If, say, you are visiting New York just to eat a lot of pizza, something I highly recommend, Joe & Pat's is a must.

Unlike some of the other great pizza places, where the employees come from the Old Country and do everything themselves, Joe & Pat's turns out delectable pies made by, as far as I can tell, surly local teenagers. But what pizza! It was so good that after I ate my entire pizza and walked out the door, I thought about my plans for the rest of the day, then turned around to walk back in and eat ANOTHER pizza. A decision I did not regret in the slightest.

I don't know why these fuckos changed their arugula salad. It was perfect before they added red onions galore.
I don't know why you fuckos wouldn't want to devour the best pepperoni pizza with thinly sliced, slightly crisped and highly flavorous abundant pepperoni!

P.S. babies

Came here the other day ,and, first things first, the back dining room is beautifully painted with columns, flowers, clouds, etc. all over the walls.  Very striking when you come in from the bland front room with the pizza oven.  Speaking of which, the oven is a gas oven, but has rotating decks.  I'm not quite sure what this is for, but my only guesses are that it makes it easier for to know when a pizza is done (if they time the rotation), they do a huge volume of business sometimes and need the extra space, or it just looks badass (which it does).  Service was pretty good seeing as we were only there for pizza.

The pizza itself is great; it has a super thin, cracker-like crust, which I'm personally not a fan of, but Joe & Pat's was lightly charred and had a nice, but not overwhelming crunch to it.  This kind of crust does make folding difficult however, so its better just to hold it up with 3 fingers instead of forcing a fold.  Also the outer crust is pretty nonexistent, which means the sauce can creep to the edge of the pie.  Some people might not like the lack of crust, but I thought it was fine.  The sauce on the pizza was also great; it was light and very flavorful, and it matched the crust beautifully.  The only real bad part is that the cheese could've been better, but it did work well with the rest of the pie.  Also the thiness of the pie makes it not filling at all, which would also be an issue for me normally.

Joe & Pat's definitely exceeded my expectations.  Its a definite must for cracker-crust afficionados, worth a detour if your nearby, and one of the best pizzerias in Staten Island.

It was a long time coming, but I finally managed to get Victoria and Snarky out of the house.

Granted, it took a late Saturday afternoon lunch at Joe & Pat's on Staten Island to do so, but some things are worth the voyage.

First entry into Joe & Pat's will take you into the Pizzeria.  Patrons can see from a first hand account at the site in which the Pizza is made.  From visual perception, two individuals stood behind the counter.  The first prepped the dough by tossing it with flour and shaping it into a 10 inch round, which was then proceeded to be stacked in a 45 degree angle amongst the prior.  The second individual was in charge of "creating" the pizzas that were ordered.  Not much to remark on in this area other than the 4 seaters available for patrons grabbing slices.  To the immediate back is the hostess station for the dining area.  Contrary to the sporadic conveyor belt operation of the pizzeria front, the dining room possessed cascade grandeur with a slight Tuscan design concept.  The soft and comforting tones derived from the beige and orange scents derived a feeling of calm during the dining experience.  Art decor with visuals of grapes and the Italian countryside was also on full display.  The ambiance of the restaurant was tranquil and serene, thus aided by the harmonic tone of the establishment.

Upon arrival of Vic, Snarks, and the twins (Jules & Benny) we were off to the gluttonous races.

Two Pizzas were ordered but mine was a half and half special.

Margherita:  Similar in application to the classic Naples export, the Margherita produced subtle yet welcoming flavor.  From first bite, patrons will be intrigued by the markable textural contrast of the crust.  Contrary to most places, Joe & Pat's managers to produce a crust that's flakey and crispy towards the foundation and then introduces a doughy softness at elevated levels.  What's superbly remarkable is the ability to create such textural contrast with a crust that measures no more than an 1/8 inch in height.  Although the crust lacked the charred smokiness that helps to amplify the flavors in the application, it was still cooked remarkably well.  Sadly, the profound flavors of the application did not produce the overwhelming fondness that expectations had rendered.  The tomato sauce used in the application lacked the pungent flavors and herbs known from a hearty tomato sauce.  In essence, the sauce itself lacked bite, due to the lack of detection of salt, pepper, oregano, or thyme.  The Fresh Mozzarella used in the application did provide a subtle sweetness to the application, but did not produce that milky texture with velvety sweetness for which this cheese is labeled.  Overall, the flavors of the Margherita were subtle and balanced, but lack the pungent robust detection that would make the pizza stand out.

