Not much can be said about Jeni's that hasn't been said before.
The wait sucks during peak moments but that's just a sign of the orgasm your mouth is about to have!!!
My favorites: Backyard Mint, Wildberry Lavender, Berries and Burgandy, Cherry Lambic!
When I read recently that two of the top 10 ice cream makers were from Ohio, it clearly made sense as to why I've grown to be quite the ice cream addict. Although I now live in Seattle, I grew up in Dayton, OH, and Greater's Ice Cream was the big treat. So when I heard about Jeni's from some local Columbus friends and even saw a man in Seattle with a Jeni's T-shirt, I knew I had to make it a top destination priority on my next trip to the Mid-west.
Today was my lucky day. As I approached the bright and airy parlor, I was ecstatic to find that there was no line as I'm used to the half hour+ wait at the new Seattle establishments. At first, I was overwhelmed with the long list of exotic flavor combinations, but took a deep breath and quickly scanned the board to see what jumped out at me. First was the Salty Caramel, as I'm a huge fan of the salty sweet combination and also because this is a favorite flavor of mine at Molly Moon's ice cream in Seattle. Next was the goat cheese and dried cherry, again, a comforting flavor reminding me of my home in Seattle (Rainier cherry season is my favorite time of year). And to balance my indulgent choices, I figured I'd round out the trio with something a little lighter such as the apricot yogurt recommended by the sweet scooper behind the counter.
The salted carmel was a mellow mix of the two named ingredients. While Molly's version has a much richer flavor, it becomes too intense after only a few bites. Jeni's was decadent while not confusing my taste buds.
Next up was the goat cheese and cherry and oh my goodness it was heaven in my mouth. You could taste the richness and consistency of goat cheese yet the sweet tang of the cherries balanced it out. I could have eaten a vat of it, but my brunch was still fresh in my tummy, so I had to settle for a hearty sample bite.
Finally I moved onto the apricot yogurt, as I try not to discriminate against the basics. I was pleasantly surprised. Although the flavor could have been a little more intense, the yogurt was surprisingly creamy and rich and held the consistency of gelato. It's common for yogurt to take a back seat to ice cream, but this yogurt held strong and I savored each gooey bite.
All I can say is that I now have a reason to come home this year for Christmas (yes, I enjoy ice cream even in the winter) and that that other ice cream from 90 minutes South, has nothing on Jeni.
Dear Jeni's -
I never have written you a proper review, and I don't really know why... but for now, I reviewed you on my review of North Market, so let me just quote... myself... *smirk*
But the true gem of NM, and of Columbus really, is Jeni's Gourmet Ice Cream. OMG. So, I'm actually convinced that the salty caramel ice cream sandwich came down from heaven from god. God actually makes these, in case your wondering, and they will send you into convulsions of divine ecstasy when you eat them. At least they make me wiggle in my seat and exclaim over and over about their goodness. Wow. Thanks, Jenni's! I should really write them a seperate review (if I haven't yet), but this is definitely a huge reason to come to NM.
Thanks Jeni's, I heart you. Like a lot.
Melanie B.
Went to Short North (and Columbus, for that matter) for the first time ever a few weeks ago, and this place was definitely a highlight. Their flavors are pretty interesting, though some of the weirder ones are too unlike normal ice cream for me, like pad thai or spicy ice cream or whatever. But for the most part, the ice creams here are all good.
I got the goat cheese ice cream with Michigan cherries, and it was simply delicious. Look below for a tasty pic of it.
My only complaint here is that I bought one of the crazy bottled sodas they have, like rhubarb or something, and it was over $3. That's ridiculous, but after I heard the price I should've put it back. It wasn't worth it.
If you have already visited my blog, then you know how much I love Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream. Hopefully this review will shed some light on why I love this ice cream so much.
First is the look of the stores - simple, clean, and clever. Ice cream is the focus and it easily stands out against the white walls. I especially love the milk bottle lights hanging from the ceilings. All of the seasonal and classic flavors are easily visible and listed on the wall in front of you.
