A coworker told me about the great, quick take-out and he wasn't lying!
We called in an order for two burgers, garlic fries, and onion rings and it was ready in 10 minutes. The food was quite delicious and I can't wait to try it again. The service was great for our brief stop in the restaurant and we can't wait to try the dine-in experience.
GF of mine was craving the teriyaki burger so we went. I got a mushroom burger and added jack cheese and grilled onions yum! The mushrooms were very tasty by themselves. The burger size is decent but I kind of wish the meat was seasoned a bit or something. What I liked is that they served our table and were very fast. We ordered garlic fries to go with our burger and MAN those were G A R L I C K Y ! ! ! Just the way I like em!
At the end of stuffing our faces with burgers n fries, we opted for a chocolate shake and split it. That sucker's so damn big you kind of have to. Decent chocolate shake.
Overall its a decent place. I still like Red Robbin's burgers better but I'd come back here again. I think next time I'll opt for turkey as opposed to beef.

Very tasty fast burger joint. Sort of an ultra high-end In N' Out. Much better burgers, much better fries, but still quite fast. I don't share the sentiment that Jeffrey's is expensive considering the quality of ingredients and the cleanliness/surroundings. In particular, the fat/oil/crap content in these burgers was extremely low.
Incidentally, I love bacon and used to chow down on bacon burgers. But a best practice is not to do that. The fat from the bacon drips all over the bun and burger and you end up with a soggy mess. Bacon and eggs: yes. Bacon on your burger? At your own risk.

Very friendly staff who found us a table for 11+ during lunch rush. The burger was good not amazing but good. It was the onion rings that made it for me. I'd bring the husband and baby but I'm not sure it's worth the drive and the noise.
Order the double cheeseburger, medium rare. If you want anything else, especially if you want a more sophisticated burger, then this place is probably three stars for you. If the medium rare double cheese burger is your idea of "pure", then this place edges slightly over 4 stars. The only thing which would make them better is if there were flames involved in the cooking of the burgers.
I love this place and eat here regularly.
me and a coworker ventured out 6 miles in the storm to visit jeffrey's to quench our burger craving and boy it was worth it! their burgers and onion rings are yummy!
also, their website has pictures of the burgers and honestly, they look just like the pictures!

We loveJeffrey's. It's a bit over-priced. When you order a basic cheeseburger, it comes with American cheese. Not sure if there are other options, but American cheese is nasty and for the price, they should have better cheese.
I'd only visited during the week but decided to take my mother and daughter there on a Saturday for lunch. Bad idea. If you like dining with yuppies who should not have had children due to their complete lack of discipline and basic parenting skills, by all means show up there on a Saturday for lunch. We could not have anything remotely resembling a conversation since there were so many screaming kids. The parents looked on as if they were not aware of their poorly behaved children. Takes away from any ambiance big time.
The burgers are good, but geez, I went there this evening with a friend, we each ordered a burger, garlic fries, and a small soft drink, and the bill came to $23.42!!
Jeffrey's is way overpriced, especially when you factor in the minimal ambiance & that you stand & wait in a line to order your food.
At most comparable places -- Red Robin, Chili's, etc. you pay about the same price for a burger that's just as good --if not better-- & it comes with fries, plus full table-service & a little less of the 'fast-food' atmosphere.
At almost triple the price as comparable products from McDonald's, Burger King, Arby's, et al. the value just isn't there.
My review also holds true for the San Mateo Jeffrey's, but the once very nice thing about the Menlo Park one this evening was the soccer MILFs there around 6:30PM.
If I could give partial stars I would rate Jeffrey's as 3.7 stars.
Your classic looking diner with booths and condiment bar. Extremely clean, which is a big plus for diners. I ordered the Mushroom Burger. The mushrooms were sauteed and well-seasoned, but the burger was a bit bland (but still good). My friend ordered the Artichoke Burger and said the artichokes were extremely fresh. At $6.49, a bit pricey but you can add as much lettuce, tomatoes, relish, onions, mustard, and ketchup that your burger can hold.
The big heaping portion of fries were yummy! Greasy hangover food is the best (after a large bowl of pho).

I seriously have come back and tried this place several times and still cannot agree with the majority here. Burgers are mediocre on a good day and I am continually shocked that this place gets such good reviews.

