Jeana is awesome! I foster dogs for a local rescue and she has been kind enough to donate a grooming for my foster dog. He was not an easy customer in the least but she handled him beautifully. Now, because of Jeana I can advertise a handsome freshly groomed dog instead of the scraggly one who had never been groomed! He looks great, smells great, and most importantly, feels great. She also took the time to help me understand his issues and needs and gave me advice on the type of family I should look for for him.
There are a few negative reviews of Jeana on here which I disagree with. In my experience she is the most talented groomer I have ever taken a dog too, not only on the cutting side, but in the way she handles the dogs. If you have a nervous or skittish dog you should take them to her, she makes them comfortable and not stressed.
I think Jeana is a dog person and that is her priority (she does groom cats too). For the negative reviewers, she focuses on what is important (the animals) and sometimes may not have time to cater to the people who own them. For a dog groomer she definitely has her priorities straight. I look forward to having my own dog grooomed by Jeana! -

Horrible. Horrible. Horrible. Did I say horrible? I have taken a friend's dog here several times. The grooming always seemed adequate but nothing amazing. But the personality of the owner is lousy. I have never been greeted in a friendly way. And I have always gotten nasty,
very unprofessional comments from this business owner. She always seems to be in a rush and avoids answering questions. My friend has a busy work schedule so I always helped by bringing her dog there. But I refuse to step foot in there again. Last time I called to schedule an appt, she sounded annoyed and said she was too busy & to just send an email. WTF? Very nasty. Very unprofessional. Too expensive. And my friend's dog always seemed nervous in there. Dogs are the best judges of character, as the saying goes. I truly am surprised she still has the establishment with a personality like that! -

Here's the story that says it all about Jeana. My poodle, Lucy, was groomed by Jeana from the time she was 3 through the last days of her life -- she died at almost 18. While many groomers refuse to groom a very elderly dog, because it requires time, special skills and patience, Jeana made Lucy beautiful every time. This resulted in the kind of "oohs" and "aahs" and petting from literally everyone that dogs in late life thrive on. People were always glad to see Lucy, and had a moment to let her know she was special. Do you think this happens to elderly dogs whose families have given up on maintaining them? I don't. Lucy had her last appointment with Jeana about 5 days before she died -- all the techs at Angell Memorial petted her clean fluffy curls, and afterwards, the doctor wrote to me that she she had never seen such a beautifully cared for dog who had also lived so long.
Jeana is a tremendous ally for the health and beauty of your dog, a superb handler, a brilliant groomer, and, when things get tough, your dog's fast friend. The salon is pleasant, light, well-located and ultra-sanitary. Zero risk of kennel cough here! I have a new poodle puppy now, and Jeana has helped me with weight control for her, safe toy selection, and some formidable grooming challenges that necessitated a little creativity, shall we say. There are lots of groomers out there -- none of them can touch Jeana. -

Poor customer service, they did not groom him like we asked and it was the WORST our dog had ever looked after a grooming. To add insult to injury, it was the most we have ever paid for a grooming (about $30 more than average)!!!
We live across the street, but I will never take him there again! -

After a really bad dog-beard experience with a chain store's "groomer" (parenthesized since I really think the "groomer" was in fact a carnie), I was desperate to find an independent groomer close to my house.
I am completely 100% satisfied with my two dogs' outcomes. They look fabulous, smell great, and seemed to have a really good time at Jeana's because they were able to socialize with other dogs. I guess I can understand the unhappy yelper's low rating due to an unfortunate accident, but it sounds like it was an accident and nothing more. I think Jeana's pretty darn cool, and other yelpers shouldn't be scared off because of what sounds like a one-time occurrence.
Let me put it to you this way: My dogs HATE getting groomed, and they high-tail it out of any place where their hair gets brushed. At Jeana's, they wanted to stay, and I had to pull them out of the door. I think my dogs are happy that we've booked their appointments out 3 months in advance.Listed in: What's up, b*tches?