One of the best parts of the Jeni's experience is being able to taste as many flavors as you want! The people in line behind you (and yes there will be a line) may look at you a little funny (because they are just as excited to eat Jeni's as you are) but the staff will happily serve you taste, after taste, after taste. Speaking of the staff, they are great. I truly believe that the staff are just as excited about ice cream as I am and they want to make sure I have a good experience every time. They are full of good recommendations for flavor combinations.
If you are looking for a traditional ice cream shop, you may be in for a shock. Jeni's has a few "traditional" flavors (Honey Vanilla Bean, Belgian Milk Chocolate, Strawberry Buttermilk) but otherwise be prepared to experiment. The Salted Caramel flavor provides an excellent balance of salty and sweet; add smoked almonds and you get the best-seller Gravel Road - sweet, salty, smoky, and with some added crunch! Thai Chili is spicy and smooth with peanut butter and creamy coconut milk adding texture and cayenne pepper giving you some bite.
Jeni is an artist that uses a local palette of seasonal and responsibily grown/raised ingredients. Every season she is adding new flavors to the already abundant menu - Sweet Corn and Blackberries, Backyard Mint, Blood Orange, Wildberry Lavender, Lemon Yogurt with Blueberries...to name a few.
Since the focus of this store is on the ice cream, there are very few toppings available to ruin the taste. Jeni's does offer an enticing list of sundaes, including the current seasonal Mojito Sundae.
In sum, you will not be disappointed with your Jeni's experience. Be brave, experiment, and above all else, Enjoy!
Hands down the best ice cream I've ever had. With the ever changing flavors it's a new experience every time you order.
They ship using dry ice, so you don't have to be in Columbus to enjoy this delicious ice cream (I know I wouldn't be caught in Ohio.) Even for someone who's not into sweets (like myself) it's an amazing little item to splurge on.
I've never been to Ohio, but I've had Jeni's ice cream. God bless "order online" and dry ice! Mark my words: When I meet Jeni, she is going to get a full tongue kiss on the mouth. You heard me right - tongue kiss.
Some of my favorite flavors include:
- Salty Carmel aka "dinner"
- Queen City "You Don't Need A Boyfriend Anymore" Cayenne
- "Who Cares if You Licked the Spoon and I'll Get Swine Flu" Thai Chili
Jeni, girl, I'm comin' for you. Pucker up!
Some of the best ice cream I've ever had. In the three days I was in Columbus, I came here twice... Does that make me a fatty? Whatever, I don't care.
First of all, free samples. That's super important when you have unique flavors like Jeni's.
Second, you can get 2 half scoops, each of a different flavor. The blending possibilities are endless!
Third, the ice cream is orgasmic. I had the sweet corn and berry ice cream the first time I came here, and the flavors blended surprisingly well. I already knew that I liked corn ice cream, but this was the best that I've ever had. Much sweeter (but not over-saccharinely sweet) and more flavorful than other versions. The berry aspect also added a nice touch. The second time I came here, I got a half scoop of berries and burgundy and a half scoop of the lavender. The two went together surprisingly well (although I can't take credit for the blend... Good call, Stevie). It appealed to all of my senses (other than hearing, obviously. That would just be odd). The deep color of the berries and burgundy mixing with the pale purple of the lavender was super pretty. I would wear clothes with that color combination. It smelled like a good date, wine and flowers. I'm a very textural eater, and I liked the way the more sorbet-like berries and burgundy gave way to the creamy lavender ice cream. It plays nicely on your tongue. And of course, it was delicious; otherwise none of the other praise I'm giving would really matter in the slightest. Yeah, Jeni's is pretty awesome.
I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! I'm from Seattle and wish there was a Jeni's there. For all you Seattlites, if you love Molly Moons, you will LOVE Jeni's! It is waaayyyy better then Molly Moons in taste and variety. Definitely worth a stop if you ever find yourself in the Columbus area. (Yes they ship across the country but it is a fortune).
