What more can I say that hasn't already been said.
This place is sooooooooo good!  Portions are huge, food is soooo good, service has always been great to me.  There is a definite wait to get seated on the weekends, but isn't that the case at any good bfast place on the weekends?  If there is no line, maybe its because the food aint sooo good. :-)

Ooooo Jim's!!  I miss you so much!

Couple years ago a ton of my roommates, neighbors, and who ever happened to crash on our floor that night would shuttle down to Jim' s with a severe hangover to get our morning grub on. It actually became our new "family" tradition to all congregate at Jim's on Sunday lookin raggity and freshly awake from a long long night.

It's your typical American breakfast joint. The service is way friendly.. and even though there is typically a wait.. it's well worth the bomb chicken fried steak and eggs they serve. Waffles are also to die for. Minus one star for having shitty coffee (this is important to a weekend warrior!)

as i sit here reflecting upon all my fine memories of jim's.... i'm actually formulating tears... but only of joy. there is an amazing feeling one receives when their name is called to be seated! it's at that moment i know that i'm not so far off from enjoying one of their delicious omelets! seriously everything is always just right... the planets may even align while one is having breakfast at jim's! not only are the servers friendly and the meal is reasonably priced but they ever serve beer! so if you're having one of those "i need to even out my blood alcohol mornings" or you're just a boozer who wants a de-lish breakfast with a splash of beer; jim's is the place for you!

thank you.

Jim's is, hands down, the BEST breakfast place in Pleasanton. Their portions are huge, their staff is uber friendly, and the food is delish!

Only problem is if you come during breakfast time, sometimes, it can take super long to get a seat and then even longer to actually get your food..

The wait is SO worth it though.

I am not a big fan. There are 4 breakfast places in Pleasanton, this is the 2nd best, but the gap between 1 and 2 is very large. The hashbrowns are not that good, the home fries aren't much better and the other breakfast items are ok.  That being said they make very good lunches. Their burgers are great and the other sandwiches I have tried are also good. The service ranges from totally ignored to absolutely great, almost no in-between. I just can't get over the fact that their breakfast items are so average. I say go for lunch and you will be happy.

There are lots of places that give you large portions of food to expand your gut with but what good is it if the food sucks and you don't realy want a large portion?

Jim's doesn't have that problem.  They do large portions (probably too big) and the food is solid.  Let's face it, breakfast isn't that hard to do, but when it sucks, it starts your whole day off poorly.  When it's great you absolutely KNOW that your afternoon nap is going to be a solid one.

The staff is super-friendly even when the place seems like a total zoo.  They take the time out to talk with the kids and don't even seem phased when they have to step around one while carrying an armful of plates.

The place is bright and has a good vibe (Dean's is just so damned dark, though I love the food there) and they seem to have a staff that knows what it's like to drag yourself in for a post-party recovery breakfast and they take care of you.

I love it here. It's the place to go when you're feeling for a good comforting, country breakfast. The portions are extremely huge and generous, and the staff is nice and helpful. I always get the chicken fried steak cause their gravy is awesome.

Great Breakfasts. Eggs, bacon, omlettes, home fries, waffles, short stacks, coffee, oatmeal, biscuits, you name it. Awesome greasy southern style breakfast food.

Sometimes I just start Jones-ing for some great French Toast and Bacon.  When I do, nothing really scratches that itch like Jim's Country Kitchen.  I often drag my co-workers and friends there for breakfast meetings and it's just solid breakfast fare served with by a friendly wait staff.  It's not pretentious or anything, just solid Americana.  We've been through the French Toast, the Sausage Gravy and Biscuits, etc.; it's just great execution.  You won't be hungry and you probably can't finish it.  The breakfast burrito is the biggest darn thing I've ever seen.

So let me share with you my last trip to Jims. My friends and I always head here for some delicous Bfast after a rough night on the town for a little pick me up. Not having the best hand-eye coordination in the wee small hours of the morning, I spilt my whole hot chocolate all over our table and on to the floor. Not only was my waitress insanely understanding, she also brought little individual saucers of whip cream to me and all my friends. What a gal!

That being said, the food comes out super fast and the hashbrowns are always done to perfection. I usually stick to the classic two egg bfast and am never dissapointed, but my bottomless pit, glutton men folk friends rave about "the jimmy," an omelette with everything from hamburger meat to shrimp packed into it, that is sure to satisfy any growing boy's appetite.

I grew up in the bay area, and have yet to have a bad meal at Jims...even when I spill my drink all over the place. Enjoy the delicousness!

I had been wanting to try Jim's after reading all the positive reviews on Yelp, so finally got a chance when I met a friend for brunch a couple Saturdays ago.  We arrived about 11 a.m., so there was no wait (I was concerned based on the reviews, but it must be a good time to go).