Yes, there is a "Jeana" at Jeana's Dirty Dog, and she's awesome. I have two mongrel-like creatures who seem to locate the nearest swamp within seconds (I didn't even train them to do that), and Jeana and company handle them with aplomb - even if the bigger of the two gets cranky about being there.
Jeana has been dealing with my various canine companions for about 10 years. (Good lord, is that possible??) The grooming is perfect every time, and the shampoos are not foofy or smelly...your dog comes back smelling like a dog (albeit a clean, groomed dog).
Best part of the deal? You get freedom from Man's Best Friends for a whole day... (insert sigh of relief here). -

Jeana is the BEST. She had been taking care of my dogs (American Eskimos) for about 13 years. My first two, male and female (died five years ago at ages 15 and 12 respectively) were quite a hand ful, especially the male, but Jeanna was just great with them.
I now have a four year old male whom she has been grooming all four years and Max loves and respects Jeana. She has been in the business for many years and really knows how to deal with dogs of any temperament and does a first rate job of grooming.
As for price, Jeana is very reasonable and being someone in the personal care industry myself some people just cannot sink their teeth (no pun intended) into the fact that skilled professionals who are focused on doing the best job possible deserve the respect for whatever they charge. You just cannot beat the price for personal caring service. -

Two words: Stay away. Like another one-star reviewer of Jeana's Dirty Dog Salon, this is my first Yelp review, and I too felt the need to write this because we had such a bad grooming experience.
We brought our dog in early this morning, and were told that we'd be called with any questions. I heard nothing from Jeana until almost the end of the day, when she called to tell me that our dog need a close cut because she had bad mats (not true!). She ended up shaving our dog (who looks completely ridiculous) and tried to cover by saying that the shave was an acceptable "puppy cut". She still charged us the full rate (a very expensive $70) for a simple, ugly shave.
When we complained, she was unapologetic and extremely rude and defensive. When we questioned the expensive fee for a simple shave (which we hadn't wanted in the first place), she said that she can set the price she wants because of her professional grooming experience. Not once did she seem apologetic about giving a terrible and unnecessary cut and charging full fee for it. She instead implied that we were bad dog owners for questioning her.
Jeana may be a skilled groomer (though we have yet to see a good cut from her for our dog!), but interpersonal relations are terrible. Don't go here if you want a groomer who will listen to you or treat you with respect. There are many other groomers out there who charge less, aren't so rude, and can do as good - or better - of a job. -

I've taken my little Yorkie here once before - and Dirty Dog got about a 6/10. I asked for a nail trim and a trimming around the face/ears, and when I picked him up, his nails were still long as all hell and the only grooming on his face was his "bangs." *Sigh* at least my pups could see clearly again and he smelled nice.
I wanted to go back. Why, given a 6/10? Jeana was really nice, and while I wasn't exactly happy with the groom job - I loved the feel of the shop. It is also one of the few highly-rated grooming shops in the area.
But then.... I called a week ago to try to schedule an appt. No answer. Left a message - hoping, praying that there might be a spot for my little Yorkie in time for Thanksgiving. No call back. I am persistent so I call again the next day... no answer. I am now embarrassed about my stalking tendencies - esp. for a 6/10 job-- so I don't leave a message. This ensues for 3 more days.
I called again today. Hallelujah - a pick up!! I actually spoke to a live, talking human being. But then it all came crashing down as she (Jeana?) *glibly* tells me: "we are not accepting appointments until Dec. 16, 17, or 18." Whoa there Nelly.
I can't call again. I won't. Not for 6/10. Not for yet another rejection. Bye Dirty Dogs... it's been real.Comment from Jeana W. of Jeana's Dirty Dog Salon 8/9/2010

Jeana's great. She does a great job with our two dogs for cleaning and cutting, really seems to care about them and is nice to us too. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed with the dogs socializing nicely behind the counter. Both dogs are very happy after a day there, look and smell great. Ask about Jeana's allergy reduction rinse that we have had done a few times prior to friends visiting who have pet allergies with good results.