To the good stuff...... I walked in the cute friendly shop and was in utter shock, I had no idea what to order. There had to be 15 or more flavors to choose from. Now these were not your usual chocolate chip mint, strawberry, cookie dough etc...... It had to be the most amazing and unusual flavor combos I have ever seen. After what seemed like 5 minutes of indecision, I finally opted for the 'trio' which was 3 half scoops. I got the sweet corn with blackberry swirl, goat cheese ice cream with roasted cherries and the 'Gravel Road' (salty caramel with smoked almonds). Absolutely amazing! The sweet corn with blackberries tasted like summer..... what an amazing corn flavor! (May sound weird but it was excellent)
I also had a taste of the Thai chili which tasted exactly like a spicy Thai peanut dipping sauce (not my fave), pistachio honey, backyard mint and apricot. Available that day was also celery, Riesling poached pear, carrot cake, strawberry buttermilk, wild berry lavender, beets with lemon poppy seeds and pecan bourbon to name a few.
I love that the shop uses only local ingredients from the farms nearby. The staff is so super friendly! Cant wait to come back the next time I'm in town and try the other flavors. By far the BEST ice cream I have ever had!
I thought I didn't live within a thousand miles of Columbus, Ohio but, to my surprise, I'm only about half that distance away.
I guess it's still a little bit too far to run over to Jeni's for dessert.
But, I still remember the salty carmel flavor as one of the highlights of my trip through the Midwest last summer. I'm on their email list and I just got news about how they dedicated a collection of ice creams to artist Wayne Thiebaud. You bastards, you really know how to hurt a guy.
You can have Jeni's Ice Cream shipped to you via Fed Ex (expensive), but I'm working on a better way: A five hundred and thirty-eight mile long plastic spoon that will allow me to reach from my apartment to Columbus.
I should have the bowl portion finished by mid-June.
Oh Jeni Jeni Jeni! I enjoyed our tryst that one Tuesday afternoon and since then I can't stop thinking about you.
You have such eclectic taste, anything from Thai chili to sea salt pepitas. You have such irresistible qualities in which you can be a man's man and enjoy sports over lambic beer and bourbon. Yet you can be as sweet and delicate as riesling poached pear.
I see a hint of bipolar and unpredictability with you, but that's what makes you so spontaneous and exciting. That's fine, I can be your salty and you be my caramel.
So what do we do now? I didn't want to ruin our intimate moment on the counter by asking such probing questions. It was just so hot and passionate, when I pressed my lips against you, it felt like you were melting before my eyes.
Just make sure you visit me in Chicago sometime. You never know, you might like Chicago more than Columbus. I know how you like colder weather. Anyway, I know I'm sounding so corny and sappy. I left 10 voice messages, emailed you, and facebooked you and just awaiting your call, my Amarena Cherry.
Jeni's
fantastically frozen
waiting, licking, loving
flavors mysterious abound within
so sweet.
You cannot call yourself an ice cream lover unless you have been to Jeni's. Two locations, one in North market and one on High Street just past Short North and just before downtown. Parking is a pain in the ass, unless you are as lucky as I am and have bums offer to find you a parking space for a small fee.
Sweet Corn and Blackberry- Strange, but hey, it's Ohio. You kinda have to love corn in all its forms.
Queen City Cayenne- Chocolate and cayenne? Oh yes, The Aztecs had it right.
Salty Carmel- Their signature and a favorite of the masses.
Riesling Poached Pear- My husbands favorite. Pure juicy pear and alcohol... mmmm.
The amazing thing about this place is the creativity. You just have to go for it, try the flavor that you find the strangest, you may fall in love. I am so pleased that Jeni's uses Ohio ingredients- Krema Peanut Butter, Ashland County honey and Stauf's Coffee. Their pride in their work is noticeable and is worth the extra cash.
Oh, and if they have the Strawberries and Campaign sundae on special... do it.
I was in Columbus for a conference about a year ago. I don't remember much about the conference itself, but what I still remember is my daily trip to Jeni's. I loved all the creative flavors they offered. Some sounded so odd, and yet turned out to taste great (Thai chili, anyone?).
Jeni's Ice Cream makes me almost look forward to another conference in Columbus in the future.