I got french toast. Always my favorite, so I opted for the 6 haves instead of 4!  I knew I liked the place when they brought me *two* little syrup pourers instead of a measly one that most places bring (I like syrup a lot, OK!?).  The french toast was very good.  I snuck a couple bites of my friend's hashbrowns, which were good too (not as good as the french toast though!).  I saved some hash browns and 2 pieces of french toast to go and reheated them two mornings later and it wasn't that bad really (I put the french toast in the toaster oven so no sogginess).

Service was good overall, though no one ever stopped back by the table after delivering the check, but I flagged down a server so I could get a to-go box and she was friendly and prompt after I asked.  Jim's is not really in my neck of the woods anymore, but if it was, I would come back.

I remembered passing by Jims early in the morning everyday during highschool. I didn't really know or care to visit but I wish someone had introduced it to me sooner. The service there no matter how jam packed with people will always bring your meal in a fresh and fastly order. Besides the prices being redicuisouly low you get a large amount of food that is difficult for anyone to finish. I decided to go today on my lunch break and get the truckey sandwich on weat with a side of fries. Thier breakfast plates are HUGE and they serve a variety of food. But if your feeling any asian cusine you won't find it here (go next door). There style of food is all American breakfast, lunch and dinner. They close early and are mainly open early in the AM for people who mostly have to be at work at 5 in the morning or eailer.

I really like the un-pretentious, simple food here.  All our selections were done just right, eggs, hash browns and french toast.  The chicken fried steak's reputaion is well deserved.  I would definately add Jim's to my list of favorite breakfast places.

It's mediocre as far as breakfast goes.  My linguica was burnt.  Potato's were nothing special.  The pancakes were very very tough.  I guess the portions were large, which sould satisfy the american 'supersize me' waistlines.   I'd give it three stars, but there is some stiff competition in this town.  Say 'Deans' and 'Vics', not to mention Country Waffles down the road just a bit.

Nothing fancy, but their food is really really good.  Portions are HUGE.   Last time we were there we sat next to some out-of-town visitors recently (I think they were in Pleasanton for the Good Guys swap meet) and they were blown away by the size of the sandwiches they ordered.  They kept talking about how huge they were, that they were so good and sooooooooo cheap.

The staff functions like a family.  The waitresses that we see there have been there for as long as I can remember.  It's the kind of place where people come in and will wait to get a table in their favorite waitresses area.  Jim is always there and works just as hard as the staff.  He's simple down to earth guy that puts out some great food.

They serve breakfast and lunch only and close at 3:00PM in the afternoon.  Another strip center place, but who cares because the food is so yummy.

P.S. my kids (9 & 14) love eating here too.  The waitresses are always super nice to them and do little "extras" for them like whipped cream on fruit.......

Excellent place for breakfast. They give you lots of food, and it's YUMMY. The waiters are the best in the west. I'd like to see someone who actually has an empty cup of coffee, cuz it will never happen. They have a dedicated coffee person, and  the coffee is always fresh and hot. I normally order their omelets, pancakes, hash brown (fresh, not the frozen kind), and ham and eggs. I think a good breakfast place is far and few between in the suburbs. Although, I agree with the the other Yelpers who used to hang out at Dean's...The BEST.  On weekends, you'll need to be there before 9am, or else you'll be waiting.

The GF and I decided to stop off at Jim's Country Style Restaurant for some breakfast.  Jim's Country Style Restaurant is located in a stripmall and unless you know it's there, you can easily miss it.  We got here around 9AM and place was already crowded but we were immediately seated for breakfast.

The bust boy was pretty quick, right when we were seated we were handed our menus and asked our drink order.  We look through the menu and they have several breakfast options such as omelets, pancakes, and french toast.  Prices here are on the high side, breakfast starts at around $8 and goes as high as $12 depending upon what you order.

The GF and I decided to split the Vegetarian Omelets with the ranch potatoes, got an order of the fresh fruit, and side of bacon.  The waitress that was serving us seemed indifferent towards us.  We almost wished the Bust Boy was our server because he seemed more interested in serving us than the waitress.  Our order came in about 10 minutes and the food looked good.

It was nice that they pre-split our plate.  Both dishes were big considering that it was a split.  The Veggie Omelets I have mixed feelings on.  While it was full of veggies, the egg was way to thin, it was more like eating a crepe than an omelets.  While I did like that the potatoes weren't greasy, they were more like French fries than a flavorful potatoes.  The "fresh" fruit wasn't fresh at all.  You can taste that it was frozen.  My bacon though was probably some of the best bacon I had in a long time.  In the end it cost us about $25 for breakfast.

