Review from Terry T.
We stopped here twice on a road trip along old route 66, once at the beginning of our trip and again on the way home. I enjoyed the real, not faked, diner and truck stop vibe at this restaurant. It's filled with both RT 66 memorabilia and trucker information. There is also a gift shop. The tables have joke books and a peg game that isn't as easy has it looks. I suspect the game was one of the reasons we stopped the 2nd time. L won the game the first time, and K and I wanted to see if we could win too.
They claim they have the best food on Route 66, I'm not sure if that claim is true or not; 66 is a long highway. I do agree that the food is really good. In fact the BLT had the best bacon I've had in a long time. I was sorry I only had the 1/2 sandwich with a salad rather than a whole sandwich. I kept thinking about it for days. We stopped again on the way back and this time I had an open face meatloaf sandwich. The meatloaf, potatoes, and bread were covered with wonderful brown gravy, and the meatloaf was on bread that had been perfectly grilled. I think I ate all the bread, but try as I might, I could not clean my plate. Our server was concerned that I did not like it; that wasn't the case, the portions were huge and I could never have eaten all of it.
The service was friendly and fast. The prices were very resonableListed in: Route 66

Food was solid and good, geared towards travelers. I enjoyed their pot roast sandwich while Dad like his California burger. Coffee was disappointing though.

10 years of my business..never again..I have been coming here for years before the Laughin River Run and while I was not bouncing off the walls with the service or food, it was adequate.
Service Sucked. My family and I waited for almost 45 min for the all you can eat fish, meat loaf, clam chowder. My daughters clam chowder was cold, the meat loaf, please, the mashed potatoes sticky and gooey. I was on the verge of walking out when I observed three tables arrive behind us, order, eat, pay and leave before we even received our food. Hmmmm I don't want to assume it was because I had an African American family? I will just hope not. When I ordered more fish, guess what..THEY FORGOT to make them...I quit..got up and we left, my daughter could not eat her food, the wife gave up on the meat loaf..the cold fish, forget it. As I was telling the cashier we were done, I needed a bill the server showed up with a basket of fish, saying they had messed up and made my order all over again..
They were not busy, they had maybe 4 tables during our visit. What did we get for our troubles..nothing, to bad, so sad..see ya..so we paid, and they have lost all of our business in the future..and I will pass along my concerns about my suspicions..
The Juicy diner across the street has my business, see my review -

Second time here. Service was fast and attentive, but the top of my table was very sticky and the green beans were straight out of the can. The soda quantities were extra large, which was nice. The apple pie was average. The overall feel of the place is of a down-at-the-heels Route 66 diner.

This restaurant was featured in my copy of "EZ 66 Guide For Travelers". It was our first food stop on Route 66 headed from Los Angeles to New Orleans and was a pleasnt surprise.
The service was good, the food was delicious and the portions were huge. Just makesure you go on an empty stomach. -

Came in here while driving across country and looking for a decent eating place in Needles for dinner. This place was definitely worth the stop with good food, friendly (even flirty waitresses) and funny memorabilia hanging around the shop.
Not the most overwhelming dinner selection. My dad ordered a chef's salad & I had Chicken Strips Dinner and everything came out good.
There are some interesting customers passing through and they have a great gift shop selling a wide swath of Route 66 memorabilia. -

If you're looking for a great brunch, come to this place. Service is superb and the grub will satisfy just as well. We loved the food and service! He ate hamburger steak and eggs and I had a ham and egg breakfast burrito. My grub was tasty and the service was great too. In addition it's a cool tourist stop as they have a shop to buy souvenirs mostly with the Route 66 theme. This place is decored with Route 66 theme and the booths there have some funny books you can read. We sat on the counter hence didn't get to read any of them. Overall, this place is catered to the tourist crowd and to locals who want a good bite to eat.
Yes you are in a town practically in the boonies and it's a nice change from the LA trendy and chain places that litter all over there. If we should ever end up in Needles again, we will make a pit stop there!
UPDATE AUG 2011:
We had breakfast there this morning and it was mackin good. He got a turkey sausage skillet and I had one of their signature omelettes with a dab of chili. So darn good! It's not often we get a good breakfast especially if you're from our neck of the woods where all you get are chain places and places you wonder why they are still open. We'll be back for more next time around! -

