The best bbq around. I haven't found anything that I don't like.

This place is going down hill. It seems the management has changed and the service has suffered. My family and I ate here tonight and our server was slow and not attentive to our table. They weren't even really busy either. The manager guy seemed like a robot programmed to say " how is everything"? My pulled pork had too much fat in it too....for the price it should be melt in your mouth caliber.
Used to eat here alot....going to give it a break and come back in a year and see if it has improved. -

Take it or leave it. If you like overpaying for BBQ then you'll love this place. BBQ is mediocre at best, chicken fingers are better than the BBQ.....that tell you all you need to know.

I'm not a fan of this place... I have been there twice and both times the service was slow. The food is over priced and not really all that good. Both times the food has come out and tasted like it had been sitting in the back there for 20 min.
The odd thing is the place always seems to be busy, but no one I've talked to seems to like it... If you want some good BBQ there are MUCH better and cheaper places to go. -

On a side note, I felt kind of wierd about the "memorabilia." The restaurant is covered with pictures from the early 1900's. As to be expected from that time period, all of the Black people in the photo's were serving the white folks. Some of them looked happier than others.
Keeping in mind that I didn't look at every single photo, a few large prominently placed pictures of the black community enjoying good barbecue within their own community (not serving white folks) would have been nice. I get it, thats what was going on back then, and the USA has come a long way. But lets be honest, that was not all that was going on, Blacks had a very rich culture, irrespective of whites, which also included barbecue. It would be nice if that was also represented.
The barbecue is decent here, you know, for a chain type restaurant. They have barbecue brisket nachos, which sounds wierd but was quite good. Nachos could have used a bit more meat though. And the southern burger was very good, cooked to perfection.
The sweet cornbread muffins with cheese are amazing! I could have eaten just those and sweet tea. Really, those muffins are amazing!
Also, my server Breanna provided excellent customer service. -

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but they've lost their sparkle. That special something that was in every plate is gone. I've been working in Paulding County off and on for the last few weeks and one of the most exciting things about being out here (well, make that the only exciting thing) is the southern food. Whether it's chicken or, in this case, barbecue, I'm all over it.
The beef brisket is no longer my favorite. Their sauce is lacking and tastes mostly like ketchup. Every time I get the pulled pork it's mostly fat. The fries always taste like they've been sitting out, even when they're fresh. I actually sent mine back the other day and the ones that were steaming from the grease tasted the same way.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I am a bona fide city girl, and so when my family asked me to meet them for dinner in Hiram for BBQ, it took more than the temptation of a free meal on Mom to get me to make the drive, but I can never turn down the temptation of southern food.
45 "Toto, I believe we are now in Kansas" minutes north-west of Atlanta, below a billboard advertising all you can eat pizza, I arrived at Jim 'N Nick's Bar-B-Q! I'd never heard of this chain BBQ joint before and thus from a name like Jim 'N Nick's I was expecting a mom and pop's BBQ shack. Not!
It was the Joe's Crab Shack of BBQ!
The late comer, I quickly asked the server, Joe, to recommend a local beer and BBQ to me. He was so helpful. I ordered a Red Brick Blonde, a local brew by ABC. His first recommendations for entrees were appetizers as entrees explaining that they are exceptionally large. I shot the idea of BBQ quesadillas and nachos down immediately, and went with the choose two meats and two fixings (mashed taters with brown gravy and collards) combo with a company salad and then decided I'd munch on a little of what everyone else had!
Side note: I envision heaven to look like a buffet full of southern food including collards, Fried Chicken, BBQ, potato salad, mashed potatoes, gravy, dressing, mac n' cheese, and fat me!
I was in heaven!
The food was outstanding. I scraped up what was left on my plate and everyone else at the table's and made sure I brought home enough left overs to make myself a BBQ sandwich the next day!
The service... amazing! Joe was stupendous. I have to give him bonus points because normally my family and I get awkward service because we are an awkward bunch. Joe knew just how to handle us... keep the cheesy cornbread coming! LOL!
Great service + Great food = another drive out to Hiram for BBQ... Maybe! -