So now the rating, this is a truly hard for me to rate Jim's Country Style Restaurant.  While we did get a good amount of food, it's hard for me to think we paid $25 just for 1 omelets, an order of fruit, and a side of bacon.  The bust boy did an excellent job in service but the waitress was in different.  And some of the food was good and some was just plain miss.  So in the end the best I can give is 3 stars and would say might be nice if on your way and can get in quickly but other than that, you're not missing much.

Packed on the weekends, the best place to get breakfasts in Pleasanton since Dean's taken a dive. They do omelets, pancakes, waffles, bacon, sausage and the regular breakfast fair. I have really enjoyed their pancakes; which are fluffly and buttery. Also they are very reasonably priced! It's hot, tasty food but very crowded on weekends. If you're an early riser this is the place for you. The walls are the usual country dcor; flower pictures and green plants. It's in the strip mall with Raley's and Taco bell across from the senior center.

Want a good, oh strike that, GREAT place for breakfast or lunch that is easy on the pocketbook?  Then, Jim is your guy.  Jim's Country Style Restaurant is just what the name implies, the decor to match.  The suburban families with soccer kids gravitate here, but I can ignore that for the tasty grub.

My hubby and I have been going there for 10 years together, he's a native of P-town and has gone there for many years with his family.  He says some of the same servers have been there for at least 10 years...that is a rare thing my friendly Yelper.  When we go in, they usually remember him/us from when we went every weekend.

You better be hungry because Jim's doesn't spare you any space on your plate.  And if you are on a diet, forget about it!  Jim makes the best biscuits and gravy that your green bills can buy, so you must order a side.  Of course, if you want some tremendously rich and sausage-y gravy, come visit my Irish mother-in-law...friends and family crave her dish, but leave needing blood thinner!  (It's soooo good, but only once or twice a year can your body handle it!)

Ahhh, I digress.  Sorry.

While it will be packed on a weekend, they get you in and out pretty quickly (like I said, experienced staff).  They also keep the coffee coming, refills constantly from the busboys.  All the breakfasts are pretty consistent.  I prefer hash browns over country potatoes, but both are good.  The omelets are huge, I usually eat only half.  Pancakes, lots of them, yummy!

Lunch items to try are the French Dip (loaded with meat), burgers, and the BLT with avocado (my choice).  The club sandwich is great too, stacked nice and high.  They serve the steak fries or you can get fruit or a salad I think.

So, I advise you to go to the GYM, then go to JIM's!

Portions are huge is an understatement. It's good food too. Get any sandwich. You'll eat half (maybe) and ask for a go-box for the rest. You don't see many places like this in the Bay Area any more.  It's just basic American food. Imagine Denny's if it weren't a chain...and the food was good...and the portions huge...nevermind, just imagine the anti-Dennys. I only go at lunch on weedays, and the crowds are never too bad. I've never waited more than 5 minutes or so. Don't know about weekends.  The patrons are about 50% blue collar workers on their lunch breaks, 25% elderly people drinking their coffee, and the rest are just other people who live or work in the area. We need more places like this.

The best place in Pleasanton to cure a hangover. Jim's offers a remedy of endless cups of coffee, gigantic omelettes stuffed with whatever you desire, country fried potatoes, greasy sausage n' bacon, and toast cooked to perfection.

Jim's is the place my husband and I come whenever we are craving a huge breakfast, and only want to eat one meal for the day.  It's a great carbo load before heading out for a day of wine tasting in Livermore.  I love the french toast and can rarely keep from ordering a full side of hash browns.  My husband likes the biscuits and gravy, and although he's had better they are some of the best in the area.  The omelets are also good, but make sure if you order the Sue you don't try to change any ingredients in the Sue.  My dad learned that the hard way and got a glare from our waitress, Sue.  The coffee is no good but never empty and can be slightly remedied by flavored creamer at the table, but only slightly.  The atmosphere is hickville personified in the outskirts of Pleasanton, but on any day you can find teenagers, families and little old ladies mixing it  up.   I don't know of any other place in the TriValley that brings people together like that!

Frightfully outrageous in terms of quality versus price. Service is terrible during the weekends, bareable during the week and all depends on the mood of the place. Out of 3 breakfast/lunch places near the downtown area, Vic's All Star Cafe is the best, followed by Deans then Jims.

It's just about the best breakfast place I've had, but the service is crap. My favorite breakfast place in Pleasanton, some prefer Dean's but to me Jim's is the place to be.  Crappy diner coffee, but what do you expect?  Service is full of character, sometimes fun and sometimes full of attitude.  Huge omelette's and pancakes.  I love substituting biscuits and gravy for my toast for only a buck.  I recommend the Sue with hashbrowns, my wife loves the french toast.  Great big sandwiches for lunch too!