Can you say diamond in the rough?! Needles isn't exactly a town we have ever considered for lunch. We either eat in Havasu or Barstow but this time our timing was way off so we didn't have a choice. I was kind of nervous!
Jedro's was soooooooo good! It's your typical diner fare, but homemade and thoughtfully prepared. I had a pot roast sandwich with deliciously flavored tender pot roast. My husband had a great hamburger with fresh bacon (I hate when places use leftover bacon from the morning) and the kids had a burger and peanut butter and jelly. We also ordered a fantastic looking and tasting side salad with homemade ranch :)
Service was friendly and prompt. The prices fit the food. Some may say they are a little high, but I didn't even flinch because we totally got what we paid for. -

The service and food was wonderful! We were driving back from Arizona and I knew Needles was the last chance to find decent food. I had a nasty cold and couldn't stand the thought of a drive thru window again. I used my iPhone Yelp ap to find the Wagon Wheel and it was ... absolutely great!
The meatloaf sandwich was fantastic just as other yelpers described. Our waitress was darn cute and treated us like her own grandchildren.
And to top it all off... When I tried to purchase some nyquil for my cold in their gift shop the waitress GAVE it to me instead. I was pretty miserable and her sincere care was pretty sweet. Now... Maybe management wouldn't approve of that give-away but she secured my family as a lifetime customer. -

Who knew?!
I've been driving by this place for the past 15 years and never noticed it.
I guess we don't normally stop in Needles for anything!
Glad we finally stopped!
Huge menu with a ton of breakfast choices served all day long.
I had a bacon, egg & cheese breakfast burrito. It was great!
Service was good. The place has a lot of character with cool local pics covering the walls.
A flat screen TV playing CNN News was a nice touch while eating breakfast.
Definitely some interesting people watchin at this place.
The funky gift shop was good for a quick browse and smile! -

we ate dinner here while staying overnight in Needles. It's a cross between a Cracker Barrel and a greasy spoon trucker stop. Be sure to get the coffee!! I think this is the best coffee on the west coast! I ordered the chicken friend steak and mashed potatoes. The chicken fried steak was good, but different from what I'm used to. The breading was just a little lighter than what I usually expect. But the potatoes and green beans that accompanied it were fine. The service was wonderful - attentive but not in-your-face. Always coming back to refill my husband's soda or top off my coffee. We'll be sure to stop in again when we pass through.

Review from Gina Q.
This is a great breakfast place. But that's probably because it's part of a truckstop. The cool thing about the Wagon Wheel when you enter this log cabinesque building, is a wall full of trucker's destinations and the distance to them. I found my hometown on there. I think it said from Needles to Spokane was just over 1,000 miles.
This is a very casual kind of place. It's a no frills restaurant but does have a flat screen LCD TV for viewing CNN while dining. The meals are basic and plentiful. The prices range from very cheap to moderate. For instance, you can get a plate of biscuits (2) and gravy and a cup of coffee for only $5. If you want sausage, bacon, or any other kind of breakfast meat, that will definitely up your bill to just over $8.
I went with the cajun sausage and eggs plate. It came with my choice of hasbrowns, home fries, or grits along with toast or biscuit (that is served with gravy but you can ask them for just plain butter if you want). This is a lot of food, which I gladly scarfed down. I was hungry and this hit the spot. The rest of the table ordered the biscuits and gravy or bacon with eggs.
The next time I'll have to ask for the egg substitute like Megan B. noted in her review. I didn't realize you could request that, but now I know and will have to remember.
I'd also like to try their lunch and dinner menu another time. They offer up burgers, sandwiches, and hot sandwiches (like monte cristos, grilled cheese, melts, philly steak, etc.). Their dinner selections range from fried appetizers to full course meals like meatloaf, chicken fried steak, ribs, etc. to steaks, soup/chili, salads, mexican food, and two "waistliner plates." Heck, this place even has a salad bar. I'm curious to see what that looks like.
At least this gives you a good idea of the small town kind of comfort food you can get at this place. Oh, and don't forget to take away with you their complimentary collector's menu where you can find local services like life coaches or real estate agents. :p
If you're on Route 66 or heading through town on I-40, this is worth a stop to rest your weary eyes from driving and eat a hot, decent meal. -

I would definitely stop here next time through. The food was very good. My chicken fried steak was one of the better ones because it didn't have inch thick impenetrable breading on it. My husband's pot roast sandwich was great! I really can't say how my daughter's food was, as it was inhaled by the time I turned around to ask her a question. They also served us ice tea, soda and water in huge glasses. Believe me, after that desert heat, a glass that size is a necessity.
The service was friendly too. They also have a kitschy Route 66 gift shop for those so inclined to buy their very own jackalope. -

average diner food at best, weird service. we went for dinner at 8:45 pm and the employees were acting like it was closing time- no music, hurried service- even though they don't close till 10pm. great apple pie, though.

