I'm moving from Brooklyn to Boulder this summer, and J & D's has eased many of my fears.  They overnight flash frozen bagels from H&H in NYC!!!   They have homemade kugel!!!  They make good NY deli style sandwiches!  And to top it all off, two of the guys working the day I went in were real New Yorkers.  Ah, I can relax knowing that my NYC deli cravings will be satisfied.

As for pizza, that's another story. . .

I'm a fan. I'm a big big fan. I've finally found a place where I can get all my cravings satisfied.

My favorite menu item? The chocolate cake.

I don't know where they get their cake...but it's completely amazing. I might even call it orgasmically amazing (and I never say things like that). The "frosting" must have crack in it or something equally tasty and addictive. I typically hate frosting, but I find myself licking the inside of the box this cake is served in. (No, I'm not exaggerating. Why do you think I get my food delivered? ...So I can lick my cake box in peace.)

I also really enjoy their chicken soup (try it with the Matzo balls) and anything with corned beef on it. It's flavorful, but not too salty, and you can tell the chicken is fresh.

I'm drooling right now just thinking about the cake. :)

I wish Jimmy and Drew had a Deli in Denver, too.  Then nobody would need to go to Zaidy's, which is mediocre at best.  Jimmy and Drew stay culturally and religiously respectful, and they do not serve pork.  Bravo, J & D!!

This is not the place for vegetarians.  Not really at all.

With that said,  I have been here with friends, and with family, and we have enjoyed single items from the deli case, full dinners, and sandwiches.  I have never heard a complaint.

Portions are usually generous,  and service,  for the most part,  is friendly and personal.

Kanter's in LA is my favorite Deli nationally.  Since we're not in LA, Jimmy and Drew's is my favorite.

They do breakfasts too, and have excellent latkes, which for the uninitiated, are potato pancakes.

Don't know why I've reserved the 5th star.  Slight inconsistency with portions, taste, and service, from visit to visit,  I suppose.  Nothing really major, though.

I really like this place.  Creative while being traditional.

I am typically not young or hip enough to use bomb as a compliment but I agree with Mr. B that the sandwiches here are the bomb.  They feel like they weigh like a bomb and they go off in your mouth like a bomb of different flavors.  I also agree that this is the best delis in town.  Jimmy and Drew's beats out Salvagios on two counts: 1) More and ,I think, better meat on the sandwiches and like I said creative combinations 2) Less attitude - at J&D's the guys are genuinely nice as opposed to... that "ehhh come on make up your mind and order  No Ummms allowed" NY attitude.

They also serve dinner and we just got back from our third or fourth consecutive "its such a hot summer night I just can't cook tonight lets go out" meal.

My turkey platter was excellent.  Turkey was moist, stuffing was tasty, potatoes were mashed, and the cooked carrots we great.  The green beans we only OK.  My wife got the giant salad with smoked white fish salad.  Greens we in excellent shape, lots of other fresh veggies and the white fish salad was perfect.

I do gotta say it's not cheap but when you look at the portions and the quality it all adds up to a decent value and you gotta like supporting a nice small local enterprise run by a couple decent guys that really seem to like food and their customers.

Lot's of people order to go and I think that's because try as they might to make it feel fun it just feels kinda big and empty even with all the stuff plastered to the walls.  So go for the food or get the food to go.

Jimmy and Drew's offers Boulderites the closest thing i could find to a Katz Deli pastrami sandwich.  Ahhh, Katz Deli.  My mouth salivates just thinking about it.  I can't believe i used to live on Ludlow, right down from this landmark of the world.  I digress...

Back to Jimmy and Drew's.  The pastrami sandwich is by far the best that Boulder has to offer, but is still sub-par to the best delis in NYC.  But you're not in NYC, so you take what you can get.  The deli offers some other interesting creations such as Jimmy's Favorite, which is a reuben on a potato latke.  I have to admit, this is a true original, and is very much the bomb.

Side salads are nothing special.

And, they serve H & H bagels, although i've never tried them at J & D's.  Apparently, they flash freeze the bagels in NY at an early stage of the baking process, then send them overnight where they finish the baking process here in Boulder.  In a town where they have yet to master that which is the deli (or pizza place for that matter), this is a small step in the right direction.

You ever had a latke reuben? Me either, but my friend brought one back from Colorado. If you could bottle heaven (or your happy place) and then package it in saran wrap and a box. This is the latke reuben to go. Amazing. I can only imagine how it tastes fresh. Crispy on the outside and meaty on the inside. I have no idea if the place is nice looking or the prices are good. The food is great.
