I've only had my french nails done here by Jenny and Cathy.  They are both sooOO good and my nails come out perfect each time, and stay that way for 3-4 weeks.

I found out that Jenny no longer works there!!  Where did she go?!  I need her!!!  If anyone knows where Jenny went, please send me a message.

JC nails, what can I say? They are my go to place for my full sets, pedi's & waxings :)

I normally have my nails done my Tina or Cathy and my brow's are normally done by Tina, but with my pedicures I'm not picky at all. They always do a great job and I never have any complaints.

JC is a normal asian owned nail salon/hair salon/spa and of course you may have them push other services but they do know their limit. It is a little on the pricier side compared to hole in the wall salons, but you do get what you pay for. You can't go wrong with a regular mani/pedi and their pink and whites, and if you're feeling a little more adventurous you should try their crystal gel colored tips.

A great plus as well is that it is located near one of my favorite coffee shops the bean scene! :)

Efficient and inexpensive.  I've gone to JC Salon since they moved from the Sunnyvale Mall to the corner of Murphy and Washington.  English is not the first language of the majority of workers, so they seem to prefer to chat amongst themselves.

The ladies do the basic job at a good price, but you don't feel pampered or special.  I've paid twice as much and more for the same services, manicure and pedicure, and you can definitely tell the difference.  I get the impression the salon makes their money from high volume versus providing luxury service.  They seem to want get you in and out as quickly as possible, regardless of how uncomfortable you are during the process or whether or not you want to rush.

JC Salon is fine if you want a break from grooming yourself or you need an occasional professional tune up.  But don't expect a relaxing or refreshing experience you expect from a "spa".

I appreciate the spacious and airy main area because I tend to feel claustrophobic in many low ceiling, mom and pop type stores.  The polished wood everywhere counteracts the chemically smells.

I recommend JC Salon as good enough.  You can either call ahead for an appointment or take your chances by dropping in.  Just know what you are getting in for.

Edit: those are my lashes in the photos

Edit 2: I've had these lashes for 3 and a half weeks and they have thinned out but still look pretty darned good. I am very happy with them and made an appointment for a touchup next week. I highly recommend this salon!  I think if you got a set of lashes where each individual lash was not extended then you would need touchups in 2 weeks.  Cathy at JC put an extension on every single one of my lashes which is why they are still looking good after all this time.
____________________________________________
Salons bring out the gossipy nasty in me, but JC was pretty nice and I didn't feel catty nor did anyone get catty on me.

I got the eyelash extensions. Honestly I wouldn't have based on the Yelp reviews but I was a walk in customer after having dinner at Dishdash. I walked in, asked a couple questions IN ENGLISH and they were answered IN ENGLISH - seriously I think some people have an instant bias against Vietnamese salon workers before even trying to speak with them. I made an appointment and left a deposit (they require $50 deposit for the full set but not for the touchups).

Came back and Cathy was ready for me on time. The salon itself was nice and clean and they have maybe 8 mani stations and another 8 pedi stations. They do shampoo and style there and maybe haircuts too.

The treatment room has a lot of stuff in there because they do facials, waxing, the lashes, etc all in that room so it seemed a little cluttered. It was clean though. The bed had a plastic cover and then a cloth on top of that. I didn't find it to be uncomfortable which is good because a full set takes 2 hours.

Cathy gave me some choices as to what kind of lashes I wanted and did I want them really long or more natural. I asked for more natural.

Cathy spoke with me a little bit but didn't encourage me to talk too much once we got started because if I move it makes the appointment take longer. But in between working on the left and right sides she made conversation. It was a nice experience.

I could hear customers coming in for other services and the other employees were speaking English to them too and they really didn't speak Vietnamese to each other once the salon filled up. I don't think this is really that much of a gossipy place, but then I was only there for 2 hours.

The glue must be really strong because the fumes made my eyes water a little bit though I am pretty sensitive so for a normal person it probably wouldn't be a huge bother. When the treatment was over my eyes were fine - didn't turn red or anything.

The end result is very pretty and natural. She gave me a paper with instructions on how to care for the lashes so they last as long as possible and she said that touchups are required monthly and shouldn't be needed sooner than that.

