Soupy xiao long bao, fresh Dumplings, warm potstickers(fried dumplings) and leek turnovers.
What more can you ask for?
They were all scrumptious.
Excellent & Efficient Service.
The bakery is great too. I ended up getting some of the curry pastries & they are some of the best I have tasted.

I had originally wanted some baked goods, but they ran out when I got there this evening. I mean they had NONE.
However, I got the small steamed dumplings and it was quite good. Alas, it wasn't great as Fried Dumpling in NY's LES. Plus, I think I had better else where.
But, I will come back to the restaurant and try other dishes.

Forgive me as I don't remember the names for the things I tried here.
The steamed dumplings were awesome! I don't even know how many orders our group had to get and to keep getting as we kept finishing them off as we got them.
The fried green onion pancake was pretty damn good! I loved the crispiness. This was another dish that we had to order multiple times.
We also had a dish that had some kind of meat and eggplant. I really didn't care for what kind if meat that it had, but it was damn delicious.
The seasoned green beans with meat, again I forgot which kind of meat that it had, but it was strikingly similar to the kind of soy sauce seasoned green beans that I grill up. (Mine are better :-P)
Also, we had some spicy seafood soup which was kind of mediocre. The noodles didn't seem fresh at all; they seemed as if they were frozen beforehand. The spiciness was lets say... weak. I didn't even break a sweat. I could have gotten this dish with better quality at Chien Garden.
Overall, my favorite thing here was the steamed dumplings. Here's a tip: try to eat the dumpling while they're hot! They're not as good when they're cold.
P.S. No alky served here, but it's B.Y.O.B.!

I've been coming to Jeng Chi bakery since I was young, especially because it is one of the regular stops on my mom's route through Chinatown. I loved peering at the racks of bread, and my mouth always watered when my mom would ask me if she should pick up a few extra rolls of the green onion bread.
As I passed through junior high to high school, I started going to Jeng Chi bakery with friends. We've always enjoyed their dumplings, the green onion pancake, and the beef noodle soup. The portions are filling, the staff is friendly, and everything is - my favorite word - cheap!
It also helps that the nice elderly gentleman usually manning the counter has always been a smiling face, and slipped myself and some friends pieces of chocolate before!
During the Autumn moon festival time, you can also stop by and pick up some moon cakes.
It's a small little gem in the strip of Dallas Chinatown!

Eh. Maybe my tastebuds aren't suited for Jeng Chi. I grew up in Houston, where authentic Chinese food is cheap and quite abundant. That said, I have had good chinese food in Dallas. So, I don't see why everybody loves this place.
The dumplings are OK at Jeng Chi. I have had way better at home and other restaurants. The xiao long bao is WEAK. Not very soupy and the meat is mealy. I can find better xiao long bao in the frozen section at the super market. Why is it that New York and Cali seem to be the only places that have GOOD xiao long bao.
Anyways, that being said. Jeng Chi does have a real family feel to it. Not like other restaurants where you sit down and feel like your sitting in restaurant. You know? At Jeng Chi, you sit down and almost feel like your home. Wish the food was like home though.

Yummy burst in yo mouth dumplings! That's what this place is known for. Cheap prices.. I really don't order anything except dumplings here. Their extra juicy and hot. Check out their bakery, it's really nice. The fruit cups and egg custards are yummmmm! I also like the old man at the counter that says "xie xie" (thank you) repeatedly, it's so cute. Authentic chinese food so enjoy!
EDIT
I forgot to mention that the tab for four people was only $35.

Overall recommendation- I'd definitely come back here. My meal consisted of the leek and pork dumplings (jiaozi), shanghai dumplings (xiaolungbao), leek turnover(?) , green onion pancake (tsung yao bing), and seafood noodle soup(?). The dumplings and shanghai dumplings were awesome, especially the shanhai ones. They came out hot and were full of juicy goodness upon taking a bite. The leek turnover was delicious as well, pan fried with a well seasoned filling. The seafood noodle soup will not be ordered again. Quite bland and nothing to write home about. The green onion pancake was ok. It's one of my favorite dishes, so i'll order it again, but definitely not the best i've ever had. For this type of food, I'm thinking it'll be hard to find another place in Dallas like this.