Good fast service and a very clean dining area.
The chicken finger and fries were ok but not great. The milkshake was good though.
Comparing to Johnny Rockets (in Redwood City) and Jeffrey's Hamburgers in Menlo Park are about the same except for the speedy service of JH.

Order at the front, find a seat and they'll bring you a pretty tasty burger. You have a choice of beef or turkey burger for any burger item.
I came in for lunch with my sister in law and her daughter. The menu is nice and simple - burgers of varying cheese or non-cheesed varieties, drinks and shakes. We didn't order any shakes but the shakes being brought to tables around us were tempting us to go back to the counter! You can pick up your burger fixin's at the condiment bar once your burger has arrived. Malt vinegar and ketchup on all tables with mustard, brown mustard, mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato, pickles, pico de gallo, jalepenos and onions available.
The burger itself was well-cooked without being dry. The meat and bun were both fresh, the veggies were crisp and the fries weren't soggy. I just might be back for one of those shakes!
When the boss told me that there was a new Jeffrey's near us, I was stoked. I consider myself to be an avid fan of the burger - and I remembered the Jeffrey's in San Mateo to be awesome. The Menlo Park Jeffrey's is bigger than the San Mateo one, and even has its own parking lot.
I ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger and a diet coke. Co-workers got a Patty Melt, Avocado Burger, Onion RIngs and Chili Cheese Fries. My burger was perfect! Think and juicy and lots of bacon. They have a condiment bar with veggies, sauces, etc.
The staff was ultra helpful and friendly. The was location clean and decorated in a cool 50's hot rod car theme. I enjoyed my burger immensely, and will be back!

Jeffrey's Hamburgers is a great spot for a quick burger and soda.
Ordering is all done at the front. The menu contains your standard American hamburger joint items: burgers, fries, shakes, hotdogs, salads, etc. You're then given a number and you can sit wherever you want. There is no outdoor seating though. When your food is ready, someone brings it out to you.
I've only had the regular cheeseburger with fries but it was delicious. A great burger in all regards. The service was friendly and quick, the tables and ketchup bottles were clean, and the soda fountain was well stocked with ice, straws, and lids.
If you want a classic American burger, Jeffrey's Hamburgers is a great place to take yourself or your entire family.
This is my favorite Peninsula burger place, hands down. They'll make your burger medium-rare and the meat is juicy and flavorful. They have a "fixins" bar where the produce is fresh. Great pickles.
I've also had their fish and chips. They came out piping hot and crispy on the outside, tender and moist on the inside. Just the way fish should be.
The shakes taste like they are made from real, rich ice cream. You're brought your shake in a glass along with the silver mixing cup which has probably another full glass of shake in it. Easily enough for two to share.
Been here a couple of times, both good experiences. Hot and freshly cooked to order. Fries were actually very good, not ordinary at all. I took mine to go, and had to drive about 15 minutes home, and they were still hot. The spices on the fries made them taste really good, with or without ketchup.
This last time, I wanted a chili burger and I received it exactly as ordered - with chili, onions and mustard spread on the bun. But $1.50 for chili? It's only a buck extra on a hot dog. I got a decent amount, but not what the order taker noted would be "tons". Just under ten bucks, no drink.

We were driving along El Camino Real on a Sunday at midday and spotted Jeffrey's (where we saw quite a bit of people parked outside). When I walked in, I thought it was real neat how they had the old 70s style diner feel. Kind of like some of those spots back on the east coast. But the food was purely average, I expected better.
My buddy got an avocado burger, and while we expected an avocado sliced up or something, he got a whopping half an avocado dropped right there on his burger. My mushroom burger was above average and had a lot of average tasting shrooms on top. And I also got a vanilla shake but that was less than par. Great place to get some quick burgers and appetizers (go for the onion rings over the chilly cheese fries) but nothing more than that.
This is a great burger joint that has much more to offer than just plain old burgers. My favorite so far is the simple cheeseburger, medium, on a wheat bun. The onion rings are very good, as are the garlic fries. Win.