My friend drives me to get some ice cream at night. The place looks clean, and is fairly crowded with people chatting it up with their cups and cones.
There is a good variety of flavors, and the ice cream guy offers little sample spoons to try em out. I try the belgian chocolate, which was like Rocky Road without the rocks and marshmallows. I also try vanilla and honey, which was pretty much what it tasted like. I debate for a few seconds and settle on a waffle cone with a single scoop of vanilla & honey.
It was damn good, tho a little on the sweet side to be eating so much of it at once. If there was a cute girl to share the cone with me, it'd have been perfecto.
Absolutely fantastic and fun ice cream!!!!!! I had the salted caramel on a sugar cone but tried about 5 different unique flavors. SO AWESOME!!! A Columbus MUST!!
Only an artist would come up with ideas for ice cream flavors like olive oil with sea salt pepitas! Part of what I love about Jeni's ice creams is her creativity. The flavors are certainly not any that I would have thought up on my own - and I'm an artist, myself!
The flavors are always changing and each time there's at least one flavor that makes me go "What?!" But, I was always taught to try new things because you may just find you like it. Back a little while there was a flavor called sweet corn and blackberry. I thought for sure it couldn't really taste like corn, but to my surprise it was indeed corny.
Jeni's uses local ideas and ingredients. One of my favorites is the Queen City cayenne that blends cocoa, cinnamon and, you guessed it, cayenne pepper. This idea is not actually foreign to us Ohioans. Cincinnati is also called the Queen City and out of it comes Cincinnati chili, which uses those ingredients. Skyline Chili is most famous for spreading the Cincinnati chili idea nationwide.
There are also seasonal flavors. For a good combination to freshen you up from those balmy summer days, I recommend a scoop of lime cardamom with lingonberries and a scoop of grapefruit hibiscus. What I like most about the lime cardamom is that it's hardly sweet. It's got a taste tangy enough that when it first hits your tastebuds it'll make you go, "Whew!!" There is something just so refreshing about citrus flavors.
Another thing that I like about Jeni's is she uses all natural ingredients, including the cream. I am actually quite sensitive to fresh dairy products, which is a bummer because ice cream is by far my favorite dessert. But, with Jeni's ice creams I have yet to have a problem after eating them.
New locations are opening around Columbus, including in Bexley and a second Short North location. By far the most popular locations are the Short North and North Market, and because of that are the locations with the longest lines. If you don't want to deal with long lines, the one in Grandview is not nearly so crowded. Don't get me wrong, they do great business, as well. The Grandview location is my favorite so far because it is quieter, even though there's plenty of traffic on Grandview Avenue. The parlor in Grandview is also homey while at the sametime modern. Heather, the store manager, is a great person to talk to as she is very friendly and knowledgeable about what Jeni's is up to. She was kind enough to let me into the store to talk to her and take pictures as she was setting up.
Finally, after three years of intently studying Jeni's flavor menu -- which changes with the Ohio seasons -- I was able to sample 6 late summer/early fall flavors yesterday, thanks to Dan B. and Tina E. who hosted the first Annual Ice Cream Social (ICS 1), graciously ordering 6 pints via dry-ice shipment ($40. to CA) to support this sweet, messy, backyard function.
While Jeni's lost first prize to the homemade raspberry, she wowed everybody with her "pistachio and honey", and the majority with her "butterscotch black brownie" and "queen city cayenne". I enjoyed the way the cinnamon and cayenne surprise-kicked me in the mouth -- preventing the condensed milk chocolate from settling down for a quiet nap on my tongue.
Her "lime cardamom yogurt with lingonberries" and "sweet corn and blackberry" were my least favorite -- the former just a total assault on the taste buds (and lime is a favorite flavor; I gobble up those TJ's lime popsicles) while the blackberry swirl in the latter was too reminiscent of the gummy fruit jam ribbon found in lesser brands. Others, though, did enjoy it and per Jeni's website the flavor makes a welcome comeback every summer season.
