A #4 Turkey Tom, please!  Love the homemade French bread, with turkey, lettuce, tomato, sprouts, and mayo.  The other sandwiches are good, too.

Why do people love this place so much?!

Okay, yes, they deliver on campus. That's pretty cool.

But the sandwiches are expensive! And not stellar! I think I can rough it and walk the few blocks to the Ave to find something better.

No bike delivery will make up for excessive cream cheese and wilted lettuce on a sandwich, no matter how cute the delivery guy was.

Could I have made it through college without Jimmy Johns? I wouldn't want to find out.

So cheap and tasty its ridiculous. During senior year, JJ's provided me with about 40% of my lunches. And there was never a question of *where* we were going to eat lunch, but *when* we were going to meet at JJ's.

The only thing I regret was not discovering it sooner.

I should warn to eat here in moderation. Burnout's a bitch.

Five effing stars for the amazing sandwiches.
Zero stars for the staff and service.

I am obsessed, I am addicted, I have a problem. The tuna Jimmy sandwich is amazing. I go to Jimmy's twice a week if I can, however inconvenient it is all the way from Ballard for me.

The thing is, the staff is so pretentious and rude! And cold! I have gotten that treatment at every Jimmy Johns, whether it be Chicago, Iowa City, or here. There are always too many of them standing around (because when they do make the subs, they really are so fast I "freak", as they say in their slogan). I'm 25, and these punks make me feel like an outcast in high school. I have a feeling it's in the staff code during orientation that they are taught to be rude and uncaring to customers. One of these days I'll eventually stop going there because of the terrible snots who work there, and I hope it's soon. Until then, I'll eat my yummy tuna in a very uncomfortable atmosphere.

So I'm a tried and true Jimmy John's fan from Wisconsin, where they were starting to pop up everywhere. So finding Jimmy John's in Seattle was like a dream come true. I love their sandwiches, plain and simple.
1) they're fast. so fast, indeed, that you will freak.
2) they have tasty Jimmy John's brand potato chips. crunchy salti-licious.
3) I always get a #4, no tomato, easy mayo. and it's always perfect, with not too much mayo. you know, like I asked for.
4) Their turkey is my favorite. It's not slimy and weirdly processed-looking (you know the kind...the kind with weird gelatinous tumors).

One. Big. Complaint. Every time I go to the location in the u-district, they are playing really crappy rock music really, really, really loud. So loud, in fact, that I need to get real close to the order-taker, like we are about to share a special secret or perhaps a romantic moment, but really I am just getting close enough to scream my order into his face. I am by no means against loud music, being the hip young human that I am. But perhaps if they turned down their crappy music just a tad, they wouldn't have screwed up our order and made the wrong sandwich? (which they promptly remade, but still.)

The sandwiches here are fabulous. It has that Soup Natzi feel--minus the soup and add a sandwich. The lines moved fast, and the sandwich makers move faster. We placed our order and had our food in no time at all. I had the Italian Night Club. Lots of meat and veggies w/o an over abundance of lettuce. And if you're not hungry (young ladies), come here anyway to check out the scenery.  Lots of young, handsome professionals patronizing the joint. I work downtown. Why didn't I discover this place sooner!?

For some reason that I can't exactly put my finger on, I really like and crave their veggie sandwiches.

Maybe it's their cheese, their veggies, the peppers I add to it, the dijon mustard. Maybe, but most likely, it's their soft delicious bread.

Not bad at all for a chain. Much better than Subway.

JJ's is DY-NO-MITE-TAH!

They'll even deliver, but you better fork over some bread to the man for hauling ass over to your place, you lazy bum.  Not only did the man make you a sandwich, but he rode his bike over to give it to you.

Man.  You really suck.  That's okay though.  You're doing it in teh style by ordering up some tasty-assed Jimmy Johns.

Well played, sir.  Well played.

One parting word:  Order a whole pickle with your sandwich.  Once you go kosher dill, you'll never listen to Dr Phil.  It's for the best, really.  That man is a fat bald idiot.

Great sandwiches (for a chain joint) that beat the hell out of Subway or Quiznos..  I like their fresh bread rolls, they just taste better.  They've got nice sandwich choices and they're especially yummy with the free hot peppers....  $4.25/5.25 for a standard/deluxe 8" sammich, I'm on it.

Subs so fast I freaked!

Super bad parking, but worth the hard time.

Subs are super fresh with quality ingrediants.  I always get 2, one to enjoy right away and the other to save for the next day.  Although, it never lasts through the night.

My fav is the #1.

