SAVE YOUR CAR! DO NOT GO HERE!!!

I should have read the reviews before I took my car in Yesterday. The lady in the counter was so freaking rude, not only that the whole team had the whole, "ghetto talk" even this guy from Oakland who was ghetto of all hell said this place is ghetto and got into a heated argument with one of the workers because they sprayed water in his car when the windows were down. By the time I wanted to leave it was too late, they already drained the oil from my car and I closely watched them work on my car. When the work was done, the lady in the counter said,, "Well your coolant level is low, we can top it off for $4 bucks." I said, "Hell No!" My coolant level is fine because I checked it before I took it in. But I guess they want to scam you and make believe your coolant is low. I didn't buy it, because she told the same thing to other customers who were waiting there. I get home and I noticed the oil level was below the mark. To save myself the hassle, I just top it off myself. I'm never going there again even if my life depended on it and spend lousy $40 bucks. Never again!

I borught my car in for service on February 19.  Within 1500 miles I was getting a check oil light, and there appeared to be an oil leak.  This seemed surprising.  I brought it to Randy at Advanced Audi (check out my high praise for them) and they determined that the oil drain plug was replaced without a seal.  I called the manager, Tasha, listed at the bottom of the form.  She was very defensive and insisted that my mechanic was wrong and that many cars don't have a seal.  Regardless of whether some cars and some cars don't, I would expect at the bare minimum that technicians would check to see whether the car required one...or that a manager might be apologetic when a mistake was brought to her attention. Sadly, I was mistaken.

DO NOT GO HERE! This Jiffy Lube, not that any of them are very good, but this particular Jiffy Lube is absolutely the most unprofessional incompetent group of people I have ever seen working in one place. It's like the interviewed and selected people who had the least amount of social skills and intelligence, but who could screw things up the most.
When I rolled up to this place and scoped out the crowd, I was terrified and fantasized about reversing and peeling out of there, but then I thought I shouldn't be so judgmental. Unfortunately, as a result of my conscience the value of my car is now depreciated, and the life span of my car's engine is now significantly reduced. Why is this the case?
Because...
THEY DIDN'T PUT OIL IN MY CAR!!!

When you look at my reviews, rarely do I have an experience so bad that I leave the lowest rating that I can here on yelp. If I could put no stars here, I would!!!!

Never will we return to this location again.

First of all when I drove in, I seemed to be interrupting something and was not greeted as a customer. Every item on the service check list was not carried out. The kids working there were were not at all interested in doing work. Upon completion and after paying, all of the guys were huddled in the rear of the bays around one vehicle. Where there were 2 girls waiting in cars for them. These girls were lined up against the wall waiting in cars and not customers(two open bays when I left), they were just hanging out. When I got in the car I noticed it was not vacuumed, windows not washed and since I stood and watched from the outside, no air or tire pressure check. When I asked about reseting the vehicle oil indicator, I was rudely told " we don't do that YO. You gotta take that to the dealer!" And from now on I will.
A horrible experience. Stay away..

Lets see how their corporate complaint system works as I've already sent my complaint in!

Dont go to this place!!!!!!

10-26
Update, I contacted their corporate headquarters. They gave me a full credit in the form of a certificate to compenaste for this horrid experience.

If this place was ever fire bombed I certainly wouldn't shed a tear.

Why do I keep coming back?--I have no idea.  The "workers" here should be utilizing their "skills" cleaning toilets or pushing mops in jail.   They can barely speak in complete sentences, and frequently display such a lack of customer service that I have wondered who let these monkeys out of their cage. I have regrettably used this establishment many times, mostly because they rotate tires, I'm too lazy to try a new joint, and my mom taught me to take pity on the mentally handicapped.

But, seriously, this place is absolutely abysmal.  The people who gave it 5 stars must be either A) complete oblivious idiots, or B) sleeping with the owner.