Jeana is the best groomer ever. She groomed my beautiful Lhasa for almost 17 years. This dog had several bad experiences with other groomers - at our first appt. Jeana got down on the floor and coaxed my dog into her arms. They had a great bond together. I now live outside Cambridge with another dog, but I still make the trip to her shop in Cambridge because I trust Jeana completely. I wouldn't go anywhere else. You know you have a trustworthy groomer when she grooms the dogs in the front room, right smack in front of her picture window! My dogs have looked excellent every time, and you know they have a good time romping around on the floor with other dogs rather than be in a cage for hours. I can't say enough good things about Jeana, I am so grateful for this groomer who knows her stuff, and I agree with the other yelper, Jean's pretty cool too!

I took my dog here a few times and wow, did she look amazing. Like show-quality good. Jeana is VERY talented at grooming.
At dealing with people and the dogs. Not so much. I wish this were not the case, did I mention how fabulous my dog looked? But she also seemed terrorized upon picking her up. It was not a happy experience for her, and I figured it out upon picking her up one time...I went in to get her and Jeana greets me and I explain that I'm there to pick up my dog. At this point my girl is excited to see me and wiggles and shakes the little bow right off her head! Whatever, the bow is a nice touch for the humans but obviously my dog was not into it right then. Jeana proceeds to chase her around to get the bow back into her hair and my dog shrinks away from her - I'm like "No, no - don't worry about it." She still persists so I offer to get my pup and hold her so that the bow can be inserted and at least she has a little comfort instead of feeling chased and cornered. No! She insists on capturing her and doing it herself. Now wonder my dog seemed terrorized the times I took her there. I was so enamored with the result that I may have missed the signs. Bad mommy. :(
Anyway, if all you care about is the result, Jeana will deliver! Excellent grooming skills. If you want a happy dog, Jeana may not deliver. Oh, I should add, my dog was literally just a puppy - her first groomings were done there. She was untainted by previous experiences so her reaction was clearly to the experience there. -

I first want to give credit where credit is deserved. Jeana is the best groomer out there as far as her skill. My dog never looked better and I was happy with the result every time. However, I have sadly had to break up with Jeana because I could no longer take her personality and lack of professionalism. My husband watched her berate a customer who was obviously not the dog-owner, but likely the housekeeper running an errand for her employer. That is just classless and lousy. Jeana cancelled an appointment of mine without contacting me. I had to come to the salon to find a sign on the door that she was closed. My kids were late for school and I was late for work. This happened twice. That was the last straw for me. Although I am sad that no groomer comes close to her skill, I just could not morally give her my money (and she certainly charges on the much higher end!) and look the other way while she treats others like they are beneath her. No way to run a service business. I also want to say I am writing this review almost 6 months after the last time I went to Jeana, purposely to give myself time to have perspective before reviewing.

I brought my spoiled rotten kittens here to get pampered and groomed, and to get their nails cut because I was scared to do it. This was right after I adopted them, they were tiny babies, and Jeana's was great. I dropped my babies off and picked them up 2 hours later - they were fluffed out and happy as can be. She had stored them (in their carrier) in sort of a drawer - which was good because they would have been petrified by the dogs in there. I wasn't sure when I would be able to pick them up, and one of Jeana's assistants offered to drive them home for me! The next time I brought them in to get their nails trimmed, they even showed me how to do it myself, so I didn't need to spend the money. They are a bit disorganzied - which in this case I don't mind - they care more about taking care of the animal customers then taking care of their people customers, so they didn't take too much time talking to me, instead, tending to the dogs they were grooming. That's fine with me! And my kittens weren't scared the next time I brought them back, so while I'm sure getting bathed wasn't their favorite thing, they obviously didn't have an awful experience.

Hmmm........a pet as a commodity?