Hint*  Ask for a sliced pickle on your sandy....mmmmmm

Mmmm yes. Jimmy John's has saved me from starvation on numerous occasions. First, they deliver. Sandwiches are arguably my favorite thing on this planet and the fact that they will BRING me one whenever I  so desire... well, that means something.

Second, it doesn't matter how hard it is raining in the middle of December when I am holed up in Odegaard, studying for finals, they will still bring me a sandwich. If I hadn't been so deliriously hungry I would've felt some remorse for making this poor guy ride his bike for my 5 dollar sandwich... not to worry though, there was a hefty tip involved.

Third, the subs are just plain good. Oh god, oh god. So good. I haven't been in a while. Must... Go....

If you're looking for a generic chain-restaurant sandwich for under $5, go up the street (or down the street or across the street, because they're everywhere) to Subway. If you want a bit more expensive but bigger and fresher and just tastier chain-restaurant sandwich, go to Jimmy John's. If you're not a UW student, try to ignore all the cheesy slogans and crap on the walls.

i do love jimmy john's.  their lettuce wraps are amazing, and so is their veggie sandwich.

my office orders delivery, though, and half the time they get the order wrong.  as we speak, i'm waiting for my damn sandwich to arrive and it's been an hour and a half.  i would be REALLY pissed but i called and one of their bikers got hit by a car.

so, i love them, but they're far from dependable.

Apparently this is a popular place for Wisconsinites....add me to that list.

Yeah, it's chain, and while I understand the guilty feelings one might have in this socially-responsible city walking into a Jimmy John's, I cannot deny the fact: these guys make a scrumptious sandwich.

I order the same thing every time -- #12 (Beach Club). It'll cost you $6.18, but it's big, chock-full of fresh ingredients and chewy bread, and oh-so-delicious.

This location is no-nonsense and fast. You can order and walk out with your sandwich in literally two minutes. The service is less impressive later at night, but there enough exceptions to this that I won't complain.

Jimmy John's makes a decent sandwich. They are extremely fast in making them, which is both a blessing and curse - if you want any customization done (in my case, no mayo), you need to get it out fast. The default amount of mayo is ludicrous, even for my friends that like mayo.

I pretty much can't go back to eating at Subway. Yep, my standards were pretty low back then ( like 20 min ago). I had a wonderful tuna sandwich minus the tomatos. Very yummy PLUS sprouts! Good vibe, nice little quotes on the walls and if I do say so myself ,nice flooring. Eat there, you'll have fun.

Another lame corporate chain on the ave, that doesn't want to seem like a lame corporate chain.

I had their vegi sandwich. Tasteless. Did I actually pay for something that tastes like air? I guess I did.

Go get sandwiches from By George, Subs or a Vietnamese Sandwich at any of the many Vietnamese shops. There are so many amazing locally owned shops to go to than to support another bland chain.

OK, I stumbled upon this place knowing absolutely nothing about it. I don't live in Seattle and was at UW for a conference and needed a place to eat for lunch, and I was attracted by the words "gourmet sandwiches" on the sign. I also liked that it was a little bigger and more comfortable than some of the teeny places on the Ave.

Based on first impressions, I was pretty pleased. I was really impressed with the enthusiastic, friendly greeting I received. Wow! Fastest sandwich ever! It was finished before I even got out my money to pay. It really seemed like the employees exemplify the "FISH" philosophy - not just because of the sandwich tossing, but the overall attitude of having fun at work.

Then I ate my sandwich. I have to say it was one of the most boring sandwiches ever. Certainly nothing "gourmet" about it. It was OK, though, and price wasn't too bad. But as the other reviewers have said, I'm sure you can get a better and/or cheaper sandwich elsewhere on the Ave.

Then I read the reviews and found out this is a corporate chain insidiously planting itself everywhere. I really think that's too bad, since one of the things I've always liked about the Ave was all the small businesses and funky places to eat. Ah well, what can I say, I didn't know; fortunately I live in a place that has yet to be invaded by Jimmy John's.

If you're in a hurry, though, and if you appreciate friendly service, it doesn't seem that you can go wrong here.

Normally I'm not a fan of chains, but after reading the Yelp reviews for Jimmy John's I thought I might be missing the next In-N-Out. Was I? No. I've had sandwiches from Safeway delis that pack more of a punch.

I ordered the Pepe, which is your basic ham, provolone, lettuce and tomato on white bread. I wasn't really looking for anything fancy but I cannot stress how underwhelming this sandwich was. I literally only tasted mayonnaise. The bread, reminiscent of a hot dog bun, ranked among the worst I've ever had.

A lot of the reviews mention speed. I didn't notice. Even if the sandwich instantly materialized after ordering, you'd probably still be better off throwing it in the trash.

