As good a sandwhich as I have had anywhere - I'll put their "Gargantuan UnWhich" up against any other sandwhich in the land! Absolutley aweseome - and this location of the franshise does not dissapoint!
However, the blaring loud music on the sound system has got to go. It must have something to do with everyone taking their orders "to go" from this location - I could barely stomach the dreadful urban hipster crap they had playing so loudly...
While there, I found myself reading a newspaper (free) that had articles about the 'real Chicago.' Included was a survery about favorite dive bars. Almost all of the responses listed places along Halsted, Diversey, or Lincoln.
Wake up folks there ain't no dive bars in Lincoln Park. Beaumont's might be atrocious, but it ain't no dive bar.
But I digress.
Jimmy John's has the best sammies around. Period!
I went, I didn't freak.
When the whole business model revolves around speed, you better be fast. I remember the Jimmy Johns at UIUC where I would walk in with exact change (because I'm awesome like that) while simultaneously saying my order. I would put the money on the register and start walking out when the guy would throw me the completed sub. All. Without. Stopping. Now that place deserves 5 stars.
Also, if you got this far through my review, I don't like cold subs half the year. They need some innovation!
Yes, a chain review. Deal with it.
I have loved these sandwiches for years, but this location NEEDS NEW MANAGEMENT. In a long list of clown shows, here is the latest offense:
-We order a turkey and cheese sandwich.
-Hour later they deliver a ham & cheese.
-We call, and they say they're now on the way with the correct order.
-Hour later, no sandwiches. We call, and they didn't even know we were waiting for our food...?... Ok, now on the way again.
-Another hour later they deliver a rock hard turkey tom, no cheese, and say we're on a list for a free sandwich next time.
-The following weekend there's no record of our free sandwich, but we order one anyway- starvation makes you stupid.
-The delivery hipster must have wanted a $2 tip on a $4 order, because he walks away from our door screaming F- us, and for us to go F ourselves in various ways.
Can someone competent please get this business in working order. It's ri-g@d-d@mn-diculous.
This Jimmy Johns rocks. I have ordered delivery and always received my food fast. They play music LOUD in there so don't bring the kids. They always make my sandwhiches for my wife and I perfect every time. They are consistent.
The delivery guys work on tips, so tip well, especially if it's 100 degrees outside. or if its cold, or rainy etc.
For what it is, they do a great job. The kids are always friendly, and high spirited.
I go there at least once a week, more so for my wife as I love the mexican place next door (Allende) and they always do it right!!
I love Jimmy John's and eat there a lot, but this is the worst location that I've eaten at. If you visit in person, the music is always up so loud they can't hear you order. If you call for delivery, you have to repeat every last bit of your order several times because they can't hear you - probably because of the loud music and/or their crappy phone. Then, they screw up the order (and I'm sorry, but meat on bread is not rocket science).
Their bread here also sucks - at other JJ locations it is always soft and chewy and delicious. 98% of the time I order from this location the bread is hard and stiff.
I called and explained to the manager that I worked for a non-profit and needed to feed 200 people for an event we were having. He curtly told me that, due to company policy, he couldn't give away food and then hung up on me.
Here's the problem: I wasn't begging for free food like he thought. I wanted to place an order and pay for the sandwiches with our hard-earned money.
Doesn't that seem rather rude to you?
I like this location best because of all the times I've been, I've NEVER waited in line, and there's usually some rad bikes hanging out by the doorway.
Also, its super close to Oz Park, so get your sandwich, then go to the White Hen on the corner and get a giant fountain drink, and then head on over to the well-manicured flower section in the Park and have yourself a picnic among sunbathing girls in bikinis.
I probably shouldn't have said that because now that park will be overrun with weirdos.
Go to the one on N Clybourn, its way better and the service is better. The one on N Lincoln apparently their sandwhich makers don't understand the meaning of "I want extra of something." I asked for extra lettuce and onions, and still got the standard amount. And even looked at me weird for asking such a thing. Other night got the Vito and the sandwhich was very very salty from the vinegrette they used. I think whoever made it messed up bigtime because it made the sandwhich so salty I couldn't even eat it.
I eat Jimmy John's all the time and I never get sick of it. I also dont' feel guilty eating it all the time because it's affordable and it's a sandwich so how bad could it be for you? My favorite is the beach club, which seems to be popular among other Yelpers as well.
This sandwich joint is hit or miss. I'm sure many of you if not all of you have eaten at a Jimmy Johns at one time or another, but this location is probably the best one I've been to. I've had my order messed up so many times but not at this location- so if you are nearby and want to have a sandwich the way you like it- come here.
Jimmy John's is always great. The problem usually lies in the delivery part of the deal when it takes 3-4 x's longer than quoted, and then part of the order is missing. Not fun at hungry lunch times.
Jimmy John's is pretty much as advertised - it's about the fastest sandwich you can get. That said, I'd take a Potbelly's or Quizno's sandwich over theirs given the choice. If you just need something fast for lunch and actually want to enjoy it, I'd recommend Jimmy John's.
good sandwiches and cheap! If you've gotten sick of pottbelly's (which I sorta have because I ate it way too much), try this place. The sandwiches are big and good. I particularly love the beach club. They also deliver and are usually pretty fast.
A great place for a sandwich. The JJBLT is delicious, as is the beach club. Very reasonable prices, and the ingredients are always fresh and the sandwichs are pretty big. Quick and convienent too.
This place is great! They make delicious, simple sandwichs that are consistent between locations and visits. They have really quick delivery too. My favorite is the beach club...highly recommended!
