I had a couple of Grandma slices today and I thought they were great considering they came from a food truck. The crust was crisp, but not hard enough where it feels like you're biting through stone (unlike some Sicilian slices I've had). The sauce was kind of sweet and there was just enough basil that the taste wasn't overpowering. The crust is a little thin, so I'd recommend two slices if you have an appetite. Grab the coupon from the website and you've got yourself a pretty cheap lunch.

On the last workday of the year, my carb-fearing colleague decided to take a leap of faith and get a pie from Jiannetto's, which is always in the neighborhood. Although we didn't call ahead of time, waiting for a full pie to be made only took about 7-10 minutes, which isn't all that bad of wait time when it's unseasonably mild outside. The pizza itself is unlike most other pizzas one will encounter. Whereas cheese is usually the main ingredient on top of the pie, Jiannetto's is smothered in tomato sauce, with only a sprinkling of parmesan to be accounted for (along with a few less-than-impressive leaves of basil). For that style, it's alright, and I like that the Sicilian-style crust isn't overbearingly heavy to eat. That said, pizza doesn't taste that great when it's just tomato sauce on the crust. It's decent for what it is, but it's not my style. And for $2.75/slice (or $19 for a pie), it's more expensive than going to a regular pizza shop.
Nice and convenient if you're in the Midtown area for work, or if tomato pizza is your thing, but I probably wouldn't stop by more than the occasional case of the munchies. Pizza without cheese is just not my forte. -

Sicilian is usually not my favorite form of pizza (see: http://www.yelp.com/bi... ). But when it's good, it's great. Jiannetto's makes quick, tasty, and cheap pizza. All of which are perfect for anyone in Midtown who needs a quick bite to eat for lunch before getting back to reality.
I really like their stuffed shells (but mainly because of the garlic knots), and their heroes: sausage & pepper FTW!. :-)
1 slice isn't really filling, so I'd suggest going for the 2-for-1 pizza+soda deal (you can print the coupon from their website and bring it).
Oh, and get there early if you can...like all good food trucks and vending carts, lines can form fast!Listed in: It's Fast, and it's…, Mama Mia!

One of the best pizzas in the city. Great taste, prices not bad. Just have to wait a bit to get your food ready.

Yum. Crispy, thin crust and lots of fresh sauce with a sprinkling of basil and lots of parmesean cheese. No other cheese on it but it doesn't need it.
There's a coupon on their website for 2 slices and a soda for $5. Save a buck. The slices are a good size for sicilian but thinner than most. I planned on not being able to finish two slices, but let's be serious.
Great quick and cheap lunch option if you work in the area. -

For being a truck parked on the side of the road, this place might deserve 5 stars. (In the summer, the guy manning the truck deserves 5 stars just for standing in the back of a truck next to a huge pizza oven. Yeesh.) Either way, this might be one of my favorite places for lunch when at work in Midtown just given the novelty of being able to see two big pizza ovens in the back of a truck and for some pretty darn good red sauce which you can get slathered on anything from pizza slices to the full complement of "whatever" parmigiana subs.
Jiannetto's serves up a terrific thin crust Sicilian pizza, which I've been informed is traditionally served sans mozzarella with the focus being sauce and fresh basil with just a sprinkling of Parmesan. The day I went, the slice I got was just a tad burnt, but I guess cooking in the back of a pizza truck might make consistency a bit difficult. That being said, the sauce is terrific up there with some of the best pizza sauces in the city and it really does shine on the slice though I wish there was a bit more basil. I think the thin crust is nice but maybe a bit too crunch for my personal tastes (though maybe it was because mine was a bit over done).
I also got the Rice Balls which are just what they sound like. Rice in the form of balls surrounding cheese, ground meat, and peas slathered in red sauce. They're quite tasty though the rice is a bit bland (maybe you can ask for extra sauce...). But, for $4, I don't know that there's a more filling lunch anywhere in the city. -
Review from Brooke C.
i love food trucks and this one quickly became one of my favorites. two pizza ovens in a truck? amazing.
the pizza is very saucy and delicious, but its not one i would carry for a while b/c it will get soggy. the meatball sub and the stuffed shells are also delicious and the meatball sub is pretty big. i barely managed to finish it and i can eat a lot of food. in one month, i have probably been there 3 or 4 times, enough that my coworker laughs at me when i say i'm going again.
the one downer is that sometimes it gets so busy, that you can often be overlooked by the pizza guy. granted there's only one guy and its a lot of ppl, but i recently was an early joiner in the line and got my food after everyone else who got there after me. -

The pasta takes a while because they cook it to order which is great. Pizza slices are a bit small but the price is great.
8 bucks gets you garlic knots, pasta and a can of soda.
Ill be coming here again for sure. -
Review from John P.
I've never been to this location, but their financial district truck isn't on yelp and i'm sure it's the same. I've only had the pizza and really enjoyed it. Very thin crust, a lot of sauce, and a sprinkle of parm, just delicious.

Yum! Had this after hanging out at Pianos in the lower east side on Saturday night. Hits the spot without being overly greasy. It was $3/slice. The man was super friendly and nice and even cut our one piece into three slices so I could share with my friends. He heats it up on the spot and after I ate my portion, I regretted not purchasing more! Yummy. I want a slice now. I always get so hungry yelping at night....

a hefty tray of tasty, sweetly sauced ziti for $5! the piece of bread that comes with it sucks, but that's not the part you paid for anyway.
will it be the best pasta you've ever had? no.
will it be the best pasta you've ever had for $5? yes.
3.5 rounded up to 4 stars because they freshly grate their cheeses, the pasta is made to order, and the guys are nice. -
Review from Paul L.
The "mention Yelp and pasta is $5" deal is money. I wanted penne but they ran out so I got the ziti. Still, money.

It was absolutely over-hyped. The pizza crust was good, but the sauce was terrible, tasted weak and canned, and it wasn't as cheesy as I like, but that's what you get when it's Parmesan as opposed to mozzarella. Personally I'd hit up a 99 cent pizza storefront before I going back to Jiannetto's

Review from Jennifer Y.

Pizza with a twist, there's no cheese on this little thin sicillian delight. I know, sounds weird right but, it's really good. A good thick tomatoey sauce tops a really crunchy crust. $2.25 buys you a slice. Rice balls here are really good too. One of my coworkers tried it and called it a tomato sauced breadstick but, I don't really trust his taste in food anyway. I think the fact that it's even here says a lot.

Yeah, the pizza is big but not great. I would happily have Angelo's Pizza compared to this. I tried the artichoke pie and it was just super heavy and greasy. Sorry guys...a quick go to for lunch but not a fav of mine
