got a bill from my insurance company for $250 for the "consult" I received from the oral surgeon. After calling and yelling at Gould about being sent a bill for service that I thought his office was providing, he told me that he would work it out with the other dentist.
I left and have never been back. -

After moving to the South Bay, I was sad to leave my dentist in Santa Monica. But I was drawn to Dr. Gould after all the positive yelp reviews, and do not regret it. He has done some filling changes and crowns on me and I have to say he is a very gentle and explains everything is a knowledgeable, succinct manner. Dr. Gould has a lot of patients but he will spend enough time with his patients as they need and he is very friendly.
Jennifer was my hygenist and she was also very friendly when she did my teeth cleaning, so I have requested to continue to go back to her.
I have to say one of the best things about his office is the technology they use. They use digital x-rays, so no more film. It comes up instantly on the computer and they also have little cameras that can take up close pictures of certain teeth. They also send text messages to your phone for reminder appointments, as well as emails, which are all very convenient and much appreciated instead of phone calls. -

I heard about Dr Gould and tried to make an appointment for a routine checkup.
The person answering the phone was rude and was not accommodating in appointment times. She kept saying "this time (2pm) would be perfect for you on Thursday." I asked if there were any mornings available and then she said again " (2pm) would be perfect for you on Thursday."
I guess he's too busy. Thank god because I'm never going there and I'm telling everyone I know not to go there either. -

I've been here three times and have only seen Dr. Gould once and it was very brief. It was after my first cleaning by one of the dental hygienist that he came by to do a final inspection. I think he was in the middle of something else and spoke so fast that I barely understood him.
Other than that, the staff here is very friendly and professional. Of the three times that I've been here, I've worked with three different hygienists. So I'm assuming they are pretty well staffed. They are also good about reminding you about appointments. I received a phone call a week before to confirm the appointment, then an email a couple days before, then finally a text a day before. Might be overkill but at least they remind you, or else you'll be charged if you miss an appointment. I think the text is optional and can be removed from it.
Overall, pretty good office but not if you're looking for more interaction with the doc. -

I called and asked the office manger to refile with my insurance (it was coded improperly) and she accused me of insurance fraud. Will never go back after being treated like a criminal. BEWARE they only care about your money.

This place is a little gem. Dr. Gould is my dentist and he always takes the time to make me happy. My teeth are very important to me and I feel like he never wants me to leave unsatisfied. Hard to find a dentist that listens and takes the time. (not too much time ;)...he does have other clients...
He's cool, the staff is friendly and follows up when you forget, as we all do.
Very professional. I recommend him to all my clients who comment on my pearly whites!!!! -

I came here to see Dr. Gray upon the recommendation of many...MANY co workers.
I've always hated going to the dentist but now I know that I've just had really bad dentists in the past.
The office was very warm and cozy (very unlike a typical sterile Drs. Office) and the hygenists were great as well.
Unlike my other dentists, Dr. Gray listened to what I needed and what concerned me. This made the whole experience very pleasant. -

I first found out about Dr. Gould's practice through a co-worker. He couldn't stop raving about how amazing his dentist was - and given that he is not one to rave about anything, it immediately caught my attention. Then not too long after that, one of my other co-workers needed an emergency root canal and ended up going to Dr. Gould's office. She loved them too! Since I was several years overdue on a checkup, I finally bit the bullet and made an appointment.
I ended up meeting with Dr. Gould's associate, Dr. Gray. And he is simply great - friendly, professional, and efficient....what more could you really ask for?
All in all, this is a great office - from the receptionist to the dental assistant to the dentists themselves. Can't believe I'm sitting here recommending a dentist - but there ya go. Great businesses/services need to be recommended! -

While I'm on a Medical Yelp Review roll...might as well give a shout out to my dentist. Dr. Gould and Dr. Gray were recommended to me by a very motherly (read trusting) office administrator at one of the offices I had previously worked at. I had been fortunate prior to moving to SoCal, to be able to see the same dentist my entire life...and the idea of letting some stranger poke around (and god forbid drill) in my mouth was unsettling. Needless to say, I was not going to pick at random...I have heard far too many horror stories.
Dr. Gray, Dr. Gould, and staff are simply awesome. The waiting room is comfortable, and everyone who works there are friendly, funny, and professional. I would almost even call this place "hip".
Prior to moving to SoCal, I had never had a cavity...and upon hearing that I had a few that were starting to form...I agreed with Dr. Gray that we should take care of them sooner rather than later. I was a bit nervous about the whole process, but Dr. Gray was great at explaining what was going on, what to expect, and made sure that I experienced no discomfort. His sense of humor and confidence and a touch of Novocaine went a long way in making my first cavity/filling as pleasant as possible.
Probably no one enjoys going to the see the dentist, but I promise that if you come to this office...you won't dread it either. -

Dr. Gould is an awesome dentist.
I can honestly say that I've always disliked dentist.
But all that changed after seeing Dr. Gould!
His staff is very friendly, patient, knowledgable, and everyone
always encourages you to ask any questions if you have any.
What's so awesome about Dr. Gould is that he's a very happy and friendly doctor. He's also a perfectionist, which is great because who doesn't want healthy, clean, and beautiful teeth?! Another reason why he's so different from other dentist is that he LOVES his job! It's hard to find professional people who love their jobs and aren't just in it for the money. Knowing this, you can confidently walk in his office and feel at ease because you're in good hands.
I came in for an appointment for veneers and teeth whitening and came out with the smile I always dreamed of having! Plus he gave me a discount for the whitening and trays! Yeeeessss! -

Dr. Joel is the best!!! He's staff was friendly and organized. I was worried about finances, and he was worried about me(LOL). He's care was affordable. He was confident and detail. I was impressed with their efficiency. You don't need to look for another dentist. He is the best of the best.