Margherita w. Sausage & Mushrooms:  Perhaps a bit heartier than just the plain, the mushroom and sausage toppings gave the pizza a welcoming bite.  The sausage itself was perfectly seasoned, thus provided the much welcoming saltiness to the application.  The mushrooms provided a subtle meatiness as well, but produced more of an earthy flavor.  All of the elements combined together to create a well rounded rendition of flavors and textural contrast.  Perhaps the salt derived from the sausage was what helped with amplifying the flavors of the Margherita.  Nevertheless, the sausage did indeed make it better.

Regular Pizza w/ Pepperoni:  Snarky & Victoria's choice of poison.  Thanks for the Snarks generosity, I was able to sample what Steve claims as "the best pepperoni he's ever tasted".  Contrary to the Margherita, the Regular Pies are created using processed Mozzarella, which gave the application a heartier flavor.  At first bite, the profoundly robust flavors of the processed mozzarella and oil renderings of the pepperoni worked to engulf the palate.  The subtle saltiness and rubbery texture of the processed mozzarella gave the tomato sauce the welcoming bite that was highly sought after.  To further amplify the application, the spicy yet bold flavors of the pepperoni stood out to enhance the aromatics and subtle flavors of both the mozzarella and tomato sauce.  With its excessive oil renderings and mild heat, the pepperoni gave the application a nice textural twist.  Consuming the Regular Pizza w. Sausage reminds patrons of their first New York Style Pepperoni Slice.  Despite the excessive oil and mild spiciness the pizza was done with perfect execution in cooking technique, flavor, and textural contrast.  Without a doubt, one of the best Pepperoni slices one can ever have.

With that in mind... Lunch was over!  Special Thanks to Victoria and Steve for coming out on short notice.  The kids are beautiful!

So I'm new to New York and worse, I live on Staten Island...so New York Yelpers should offer no respect.  Cut that shit out now.  My name is Gino Macaluso...a 100% Italian (Abruzese, Umbrian, Calabrese and Sicilian) and I've been to Italy twice.  I appreciate good pizza...the Napolidan (or correct) way...with crust that is both thin and crispy...light and airy and ingredients that are used to enhance the essence of the pizza (THE CRUST) rather than overwhelm it.  Fresh Marinara, Mozz and Basil...then you choose...i wish New Yorkers offered the Rugala topped pie like in Italy.

Cheese on a pizza should be fresh Mozz that doesn't cover the whole pizza...sauce should show through at around a 60/40 ratio.

__________________

Joe and Pat's is correct Pizza.  The crust has a wonderful flavor and the toppings are used correctly and effectively.  They also have many other wonderful Italian dishes...my girlfriend and I tried the Fried Calamari and it was good...also done the RIGHT way...but not the best or freshest.  I want to try the pastas and zuppa di mussels.

While I aim at trying pizza from as many places in and around the 5 burroughs and New Jersey, fact of the matter is that I currently sit at a total of 3 tried: 1) Joe and Pat's, 2) Lombardi's on Spring St. Manhattan, and 3) Patsy's on University Place.

I like Joe and Pats the best...Lombardi's is a must, and delicious...but the simplistic taste of Joe and Pat's crust excites my mouth a bit more.

Arturo's awaits...and a million others.

Yelp changes you in ways that you don't even realize, till one day you step back and say... WHOA! I, for one, have always prided myself on being a "fair weather friend" (yes, I do have misplaced priorities - which should've been clear to me the day I skipped my own birthday festivities, preferring instead to spend the two hours under the table and polishing off a whole cake!! In my defense, I was only 4 years old.). So, back in December when I received a PM from Vic inquiring whether the brutal weather had frightened me off causing a change in our lunch plans, and I responded with "No, we're still on" - I appreciated yelp for personal growth that I hadn't noticed.

Staying on the topic of noticeable personal growth, I think Vic would be the first to give credit to yelp - having forced Senor Snarky into giving up his sparkling convertible, for a family car :)  It's not just the weather. Vic is surprised every single time I make the trek to Staten Island, knowing how much of an effort it is for me to step outside my zone of comfort (Manhattan). Her worries are a tad unfounded, for I do relish the opportunity to ride the Staten Island ferry whenever I am able to.

