What can I say? We had a great dinner, great service, great setting and a great experience here.
I had the tortilla chicken, a house specialty recommended by our waiter, Jose. The chicken was tender and juicy - a very unique dish served up with their special smashed potatoes. I couldn't finish the dish.
The setting is a gorgeous old hotel with a history.
I don't think I'm the easiest person to please, but I would go back here any day, anytime! -

Amateur hour-posing as an eating establishment.
No one in charge. No one to get you to a table or get you a menu.
Our main courses arrived 20 minutes apart, despite the waiter's best efforts. Loud German tourists getting more smashed by the minute.
Do yourself a favor and skip this place. -

Not the best food I've every had, but it was ok.. The best part is sitting outside in the courtyard and eating. Perfect weather in March (just a little windy). The service is slow and the wait staff didn't seem liked they cared about getting tipped very well - they weren't reall out going, extremely slow to get you another drink...just overall not very attentive. But the location and weather made up for it.
There are places in town to get better food and service, but they are only open a few days a week and really no outside space like Jett's Grill. -

It doesn't matter that it was a busy Sunday night and the only restaurant open in the town. I had a terrible experience getting a salmon salad at Jett's Grill, the restaurant at the historic Paisano Hotel. It took at least an hour and a half to receive two salmon salads, which are pretty basic to prepare. The hardest part is grilling the salmon.
I'm not the only one who has had problems getting decent service at this restaurant, that night or at other meals. One couple that arrived after me, waited more than 20 minutes to be approached by anyone in the restaurant. They made their complaint known, but like me, they stayed because they knew Jett's was the only place to get a meal. The New York couple sitting next to me at the bar, originally sat outside on the restaurant's patio and enjoyed their chips and salsa appetizer for an hour and a half, before they became fed up and discovered they had to come inside and sit at the bar to get waited on for the rest of the meal they had been waiting to order.
Since my husband and I have been in Marfa, getting a meal at a restaurant has been a major theme amongst visitors. This town is sorely shy of restaurants, most likely due to the U.S. declining economy. There are only a few restaurants in Marfa, defiinitely not enough to serve all those staying at local motels and those passing through on the way to somewhere else.
One message keeps coming up. Where ever you go, you hear the same story (even from the locals!): Avoid dining at Jett's Grill, because the service is horrific. The restaurant's manager (also the bartender), though a young good looking man, does not know how to manage a restaurant. He should not be a manager. I guess they can't get anyone else. He has a bad reputation, even amongst the locals.
Even though he can be openly mean to patrons/potential patrons, I feel badly for him, because he doesn't understand how to manage a restaurant. When the restaurant starts to get crowded, he needs to start a list of those waiting to be seated. These people need to be given a rough estimate of how long a wait they should anticipate. He could even get those buzzing pagers many restaurants use to let a group know their table is ready. That would help everyone have a better experience. Right now, he is gruff and throws his problems on the customer. If this young man is still working at Jett's Grill, I wish him well.
This restaurant gets at least a second star, because the food is very good. If you're willing to seriously wait it out, you'll have a good meal. -

Restaurant in the hotel where James Dean, Elizabeth Taylor and Rock Hudson stayed while filming GIANT, this hit or miss collection of entrees with no intelligible theme is a great find when local favorite Maiya's is closed...which was the case when we came here.
Disjointed service, but beautiful bar and great courtyard where service was slow, but hey, we're in Marfa.
Full bar, a find in this town, and even though they didn't know how to make certain drinks, (they being not far from high school students) the attractive and well-dressed staff were happy to learn.
Great ambiance of old-school Texas. Worth coming to for at least drinks if Maiya's is open. Courtyard comes alive after dark. -

I've spent quite a few evenings in the Jett's courtyard sharing drinks and stories with friends. It's a lovely place, and when hanging out with locals it's also a source of countless stories and legends. I can't comment on the food, as I've never managed to make it to Jett's while the kitchen was still open.
Sadly, they were closed for a private event (wedding) during my last visit so I couldn't take my first-time-in-West-Texas friends to check it out, but there's always next time. -

I had a cheeseburger. It was good, but not fantastic. I had been in Texas for several days and had not eaten any beef, or meat even for that matter- which seemed odd to me. With Texas, I think of cattle and thick steaks.
The were very accomodating to my vegan and vegetarian dining companions who had to make altercations and requests to a couple menu items.
Awesome decor and I loved the fountain. -

This was probably our favorite restaurant on our trip to Marfa. The seating was outdoor and casual, and the food was impressive although a tad expensive. We both ordered chicken, my dish was breaded with tortillas and tasted fantastic. The vegetables were cooked perfectly and the whole dish went together perfectly with our beers.

i came here with some friends on a trip to marfa. our choices for dinner were a little limited because restaurants like to close on random days (or months -- i'm looking at you, blue javelina) in small town, west texas. the place was simply packed. at least 5 other diners (that's sarcasm). but honestly, i thought the food was great. that's why i'm giving them 4 stars. i had the pistachio fried steak, which came with this great jalapeño sauce. our waiter was courteous and refilled my water 3 times, which i always appreciate. not the most amazing meal i've ever had, but certainly an enjoyable one.
also, bonus -- when we passed on the dessert choices, our waiter recommended a place around the corner with blue bell ice cream. now that's service! -

I won't eat at Jett's - the food is usually anywhere from just OK to downright awful - but the patio is gorgeous and the bar is very good. Summer days on the patio with a margarita!