I usually stop here for brunch on Sat. or Sunday.  Usually very crowded around noon, but worth the wait.  Large portions, and sandwitches are usually too large for just one person.  I like to get chicken fried steak, which is very tasty, and sandwitches are average to above average.  Favorite among the locals, good service, if you are in the mood big large breakfast this is for you, but you do have to wait a little for you food.

I never thought I would give 4 stars to a eggs & potato kind of breakfast spot, until now... Jims serves very simple breakfasts, with very little to choose from on the menu. However the taste is consistent and yummy. Jims is always packed on the weekends, testifying to how tasty this spot is. Staff is friendly, and you get immediate service(once you are actually seated). Nothing super special about anything on the menu, but people keep coming back to this Pleasanton weekend hot spot. Best to go down to Main Street and cruise the Farmers Market until you work up an appetite, and head over to Jims once the crowd dies down.

Hungry?  Jim will take care of you.  Looking for a good chicken fried steak?  Maybe a nice spicy Linguica?  You'll notice each time that you visit Jim's that the same staff is there ... I think that's a good sign ... low turnover on the staff.  Plus there is something to be said about some good 'ol boys sittin' and talking about all the farming they did before you and I even got up.  You'll see Jim making the delish food and I think his mom will serve the food.  BUT, that could be a rumor.  Oh, a little bonus for those coffee drinkers that like flavored coffee creamer ... THEY'VE GOT 'EM!  Uh huh, the individual vanilla, hazelnut etc. coffee creamers.  Life is good, go to Jim's.

I adore this place.  They still get 5 stars although I am not fond of the long waits, which isn't their fault - the truly move as FAST as possible.  Some people just like to linger, finish their coffee and chat with their companions for 30 minutes after finishing their meal while we at the door and window eye their leftovers hungrily.
Unfortunately, they don't really like it if you and one other person order one plate to share.  I can see why - they have to make their money.  But the coffee is hot and refilled often, the service is always unique and the portions are so huge, I'm full all day long.  I've never had a bad day when I've started it off at Jims.

After a long night of crooning at the ladies, I like to head over to Jim's Country Style Restaurant for some chicken fried steak and eggs.  Sometimes I can't help myself and I also order the open faced turkey sandwich.  It is delightful.  I drink excessively, and Jim's really kicks my hangover!  I love this joint.

So I felt like going out and getting a good ol' American bacon and egg breakfast this morning.  I had to go out to P-town and thought yelp would be a good place to start.

Jim's Country Style Restaurant looked like it got some pretty good reviews.  So at about 11 am we went to Jim's.

There was about a 10 minute wait which isn't too bad.  I had an omelet called the Aimee. (I think that all of their omelets are named after the employees.)  The Aimee had chunks of moist ham, onions, bell peppers and cheese.  It also came with toast and hash browns.  The hash browns were crisp on the outside and a little too mushy for my taste on the inside.  Coffee was good.  Ms. Bubba had an omelet with linguica, avocado and cheese.  (I don't know the name of that tasty omelet.  It was probably good because of the high salt and fat content.)

I gave Jim's 3 stars only because the food wasn't spectacular and the service was average.   It was a solid basic breakfast.  I can only criticize the hash browns.  In regards to the service, I felt like I was being rushed.

great place for a late breakfast, go late...no wait! (is that a new catch phrase?)  I prefer Dean's since I have been going there for 20 years, but Jim's is my second choice...now if they will just put grits on the menu!

friendly service and huge portions of delicious basics such as omelets, hash browns, and pancakes. the decor is nothing to write home about (i don't think it's changed since the 80s!) but this is a great spot in pleasanton for a hearty, reasonably-priced breakfast or brunch. since it's in a strip mall, it also has plentiful parking, always a plus!

The food at Jim's is good, but not spectacular.  It seems like the usual, good, homey dining food.  Thus, food-wise, Jim's is more like 3.5 stars.  However, it gets pushed into the 4 star range because the portions are absolutely huge!!!  You can definitely split their omelets between two people and still have a LOT of food.  In fact, I was dining there the other month after a long hiatus due to the fact that I was at school, and I had forgotten how large their portions were..  My friend and I had ordered an omelet and had told the waitress that we had wanted to split it.  When she came out with our food, she placed a plate in front of my friend, and I remember thinking that this is a pretty decent portion for one person, so good thing we were splitting.  BUT, right when I was about to ask for a plate so that I could grab my share, the waitress walked out with another identical plate to my friend's!  And I was like, "... SHEESH.  Are they nuts?  This is their idea of splitting???"  We each had a huge plate of food.  I think it amounted to about $6.00 - $6.50 with tip.  Pretty good deal =)