You don't need to read the talk threads to realize that Senor Snarky is not bowled over by NYC pizza {he's from California, need I say more ;)} I suspect he too is a contrarian, for he actively advocated Joe and Pat, after reading my review praising Denino's. He does realize, though, that I take pizza seriously and so as he picked me up from the ferry terminal helpfully advised to let Vic (aka "eats for 3") have the bulk of the appetizers, should I expect to stand a chance to enjoy more of the pizza! j/k :)

Joe and Pat's has the ambience of a Greek diner. Once we were able to capture the attention of our waitress (still studying in high school) we ordered a large plate of appetizers with clams, baked clams, fried calamari - while Vic ordered a separate plate of clams. Amidst laughter, stories, and catching up, I was able to save my appetite for the pizza while encouraging my dining companions to compensate. See, if you really love food, you need to strategize before every meal. Eating is NOT a job for amateurs :)

As the pizza arrives, I surreptitiously take out my iphone to take pictures. I note that the 14 inch pizza is extremely thin and crispy. While I prefer Neapolitan pies, I would think that Joe and Pat's is the best pizza in the cracker thin crust category - much superior to Vezzo, Waldy's etc. The salty crust was nicely charred, while the sauce was bold: sweet and tangy. The cheese was a big let down for it didn't appear that they used fresh mozzarella. On a positive note the distribution of the cheese allows one to savor the tomato sauce. While I rate Joe and Pat's highly, I would still prefer Denino's to them. The most memorable quality to Denino's crust is the incredible flexibility, try and fold the pizza similarly at Joe and Pat's - and it breaks. So, while the crust may be crunchy, no part of the slice is soft and chewy.

As we head back to St. George terminal, the Snarkys do a slight detour to take me around Snug Harbor and give me a peak into this hidden jewel of a botanical garden and cultural center. I promise to be back in warmer weather to appreciate its architecture, landscapes, and performing arts. But more so, to share the warmth with my favorite yelp couple, who should by then be fully involved in doing their bit to grow the economy. This is a toast to them, and to personal growth. Salud!

Oh, Joe & Pat. How I remember those long ago days of waiting for the s61 in front of your establishment. Those cold, cold autumn nights of highschool. It was your pizza-- your crunchy, thin slices with the perfectly seasoned sauce (not too spicy or too sour, and just the right amount of sweet) that got me through those days. The patient smiles of your employees, as I searched through my bag for that last quarter because I'd spent all my money on a t-shirt from the skateboard shop next door, always brightened my day.
I come back for the pizza (and the paninis, and all their amazing seafood dishes), but I stay for the nostalgia.

But seriously folks, Joe & Pat's = a reason to go to Staten Island.

Joe and Pat's is the reason why I can't enjoy pizza since I've moved back to California.  One of my best friends is from Staten Island, and when I would visit her--and later when I lived in NYC--Joe and Pat's was always on the itinerary.  Family owned and operated for years, this was my very first introduction to the amazing Italian foods (mostly pizza) you can find in Staten--but Joe and Pat's is THE BEST. Hands down.

Everything I've eaten here is delicious: the paninis, salads, fried zucchini sticks, pasta dishes...oh God and the PIZZA! The Arugula Pie and Pesto Pizza are really unique (and delicious!); but really any pizza here will rock your socks.

My friend and I have since moved to California...and we miss this place like crazy!  Pizza just isn't the same on the left coast.

Completely over-rated. I'm surprised more people haven't said that the hype of this joint hasn't ruined the experience for them. Now, my perspective of this review is from the standpoint that I like my sauce and cheese on a crust - not a cracker. I understand that many people like THIN CRUST - in fact, that is how *this* pizza has made it's name ... but you know what? Pizza making (and dough making) is an ART and I feel like the lack of work with the crust here is a slap in the face to bread all over the world.

Regarding the rest of this cracker treat, the cheese is okay but I always find the sauce to be inconsistenly wierd. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's not, sometimes it has a funky aftertaste.

If you want a basic pizza with GREAT sauce and cheese everytime, head down the road to Paesano's. I truly believe the quality is a little higher than Joe & Pat's.

If you're looking for a slightly more 'gourmet pizza' - cross the street and go to Goodfellas. They do amazing things with flavor and sauce and toppings.

