Absolutely the best coffee around. I'm thrilled to have them within walking distance, and that they are now open on Sundays. Yay!
Java J introduced me to the passionate subculture of "3rd-generation" coffee shops...and damn good coffee!
The amount of preparation and pride that the baristas undertake to produce a single cup is amazing, and altogether worth it. And for those who see coffee as simply "fuel," I think a cup from Java J will definitely change your attitude.
The atmosphere is relaxing, comfortable...and free Wi-Fi is always a plus (can you believe people actually pay for this at Starbucks?)
Only knock is the location, which isn't convenient for those who live/work outside of West Roseville, but the place is definitely a worthy destination.
A final plus: The owner and his employees taught me a good Coffee 101 for the beans that I take home...let's just say that I'll never use a Mr. Coffee again, haha...
I've never before described coffee as "beautiful," but that's exactly what it is here. The latte art is just a prelude to the goodness that lies beneath. Coffee here is oh so smooth.
It's a quaint atmosphere...small tables, warm classic decor. The menu is simple, and the coffee drinks allow you to appreciate the coffee itself. Flavorings complement the coffee...not the other way around.
Besides, everyone loves a good palindrome.
UPDATE: I'm not sure if it's on the menu, but try the spicy hot chocolate. A perfect blend of spicy richness.

Bottom Line: Treat yourself to some good coffee for once!
I have been looking for a good cappuccino for quite some time. JavaJ is the only place that has stepped up to the challenge.
Starbucks has consistently put our garbage...soap suds for foam, overcooked milk, horrible flavor.
Peets, whom I usually like a lot, did a better job on the foam, however the flavor was not so great, and it was too hot.
JavaJ shines through...not only is the milk and foam done to perfection, but you can actually taste hints of chocolate in the roast being used.
JavaJ has also changed my impression of coffee. The roasts made available from some of the previously mentioned chains are ok, but they have ruined the coffee's natural flavors. The selection of unique, high quality coffee at JavaJ is not only affordable but better than pretty much anything I have encountered before.
Try it, you will like it.

A coffee themed errand/ road trip brought me close enough to find J's yesterday. J was working the bar on a slow afternoon. I have never had such great service from a barista. This guy really cares about coffee. He pulled me three shots until he was satisfied with his pull.
He sets the bar higher.
It's too bad they are in Roseville. I mean look at the nearby businesses on the map.

i was astounded to find this place!
nestled in a non-descriptive strip mall somewhere in Roseville hell i came upon the delightful Java J on my way to a photo shoot. i was thrilled to find a non-Starbucks! don't be turned off by the no frills decor on the outside because you will be happily mesmerized with the contents of this coffee shop. to me, this is better than a coffee shop, it's a specialized tea and CHOCOLATE shop, where one can savour a PERFECT cup of TEA while chowing down delectable European chocolates.
i ordered some tea and had a seat. a few moments later i was presented with a kettle, a timer and a WARM CUP. where in Sacramento can you find tea served in a warm cup??? happy was my middle name!
these guys are serious about their tea and i thank them for existing. Java J is a husband and wife team who fell in love and married in Europe. they are lovely to be around and very, very knowledgeable about their trade.
it's a shame i can't go back anytime soon. who knows when i'll have another reason to go all the way out there in suburbia land.