The "apple cider 5-spice sorbet" was also nice with the clove and nutmeg notes especially detectable, although by the time I got around to sampling this one (we had a combination of 16 pints or quarts in front of us!) my bowl was tainted by a soupy swirl of chocolate-caramel-coffee-cheesecake-lavender and I was no longer judging a pure unadulterated sample.
I like that Jeni is mindful of the seasons and uses locally (Columbus, OH) sourced ingredients where she can, and other top quality ingredients elsewhere (Italian amarena cherries, neighboring Kentucky's Maker's Mark whiskey in the buttered pecan). It's apparent via her website and kitchen that she loves what her region offers. I look forward to one day visiting the City of Columbus and one of her now four retail locations.
And I won't wait for the 2nd ice cream social to sample the next batch that just might raise Jeni's its fifth star. In fact, I'm lining up another small crew of willing samplers now in hopes of nabbing that cherry lambic sorbet before it's gone gone gone!
Go on. Treat yourself. Ice cream dreams do live outside the long lines of Ici and Bi-Rite.
One can not live in Columbus for too long without having a scoop of Jeni's famous Ice Cream. Its almost a requirement for living in this great city -- you can't become a citizen official without having a scoop of this delectible ice cream.
Anyone who'se walked around the world famous North Market knows about Jeni's. And anyone who'se familiar with the Short North know about her new store where a good friend of mine used to take up shop ... but that's a story for another time.
For many parts of the world, Ice Cream is Ice Cream is Ice Cream. But Columbus, and moreover, Ohio has a special love for their frozen creamy treat. From Velvet Ice Cream, to the different kinds you can get across town, to the better brands across the state, there's no place to get ice cream like Ohio. So with all these availabilities, what makes Jeni's so much different?
Three distinct differences: Quality, Service, and Availability.
Jeni's locations offer flavors that can only be imagined by the human mind. Goat Cheese Fig Cognac? I challenge you to find more creative flavors anywhere else. One of my favorites is the seasonal Dark Chocolate Zinfandel -- the wine grape flavor brings down the flavors of the Dark Chocolate, resulting in a very rich, amazing combination of flavors.
The staff at Jeni's is always willing to answer questions about their flavors, and moreover offer samples for whatever you think you may like. And if you've found something you like but are afraid to get it home? No problem -- Jeni's has a multitude of ways to get it home....and in some cases, ship it to wherever you like (Yes, I shipped some to California with a little dry ice packing from the great people at Jeni's -- what of it?).
I'd like to say that Jeni's is one of the best kept secrets of Columbus...but seeing as how everyone knows of it, I don't think that's a correct statement. If you haven't had a scoop of Jeni's amazing ice creams, you'll never know what you're missing out on. And even though we're nearly in the throws of winter, its never too late in the year to enjoy a scoop of Jeni's thick, flavorful ice creams.
Wait, where's the secret 6th star????
Went to the Grandview location...The flesh & blood experience was even better than my Fedex version!! Amazing flavors. I went 2 days in a row. I don't even want to think about how many calories I racked up. The belgian waffles are the perfect complement to the salty caramel flavor. I wish I'd thought to steal a stack of them. Instead, I flew back to NYC with 10 ears of Ohio corn in my carry on. Yes, I am that weird.

Hands down the best. Jeni is a delight. I have been fiending for this treat since I stumbled upon "I Scream" in the North Market. I was so bummed when I turned the corner and to my chagrin, it was gone; replaced by some "obviously" inferior place called Jeni's. It was a long, painful few months before I realized it was simply a name change. That's how loyal I was to her amazing flavors. I still kick myself over that gaff.
Salted Caramel is of course a favorite. I would gladly buy a lifetime supply of the sorely missed Kona Stout. What a delight. She used beer brewed with coffee and the ice cream tasted like drinking a perfect stout with a shot of fine espresso. It was light, frothy, creamy and very satisfying.
I have purchased too many pints to count and have taken to giving it as a gift now that it can be shipped anywhere. I started a family tradition of ice cream tasting over the holidays. We lay out 12 or so pints and go around in a circle tasting each one. Then we try to convince each other which is the best via spirited debate.
Thank you Jeni.