In fact, if there's one thing Joe & Pat's does NOT have - it's the ability to put anything tasty on their pizza. This place is not known for toppings. A topping would take away from the basic slice which this business has made its name upon. I've gotten toppings and they're not inedible, but my point is that it does nothing to enhance the pizza.

There are numerous reasons to make your way out to Staten Island (in case you're not acquainted, our island neighbor borough to the south, generally only accessible for most of us BY BOAT). Some of them would be:

1. Water all around the place, and hence, beaches to go to.
2. There are parks with green plants and trees in them that you can visit if you want to get your CO2 exchange on.
3. There are boats nearby and those you can take to get there (i.e., The "Spirit of America", a full-featured Staten Island Ferry boat - did you KNOW they have ELEVATORS on ferries these days?!? Elevators!)
4.There's the Fresh Kills landfill, which, if you want a snoot full of rotting garbage, is arguably THE BEST place you can get this sort of olfactory experience in the Mid-Atlantic. In fact, you can even get this experience as an added BONUS whilst driving to make passage through Staten Island to the OTHER great weekend destination, the NJ Turnpike. There's nothing quite like it. You really ought to try it.
5. There are horrendously douchebag-esque natives to see with bad hair, no fashion sense, too many gel products, bad cologne, and festooned with gold chains and other tasteless adornments and accouterments (the male version of which makes the Manhattan female foam at the mouth, I've heard tell).
6. See numbers 1-5 above (and this is just a smattering)
7. They have their own quaint little subway out there (who knew?!) that looks hauntingly like the one that runs in some other more convenient boroughs.
8. Oh, yes, and  of course there is, last but certainly not least, PIZZA. Worth a trip, EVERY TIME.

Yes, there are clearly many reasons to go to Staten Island, aka, Richmond County, aka SHOULDA BEEN PART O' JERSEY. But I digress.

Of late (say, the last month or so), believe it or not, there are even a couple of more reasons to go to Staten Island not listed in the tourist brochures that one COULD see if one were just out there for other reasons anyway:

1. Trunko (aka Bennie) See photo here:
http://static.px.yelp....

2. Chuckanucka (aka Jules) See photo here:
http://static.px.yelp....

Please note, they are definitely not worth a special trip having to contend with:

a) grievous precipitation, or
b) obnoxious bikers doing some 5-borough bike ride, or
c) tourists, or
d) native Staten Islanders who speak some indecipherable version of English, OR
d) not to mention, risk of infection with SWINE FLU.

It doesn't matter that they're outstandingly cute and produce liquids and other baby by-products without prompting (this is TALENT, I tell you), or that their parents are somewhat interesting and make decent coffee. THEY ARE NOT WORTH A TRIP. No, but if you do happen to be out there, for say, PIZZA, you might check them out. TRUNKO. CHUCKANUCKA. Remember those names.

This one particular Saturday, I was out on a run-of-the-mill, happens-all-the-time visit to my SECOND favorite island borough (aka, Isle de Staten), for no other reason than to get PIZZA (see reason #8 to visit, above), and happened in on Joe and Pat's. Lo and behold, who just happened to be there but Snarkytatious V. COINCIDENCE?!? Since he seemed happy to see me and because I just happened to be there anyway, he invited me over to his place to visit his lovely wife, Victoria H. V. Some of you may also know that lovely Victoria has recently extruded the two aforementioned food-processing units listed above, aka TRUNKO and CHUCKANUCKA and asked me if I might like to see them as well. In addition, he also offered to pay for the pizza, augment the pizza with buffalo wings, and give me a tour of the local chocolate store. BONUS. I should go out to Staten Island more often. Free pizza, buffalo wings, chocolate, AND an audience with TRUNKO and CHUCKANUCKA is hard to pass up.  Just keep in mind, I was really out there for pizza.

Without further ado, let's talk about the pizza:

Joe and Pat's is clearly an institution. You can tell by the vibe of the place, and the articles on the wall. There is definitely pride in the product and for good reason.  The crust is thin (but not too thin, aka POSTO, Yec-c-c-c-chhh) and cooked crispy; the sauce/cheese ratio is excellent; the additional ingredients (in this case, pepperoni) were absolutely delicious. Normally I am not the biggest fan of pepperoni. I'll eat it, but it's not my extra ingredient of choice. This, however, was REAL pepperoni, not some stuff that comes in a bag from the supermarket pre-sliced like in other pizza places. The diameter of the slices was about half what you typically find, they were a little bit thicker, and the edges of the pepperoni were browned and crispy from cooking on the pizza. Best of all, the pepperoni was actually spicy and added a really delicious component to the experience. Highly recommended.