The last 3 times I went they were lacking basic services--once the lift wasn't working (to rotate tires), once their computer was down, and hence they couldn't do any work, and this last time they were out of oil filters for my type of car (a Toyota Corolla)!!  Are you kidding me? Out of oil filters?!?!  But hey, the guy told me, if you go get one we'll put it in and give you a discount.  Since I was leaving on a trip and couldn't do it on another day, I went and got the filter ($9) and they put it in. How much of a discount?  Which I had to repeatedly remind the guy to give me---$3!  I guess they could have turned me away....I should feel lucky, right? Wrong.

This place is horrible. The people are truly wretched-truly, truly, truly.  I have finally wised up and will never return.

UPDATE:  I have been going to Pro Lube for  awhile now and can whole heartedly recommend them.  See their page on Yelp: http://www.yelp.com/bi...

Don't go!  if I could give minus stars, I would.  I simply wanted an oil change and the pressure sales tactics were unacceptable and unwanted.

Annoying, sloppy, terrible service.

Just got back from getting a lube job. Hmmm sounds more fun than it really was.

Why annoying: The guys who work here are way more into hanging out with each other and chatting with each other than helping their customers.  And they mumble. Had to keep asking them to keep repeating themselves.

Why sloppy: stuck the damn reminder sticker in the *middle* of my windshield. And crooked to boot.

Why terrible: For a chain, they barely held up the corporate standards. Yeah they *do* call you "sir" as all other Jiffy Lube places do, but you can't understand a damn thing else that they're saying. And it's all their staff, not just one marble-mouthed guy.

Don't go here, let's hope they go under.

Zero stars would be more accurate.

Okay, so let's assume they really did change the oil.  No vacuum, no window wash, not sure about the tire pressure, basically, they didn't do anything on the entire checklist associated with an oil change.  In all honesty, I'm really not sure what they did for the 20 minutes that I waited for my car to be "serviced", but there's no way I'd ever go back to Jiffy Lube on University Avenue.

When I called them last week Wednesday and asked if they have the oil filter for my car, they put me close to 5 minutes on hold to check.  I didn't mind it so much, as the answer was an enthusiastic "Yes, we do! Come by anytime."  It has to be noted that they asked me twice to confirm that the filter is for that specific car, of that model year.

So I go there on Sunday and pull in just to have one of the guys shout at me that they don't carry the oil filter for my car.  When I told them that I called in a few days ago and they confirmed that they do have it, he just shrugged and said that a new shipment is coming in on Thursday and to check back then.  And  when I asked whether I can put in an order for that oil filter, they flat out said no.  They might get it or they might not.

After calling two friends to complain about this experience, they both said that Jiffy does that all the time.  They tell you they have a certain product or part and then it turns out that they don't.  What a waste of time.  I'd rather spend my time and money at a place that is honorable and keep its customers satisfied.

For all Volvo S80, MY2004 drivers - Jiffy Lube on University Avenue does NOT carry your oil filter.  Don't waste your time.

Shocking, truly abysmal. So bad I have to write a review, which is not something I'm usually compelled to do about a chain franchise.

My experience was bad enough: 40 minutes (at 3pm) to be told they can only change the oil and not the filter because the filter is not in stock. Then I have to type in my own address because the clerk does not understand me. It is not a language problem, more that he is wearing a huge bluetooth earpiece over his ear in a garage, and thus cannot hear a word I am saying.

However, the guy in front of me got the real treatment. He goes to pay, and hands over a 7 dollar coupon he had received in the mail from Jiffy Lube.

"Too late", says the clerk," you should have given me that before i rang it up, the card has gone through now".

" I did give it to you before" politely protests the customer, "when I got the estimate, but you told me to give it to you later. "

They go back and forth with this a few times, during which the clerk makes no effort whatsoever to apologise and infers that it is the customers fault. The attitude is pouring across the desk from the clerk. I can tell the customer started off feeling a little sheepish about a 7 buck coupon, but is getting really riled by the clerk being so rude. Eventually the clerk goes back into the garage and returns a couple of minutes later.

"You'll have to speak to him" he says, waving his arm in a general westerly direction

"Who is "him?""

"The guy in the grey shirt, he's the manager".

Pause.

"So do I go out there or is he coming in here?"

Out and in goes the clerk again

"Sit down, he'll be with you in a minute."

