What a strange experience it was, dining at the JCC Cafe.
- the setup is essentially a grouping of tables in the middle of a lobby area
- in spite of the casual atmosphere, they prefer you make a reservation
- the service is prompt, efficient, and functionally good overall, but the staff's attitude of "oh great, yet more people to wait on..." needs a serious adjustment
- the closing time is listed as being 8 PM, but we watched a server turning people away at 7:25 saying the cafe was closed. Then at 7:40 we watched the same server seating and serving another couple. Um, what?
- Pricey! $11 for a burger with fries, $18+ for a roasted chicken breast meal
- it doesn't look like they serve juice or soft drinks. Just water with the meal.
All that said, the food was pretty good, no complaints there - especially for kosher food. However, the overall experience was kind of odd and awkward, so I think I'll be sticking with Eli's for dining with my kosher-keeping sister.
The JCC cafe is "closed until further notice".
