Review from Julia Z.
Service here was good, friendly and funny. One of the owners waited on us and she was happy to bring our super-picky three year old just sausage and beans from their Irish breakfast menu choice. Nice!
Husband had the special tuna sandwich on parmesan-crusted bread which he repeatedly said was the best sandwich he'd ever had in his life. My daughter and I shared the steak and ale pie which was above average. It would have been better for me without peas -- I hate them -- but the vegetables were clearly fresh, not canned... the peas varied in size and the carrots and onions were delicious. The mushroom pieces were generous and cooked perfectly. We also had the Irish potato skin starter which was tasty but a little expensive for what it was. Still, somehow our total bill ended up being $10 less than Red Robin usually is.
It was busy and crowded on a Friday night but we didn't wait for a table and the noise level was surprisingly acceptable. We will go back.
P.S. I have no idea how this pub would rate from a drinker's perspective. I'm glad though that like most real pubs in Ireland and the UK, there's not any attitude against families coming in for a meal... you don't have to drink yourself blind to be welcome. The kitsch is a bit overdone, but that part of a good pub's friendly attitude and neighborhood-gathering-place orientation is real. In a strip-mall location in Redmond, it takes a powerful force of personality from the owners and servers to pull that off... good on them!
The current Yelp special is that the first five checkins get their beer glass upgraded to a 25 oz mug for free. I did not partake, but if you're drinking, it's a nice special. -

It's not hard to mess up Irish pub fare, but they managed it with runny Shepherds pie and dried out burger.
The menu was covered in ripped plastic. Is it really that hard to run a restaurant that you can't replace the menus once in a while?
I'm embarrased as an Irish American. -

A couple of coworkers and I came here one day after work. I had a coupon for some free beer, but I dont' think the waitress ever gave it to us. As for the food, it was lackluster. You would think that Shepard's Pie at an Irish pub would be somewhat decent-- instead, it was too much mashed potatoes and not enough flavor. My friend ordered the Guinness Pie and it wasn't that great either.
Food is a 2 thumbs down. -

This place has always been alright. A nice quick place to pop in for some happy-hour before going to Bella Botega for an evening movie. Not the greatest food in the world, but decent enough.
But!! A few months ago some friends of mine were doing the exact same thing, when one of then went to the restroom after she ordered her food. She said that while she was washing her hands, she noticed somthing on the wall. Looking closer, she soon realized that it was many baby cockroaches creeping out of a crack in the wall!! Ick! She quickly ran out and they promptly left after telling the manager of the situation. He didn't seem very worried about it, by the way.
Needless to say, they are never going back. And neither am I. -

Irish Coffee in an Irish pub. Should be good, right?
Nope, not if you make your Irish Coffee with something that resembles Reddi-Whip.
The atmosphere is Generic Suburban Pub with vague gestures at Irishness by way of a few signs on the wall and such, but the menu is standard bar fare, and even the draught beers on tap are nothing more interesting than what you could find pretty much anywhere.
As the little Yelp rating system suggests, for two stars, "Meh". -

This wasn't our first time here, but it will our last.
First let me explain that this is a seat yourself restaurant that does not accept reservations (heard different answers about this). Half way thru our meal (which I will get to later), we were asked to move to a different table in the bar side of the restaurant. Really? Why? Oh a reservation! I see, so you only don't accept reservations when our friends call to make them, but you do for this group. My biggest issue with this is if you want to tell me where to sit you should have done it when we first came in. So we chose not to move tables because we wouldn't have been comfortable in the table where they were going to put us. Fun part is we ended up being even more uncomfortable as the reserved party slowly started using our table area for staging as the rest of the group arrived. Even funnier part is we would have been long gone if our food hadn't taken forever to come out.
The little personality the waitress had was rude. Our waitress, last time was awesome, and fun; just what you expect from a pub waitress.
The food was ok. I guess I had a better memory of what the food tasted like than was actual reality. The soda was completely gross and flat, but hey they do specialize in beer.
It was good that we checked the bill, because even though the waitress took a few dollars off the bill for "our troubles" we had extra items on the bill that we didn't get.
We are usually good tippers, today the tip was less than $.50, and I don't feel bad. -

