Jennifer is truly a precious gem. Before I met her I had many acupuncture treatments with others specialist, no one was as effective as Jennifer. I have been having insomnia almost all my life and never found help. After my treatment with Jennifer my problem is gone, thanks to sweet, hard working Jennifer. Her treatment, which includes cupping and massage, is very relaxing and because the needles are so small there is no pain, and most importantly she explains very well her work!
I have recommended her to my friends and everyone is very pleased with her service. -

Jennifer is seriously a miracle worker! I have been seeing her for about 5 years and she has helped me with everything from digestive issues to insomnia. Her bedside manner will make you feel very at ease, even if you're new to acupuncture. The needles do not and should not hurt! Instead, acupuncture can be a transcendent experience (yes, I know that sounds hookey, but it's true!)
There are times I take a break for a few months, but I always come back due to Jennifer's outsanding service and the help acupuncture offers my various ailments. Go see her! -

She specializes in Japanese acupuncture techniques
and Hara diagnosis this emphasizes gentle methods,
combined with effective results.
I've been having treatments to help with minor
back problems, and digestion issues.
The regimen she recommended for me included
Acupressure to stimulate blood flow and relieve muscles.
Cupping to remove toxins and a custom formulation of
loose herbs which I brew at home into a tea.
Her office is cozy and inviting. She makes you feel very comfortable and relaxed with her soothing voice and gentle hands. During my sessions I am gently lulled to sleep only to awaken feeling refreshed and recharged.
My Chi is balanced and my soul is happy. . . . -

I found Jennifer through pure serendipity. I needed to find a new acupuncturist since mine had retired and I saw the sign outside her shop in Nob Hill. I do very high impact sports so I always have some kind of joint pain or injury and Jennifer always sets it right.
She has such a wonderful, caring "bedside manner" that it's like stopping by to see a friend. The herbs she recommended have helped my allergies. And best of all, she also does "cupping" and other massage techniques in addition to the traditional acupuncture treatment, which is a wonderfully relaxing extra-added-bonus along with all the benefits I usually get from acupuncture treatment. -

I came to Jennifer with a weird disease that western doctors pretty much said they could not treat. I lost part of my hearing, and suffered from vertigo attacks which left me completely disabled: I was vomiting and incapable of moving for several hours at a time. Nothing I did seemed to improve my condition, and I was quickly losing hope.
Long story short: After two treatments, my symptoms stopped. I go in for regular 'tune-ups', but I have not experienced any vertigo since the second visit. I have now been a faithful patient for 4 years and can honestly say that this woman really knows what she is doing. She's also incredibly personable and articulate, speaks perfect english, is incredibly knowledgeable,has a great sense of humor, and is also extremely down to earth...AND, she takes my insurance!!!You will love her...but don't take my appointment time ;o))) Seriously. Don't take my appointment time. -

The best part about Jennifer's practice, is that she listens. Whatever little ache or pain you have is an important clue and she takes this seriously in her practice. It's nice to come to a clinic and feel that every concern you have (big or small) is listened to and given importance.
She has excellent bedside manners and sits down with you before each session to be briefed on your health. Additionally she is very professional, she has a good balance of business as well as keeping things light and not letting the business side be over-bearing. She has genuine concern for her clients. Her touch is very light so I'd say if your fear is the needles, then have no fear. My first experiece with acupuncture were with traditional Chinese acupuncturists who I also value and so I have to admit I am used to the deeper/bigger needles and prefer them sometimes. Both styles (Japanese & Chinese) are good.
Jennifer is very knowledgeable in Eastern medicine and I appreciate that she shares this knowledge with me so that I am able to learn and change my habits. She is also trusting and generous. -

Jennifer is a very gifted healer. She resolved a long-standing (10 years!) shoulder problem from a car accident within a few short months (and had amazing relief after my first visit with her) -- and I had previously had physical therapy on it, see a chiropractor regularly, and lived with the chronic pain for a long time.
Jennifer is my health care provider of choice -- no matter what the issue, her acupuncture is what helps me resolve any health issues. She is the most compassionate, gentle, caring, effective healer, and is better than any western medical doctor I have seen. -

Jennifer was amazing. i went in with a nagging knee tenderness that had gone on for weeks and in the course of one hour i have been symptom free for weeks. she gave extended one on one attention and care that is rare in modern medicine. i could not endorse her strongly enough. it was an issue i would not have thought accupunture would have been the modality of choice but it worked and thats all i can ask.