Only a review for their shakes. Seriously? Their vanilla shake was just a gob of soft-serve in cup. If I wanted that, I'd walk to the foster freeze a couple of blocks away and pay just half. For the same price I could've also walked to Borrone and had their Frosted Mocha which is not even in the same galaxy, in terms of quality and taste.
Also, even speaking as a father of two, the other commenters' quips about cursing over-population are right on. I was only in this place long enough to get a shake to-go and already the uncontrolled kid pandemonium was in full tilt.
Jeffrey's is bright and clean, and offers lots of menu options for those who want something other than a burger and a shake. The menu also features lots of burger variations for vegetarians and the health-conscious, from Gardenburgers to turkey patties and wheat buns. It's not a bad place to bring the family -- especially if your family includes car-crazed little boys who enjoy automotive-themed restaurant decor.
Sadly, the hamburgers themselves are just average. Part of the problem is that they're unadorned with the traditional fixin's (lettuce, tomato, pickles, etc.), so they come out looking a bit bland -- just a lonely patty and supermarket-quality toasted buns on a paper-lined plastic basket. It's up to you to elbow your way through the crowd huddled around the condiment bar to heap on the extras (a task that proves logistically challenging when juggling several baskets of burgers). Considering the prices and the personal initiative required at Jeffrey's, as well as the fact that I'm usually herding small, screaming children, it's often easier (and easier on the wallet) to make an In-N-Out run.

I almost cried when I heard there was going to be a Jeffrey's further down the Peninsula. After several years of getting mushroom burgers for lunch at the San Mateo Jeffrey's, I was so happy to hear that I could still get them on occasion, even though I'm now working in Campbell.
I definitely like this location better, since it's bigger, but there is something missing. Maybe it's because when I used to order the mushroom burger with Swiss and onions to go in S.M., the flavors had time to meld together en route, and the onions become more mellow. I figured this out after eating in here, where I had to put my own condiments on the burger. I did ask if they could put the onion on my burger before it was brought to my table, but the counter person didn't understand, so I just deal with it. Still, it's one of the best mushroom burgers ever--tons of mushroom in a garlicky, buttery sauce--and they cook burgers to order, for me that's medium-rare. And of course the fries are fantastic, not to mention the onion rings and milkshakes.
Service is very quick, efficient, cheerful, and friendly. Even the head cook took the time to come over and ask if he could help me when I was looking for Ranch dressing over by the condiment station.

mmmmmmm jeffrey's. I see that most of the other reviewers have the same opinion as I do, so I won't bother with a long review.
Jeffrey's cooks up a mean classic burger, featuring a juicy, flavorful patty sans the fancy sauce. You get your own extras at the condiments bar.
The onion rings here are also crunchy, sweet, and sinfully delicious, better than any fast food onion ring you will ever have.

Great burgers. Very clean diner. Good beers on tap.
It's simiple menu, retro look and dedication to freshness reminds me of an In-N-Out. It's a nice little neighborhoodsy spot.

Tasty burgers in a mock 50s diner. The burger at Jeffrey's is a nice size. It is well-seasoned and cooked well. In particular, the mushroom burger is generously topped with a lot of mushrooms. The sides are also good. However, the non-burger options are not very good.
The service is good. Not really waiter service, they bring your food to the table, but offer little else. You order at the counter.
The decor is mock 50s diner. A lot of chrome and 2D cars. No girls in poodle skirts or guys in short-sleeves, white slacks and paper hats. But, the music is strictly oldies (with some 60s and 70s mixed in).
The price is not a bargain, but it is fair. I am never excited to go to Jeffrey's, but if I want a mushroom burger, it is a good place to go for a quick bite.
Oops... forgot to review this place too.
Came here for lunch one time... place was packed. The servers were quite helpful in scoping out empty (near-empty) tables/booths appropriate for the size of your party while you're ordering (at the counter).
I got some sort of burger (I think it had mushrooms and bacon in it) -- which was quite tasty. Also got the garlic fries (not ballpark delicious, but close).
Condiment bar is a nice touch.
I'd come back to this kid-friendly, work-lunch-able establishment.

This might be biased because I was starving when I went, but I got the bacon burger (other reviews made the cheese sound risky) and was very satisfied. The bacon they serve is thick and greasy and delicious - definitely not the thin overfried crunchy stuff you see on fast food burgers.
The milkshakes are overrated. There are only 3 flavors available: strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla. I got the strawberry and was not super thrilled about it. It wasn't very thick, nor especially strawberry-flavor-full. However, they are very nice about splitting milkshakes - you each get your own glass, whipped cream, and cherry.