When you live in Redmond, your idea of a good time varies greatly than all the cool kids spending their Sunday evening at some cool place in Seattle. In Redmond all you need is some good friends*, cheap beer, cheap but delicious appetizers, and a cheesy summer action flick within stumbling distance.
That being said this faux Irish-Pub in a strip mall in Redmond has it all, and is pretty cool!
-All day Happy Hour on Sundays, during Sounders games, and from 3-6 pm daily. Including $3 drafts and cheap appetizers.
-Mac & Jacks, Smithwicks, Guiness, Pyramid Hefeweizen and Harp Lager on Tap.
-Huge Selection of delicious appetizers for $4-6 each during Happy Hour, including: Mac & Cheese Bites, Onion Rings, Potato Skins, Chicken Wings, corn poppers, etc. Even some regular food is discounted, such as cheeseburger and fries and chicken strips and fries.
-Outdoor Patio
-Quick, awesome service, from a super nice and funny server.
- Discounted tickets for the Bella Bottega theatre next door.
-If you check in on Yelp after 2 visits you unlock a free upgrade from a pint to a mug of beer!
I imagine I will be here a lot on Sundays to enjoy some quality time with friends over beers before a crappy movie, in a crappy movie theatre. But I will enjoy all my time at JJ Mahoneys!

Yelp helped me get a bigger beer here! That's always a plus!
JJ's is a few doors down from Redmond's movie theater, and has always been my place to stop for pre-movie foods. Today was only an acceptation since I went post movie.. but I digress!
Bangers and Mash! I cannot fully articulate just how delicious their Bangers are! (That's Irish Sausage fyi) served with Mashed Potatoes (Mash) cute lil corns and soda bread with raisins!
Fridays and Saturdays are insanely busy and it can be hard to get a seat, but I'd expect nothing less from such an excellent establishment. If you have no patience for eating out on the weekends, you have no business eating out at all. Weekends are busy, though Sunday is an all-day happy hour... :3 -

Mahoney's is a small pub/bar in a shopping area next to a movie theater, so we stopped by for some late lunch before a movie. The space felt a bit crammed, maybe it was because we got seated right next to a table that was overflowing with some exited, card playing, uber loud peeps...with a 6 month baby in tow. After about 20 minutes we managed to tune out the noise and enjoy or meal.
I ordered a pastrami sandwich. Pastrami was very dry, and when I tasted my sister's corned beef sandwich, strangely the meat tasted identical, with the exception of Pastrami being sliced thinner. Proper corned beef should fall apart in your mouth and pastrami should be moist.
Clam chowder was very average as well. Service was adequate.
I think I'm going to stick to the Wild Rover for pub fair.
P.S. One cool thing though, you can purchase discount movie tickets for $7.50 or $8.00. -