Remember when I said in my review of Fox Brother BBQ that I was not a BBQ fan? Well, I take it back! After eating here today for lunch, I am now a fan! Thanks Jim 'N Nicks!
David and I are very much city boys but we like to have an OTP (outside the perimeter) day once in awhile! We decided to visit a friend of David's that is doing some renovations to a building he owns in Powder Springs, GA. After checking out the beautiful building, we were thinking of where to go for lunch. Only thing was that everything was closed on Sunday in the area...I guess for church! So we jumped in the car and headed for Hiram...or what I like to call Tennabama...and thats where we found the best brisket I have ever eaten!
Seems like this is a small chain...but the food definitely has all the good home cooked feel! Seriously the best thing we ordered was our appetizer...The Kitchen Sink Nachos with Beef Brisket! It's so good, seriously I could eat it again right about now! For our meals we got the Cheeseburger (which I would have ordered the brisket sandwich instead, if I knew it was that good!), pork BBQ sandwich, Pig in the Potato Patch, and half a Bar-B-Q Chicken. Sides were mac and cheese, creamed spinach, cole slaw, collards, and french fries. (Yeah, I know...a lot of food, right!?)
Everything was delicious and the service was great! I see that there is a location in Smyrna...I think i may have to check that one out to get some much needed cravings fulfilled. Plus I need to save room for a slice of pie! Anyways, Go get your meat on!Listed in: Forget The Twilight Zone...

I ate here twice. And both times I was very happy with the service and the food. The first time I went there it was packed... but the food still came out at a pretty fast pace.
I absolutely love the sweet cornbread that is free for the table. I would say price wise... it's slightly more than I want to pay. But I am pretty cheap. -

I went back to Jim 'N Nick's with a friend this weekend. It was just still as good as it was before. The brisket and pulled pork were perfectly done, i know, i should have had the ribs but i really wanted something different. The sauces are excellent but the habanero should have a warning on it or something, my friend thought it would be one of those thick, dark, sweet sauces and ended up getting a little surprise.
The service this time was great. Our waitress was very attentive and never let our classes empty. Everyone we talked to was very friendly and it was just an excellent experience.1 Previous Review: Show all »

If frou frou bbq is your thing then you will enjoy this place. My husband loved it, because of the sweet cheddar biscuits, I on the other hand, thought our waitress was snooty and uninformed. I will probably give it another chance before I totally dis it.

The first time it was excellent. Food was really good. This time very bad. The food was poor quality and the quantities much smaller. The price though was very expensive relative to the quality and quantity. The best things were the tea and lemonade. Unfortunately we won't be back.

This is a chain that really gets it. Fabulous food. Tremendous service. Nice drinks. What's not to love about that? Sure, I want to support my local BBQ shack. But sometimes I want to eat BBQ on Sunday, and sometimes I want to eat BBQ while guzzling a beer. Lots of dust covered wood-floor establishments just can't give me what I need in those departments. That's why there's Jim 'n Nick's, I guess. The salads are wicked good with top-notch accouterments and chilled bowls (the makings of a perfect salad in my book)...I know who eats salad in a BBQ joint?...you can get it as a side dammit! The complimentary bread is second to none (OK, perhaps Barbara Jean's in St. Simons has better, but as far as the ATL goes, this is it) Oh, and the pimento cheese is so good, I had to buy a pint to take home. Yay Jim 'n Nicks!

My husband and I had lunch here last week. It was our 4th trip here. The other 3 times were not pleasant experiences for one reason or another which I won't go into. I am happy to report that we had a nice lunch, at last. Our server, Stephanie, was such a wonderful improvement from our last 3 times. We both had the Double Decker on Sourdough bread and it was very tasty. The fries were very good that accompanied the sandwich. I also enjoyed the little corn muffins that were brought to the table and served with honey butter. I could taste a little bit of bacon in them and that's a nice flavor. I do agree with Bradley that their prices are a bit high for a Bar-B-Q place. Our bill for lunch was $21.98 without tip. This was for two sandwiches ($8.99 each) and two drinks ($2.00 each).

The BBQ here is quite good. The staff was friendly and the ambiance nice. I ordered the pulled BBQ pork and 3 bones (ribs). The portion was a good size (I had leftovers for lunch the next day!) I took my sister, her husband and their kids and the bill was quite reasonable. We all had leftovers the next day in fact. My sister said the collard greens were the best she had ever eaten! So I do recommend trying those. We went on a Friday night and had no wait at all. I will be back for sure!
