Lots of fabric, great selection of that. The person who cuts the fabric is nice and patient when I'm taking like five minutes deciding on how much yardage I want. The cashiers are okay, friendly most of the time. But everytime I needed some sort of sewing notion right then they were out :( C'mon guys - carbon tracing paper, ironing blankets, wtf?

I'm glad there is a fabric store relatively close to where I live, but they could improve on some things. I haven't checked out their sewing pattern selection yet (I order mine online mostly) so I'll get back to ya'll on that when I see.

I was just telling my friend the other day that I'm switching my title of Scientist to Crafter (I like Craftster better).  Yep, it's official.  I just need a badge and place of employment.

I needed some sewing notions and scrapbooking supplies.  A one stop shop, sure why not?   I pick out some cheap fabric linings and ask the lady cutting them to help me with the interfacing and interlining.  She says she's not a sewer.  Fair enough.  I ask if anyone else can help me.  She says everyone's upstairs.  Well, can they come down?  I get a blank stare and some incoherent excuse.  What the fuck?

I felt like Jo-Ann's is like a Walmart for crafters.  Pretty ghetto with cheap prices and no expertise.

This store really isn't my taste, but for your basic needs and things you want to practice on, it doesn't put too much of a dent in your wallet.  The sales seem to be fantastic, but don't expect it to be YOUR one stop shop.

Pros:  Inexpensive practice supplies
Cons:  Very limited scrapbooking stickers, dated fabric, cheap threads.

The store is clean, and there is a decent fabric selection. I like the back section where you can sit back and relax while looking through the fabric books and patterns.  That area and the fabric area are nice and tidy.

I am a new sewer and had a hard time figuring out what type of fabric to use for a pattern (didn't know what georgette was) and I asked three people and never got a clear answer.  The manager, Joann is nice and knowledgeable but the staff seemed like high schools and act clueless when you ask a question.

Seems like a good place for quilters.  The price was okay.  I look forward to trying a more inexpensive place.

Decent selection of fabric, plenty of help on hand if you need it, and the pattern section is always organised & quiet when I go in.

weekends are a zoo, so I try to pick up my notions & stuff during the day.
Somebody said parking was a hassle; even in the middle of a busy saturday I've always had a spot to park.

Why only 3 stars? While they keep the fabric & pattern section organised, I've found the rest of the store to be a bit chaotic.....items mislabeled or shoved behind things, or frequently out of stock.

Definately more fabric than crafts.  Great selection of no-pill fleece.

The craft aisles are so narrow that my shoulders brush the end caps.  Now, I'm not petite, but I'm not a linebacker, either.  Went shopping with my over tired 4 year old and had a really hard time keeping her from taking stuff off all of the shelves, even though she was in the cart because the aisle was too narrow.

They almost always have the fabric I need- quite often on sale, but almost never have the craft items I need.  What I need is a Jo-Anns right next to a MIchael's!

They have everything here, and it is well marked. You know what is on sale, there's no confusion. They don't mix in non-sale items with sale items. Staff is friendly, and the line to cut fabric is super fast. Love it.

I have to give this place props for being so patient with me.  My husband and I decided to make blankets for people so we need materials.  We drove over to Jo-Ann Fabrics and they were just about to close.  They let us in though and waited for us to choose everything, cut out fabrics, and checked us out.  They probably helped us a good 15 minutes after closing.  I much appreciated it.  There was only one lady who was a little bit sarcastic with us because we look young and she probably thought we were obnoxious kids, but I totally understand because in her mind she probably thought we were wasting her time, but for the most part she exchanged pleasantries with us during out little visit and she wasn't not nice.  They have so many options as far as materials that we found what we needed and were able to get out as fast as possible.  Lots of stuff, good price, and all in all really helpful nice people.

I frequent this Jo-Ann's often because of its location. I'm a knitter and scrapbooker so I don't really have a say on their fabrics since I never use them. I like their selection of scrapbooking supplies and their yarns are pretty basic. I like their Red Heart Soft yarn (my favorite acrylic yarn), and their Paton's wool yarn for felting. Their Homespun collection is pretty extensive too. Also, they have a good selection of craft buttons. The staff is pretty good. They're usually so busy with women complaining about their coupon or that the sale sign was misplaced and they wouldn't have gotten 40 yards of the fabric if the sign that said it was 50% off was placed correctly. If I heard that much complaining all day, I wouldn't be nearly as friendly as the staff is.

For simple projects or beginner knitters and crocheters, this is a good store to get started, but once you want to start making bigger projects and really invest in them, you'll probably want to go to a yarn specific store. Oh, I really like the bamboo needles they have - the straight needles. I'm not one for plastic or metal needles and the bamboo needles they have are great. If you catch them during a sale, they sometimes put all needles and crochet hooks on 40% off!

This is one of the Jo-Ann stores I go to most frequently, mostly because it's the closest one and it has an ok selection.  They're in the middle of rearranging things it seems, but they seem to usually have the embroidery and fabric items I need.  I have run into a few occasions when fabrics ran out before I got them, though I was able to find them at another location.  They do seem to carry a wider variety of trims though.  Their paper crafting area needs a bit of work, though at least they carry the nice DCWV paper stacks I like (they run out pretty quickly though!).

What I don't like is that the parking lot is always packed, now that a Chuck E Cheese has opened up a few doors down.  They've also made a bunch of the parking 20 minutes only, so park a bit further away and walk over.

There's always a line to grab fabric here. I didn't even know that people still made their own clothes or anything else for that matter until I'm waiting in line behind 10 people to get one or two yards of fabric for an art project I decided to do.

But the staff is really nice here and I have learned that instead of wasting my time waiting in line, I peruse the other sections where there is nearly always a big sale on some household item because no one ever goes here for things other than fabric.

Location: Close to Vallco in a strip mall.

Selection: The best selection of fashion fabrics of the Bay Area Jo-ann's I've visited. The pattern area is awkwardly situated, and the threads & buttons are off in a really small corner. But there's tons of fabric and home dec stuff.

Sales: The typical Jo-Ann's sales and clearance section.

Staff: Very nice and helpful. Amazingly, this Jo-Ann's was actually not understaffed when I was there.