This pizza is worth a trip. And while you're there, if you have time, stop by and see TRUNKO and CHUCKANUCKA. They're pretty cool too!

For all the hype from Staten Islanders, this place is simply not impressive. Good pizza is few and far between in Staten Island, and it's no different at Joe and Pat's. The pizza had almost no cheese on it at all, which for many slices in New York like L&B is fine. The pizza literally tasted like sauce on dough. The sauce certainly was not bad, but some cheese, basil, oregano, etc. please.

I'll have to return to Joe and Pat's to see if it was simply an off night, but the pizza was average at best. It was not horrible, but top 10 or top 20 in New York, it's far, far away.

Eh-it's ok. I'm not too crazy about the tangy sauce, and the crust is WAY too thin to even be considered one...it may as well be referred to as a cracker.

Service is nice enough and has a bit of that tough-guy charm as far as I could tell, but it' s just not worth the treck from Queens.

From tip to crust, each paper thin slice somehow manages a uniform crispness so intense, it borders on explosive. Yet it chews easily. I sat for more than half an hour, rotating slices in my hand, turning them upside down, transfixed by them, theorizing how it would even be possible to coax a dough into this dual personality. Clearly the method is all Joe & Pat's. Bystanders might well have suspected I was analyzing the formula for cold fusion.

With random pizza joints seemingly on every corner of NYC,  and I weighing the different styles of the city's most famous examples, I find myself drawn to this Staten Island outpost for a different set of reasons than some of the others...

Arugula salad. I can't say I have ever had it done so well: crisp greens, tossed with lemon juice, sliced cherry tomatoes and red onion, topped with shaved Parmesan, and drizzled with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. It's hard to describe the balance of textures and flavors... the peppery arugula, the astringent citrus, the sweet tomato, the nutty cheese. And they get the proportions just right, so that no ingredient overwhelms.

The pizza sauce, too, is quite unique here. It's concentrated, acidic, and yet among the sweetest I've experienced -- far more reminiscent of fresh garden tomatoes than the canned puree used by many competitors. Flavor bright enough to make you squint.

It's actually a good thing that this establishment is out on Staten Island. The location translates into a less tourist-packed, somewhat quieter dining experience. Personally, I'd rather tax my retinas with Joe & Pat's eerie, aqua "Mausoleum on Mykonos" ceilings than cope with the 112 decibel roar and elbows in the kidneys that accompany an experience with the competitors.

Joe & Pat's may not hold my personal trophy for Best Pizza of All Time (that honor belongs to Lombardi's, in part because I am so partial to the flavor of a coal oven pie), but none of the other top tier players have an arugula salad like this. Or quite the same crunch. This is indeed one of the best pizzerias in New York.

I have developed an urgent need to return in the immediate future for more crust analysis. Dynamite. At one point, I believe our waitress was laughing at me. But then, so does everyone. I think I'm finally used to it.

Joe and Pat's was my parents hang out in the 60's. My mom had me laughing when her and my aunt walked here in a snowstorm Christmas day and they both started crying when they realized they were closed. They were 12.

Tonight I was able to understand how upset they were because the pizza here is perfect. Paper thin yet with enough crispiness that it it doesn't collapse when eating it. Best to use hands with these slices. The sauce is sweet yet cooked to a temp that make it perfect. The house salad is so basic but so good you'll keep going back for more.

The portions are huge so go here starving.

For a girl who isn't a pizza lover, I think I've found the pie of my dreams!!

3.5 actually

The pizza here is seriously thin.. The sauce is some of the sweetest I have had.. It tasted very much like San Marzano to me.. I dont know what kind of tomatoes they use but, if I had to bet, it would be San Marzano.. The sauce is fairly simple and really is there to highlight the tomatoes.. For me, the slice was over sauced.

The crust is some of the thinnest I have had.. At the end of the pizza they do not really form the fold over crust.. It kind of just ends flattly..