When you enter Jeffrey's Hamburgers you will note the easy to read menu above the cash register area. We ordered: frings, one cheeseburger, one bacon cheeseburger, a float, medium soft drink. Customer service was friendly and prompt. Thinking out loud I said, "Mmmm, I want onion rings and fries." The lady at the register was kind enough to let me know that they have "frings" which is a combination of onion rings and fries. After paying, they handed me a plastic number. Then we settled into a comfy booth waited for our lunch order. I had the cheese burger (with bleu cheese) cooked medium well, it was cooked exactly to my specification, the meat was amazingly delicious, and the bun fresh and lightly toasted. My mom had the bacon cheeseburger, I had a bite of the bacon and it was "Wowzers" yes, it was that good! The "FRINGS" were cooked to perfection, not too greasy, and just super tasty. On one side of the restaurant they have the soda machine (for refills) and a condiment bar for your burger. The condiment bar was filled with fresh lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, ketchup, mustard etc. I'm happy to report the Float (root-beer) did not disappoint, it was generously filled with delicious scoops of creamy vanilla ice cream.
I'm a meat and potatoes girl, which isn't hard considering all of my food allergies (tree nuts, cilantro, berries, shellfish and bananas just to name a few items on the list). I do enjoy a good burger from time to time, but have been hard pressed to find a delicious burger (at a restaurant). This burger was made with high quality beef and cooked really well. They have a good menu with a variety of items (maybe next time I'll get the Caesar Salad w/ Steak). The food is delicious, the entire staff helpful and friendly, overall a welcoming environment. I noticed its a great spot for family and friends! Extremely family friendly. Had a good lunch with my mom (i love you!).
And the facts were these, Jeffrey's Hamburgers- Its retro, its delicious, its American as Apple Pie and a Noelle Favorite.

If not for yelp reviews I would not have ventured to Jeffrey's, and this is the first time Yelp has really let me down. This place is gross and not worth a penny.
I'll be honest, there are two pluses: 1) they serve alcohol and 2) they have a make-it-yourself condiment bar.
Beyond that, the cheese on my burger was only partially melted, looked like cheese-whiz and tasted even worse, the burgers were tasteless, the fries were soggy, and "garlic fries" meant they threw a few big chunks of garlic cloves right on top. Not only does your breath smell nasty after that, but there was no convergence of taste between fries and garlic -- they were two entirely separate entities and GROSS.
I've only been in Menlo Park for a few months and I'm trying to test out all the local spots. Jeffrey's gives the whole city a bad name in food.

Great place to go if you and the family are in the mood for burgers. You get to apply your own toppings from a wide selection at the toppings counter, resulting in a substantial and delicious burger. I was left licking the plate and stealing leftovers from the plate next to mine.
Quality burgers; good clean atmosphere and efficient service. Take the kids, you won't go wrong here.
Consistently good. The waitstaff are excellent and the burgers are good. Love to go here at the end of a long week with friends to just relax and enjoy some comfort food. Good with our young baby also - Recommend!
We're vegetarians and this burger joint is our favorite place to eat in town.
Great burger joint food, including veggie burgers, grilled cheese and salads. Best onion rings around. Limited but good beer selection. Awesome place to take the kids. Clean, fast and friendly.
Cost half as much as The Counter, and I like everything better.
great place to take the kiddies after a soccer/baseball game... it's cheap, it's fast, it's loud, and it's goooooood!! plus u can grab all the dill pickles that u can eat & the chili chees fries are an excellent substitute to plain old french fries... plenty of parking in the back, but beware when it's packed... it's PACKED!!
It's like Chucky Cheese without all the balls. There are so many freaking kids running around that place it's insane. I steer clear during the weekdays around 6 cause it's crazy as hell , I've seen waiter drop people's orders of all the obvious children running around. You will damn overpopulation after dinning there on Thursday night after Peewee soccer practice. However....
The burgers are good and I like that you can ordered half onion rings and half fries. I'm not so keen on the toppings area , I mean how hard is it to throw some pickles and onion on a burger ..? The milkshakes are yummy and the decor is great. I still go there when I get baby fever and I leave full , knowing I'm sooo not ready to be mom. I'd rather sulk at the Counter.