Oh god. Amazing flavors! I recommend the Queen City Cayenne (Chocolate with chili pepper - unusual maybe, but soo good). For summer, mint and cucumber make the coldest ice-cream combo possible. So good.
They make their waffle cones in-house, and their whipped cream is always fresh - prepared in house as well.
Jeni's is pricey, especially for the amount you get, but you're paying for the quality ingredients and the interesting flavors.
Some of Ohio's best ice cream.
Since Jeni started out with her few ice cream machines at the North Market years ago, I have been a loyal customer. Her business has exploded so quickly and it's not a surprise! Her ice cream is absolutely fantastic.
Eating Jeni's ice cream is like discovering the ice cream room of Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. You'll be spinning in the wonderment of all that is creamy and delicious.
I haven't seen it in years, but my favorite flavor used to be Mandarin Green Tea. Maybe I just haven't gone during the right season. Now, when I go back home, I MUST have Lemon Blueberry. The lemon is tart and zingy and the blueberries are plump and in huge, beautiful blooming clusters. Of course Salty Caramel is also a staple and must-have.
I just love how true the flavors are to their ingredients. Jeni isn't about to give you just an idea of what lime and cardamom taste like together. The lime tastes like lime and the cardamom tastes like cardamom and together they taste like heaven! The shnozberries taste like shnozberries!
I know it's tough to get to Columbus for many people. And all of my New York City friends drool over the thought of Jeni's (even though New York has so many unique treats to offer itself). But that's just how good it is.
If you really really want some Jeni's and you really really want to give your tongue the true tastes of magnificent ice cream flavor, I say spend the dough and order it online. Anyone who is anyone dreaming of that ice cream room will surely not regret the expense.
Jeni's is amazing. One of my favorite places to visit when I am back in my home state (a big thanks to my fried Amanda for bringing me here!).
I love the fact they support local farms and the ingredient combos are fantastic. Living in Cali lots of places try to do the same out here, but none have succeeded like Jeni's has.
If you live in the OH or are just visiting be sure to give Jeni's a try.
This is where it's at. This is where I saw my first scoop of Jeni's - when Jeni was still doing the scooping! This ice cream booth offers the same Jeni's quality you'll get at all the other locations, but with a more authentic vibe. It's the market setting that draws me in and makes me want to spend more than I have. There's something about a row of deli counters that I just can't resist. And when you fill one of those deli counters with ice cream...
The staff at the North Market location is the best around too.
I like the scoops. I like the setting. I like the staff. I like this spot.
Coolest sidenote ever: I got to hear Jeni speak about her ice cream. It totally blew my mind. She said her favorite of all the flavors is the lemon. Doesn't that make you love lemon that much more?
I'm updating my review of this Jeni's location because I recently discovered their Belgium Waffles!
I wanted to get breakfast with a friend, but the place we had in mind didn't open until 11:00am (it was 10:00am by the way), so we headed over to North Market in hopes that we would find something suitable for brunch. Since not too many people want Ice Cream in the morning, Jeni's has found a great way to get business from the early grocery shoppers in the North Market. Delicious Belgium Waffles!
For $4 you get a single, hearty, thick, nutty Belgium Waffle. For only $2 more you get to top that warm waffley goodness with TWO scoops of Jeni's Ice Cream. I asked our friendly scooper which of Jeni's crazy Ice Cream flavors would compliment the waffle, and he suggested to stick with the nutty inspiration and try the Maker's Mark with Buttered Pecans. He hit the nail on the head with his suggestion, and now I'll pass that on to you. My friend stuck with the theme and topped hers with Belgium Milk Chocolate Ice Cream.
Way to keep dazzling, Jeni's!

I do not get it. The tastes I have had are all too salty, the texture is weird. I'm not sure what all the hype is about. Denise's in Clintonville is so much better!
The one, the only, the original. The wait in line is worth it.
In the summer, get Backyard Mint. In the winter, get Saigon Cinnamon.