I think I could eat 6 or seven slices of the regular slice before getting a little full.. I just wish I had back up so I could have tried the clam or scungilli pizzas.. Next time I am bringing the warehouse manager. Not fresh mozz, surprised to see cubes.. Though the cheese was fine..

Next up the Sicilian.. This happens to be my favorite out of the two types of slices.. I felt the bread really helped mellow out some of the sweetness from the sauce.. Like the addition off grated cheese on top in addition to the mozzeralla.. I got a corner slice.. Some of the better Sicilian I have had recently..There is a lot of cheese under that sauce..

So from door to door it was like 11 miles.. Including eating, running around looking for an Atm, and walking into some average looking Pork Store, it took me 45 minutes..

Prices are expensive I guess.. I am not really too up on prices of things but, 625 for a slice, a Sicilian, and a literal Dixie cup of soda, seemed like more then it should have been.. Especially since they arent even using fresh Mozzarella..

Next trip to WU-ville, I am hitting up Denino's Pizzeria Tavern..

Worth the drive over the Verrazano.
I absolutely love thin pizza and J&P delivered with a crust that was almost cracker thin and crunchy. The thin layer of cheese on top is achieved by placing cubes of cheese strategically on top of the pie before baking and the sauce was nice and tangy.
And unlike other "Best of NY" places J&P also serves by the slice.

Joe & Pat's is a good family pizzeria. There are things that I like about their pizzas and there are things that I think can be better but all in all, I think it's a good place to get a quick slice.

Joe & Pat makes some of the thinnest sliced pizza you'll ever find. Good for carb-conscious eaters like me. Plain pizza with a little sprinkle of cheese is perfection and it's the way that I prefer to eat pizza. Since I usually don't eat the crusts on pizzas, their pizzas don't even have a crust to speak of and I can eat the entire pie. The sauce is truly the sweetest I've tasted.

Some downers are when you order a pie with more than one topping, I think the pizza maybe too thin (it's as thin as paper) to hold its crispness. I ordered one pie with green peppers and pepperoni and it just wasn't as crisp as a plain slice. It's also kind of pricey for a pie that's not that filling.

A nice pizza joint if you want to sit in and eat, because there is no parking around the place, so usually you walk there. I didn't feel anything special, from the decor of the pizzeria. I like how they make thin crusted pizza because to much bread ruins the flavor.

In my estimation, the most compelling reason ever to set foot in Staten Island is to eat pizza. That's the only reason I went there this time, and even though I got lost and had to walk around the Island in blistering summer heat for a couple of hours, and even though Denino's was closed (yes, sorry, Joe and Pat's--you were my second choice for popping my SI Pizza cherry), and even though we wound up eating at 3PM, about eight full hours after my very meager breakfast, the pizza experience at J&P's was among the most satisfying in my life. Honestly, I don't know why they can't make Pizza like this all over the city, and it's a little shocking that Staten Island has the best great-pizza-to-person ratio of any county in the United States, but oh well. At least the ferry is free.

The pizza is very tasty, although as many people have pointed out...SUPER thin. I ate almost the entire pie in one sitting save for a couple pieces i finished a little later in the day, and I could've eaten the whole thing easily.

Sauce is one the sweet side, but still good. Cheese is thin, not a lot, but enough to be satisfying. Pie is like 16 bucks...not too bad but honestly if you're hungry and with one more people, make sure to order at least two.

On top of the ovens, they have a ton of empty, assembled pizza boxes.   When I picked up my order, it felt like they handed me an EMPTY box by mistake.  I looked inside, and couldn't believe there was actually a pizza inside!  A Large must weigh around 13 ounces.  Yeah I know, some people like thin crust, and so do I, but this is ridiculous!  I'm not a big eater, and I could have easily wolfed down the entire thing by myself in 15 minutes, and STILL been hungry.  Where's the bee... er pizza?

Yes the pizza was very good, but it was waaaay too thin and pricey.  The kid delivering had an attitude, so he didnt get his quarter.