There is a reason Jennifer has had a consistently busy practice for years now. Jennifer is the best acupuncture I have ever had, and I have been to practitioners from Santa Cruz to Hawaii. She makes you feel very comfortable in the relaxed environment she lovingly sets up, and she has a wonderfully light touch with needles. Her sense of humor is a joy, and she is a good listener who never judges people, no matter what issues are going on in their lives and/or bodies.
Whenever I am in San Francisco I make an absolute point of having a session with Jennifer. -

Jennifer Carino is simply amazing. I started seeing her last year after suffering from a long-term exposure to toxic indoor mold, which subsequently resulted in a lung infection: bronchitis. From the moment I went in, I felt as though she was going to take care of me, and she has. I left that first appointment feeling as though I had been taken care of by my mom! From the music, to the cupping, to the acupuncture, to the herbs, to acupressure, to her bedside manner: she is the best. She asks a ton of questions, is very, very thorough, and as a result I have been seeing her every month-- sometimes twice a month-- for a year now, and my immune system is rocking for it.
She uses Japanese acupuncture needles, which are teeny tiny and do not hurt one bit. They are subtle and relaxing. I have gotten the stomach treatment several times (for PMS symptoms, indigestion, and it's supposed to benefit metabolism, as well!); the cupping treatments; the overall wellness treatments; and the facial treatment (more below). Her prices are the most reasonable in the Bay Area -- but don't think for a second that you are getting less! She goes out of her way to make you feel that you are getting the best treatment possible. Jen won't push any herbs on you-- so if you want them, you just need to say so. I respect her for this and feel as though she has the utmost integrity in her business.
Facial acupuncture: Mei Zen is a type of cosmetic acupuncture that Jennifer also practices. It ROCKS. After two treatments, I felt as though I had the "glow" of women who are pregnant-- my skin looked fantastic, the Qi had been restored to my face, and people are constantly telling me that I look younger than my age (I'm 33). Mei Zen uses different needles than standard Japanese acupuncture, so it does sting a little bit when she puts them in-- but definitely no more than any standard facial! Her prices for Mei Zen are totally reasonable-- much more so than anyone else in the area.
In a nutshell: Jen Carino is the BEST. I recommend her to everyone. -

Jennifer is wonderful! She takes her time and really listens to the problems you are experiences. She has a gentle touch and lovely room in which she does the accupuncture. She is very responsive and tries to accomidate your schedule.

I have been going to Jennifer for two years now for treatment of my migraines. She is wonderful. Acupuncture has helped me tremendously. Jennifer is knowledgeable and provides a very calming environment for her practice. In addition to my migraines she has treated me for allergies and overall health and well-being. I highly recommend her for anyone who is looking for an acupuncturist or traditional chinese medicine.

Jennifer is amazing. She is so sweet and understanding. I believe that an acupuncturist/herbalist's bedside manner is extremely important bc the more comfortable you are, the more likely you are to share everything that's going on with you and feel relaxed when being needled and treated. She uses both Chinese and Japanese needles, so if you ask, she'll use the smaller ones, which feel almost like nothing (like a fingernail prick at worst). The herbs she's given to me have produced fantastic results. The nature of pain is so strange, sometimes you don't even know how much pain you were in until it goes away. I have been recovering from fibromyalgia and thru Jennifer's nutritional advice, herbs, and acupuncture I am getting better and better every day. I didn't even know I could feel this good. However, you must hold up your end of the bargain and follow what she tells you and take your herbs, or else, don't complain that you're in pain! Our bodies operate so much more holistically than Western doctors can grasp in their discretized specialties. Go see Jennifer for both your small and big issues.

I drive from the South Bay on a regular basis (1-2x/month) for my much needed acupuncture visits with Jennifer. Even though I have my choice of therapists to go to that are closer to home, I choose to make the drive to the city to go to Jennifer. There is just no one like her, she is able to combine professionalism and knowledge with a caring personality. I know she has a full schedule and tends to the needs of her many clients, but she always remembers my history and is genuinely concerned about my progress. I agree with all the positive reviews here: She is very easy to talk to and she listens to all your concerns and works with you to alleviate them. She has helped me with every little and large issue I have. She is also very intuitive and has a very healing touch. Over time, I noticed a tremendous difference in my overall physical and mental health with her treatments. I am afraid to even think at what state I would be in now if I did not do anything at all.