25 minutes later, customer is summoned outside like a schoolkid and asked what the problem is, I hear him explain patiently, and then be told that he should have reminded the clerk before they rang him up. Now in a state of disbelief, the customer checks repeatedly "let me get this straight, this is my fault, for not reminding the clerk".

"Yes".

The manager eventually processes the 7 dollar coupon, and all in the waiting room make a mental note to go elsewhere for oil next time. And maybe an air filter if they behave themselves.

Don't go here!

I haven't written a review in a while, since I've kind of realized that most of my day-to-day commercial interactions aren't that memorable. In general, capitalism seems to work: I go buy things, and I more or less get what I paid for. Unfortunately for me and my car, someone should probably explain that principle to whoever changed my oil at this particular Jiffy Lube.

I'll be the first to admit that I don't know much about cars. That's why I'm getting my oil changed at a freaking Jiffy Lube in the first place. You'd think that a franchised oil-change place would have high enough standards to properly change oil. But alas.

Shortly after I got my oil changed at this location, my oil light started flashing intermittently. Checking my oil level, I found my oil tank almost dry, so I added a quart of oil and the problem went away. Temporarily.

The problem started again after a few days, so I took my car to a mechanic to have it checked out, and lo and behold, my drain plug was conveniently missing and my oil filter was improperly replaced.

"So other than that, did they actually do anything right?"

"They probably did pour some oil in..."

I took my 2004 Aveo into get an Oil Change at University Ave in Berkely.  Within a half of mile of driving off after the change my oil light was on empty.  I drove back and by the time that I pulled into the bay my engine was making funny noises.  They explained that they had forgotten to put the oil plug in and apologized saying that it was not too harmful for the engine.   The service man also helpfully added that he was planning on calling me to explain the gaffe. I tried to get some notation of what had happened and the manager was reluctant to do so.  Needless to say I have found a new place to get my oil changed. And even though I have to refill my own wiper fluid I am much happier and feel safer about my car engine.

Jiffy lube was soooo incredibly nice to me and they changed my oil in like 20 minutes. I love them and they were so cute about explaining to me where to find the lug nut wrench. I am definitely a repeat customer.

Fast and typically-priced, but you get the hard sell -- oh, don't you want the better oil? Really? Are you sure? Oh, you need to replace your ****. We can do that now.... They sometimes can get a pretty long line due to their convenient location (a plus and a minus).

don't go here - they are rude and incompetent.  first they dropped a wrench into the engine compartment, which took a while to get out,  then as i was driving off i notice that they didn't reset the maintainance light.  it took 3 of them to figure it out and in the process they smeared oil all over my dash and door.

oh my, i wish i'd read these reviews before continuing to go here. i've been obliviously getting my oil changed here for several years now because it's close to my berkeley office and i sort of guessed they were doing a good job? i'm a girl; i don't know shit about my car. i am mostly displeased here because they always try to push things on me i feel i don't need, but then again, i don't really know.; it's more of a hunch. but on my most recent visit, i agreed to have my transmission fluid and everything else changed. because i was so resistant to the $180 quote, he lowered it to $160. it took them quite a while (it wasn't jiffy, and i was the only person there. i see why now after reading these reviews) and they apparently went down this whole checklist of things to supposedly do. when i drove away, my windshield fluid light went on. fuckers. this is like the only feature i use on my car. we drove up to healdsburg this past weekend and my car suddenly started smoking. the boys got out to check and said there was spilled oil and fluids all underneath the hood and that whoever had changed my oil did a terrible job. i hope they at least changed the other fluids i paid for. oh, and the waiting room is abysmal. my reading choices were ebony magazine and highlights for kids. i guess i'll find somewhere else to go.

Much like a previous poster, I don't know much about cars, and my car is new to the area, so I ended up at Jiffy Lube.  Went there twice and they were fast and my car still ran, so I went there a third time.  They said that they couldn't change my oil because there was something wrong with the plug and the threads had been stripped.  They told me I need to go to a mechanic and get a replacement part.    So how did this happen since I got my oil changed here the last two times?  No response.... I wil not be returning...