I wanted a nice old-school Route 66 diner to stop at for my Grand Canyon trip last weekend. My appetite woke up in Needles, and the Wagon Wheel's kitsch Old West retro exterior was exactly what I needed.
I sat at the bar and enjoyed a classic diner plate of Huevos Rancheros, and fresh coffee: a tasty road breakfast that held me over 'til dinner. The staff were friendly and attentive, with different folks stopping to offer more coffee as they passed on their way to other tasks. The crowd included more locals than tourists like me on a Friday morning. -

We were on our way from LA to Williams, AZ... after about 3 hours it was time to look for a place to eat. Again the Yelp app. on my Iphone came in pretty handy and Jedro's Wagon Wheel Restaurant was hot on Yelp!
It was around 3:00 pm LA time and 4:00 pm AZ time...we ordered a Mega Skillet and the Big Mess Omelet, good size plates and the ideal meal for 2 hungry travelers.
Jedro's Wagon Wheel Restaurant is a great place to take a pit stop traveling the I-40, the service is great and the meals are tasty of good size and the bill at the end is not bad at all. The setting is almost as if you just parked your wagon and 2 horses and came in from a 16 hour ride through the the Mojave dessert, only the tv reminds you that you are in the 21st Century.
I would return for sure, however my eyes saw another restaurant across the street and I am planning on my way back to check it out. -

Wow, what a great, family friendly place!
Wow. What a great family friendly place and GREAT food. The chicken fried steak and eggs, with biscuit and gravy are as good as you will find. Great service too!
The owner came to our table and gave all our kids quarters to ride the mechanical horse. I wish we had a place like this in Orange County!! -

All egg dishes be made with healthy egg alternative-- quite progressive for a place that looks like this!
I love their Huevos Rancheros and a big unsweetened iced tea.Listed in: Route 66

It's really nice when you come across a nice place like this in the middle of nowhere. Now, when you go to a new place and go to a restaurant there, it's not always easy to tell if you love the place or not -- food aside, it's difficult to get a sense of the restaurant's vibe.
This place? You'll love. There's nothing really special about this place, but you can tell that the folks running the place love what they're doing. Everyone there seemed happy.
The food? Yes, pretty good. I had the Wagon Wheel Omelette (beans and chili and cheddar, with onions). Right portion and darn good. The home fries were yum. My friend had a tuna melt, and potato salad as side -- was good.
They also have a shop that sells typical Route 66 souvenirs, maps, books, etc.
If you're on route 66 or close to Needles, you better go here! -

I thought the food was yucky. I had a grilled cheese sandwich and it was just gross. The decor is amusing and you probably won't find better food unless you go to an In-N-Out so I suppose I can recommend a visit. If you're desperate.

Chula Vista, CA
Being from the little town just across the river from Needles CA I grew up coming to small business restaurants. I can say this place most definitely has a great price range and although it is a diner atmosphere the people here are just amazing to talk with. Nothing beats a small little place to visit while passing through on the I-40 in hopes of returning back to our homes. Instead of stopping by a fast food place stop in here for a nice hamburger stop in for some wonderful home cooked food that hits the spot!

Stopped in for dinner. Absolutely great selection of menu items. Food was just ok, nothing out of the ordinary but this is probably the best restaurant i needles. Service was fantastic. If the timing was right we would stop here again.

Its a diner. A very competent one, but a diner nonetheless.
I have to admit, though, that the food is yummy, especially for the price. I had the pork cutlet with mashed potatoes which came with a white gravy. All of it was good. -

Stopped by here for a meal on my way to the Grand Canyon. Great home cooking. It was so good we went back on our way home. I had the pot roast melt the first time around...it was delicious! I had the chicken fried steak on the way back, which was a bit disappointing, but I'm not a chicken fried steak fan. A friend that had the chicken fried steak thought it was great.
Service was great. -

Los Angeles, CA
This place is a good place to stop for diner breakfast, with a hearty pancakes, biscuits, and omelettes kind of menu.
But the really great thing about the Wagon Wheel is the atmosphere. It's a real trucker and biker stop - we were the only tourists in the place and surrounded by all these huge mostly male customers, we felt like anyone could snap us like a twig.
But it wasn't intimidating. We felt welcome and comfortable in the friendly atmosphere. Our waitress was super-friendly and didn't even blink an eye when my husband asked her to find out if the biscuits were made with Crisco or lard. (Crisco, it turns out, so veggie friendly).
Plus, there's a cute little shop next door which will serve all of your Route 66 memorabilia needs. -

Good but not thrilling food, good prices, and old fashioned service - our waitress wasn't forced happy like at chains, but she sure knew her job and did it well. I wish more places had waitstaff like here.