Well, I had my first Jeffrey Burger and it was good. The meat was excellent and the fact that you can pile on all the lettuce, tomato and onions was a huge plus. I'm big on price and thought it was a tad steep for what you get. The onion rings were the kind you get from Sysco. I would love to find a place that actually serves onion rings that were dipped in a beer batter! I had their soup of the day which was chicken vegetable. The soup was tasty but I didn't care for the chunks of dried chicken that accompanied it. I believe chicken in soup is better either shredded or in slivers as opposed to big dry chunks.
I have to give the service 5 stars as they were quick to come by and clear your table of any excess debris. Of course, it's a way of getting you in and out in a hurry to cycle in new customers. To be honest with you, I've heard so much about this place that I was basically expecting more. I definitely prefer Dutch Goose on the Alameda compared to this place.
I looooooooooove this place, it's my #1 pick for lunch, even if that means we have to go there multiple times a week.
+ short walk from my work
+ they always make sure to find our lunch group a table, be that 3 or 8 people.
+ huge yummy milkshakes!
+ delicious gardenburgers with swiss and avacado.. MMmmm, I want to go back for more!
Pluses: I've never seen a dirty table here. Staff is on point. Food is generally pretty quick.
Minuses: Garlic fries are overpowering - def avoid on a date. Burgers are okay but nothing special.
*meh* Met up with an out of town friend and we headed here since it was close by. I've never been but have wanted to try the place to see if it's worth sticking around in MP since almost every restaurant that's been on this corner has failed.
I was surprised by the interior. It's like a chic 50's diner with the modern and sleek lights hanging from the ceiling and then there's the 50's regalia on the walls. And I can't get over that the place is so pristine! The tables or floor aren't sticky, the chairs don't have any toppings on it...pristine.
I know it's a burger joint but I ordered the pineapple teriyaki turkey burger because it sounded good. We also got an order of onion rings and their garlic fries. Once the basket of garlic fries landed on our table, the waft of garlic hit my nose and I jumped in to try a fry.
Here are my thoughts:
-pineapple teriyaki turkey burger: nice toasted bun but the turkey patty (and I guess the meat patties as well) lacked taste and was bland. Thank goodness for the pineapple and the teriyaki sauce that added some taste to the burger. I didn't add any toppings since the turkey burger looked well saturated with sauce.
-garlic fries: couldn't taste the Parmesan cheese due to the garlic which was a good amount (same amount as Gordon Biersch's garlic fries). The fries were okay, they soon became soggy after a half hour or so.
-onion rings: batter too thick and over fried, I'd skip this even if you're craving onion rings.
For a good burger fix and that includes "gourmet" burger fix, I would still head on over to In-N-Out for consistent quality and a great price.

If I ever have to come to Jeffrey's again I will only be ordering onion rings and a vanilla milkshake.
Jeffrey's is a culmination of a 50s diner and Kirk's. They have various burgers to choose from and a condiment bar on the side complete with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and onions (Kirk's) plus they have fish&chips, hot dogs, and salads on the menu (50s diner). The condiment bar also has mustard and mayonnaise. Ketchup and malt vinegar are provided on each table, but there was no BBQ sauce in sight.
The motif is that of my previously mentioned 50s diner, red vinyl booths and chairs, fake gray granite tabletops.
Service is very fast, very efficient, the moment you finish your plate or drink a guy will ask if he can take it away for you. If you make a mess on the table like I did they will also clean this up for you right away.
The burgers are just burgers. They don't taste like anything out of the ordinary yet you're forced to pay high prices to keep the maintenance on that condiment bar up.
The shakes are made from real ice cream. You get a glass full and a stainless steel cup almost completely full of more shake. You can actually see the texture of the ice cream in the shake- they're just thick enough. They come with whipped cream all over the top and a maraschino cherry.
Don't get a cheeseburger or any burger with cheese!!!! The cheese is reminiscent of cheese wiz or velvetta, very slimy and not meant for adults.

It's just a burger peoples! And a really expensive and really bland one at that.
I'll take In-N-Out any day. Or even a Carl's Jr. six dollar burger. But not McDonald's burgers. I'd still take Jeffrey's over McDonald's. But that's not really a compliment though.
I guess the unique aspect of this place is that you can "customize" your burger at the condiments bar with "special" condiments such as lettuce, tomatoes, onions, ketchup, mayo, and mustard. Wow.... what a great selection of condiments.
Congratulations people, you just paid 8 dollars or so to make your own burger. All Jeffrey's did was grill up a super bland patty for you.
