I'm a model in the SF area and I saw Joel a few times for shoots.  I have the most beautiful black and white photos.  They are so elegant and timeless, that I'll be able to keep them forever!
Joel is SUPER easy to work with.  His sense of humor and friendliness makes the shoot comfortable and fun.
You don't have to be a model to have a great photo of yourself. Most people never think of doing it for themselves.  But if you want a beautiful, classic photo I would highly recommend Joel.

When working with Joel Brandwein, what strikes you first and foremost is his love for his art and his ability to bring the best out of his subject.

I had done a bodybuilding show earlier this year and wanted to capture a time when I was in the best shape of my life so I worked with Joel.  I had never done a shoot before, but was glad I selected him- he is patient and has a knack for making his subject comfortable in front of the lens.

He is very professional, personal, and his versatility in subject matter is also a great plus.  Check out his site, you'll see!

Specialties

Joel has always seen the primary role of the photographer as being quite similar to that of a good film director. He must build a rapport between himself and his subject so that truly great moments of essential beauty can be captured forever on film.

History

Established in 1988

Joel Began photographing an international assortment of readily "available" subjects while living in Milan and Paris and working as a model in his late teens.

Meet the Business Owner: Joel B.

Joel was born in New Jersey (not sure exactly what exit number) and after a brief stint (1 year) living in Peter Cooper Village, a residential development in the New York City borough of Manhattan, he moved up and out (about a 45 minute drive) to Westchester County and the town of Scarsdale. He did seventeen years of hard time in this wasteland of wealthy suburbanites and, upon his release, headed west to California. He has since lived overseas in Paris, Milan and Venice. He's also lived briefly in Salina, Kansas (long story), made a return to New York City with an apartment in Chelsea, and has now settled back in the San Francisco Bay Area. Joel is a musician, photographer, filmmaker, web designer and graphic artist . . . and also makes one hell of a micro waved bowl of oatmeal.