Some eastsider friends convinced us to head their way for a trivia night (a lot of fun) and to celebrate a birthday (even MORE fun). So I crammed as many as would fit in my car and we traversed the distance to land at JJ Mahoney's.
The place was absolutely packed as evidenced by the full parking lot. On trivia nights, they are the busiest but we had a good table. Our wily friends were already there, firmly ensconced at a table to sit all of us. We ordered pints and eventually food, waiting for trivia to begin.
I wouldn't have called it "geek" trivia as they did but maybe I'm used to a higher level of geek chat than the host. You're given the option to place a side bet for a cash pot and we all kicked in. We tied for first place and ended up in second. We won the monies though because the other team didn't pony up. Our group unanimously decided to give the birthday girl in our party all of the winnings.
The service was attentive and friendly. Our server checked on us often despite her overabundance of customers. The bathrooms were clean and food came out quickly. Ah yes, the food. I enjoyed mine (the bangers + mash with TWO varieties of potato) and a small house salad. One of my friends didn't care for his Sheppard's (sic) Pie - for one, it was made with minced beef (should be called a Cottage Pie then) and grossly laden with cheese. I mean there was way too much cheddar melted on top that portion enough for two people! I'd skip it unless you are super hungry, care nothing for your cholesterol and plan to jog the 10 miles home.
Overall I'd say that this place is an over-the-top "Irish" bar with lots of ephemera that screams, HEY LOOK AT ME, I'M IRISH! I prefer my nights out at a quieter pub with slightly better food. Call me an elitist westsider if you like, I'll shrug my shoulders and point you to a better pub :P -
Review from Kris Z.
For those looking for a decent place to get a bite this place isn't bad. They have the typical Irish fare. A burger that can hold its own, and a decent selection of Irish and local taps. Every time I come I'm tempted to order the full Irish to see how it compares to that on the other side of the pond. They even carry black raven from time to time wish makes me want to give them 3.5 alone.
Now I've actually been to Ireland and my share of Irish pubs there which are legend. The food at them isn't always spectacular (hence the "gastropub" movement there), and they tend to be about people and socializing. What bugs me the most is that there are massive televisions everywhere. If you come for conversation someone is going to be eventually spacing out to the tube. If you're coming to watch a game however, you won't be disappointed. They do have checkers at some of the small tables which is fun, creative and social.
I've never encountered the poor service people talk about and I've been a dozen or so times. Maybe I've been lucky. I've actually had a good share of nice waiters and waitresses here. YMMV.
Bottom line: Good for decent pub fare. Pretty pints of the black stuff. Way too many glowy things on the walls. -

We've gone here mostly for trivia, which is always crowded so make sure to get there early if you want a good seat.
The food selection is large, but nothing ever jumps out at me, so I usually stick with the sourdough burger dip. I've subbed the veggies for fries several times and they always come out nice and crisp, not soggy, which leads me to believe they are steamed fresh, not frozen. The fries are quite good too though. A few friends have tried the more traditional Irish food offerings such as the lamb and sheperd's pie and have declared them quite tasty. My fiancé has tried a few of their burger specials, including a peanut butter burger, and loved them all. There's also a cheaper menu for the late night with some options like corn dogs.
The wait staff is super friendly and even when the place is packed, they are always on top of everything.
The drink election is pretty nice for the size of the bar and the tap rotates often so you always have a new choice there if desired. -

This place is a joke, if getting treated like crap is your thing, then you'll love this place.
Slow service and staff so insecure they can't look you in the eyes.

Since my last review I have been back twice. This last time was after church on Sunday. We were starving and we needed food immediately, we were on the brink of death. Just KIDING. Anyway I should have taken photos. This statement can be good or bad, in this case it is the latter.
My 5 year old ordered the sliders which she loved. My other daughter (11), husband and myself decided on the fish n chips. BIG mistake, in my opinion and everyone else's at the table. First, the waiter should have clued in on the serving size was way too big for a young lady. There was 4 big pieces of fish we could have shared. Which really pissed me off because my first thought was not being a good waiter and was plumping the bill. The fish was I swear dipped in Bisquick. I am not joking it had a pancake taste and feel to it. Not to mention that it was way to much batter. I had to dig out my fish with my fork and to boot the tarter sauce was not good. Gross we did not send it back, but we left knowing that we won't be back not even for the Guinness...so sad for us but they are not the only joint that serves a good pour.
Service was not great we kept looking for our waitress that we love. If I think about it we like her so much that we have overlooked the quality of food because her service is awesome and the Guinness is perfect. Since his service was not so good the food really stood out to us for what is was.
NOT consistent or appetizing. I wish I would have Yelped my other not so good experiences. So you could see the decline, but honestly I get tired of Yelping not so good places. I like to focus on the good Yelps.1 Previous Review: Show all »

So I saw this place one afternoon while eating at Yummy Pho just a few doors down (check out my review). I made a mental note to try it sometime and promptly drug a few people with me a few weeks later to give it a go. It was a Friday night so the place was jammed but we were lucky enough to get a table that just opened up. Service was pretty good for it being so busy, a bit better than I had expected.
Food wise it's not to die for but just right if you are in need of a sandwich or burger fix. Plenty of beer available and the homemade potato chips on the menu are quite tasty! I also hear a rumor that you can buy discounted movie tickets for the Regal next door and plan to attempt this at a later date. So I guess that means I'll be back! -