Earlier this week, my friend brought me a few slices he had left over from this place, which I reheated and liked....so I agreed today to go all the way to Staten Island from Paramus, NJ....This is quite a far trek just for pizza I know.....but it was well worth the trip!!!  This is how ALL PIZZA SHOULD BE.  The crust of this pizza is perfect.....paper thin...crispy...I was shocked and amazed that it did not come from an oldskool coal oven...you'd never know the difference!  The sauce is great....I've never had sauce that reminded me so much of homestyle italian momma-made gravy.  Nice and sweet and hearty...but not overly acidy or overpowering.  The cheese tasted nice and fresh and was just the right amount (too much can make it soggy).  The quality and freshness of ingredients was very nice....of course, expect to pay more for this luxury but if you have the cash to spend its totally worth it.  From now on this will be the standard I set for all pizza to compare too....and its a really high bar to live up to.

Worth driving to from Manhattan with too many people in the car? Yes. A thousand times, yes. So good. I'll fly back just for this place if I have to.

Joe & Pat's has been around for ages (literally).  They make the best pizza *ever*!  Extremely thin, yet chewy crust (not crispy like a cracker), delicious tomato sauce and cheese.  I am happy just to order a plain pie.  The only drawback to the thin crust is that I need to eat more slices to be full.

Great slice.  Crispy, with the dark burnt spots on the bottom like real pizza should have.

Best round pizza ...EVER! Like previously mentioned - don't get too many toppings - the crust is THIN! and besides, the pizza is so good you don't need them anyway. Pizza is so delicious and thin you don't realize how much you've eaten. Their fried calamari melts in your mouth - I always request "rings only, no legs" and they bring it no problem. Zoupa de mussels - out of this world. This is real deal Staten Island. I make sure I have Joe and Pat's everytime I'm home to visit. Sometimes I dream of their pizza, then try to get a slice out here in LA and get unbelievably PISSED because NOTHING will ever measure up to Joe and Pats!

Pretty good family pizza restaurant. I used to go there all the time when I lived in the neighborhood. Without a doubt one of the best pizza joints on Staten Island. They recently expanded and I had my kids graduation party there a year ago.

Joe and Pats makes the best pizza ever!  Its thin and crispy, crunchy the way I like it! The sauce is not to sweet not to bitter, its just right. They also have bomb pasta fasulli, and the mussells marinara is to die for. Before I had a car I would ride my bike here just to get a fix, and when I'm back in town, its a definite stop before I head back to the west coast. One of thses days I'll bring some back with me so my friends can see what I'm raving about!

This is the best pizza I've ever eaten, bar none.  Thin crust, excellent tomato sauce and cheese, and real pepperoni - not that thinly sliced stuff prepacked stuff you see everywhere, but pepperoni that has clearly been sliced from a honest to goodness pepperoni...  Hardcore Staten Island place - you may think you are in a Sopranos episode at times...

Forgive me if I'm alone here, but this wasnt my favorite pizza or even good pizza by a long shot. I mean I like thin pizza, but this is too thin, ther is barely anything to bite into or on. The cheese ended up falling off after it cooled down and my hunger had barely recognized I had ate anything after my first slice.I get the idea, this pizza is supposed to be very minimal, but there was nothing to even taste, it was neither cheesy nor saucy  and I was thinking to myself this needs salt!. oNE of the better things is the dough which is crispy and delicious but not so on the interior of the pie where it was like soggy bread. There is no crust because the sauce flows to the very very edge of the pie. I'm going to give it 3 stars unitl I go back and do a second taste but as it stands I rather get a slice from Pizza Hut.

best pizza on ze island!  best that I've tasted, anyway.  thin crispy crust, not too much cheese.  if you order toppings, just beware that the crust can't handle too much wet.  i usually get mine with just mushrooms.  sooo good.  their other foods like salads and pasta are good too.
the eat-in decor is not so great, but not bad really.  The service is very casual.  I usually get delivery.

Great Pizza, though a little pricey, this staple of Staten Island cuisine has been around for so long for a reason...consistently good food.  Their marinara is exquisite, their Chicken Fanscese out of this world.  Both at the restaurant and delivered, you can't do better on Staten for the money.  Also, try their out of sight fried zucchini.  Even if it's not your favorite vegetable, I dare you to stop at just one, or for that matter five.

This is some of the best pizza you will find in the metro area. Super thin slices (yes, that's a good thing) and very very high quality ingredients make this S.I. mainstay a real treat. Pizza lovers should definitely check it out!

Great pizza but way overpriced. To top it off they tack on a delivery charge which is ridiculous.