I have no qualms about going back to JC for eyelash touchups and if I lived closer I'd totally go there for pedis too.

I'm saving the last star until I can be sure the lashes last as long as Cathy said they would.

Let me repeat "...touchups are required monthly and shouldn't be needed sooner than that."

Cost of full set of lashes was $200. Touchups are ~$50 depending on what you call a touchup. Like if you show up 8 weeks later with three eyelashes on one side and a dozen on the other expect it to be more than $50.

I've been going to JC Salon now for several months. I always see Jenny for my Gel French nails and pedi. She is very thorough and precise. I have been getting my nails done on and off for several years and have been to dozens of shops between Sydney, South Bay to San Diego and have never ever been so pleased until now. After Jenny finished my new set, I was shocked. I was amazed, finally someone listened to what I wanted... and never attempted to tell me what they thought I wanted or give me the opposite of what I asked for. I think I was in a daze for a few weeks after. OMIG!! The compliments poured in- not only from women but men too! Can you believe that! Anyhow, I told Jenny, if I moved or if she moved we would have to keep in touch because I would not hesitate to drive hours for her to do my nails.

As for some of the reviews on this site- about not being clean or being nasty. I disagree. This place is clean and organized. It isn't run down or smelly like other shops in the area. It is located in a convenient spot in downtown Sunnyvale with plenty of parking near by. Yes some of the ladies speak very limited English. If you keep the conversation and questions very simple and basic- you'll get by and get what you ask for. As for the reading material, it's the same just about every salon you go to. If you don't like what they have, then be smart and bring your own material to read or better yet get an iPod and you don't have to listen to anybody speak Vietnamese. It all boils down to common sense. If you're a DIVA then go to Santana Row and get your nails, hair and supplies there.

I had my first pedicure a couple years ago, and became a "pedi-addict".  At first I thought I wouldn't like it (famous last words, huh? How many times have you said that to yourself?), because I am pretty ticklish. It is very relaxing, and even my horrible Flintstones feet look a little less hideous after a pedicure.  They rub your feet and your legs, and you sit in one of those massaging chairs and read cheesy magazines.  The people who work here are aways nice, and I like coming here b/c it's within walking distance to my house.

This place is NASTY.  Nasty, nasty, nasty.

I went to get my lashes done hear after my friend recommend this place.
However it was a horrible experience.

-I got the lash ext procedure done by the owner of the salon and they whole time she was talkin on the phone the entire 2 hrs in Vietnamese which annoyed the shit out of me.  On top of that she had some nasty breathe.

-the bed i was on was covered in plastice cover and since the Damn place didn't even have AC my skin kept sticking and i was sweating like a pig. I felt like i was in a sweatshop

-When i inquired about the products of the lashes she said " they just ship them..i dont know what kind of hair or brand it is"
WTH!

-She USED MASKING TAPE under my eyes!!! instead of under-eye-tape
Hella ghetto!

WORST Salon experience by far.
I would also have to agree this place is a Joke!

JC Salon Spa is a right on the corner of Murphy Ave facing the Macy's car park.  It's fairly pleasant inside, light & roomy hence it's managed to scrape one star but that's where the good stuff ends.

They have a large sign outside saying 'walk in's welcome' so in I went hoping they could fit me in for a quick eyebrow wax.  The receptionist, who seemed shocked to see me, couldn't speak a word of english...but after much hand gesturing and finally pointing out the service I wanted on the price list it looked like we were in business as she was now pointing at a chair in the reception area......Progress!

While I was waiting another lady came in who had already made an appointment & I was entertained by the ensuing confusion as she tried to make herself understood...finally pointing out her own name & appointment in the appointment book.  This cheered me up as I realized it wasn't just my stoopid accent that the receptionist couldn't understand.

After a short wait my waxer lady screamed 'you wa, you wa' from the back of the salon at me (the sum total of my conversation with her) so off I went into the teeny waxing room at the back, got waxed, paid & left without another word from anyone...not even Goodbye!
Next day I broke out around my entire eyebrow area and it took two weeks to clear up...I don't normally have sensitive skin so can only assume their wax is not up to scratch.
I didn't have any other treatments so only speak for the treatment from the staff & eyebrow wax itself ..Awful, Awful, I definitely won't be back.