This place is average. The food is a pretty good mix of American and Irish pub food, and the happy hour deals are great. Their drinks are excellent. It's a nice place to meet a few friends before seeing a movie at Bella Bottega next door to the strip mall this place is in.
I absolutely would NOT recommend this place as a bar to bring a large group to for a fun night out. The place is very cramped with booths and nailed down tables. No standing room, no ability to move a chair to the end of the booth. Every time I've been here when it's been busy, the place has felt understaffed, or in some cases, the servers have gotten in long conversations with their regular customers while making my table wait forever to get a few pints of beer. It's hit or miss whether you'll get a friendly server or someone who makes you feel like you're being a hassle just by telling them your order.
It's a decent place if you're in that corner of Redmond wanting that type of food, but as far as being a cool Irish pub experience, you can do a lot better by checking out some of the more spacious and authentic Irish Pubs in the area (Wilde Rover, Paddy Coyne's, pretty much every Irish Pub in Seattle...) -

The food was bland. But hey this is an Irish pub, isn't the food supposed to be bland, the beer warm and the bar staff ugly? Sure, but this is good ol America. The barmaids are hot, the beer is cold and Guinness pie is supposed to resemble nothing sold in Ireland and taste great.
The beer was good and I cannot complain about the service. It had a warm feel to the interior considering it was in a strip mall. When your in Seattle area coming from California, warmth is well, a distant memory. The Guinness Pie was warm tho! -

I used to visit here for beers with friends and the occasional grub. It was fine. Recently I went there with 3 good friends for some catch-up beers and we were treated like crap. Just to begin with, the waitress seemed snobby or not happy to be there. We got some food off their sad menu (since they stop making real food at 9pm or something) and ordered 2 pitchers of beer.
When our second pitcher came out, the glasses were stuck together pretty hard so we accidentally broke one while trying to get it unstuck and put the broken glass on the empty table opposite us. She came over and had a pissy look on her face, but was nice enough to bring us a new glass.
That was apparently our last pitcher for the night as the rude, and obsessively unattractive, waitress approached us with the check and said it's last call... at 11PM. We asked if we are getting cut off or something of the sort and she said yes, because the bartender didn't like the previous incident. This is also after about 20 minutes of us sitting there with no service. Why waste our time?
I am sorry to see an establishment so broke that they cannot afford to break a free glass. Yes free, because your suppliers usually give them to you for free and if not, I am certain it's something ridiculous, like $1 per glass at most. It's called wholesale supply. Also, I can see why this place is so broke to not afford a broken pint glass, because they apparently don't want to make 3,000% markup on alcohol from 4 normal guys, dressed nice, and who aren't even being rowdy.
This place is a joke. Go to Celtic Bayou down the street, if you don't want the snobby, and sore-on-the-eyes waitress, and a bartender that doesn't get his panties in a bunch. Oh, they also shut off their grill at 9pm. What kind of pub is this?Comment from Bryan S. of JJ Mahoney's Irish Pub 5/3/2011

Always a good experience each time I come here.
Highly recommended is the Sourdough Dip and the Fish & Chips-YUMMERS. A good variety of beers on tap-they even have stuff from Black Raven Brew which is awesome.
They have HH all day Sunday- score! And the menu is pretty diverse. Lots of greasy snacks and beer choices to kick back to and watch a game. It can get fairly crowded, especially in the bar...but it's cozy and fun. Loud with friendly people around you. -

The one and only time I went to JJ Mahoney's I found a very large shard of glass at the bottom of my glass of beer.
The bartender just shrugged . . . and showed it to another waitress.
No apologies.
If they don't lose customers because of their crappy wait staff, they will lose them by killing them off with shards of glass down the throat.Listed in: When You're With The Irish