The Bakery. This was my Sunday Lunch regular. I frequented here weekly to get my craving of homemade dumplings and some traditional chinese stir-fry dishes. What once was my favorite, the Pork with Shredded Mustard Tuber( you have to ask them to cook it with Jalapenos) is now a bit dissapointing. What use to be an awesome dish, now has turned into a runny, garlic filled dish. The texture is all wrong and the taste is completely altered by the massive amounts of garlic. This dish use to be the reason why I came here weekly.
However, I will never leave 'The Bakery' without my weekly fix of pot stickers, small juicy steamed dumplings, and leek turnover. This is a great mom and pop joint that's been around since I grew up here.
This place is not about service and ambience, its about the food.

Hmm...Maybe I ate the wrong thing. I felt the dumplings were over steamed and soggy, the noodles tasteless, and the service bad. I'll go back and try it again just to be sure.

Small juicy dumplings (won't even attempt the chinese name there) and green onion pancake. Absolutely the way to go. It's a hole in the wall dumpling house, and probably the best Dallas has to offer (though I've heard the small juicy dumplings at Shanghai Restaurant are also very good), but obviously if you're coming from the West Coast, NY, or China then it's a little pale.

Another highly recommended authentic Chinese joint! A lot of people order their dumplings. I usually get their green onion pancake, cold vegetarian noodle, spicy fried chicken (amazing!), stir-fried pork with string bean, and the hot pot stickers. If you like spicy stuff, I recommend mixing these items for your dipping sauce: soy sauce, vinegar, and the chili sauce (all available on your table). Enjoy!

Lazy Sunday afternoon hanging with a old friend and decided to head over for a late lunch/snack. We had the xiao long bao (soup dumpling), guo tie (pan fried dumplings), and scallion pancakes.
Everything was tasty and fresh, the xiao long bao came out hot and steamy, but it bothered me that they didn't bring us any soup spoons to hold them to eat.
I just came back from Taiwan recently, so I didn't want to be too harsh on the food.
The desserts and sweet cream rolls are very delish. My friends got me a cake for my bday from there is it was nice, not overly sweet and very fresh.
Oh and the decor is ugly, but if it was nice, you'd being paying for it!

I ate here again recently and it was actually still really good! The eggplant and pork is really tasty and fish ball soup is just one of those simple comfort foods that I love. I was not impressed with the seafood stir fried noodles though. Just pretty much tasted like black pepper to me.

Get the spiced tofu appetizer in the refrigerated section of the bakery (It's a family favorite. Even my mom can't get her spiced tofu to taste as good as Jeng Chi's). Or get their baked breads/cakes. Or get their green noodles (normally has shredded chicken and chicken broth but you can request it vegetarian).
This place used to be a 5. Something changed with the chef about a year and a half ago and it has never been the same. For quick Chinese food, or dumplings you can't beat this place. They have the best prices and the best tasting Chinese food in Dallas. The reason I drop them from a 5 to a 4 is because it really is not what it used to be. I used to get the pork with shredded mustard tuber, this dish was excellent. Probably one of my favorite things to eat of all time. Unfortunately whoever took over in the kitched decided that it was a good idea to make it taste like crap and ruin it for me. It's sad to know that I will never have that same awesome dish ever again. Other places make it differently and it's just not the same and more often than not extremely disappointing. What's good is their dumplings stayed the same quality. Every time I'm in Dallas, I HAVE to come here at least once.

I went to this Chinese bakery for lunch this afternoon with a co-worker. The dumplings and noodles are definitely the specialty. Just looking around at the number of tables with dumplings on them is enough to know you have to try them. I haven't had any as tasty in Dallas. We got one of the lo-mein noodle dishes that was excellent. The curry and rice was kind of meh, but I won't let that prevent me from coming back again. Service and fast and friendly and they hardly let the glasses get half empty. I was too full on this trip, but some of the bakery items looked good. I had ordered the thousand flavor peanuts (or something similar) as a appetizer. It looks like they sell them up front and it came to the table in a plastic container (think the bulk wasabi peas at Central Market). Deep fried peanuts. A flavorful, although unhealthy snack. I'll definitely be back. Three dishes and the peanuts came out to be almost $20 (for two). Not really cheap, but the food is worth it.

THE best noodle and dumpling house in the metroplex by far. Whenever I'm home, I make it a point to visit this restaurant. It's a typical Chinese bakery w/ some Chinese deli items as well as frozen dumplings for sale. Half of the building is devoted to restaurant space where they serve hand-made noodles and dumplings made w/ hand-made skins. Notable items include the steamed vegetable dumplings, fried green onion pancake, shredded chicken sesame cold noodle, spicy seafood noodle and shredded chicken w/ spinach-noodles in broth.