Talk about ingenious flavors! I mean Thai Chili? Cucumber Vodka? Grapefruit and Hibiscus? Goat Cheese and Cognac-something or another? Jeni's is the place to go for REAL ice cream. Graeter's and Ben&Jerry's pale in comparison if you ask me. At least with Jeni's, it doesn't feel that your arteries are clogging every other bite.
Employees are extremely patient and are willing to not only allow you to taste every single flavor of ice cream available, but to answer any questions you may have in regards to what exactly is in a particular flavor of ice cream.
I can't say that I am bold enough to actually finish a scoop of the Thai Chili ice cream, but it's actually not as bad it may sound. At first bite, it may taste like coconut milk and peanut butter mixed together. It's not until a few moments later when you can start to taste the kick of cayenne pepper they have added in the ice cream. Favorites of mine, however, include: Dark Cocoa Gelato, Pistachio, and the Salty Caramel.
A 4 out of 5 for not offering low-fat options of ice cream (and I'm not too terribly fond of sorbets.)
This place is the best ice cream I've ever had. I've been to italy had the gelato, and its good. But the flavors and ingredients at Jeni's are world class. Cherry Lambic, Cherry Goat Cheese, Thai Chili...the best. I grew up in Ohio and was back for a week and went there 4 times. I don't like ice cream either.
Am I the only one who doesn't think the world of ice cream ends at Jeni's? I mean, it's good ice cream and the flavors are interesting, but the mass hysteria that surrounds the place is a bit scary.
I am so jealous they do not have a Washington DC branch. They do ship all over the US, I must investigate when I get home. The salty caramel flavor is divine. We were out for an afternoon stroll on High Street and one of the store clerks said we must try Jeni's for dessert. What a great suggestion! The ice cream is just so rich and even the usual-suspect flavors stand out. Bourbon pecan is worth a try if you are a fan!
A-W-E-S-O-M-E! And, the deliver to anywhere in the US!
First impression:
I took a leap and tried the Thai Chili ice cream for my first visit to Jeni's and it was incredibly rich, which took a bit of getting used to, but it was an ingenious combination of flavors and had tons of character. The store is nicely appointed and the choices about as diverse and inspired as you can get. I am already dreaming of the other flavors I will try.
Alright alright, all of the flavors are amazing - but let me tell you about a fruity combo that will blow your mind. Just get it.
one scoop of passionfruit, one scoop of mango.
Passionfruit is slightly more tart, mango is slightly more sweet - prepare to have your mind blown and your taste buds completely blissed out.
There's not too much to say about this place that hasn't already been said.
My favorites tend to be their fall flavours.. yum to their dark chocolate peppermint.
I'm not the kind to give 5 Stars, but I was simply amazed by the creativity of flavors at Jeni's, such as I have never seen before or since. The Salted Caramel, the Thai Peanut, the Chocolate Cabernet, the Cucumber Fraiche, the Cayenne Cocoa: all amazing.
Oh, and "Summer Berry Goat Cheese" sounds off-putting, but also outstanding.
If I were allotted only one 5 on all of Yelp, this would be it.
I've loved Jeni's for years - ever since she just opened the first location in the North Market, and her ice cream just keeps on getting better and better with each passing year.
Her employees are always super-friendly and accommodating (when I want to sample different flavors, or need dry ice for a long ride home). Her use of local ingredients is commendable. And the flavors? Just awesome. Right now my favorites are the Heirloom Pumpkin Mascarpone and the Goat Cheese Fig Cognac.
We're so blessed to have such a gifted artisan in our midst. Even though her ice cream is not inexpensive, it's worth every penny.
great flavors, a bit pricier
You know you're loved when you fly out to visit your friend and she takes you to this place.
The texture and flavors were perfect. And just as good as the ice cream was the girl who helped us.
I ordered a chocolate, but didn't read that there was cinnamon in it. I was going to tough it out, even though I don't love cinnamon in chocolate. She saw my face and said, "why don't you return it! i'll give you one you like". I said no at first, feeling strange and like a fussy customer but she insisted and was funny about it so I walked away with a yummy cabernet flavored chocolate instead.
If you live in Columbus, or anywhere in Ohio, and you want to tell someone you love them? Bring them to Jeni's.