Our favourite Friday night boozer in Redmond. Guinness is kept really well. Wife says wine choice isn't 1/2 bad too...
Food is good pub grub, reasonable price. Sells discounted Movie Tickets too. Handy for a quick beer and movie after. Staff are pretty friendly - more so with time.
Lots of choice for seating, stools and high tables at the bar, large 6+ booths, even a few team-size 10+ tables for larger groups, in between tables for 2 and 4. Patio is good during summer. Gets pretty busy on Fri/Sat evenings - worth arriving earlier.
Usually has US and European sports on throughout the day including Rugby and Soccer. Perfect place to hangout if you can't make it to see the Sounders.Listed in: My Neighborhood

?!!!!!
This place is ridiculous. We stopped in for a late dinner, around 10:00PM on Tuesday. Yes, I realize we are in Redmond, and it's Tuesday, but this place was supposed to be a pub or something...? And we'd had a couple semi-decent lunches there. Never, ever attempt to eat at this place at night. Just don't.
The waitress was incredibly rude. Really. Unapologetically pissy. She came over and announced that we were limited to the Happy Hour menu. ??? OK... we checked it out, and it was a sad little list. You know you're screwed when chips and salsa is one of 10 menu items. I'm pretty sure Wendy's has a better selection. I thought well, at least the food will probably taste somewhat OK...so let's just gut it out.
Bad, bad call. My husband asked for a pilsner, and asked for the waitress to recommend something. No pilsner, and she was "not a fan of the beers, in general." He pointed to a nearby table and asked what some others were drinking. She didn't know. She didn't even attempt to find out. She said, "...probably...Harp's?????" Since when does the waitress at an IRISH PUB NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT BEER? Are you freaking kidding me right now???
I ordered the calamari and a house salad. Normally, this would have been a fair choice. No. The calamari was overdone and tasted like something it came out of a Costco freezer case about 10 years ago. My salad was even sadder, with huge pieces of green leaf lettuce (nothing high end, of course), and the most GHETTO white-bread teeny cube croutons I've ever seen. My grade school cafeteria had better croutons, for Christ's sake.
My husband's chicken strips and onion rings = ditto on the Costco frozen food action...
A beer (we're not sure what it was), chicken strips, a couple sad onion rings, calamari and white trash salad, a diet coke...just guess how much the bill came to. $30. I shit you not. My husband almost started laughing when he saw that. Worst value, food, and service we've had in a long, long time. Never again.Listed in: 10 Worst Restaurants

This place feels like an Irish pub stuck in a strip mall. Which it is. Wanted to go to another restaurant, but with line out the door, we settled here since we were starving. It was pretty packed in here, so thought it was kinda a good sign. I wanted chowder, they were out. So I compromised and got the french onion soup and some potato skins.
The potato skins were as bland as bland could be! Bacon, cheese, green onions... with side of sour cream, and yet NO flavor. I dipped them in my date's ketchup! didn't help. He tried one and said it tasted like dirt. He got the chicken sandwich which looked pretty good. I wasn't wowed and I know there are way better Irish Pubs around. -

Now I may be a bit biased for two reasons, first I work in the same strip mall at a store which I have been going to since before they where even here. And second, because I started my 21 here. Myself and about 10 friends of mine walked at midnight on a mon-tue, they normally close at 12 but stayed open till 1 so my friends could pour several shots of liquor down my throat.
Now I think of them as a bit on the pricey side, but mostly cause I'm a poor bastard, they aren't too different from say red robin, but much better service and food IMO. I normally get a JJ burger which is decent, and their fries are seasoned deliciously. They have several TVs mounted, where I expect to watch a couple Olympic football matches. I also love their encouragement of drunken chess(a personal past time) with a row of tables in the back with a board embedded and pieces hanging in a Crown Royal bag. -

JJ Mahoney's balances itself between irish pub, restaurant, and sports bar with a little bit of each. The Irish pub atmosphere is there (with the beers to match) but there is also a large dining area (complete with typical fare, burgers are above average given the type of establishment) and there are plenty of TVs (ends up being a pretty good spot to watch a game. Service has always been friendly and quick in my experience. Good spot to catch a game or have a pre/post movie dinner (right down the block from Bella Bottega)

