I love chinese food! It is my favorite and always will be. I had traveled the well worn roads of Toledo in persuit of the very best of Chinese food....And one day I discovered Jing Chuan. Wooowza! My first bite...i was in love! The hot and sour soup is perfection in a cup~!! It is to live and die for. I have never been disappointed by any dish that I have had.
From the moment that the friendly host seats you to the moment of your check...You will be attended to with care!
I spent one of my happiest birthdays here....We reserved the seating area to the left . The staff was, as always, very attentive and helpful.
The decor is in need of some updating...silk flowers and lace draperies...But it cannot distract from the tasteful delights!
If you have not had jing chuan....You have not had Good Chinese Food!
This is supposed to be the best Chinese restaurant in Toledo...maybe it is. But it isn't very good Chinese food. Am I spoiled? LOL...I just don't think it's very good. It got 2 stars because it's edible and I did eat it. I'm surprised that I did that because it didn't really look appetizing... It cost too much to be so mediocre. The service was okay and the inside is nice to sit in...but that is about where the road ends for me. Other than that I probably won't be stopping by too often for a visit.
I figure I owed Jing Chuan an update for my past several returns -- the latest one being to celebrate Chinese New Year. This place is still one (of the three) restaurants I go to when I crave Chinese food. Yes, one of the other places I am referring to is Elephant Bar and yes, I realize it's pseudo-Chinese food but it's still delicious.
The hot and sour soup was the perfect start to dinner. Despite ordering the medium-sized bowl, it was enough to feed 6-8 people. Having had enough bad experiences with twice cooked pork, I was a bit hesitant to try the dish when my friend ordered it, but it was surprisingly tasty with the right amount of heat. The Yu Shiang Pleasure was equally delightful -- in fact, the sauce pairs well with your meat of choice. The sizzling beef literally sizzles tableside and was a good balance to the other tangy and/or sweet dishes, as was the fried chicken chunks in a salty & spicy sauce.

Let me preface by saying that the folks who own this place did not run the Jing Chuan in Columbus --… Read more »
I'm new to Yelp and never thought I'd find businesses/restaurants in my hometown of Toledo listed, as I now live in Philadelphia. To my surprise, one of my long-time favorite's was reviewed by someone else, which brings me to my own review!
Jing Chuan has been a Toledo tradition for decades! When I first moved to Toledo in 1981, I lived almost directly across the street from it, although it was years later that I actually ventured inside. Once I did, I was hooked!
I cannot get myself to order anything other than the orange beef...the best I've ever had in any city I've visited...and I've traveled a lot! I would guess that I've eaten at J C six to eight times a year and my orange beef has been consistently wonderful each and every time! (My mouth is watering now!) The service is fast, the food is fantastic and the staff is amazingly friendly...it more than makes up for the plastic flowers that line the dining areas.
I can't find this quality of Chinese food in Philadelphia. Someone please send me my orange beef from J C!
Touted as the most authentic Chinese food in Toledo. It's not. We ordered off-menu and still got Americanized Chinese food. Funny--our waiter admitted as much. Okay--it doesn't taste bad, but don't bother if you want the real stuff. My Chinese food experience in Toledo went downhill from here.
This is your typical American/Chinese fare, do not expect to find anything authentic like Dim Sum or Sczehuan Hot pots, but for the standard fare its pretty good, a little above average, for Toledo it is one of the best Chinese restaurants, prices are reasonable, service is OK. For really authentic chinese food either head 45minutes north on 23 to ann Arbor (Chia Shang/Great Lakes) or 4 hours west to Chinatown Chicago that list would take way to long can not go wrong for chinese food there.
I'm not sure who told Fen Z. that this wasn't the same Jing Chuan that was in Columbus - it is. Right down to the same menu, menu cover, tacky plastic flowers, bamboo tables and chairs, and the excellent food - the Walnut Chicken, the crispy springrolls, the tasty kho tay dumplings. I also have a carryout menu from the Columbus location that advertised Jing Chuan on Secor Road. Toledo people are very fortunate - because the food at Jing Chuan is fantastic - and the service is excellet as well. I wish they would come back to Columbus - maybe to a better neighborhood this time......
I haven't been to Jing Chuan's in years but, according to my parents, they still deserve the prize as the best and 'most authentic' Chinese restaurant in Toledo. It's been around forever and anyone who knows good Chinese food swears by this place. From what I remember, the potstickers, Jing Chuan shrimp, and moo shu pork are clear winners. Their signature shrimp (also comes in chicken, I think) is large deep fried shrimp in a light sweet batter. Ten times better than any honey walnut shrimp dish! For lunch, my mom is a fan of their snow white chicken.
This is by far Toledo's top Chinese food.
Food is always tasty. we have sampled most of the menu have yet to be disappointed. This is chinese food where you can actually taste the different dishes. Most places seem to use the same sauce on everything.
The staff are great. We order carry out from here quite often and the food is as good at home as in the restaurant.
I've yet to understand why anyone would like this place. Its overpriced, far from authentic and the meat is from a questionable origin. I'm not kidding, they joke about chinese food being made from cats, but it could very well be true in the instance. If you want decent chinese food, try the Gourmet Garden. Much more authentic, and their chicken is definitely chicken.
Rather disappointed. The food was ok once I asked for special preparation. The food is not vegetarian friendly, all the vegetable dishes were made with chicken stock, I had to ask for no MSG and the food is overpriced for what you get.