My final bone of contention came with the decor. I'm sure the "funny" signs and "irreverent" stickers were quite a riot in the cube farms of Champaign, Illinois (JJ's headquarters) but in reality they're just as tasteless as the food.

If you want a great sandwich and are in the U district, skip JJ's and head straight for Sub Shop.

I'll tell you a secret. I love the sandwiches here but I've never had their bread. They do this awesome wrap thing with romain that I call a hand salad and wow is it tasty. Fill it with veggies or cheese as a vegetarian, or make the most awesome breadless BLT ever.

The speed will amaze you. I just wish they took the husky card, but then again. I cant have everything can I?

I like Jimmy John's for an occasional sandwich. I find I like their turkey better than their roast beef, but I'll admit, it's probably their bread that draws me. Extremely good bread. I like the freshness of their products, as well, and the fact that the staff is efficient and welcoming.

YESSSS!!!!  Walking down the ave yesterday, what do I see but a black Jimmy John's sign and my jaw just about dropped.  I loved their sandwiches back in Wisconsin, and thought I was stuck with subway and the ave's ave-rage (heh) independent shops.  No more!

As for the food itself, everything's been good to me except the tuna.  Just be careful because they'll go heavy on the mayo, by default.  Take it off to get better taste and save 200 calories and 25 grams of fat.  The items without cheese are actually great food if you're on a diet.

And you do have to love the speed.  I actually had the sandwich in my hand before I was done paying.

Dollar for dollar, Jimmy John's is hard to beat.  I'm usually anti big chain restaurants because I hate contributing to the collectivization of food, but this place seems to overcome those issues with an irreverent attitude.  Yes, irreverent; just go check it out and read the signs that say things like "no spitting".

The sandwiches are a wonderful combination of really fresh bread and really fresh ingredients.  It sounds simple, but ironically difficult to find in a sub shop.  Go figure.

I remember the first time I went to this place. My friend Cam and I walked in. We counted seven staff members... and the two of us. We placed our orders, oblivious of the speed of service that Jimmy John's is known for and expecting something along the pace of Subway.

Boy, were we surpised. My sandwich was tossed to me while Cam was still ordering. All I could say was, "Holy shit!" And then I just stood there in a daze.

Add to this speedy service the great taste of the food, the really friendly, young, talkative staff, and the great music, which is hand-picked by said friendly, young, talkative staff, and you really have a great place to eat. As my friend Brian said when I took him to Jimmy John's, "This is my new favorite restaurant!"

Keep in mind that the prices are a bit higher than most sandwich places on the Ave, charging about $5 to $7 for a sandwich. But it is so definitely, amazingly worth it that I woludn't worry about it. Plus, they have free delivery.

I am a vegetarian and it is very tough to get a good veggie sandwich almost anywhere.  But Jimmy John's rescues us vegetarians with its delightful veggie sub.  The ingredients are simple - tomatoes, cucumbers, cheese, etc. - but each ingredient is fresh and tasty.  The bread is an excellent white bread that tastes fresh from the bakery.  The veggies are great, the cheese is tasty.

Go here for a great veggie sandwich at a great price and quick service.

I'm not going to hold back here.  If you eat here, you're an idiot.  Reasons why:

1. You're in the U-district.  There are tons of awesome places LITERALLY within walking distance.  Spitting distance, even.

2. Subway, which is by no means a fine establishment, is better than this place.

3. I couldn't taste my sandwich.  Not because I am missing a tongue, but because the sandwiches taste like a tube of tissue paper stuffed inside a loaf of wonderbread.

4. It's not "hip" or "edgy" despite all the "funky" signage inside.  It's corporate cuisine.  Even the other reviews here note its presence in other states.

There are plenty of reasonable places to eat that don't include this place.  Do yourself a favor and don't go here.

They're only good if you want cold, cheap, good sandwiches. But if that's what you want, it's GOOD. Otherwise, go somewhere else. They have beautiful people working there. I am biased because I am friends with some of the said sandwich makers.
Good place to hang out after a night of drinks--they are open even after the bars close, people.
And delivery under 10 minutes if you're in the area... guaranteed that a cute guy on a bike will show up at your door with your sandwich.
My favorite part: the hilarious signs and picture of a guy surrounded by meat. Well, they were hilarious to me when I was a bit intoxicated. I'm sure they'll be just as amusing when sober, right?

Delicious, quick sandwiches. I've eaten at Jimmy John's in other cities, and I'm pleased to say that the great service and high-quality, speedy food that I've had in those other locations is alive and well here.

The bread at this place is amazing, by the way. I'm not that much of a bread person at all, but this stuff is delicious.