The wife and I went to JJ Mahoney's in Redmond Bella Botegga last night at about 5:45, planning on attending a 6:30 movie - not too worried if we showed up at about 6:40 or 6:45 for the movie as we would miss the previews. We seated ourselves. The waitress finally took our order at about 6:00. We got our drinks shortly thereafter - $4.00 for a 16 oz premium beer is not cheap but not excessive either. The problem was, the waitress never brought us our food! We saw three tables that arrived after us get served before us. Our order was not complicated - my wife ordered a cobb salad and I ordered a cheeseburger with no pickles. I had no cash, so at 6:30 I gave the waitress my credit card and said we needed to pay and leave to make our movie (which we already had purchased tickets for). At 6:40, the waitress returned with my credit card.
This is easily the worst service I have ever received in any restaurant. I will not ever be returning. There are far too many good places around Redmond and Seattle. In Bella Botegga, there is the Coho Cafe, and there is also a Thai restaurant and (I believe) a Vietnamese restaurant. Avoid this place like the plague.
EDIT (5/12/08): Gave this place a second chance at the request of new management (kudos to the new management for caring about the service level in the restaurant enough to reach out to a reviewer from a web site like this). Took the wife here last Friday evening for desert and drinks. Service was much better this time. The place was reasonably busy but not bad, we were able to come right in and find a seat at about 9:00 pm on a Friday night. The music is a mix of popular Irish (think U2) and traditional Irish folk music, which I dig. The beer selection is decent, they also have a wine menu. Four bucks for a 16 oz premium brew on a Friday night is not bad. The desert was excellent.
I still don't think this is a great place for a dinner outing, as the music is a bit loud for dinner conversation and the food menu is unspectacular. But this is not a bad place to go to watch a game (there are plasma screens both behind the bar and up in a corner behind some of the tables), or just to grab a couple of drinks for happy hour or before a movie at Bella Botegga cinema. -

I like Irish pubs and my last experience (Owl and Thistle, downtown) was less than pleasant, so I was looking for something to wipe the slate clean. Enter JJ Mahoney's, which I heard about from my parents. Who need Yelp accounts. (Yeah, mom, I called you guys out on it.)
Seat yourself and the staff will come around with menus. A good selection of beers and a small handful of wines, including a wine from a winery that I don't usually see on this side of the mountains (Hard Row to Hoe). Of note, their sliders contain bacon, which makes them some of the best sliders I've found.
Good atmosphere and if you spend ten bucks or more, they'll sell you a discounted movie ticket. For the movie theater right next door. Can't really beat that.
I'll be back to this neat little place. Very cozy, very pleasant, very friendly. And bacon on the sliders!!! I mean, really. -

A great little pub, and definitely a place I would come to watch soccer (that's the one with the black and white ball with all the kicking, right?). Service is excellent, Guinness is plentiful, and the sandwiches are absolutely delicious. Definitely a great venue to drop by after you see a movie next door for a few rounds.
It's not a real large place, so seating is relatively limited. -

Nice place to grab a quick bite for lunch. Not outstanding, but I enjoyed their club sandwich, and the burgers are not bad. Then again, I don't think I've ever met a club sandwich I didn't like ; )
It's very small, so I imagine it can get pretty packed. They have TVs to watch the big game on and all that jazz, and one of my co-workers mentioned something about trivia nights if you're into that kind of thing.
They have some pretty good happy hour deals too, so you might want to give those a peek. -