After reading all the positive reviews here on Yelp, I decided to meet Dr. Gould myself. I scheduled a routine checkup and cleaning.
His staff was nice enough, no problems with them.
But I felt Dr. Gould was quite unprofessional. He just did not listen to me. On my first visit, he presented me with a treatment plan. I went home and thought about his suggestions and decided I wanted to speak to him about them some more.
The next visit (deep cleaning #1), I asked my hygenist if I could please speak with Dr. Gould briefly regarding the plan. It was as though I had asked him to prepare my taxes. He made such a huge fuss, telling everyone how "I need to eat my lunch!" and how tired he was. He was very abrupt with me. All I wanted was to understand the urgency of each procedure and to ask if he could work with me to make this more affordable.
I am a physician so I understand that all medical professionals have time constraints. However, we also have to work WITH our patients if we want to help them. And we have to respect our patients, no matter how tired or hungry or annoyed we are. I just felt that those elements were missing with Dr. Gould.
What's really strange is that no one ever asked me to schedule these treatments so I haven't actually had my fillings done yet. And I won't be, because I am taking my business elsewhere. -

Doctor Gould and his staff are great. I hate the dentist. But this office is full of professional hygenists and assistants that make your dental experience as comfortable as possible.
Doctor Gould himself makes sure each patient receives the highest quality care. He will not rest until he thinks he has done the best job possible.
I especially thought Jenifer ( dental hygenist ) cared deeply about doing the best she possibly could.
I suggest you try them out. -

Been coming here for years and I can tell you Dr. Gould is the best dentist I've ever had. He even corrected some botched fillings my previous dentist had done on me. All the front desk girls and hygienists are friendly and always smiling, too.

I Love Dr. Gould...and i HATE dentists, they terrify me. Dr. Gould and his staff make you feel right at home. They are friendly, understanding, knowledgeable and great at what they do. He explains everything he's doing, takes his time to make sure you're okay and is funny and entertaining. What more could you ask for in a dentist??

Dr. Gould is such a warm, understanding, sensitive dentist. I have always been afraid of the dentist but after meeting him I am comfortable to keep going back for my quarterly visits. Not only is he great but his entire staff are friendly and personable. I love his platinum blonde assistant tiffeney. She is so fun and comforting! The bottom line is that I feel at home at Dr. Goulds office and that is the kind of feeling that I want when I go to the dentist.I almost forgot to mention the location is super convenient and I love the outside decor! Good work doctor!

Dr. Gould is great! I had a major fear of dentists before coming to him, he totally changed my mind. He and his staff are both very friendly, professional, and thorough. They always remind me when I'm due for another check up, but are never pushy! I recommend him to all my friends and co-workers.

I needed some major dental work and went to Dr. Gould for a second opinion. I had recently had an exam with a dentist in Hermosa Beach that I didn't feel comfortable with, and so after reading Dr. Gould's reviews on yelp, I thought I'd give him a try. I'm so glad I did. My insurance wouldn't cover the "second" exam/consult, so he didn't charge me! Dr. Gould took a few additional x-rays, and walked me through a treatment plan. He was easy going, knowledgeable, and efficient. After the consult/exam, I was informed that the office had a cancellation and that Dr. Gould could start my work right then, if I had time. Great! I had some major work done; it was totally painless, and everything feels great. Dr. Gould is a gem!

Good office overall.
All the work they recommended was confirmed by my next dentist...so they are trustworthy. However, they badmouthed my former dentist saying they could do better. However, I failed to see a vast improvement. Although, the work they did overall was good. There was one tooth which was worked on by my dentist in NY, they worked on it, and now my new dentist showed me a crack in the tooth and thinks a crown should be put on it to save it. Otherwise A-ok. -

I am brand-new to the El Segundo/Manhattan Beach area and am really happy I selected Dr. Gould's practice to be my new dentist. Had my very first appointment with them yesterday and I thought they were awesome! Very friendly and efficient staff, dentist himself was super friendly and upbeat, a great experience overall. They are a great choice if you're looking for a dentist.

Dr. Gould is amazing...he saved my tooth. :) Dentists are most likely the least appreciated and the most dreaded Dr.'s appointment. The office staff is so nice, friendly, fun and professional. I totally enjoy my dental visits. I actually have fun (i swear to ...) every time i go to Dr. Gould's office. Dr. Gould made my root canal procedure kinda fun...that is REALLY, REALLY difficult to do. lol. He really is THAT good.

Fabulous!!!!
I found Dr. Gould on Yelp and went to him because I needed a crown. After decades of dentists, his novocaine shot was the best ever - no pain, no discomfort whatsoever. I hardly noticed it was happening.
He explained everything he was doing in meticulous detail. Very personable. Office staff and assistants were great. Don't walk - run - to Dr. Gould. -

Great dentist. I found him on Yelp. I just had a horrible experience with another dentist office and Dr. Gould makes me not dread going to the dentist any more. He's friendly, explains everything well and does a great job with as little pain as possible. What a relief! The office staff is friendly and helpful and takes the time to explain the insurance procedures. - Update: still going to Dr. Joel, and wouldn't go anywhere else. My last visit was a cleaning and Darla explained to me a lot of things that a hygienist never explained to me before.

I shopped around for Dentist in the area, and I'm really happy I landed at Dr. Gould's office. I have been going there for 1.5 years, and I have had an awesome experience every time I go there. The office is professional, the assistants are thorough and nice. The equipment is top notch, and unfortunately/fortunately they found my cavities early.