What a fun Irish pub!
I've frequented it many times and it's a great place to go.
The food is good, the prices are reasonable, the atmosphere is perfect and the staff is always friendly.
The large flat-screens on the walls were perfect when having dinner during the Obama election results. :-)
Also, the dual-seater booths have a added bonus of also being chess/checker boards for if you want to just sit, enjoy a drink with a date and play a game in a relaxed atmosphere.
Finally, while the outdoor patio is just the sidewalk fenced off, it's still nice. During the chilly nights they'll light up the overhead propane heater unit which can also add a nice glow.
Just don't bring your kids... there is limited walking room so a high-chair would be a burden on everyone.
Plus, kids in a pub is just gauche and tacky.
PRO TIP!
If you go, and are also planning on seeing a movie at the Regal theater there, make sure you get tickets at the Pub with your meal! They'll be CHEAPER! -

I stopped in with a friend before catching a movie next door.
It was pretty empty when we got there, service was quick to take the order. We both had the guiness onion soup which was yummy, the dubliner sandwich was also good. Soup came out quick but the sandwiches took a bit longer. I wasn't in the mood for fries but once they arrived I had to try them - also yummy!
We had to find the waitress to pay the bill, but other then that I have no complaints. Bonus, Sunday is all day happy hour so I had soup and a sandwich for $9.
Now I know why my husband and his friends always meet there before movies, though he says they serve the beer Irish style - warm! -

Sure, it has good TV coverage for sports, nice atmosphere, and the beer is sufficiently cold. The service was also really good... I never had to wait more than 90 seconds to get my waitress's attention, and she made frequent checks on the table.
The food is just not good, though. I'm not saying it's bad... no horror stories or anything. Just that it's not even good pub food. It's bad pub food. Too greasy, too frozen-and-thawed, too bland. The shame of it is that once you're going to all the trouble to run a kitchen, and pay for the overhead, and have a big freezer and refrigerator and the rest of the equipment, the difference in cost and effort to move from bad pub food to good pub food really isn't that much.
If you're going to drink, maybe a pre-movie or post-movie stop, you definitely should stop by, I have no problem with it for drinking. Just don't plan on having food that you'll be glad you ate afterwards. -

The food is really good here. Their chicken bacon ranch & turkey club sandwiches are good sized and some of the best on the eastside. Also, being a big fan of soccer, I love being able to watch the games during the day.
My only 2 complaints is that the food takes a while to come out and they won't turn up the sound at all to watch soccer. -

Food update - I hadn't eaten there in a while based on past experiences, while sitting at the bar heard they had changed out cooks last year, so decided to try a burger. I was pleasantly surprised, fresh patty and fixins, above average pub burger, I've bumped my rating up from 3.5 to 4.

Went first time May 26 in a group of 13. Arrived at 6 pm. Good crowd but no apparent waiting/standing. For a pub the food was well above average: Good value for the $$. Won't hesitate to go back, even though it's about 10 miles from us. Good parking, good atmosphere, noisy but not too much. Everyone in the group seemed to enjoy the meal and the service.

Dinner and a movie date?
You bet! This place is it! Several of my foodie friends have told of this place since it opened. But when I think Irish all I think of is Irish stew, which isn't my thing, so I was slow to jump on the bandwagon.
But on a recent 'regular date night with the Doan' the Bella Botega had the movie we wanted to see, and I suggested we finally try JJ Mahoney's. I was not disappointed, I ordered the pastrami sandwich with Irish pub chips (fresh fried potato chips).....OHHH MY GOD, there is something to be said for fresh, hot perfectly crisp fried, to brown potato chips, all they needed was an adornment of salt, skip the ranch sauce for dipping, they don't need it, they are that good! The pastrami was divine! I wanted to ask what their butcher source was, to score me some.. it was perfectly smoked, slightly thicker cut than deli, and very tender, served on a soft baguette (suppose that is the Irish touch?) with swiss and pickle, absolute delish!
The Doan got the Irish Stew, which in my opinion (as always) isn't that big of deal, he said it was ok, looked a little too soupy to me. But it was served along with a piece of very good soda bread, the kind that has the golden raisins as it should. I stole enough of his he had to order another piece.
Our only regret is that we got our movie tickets first, and then went in to eat, saw the sign over the bar about discount tickets with meal purchase. Next time we will eat and get the tickets there! definitely going back for that pastrami and chips, I think Doan will order the same next time!
