What makes a pretty day even more full of oomph and enough fire to light up the rest of my day?  A message from an ex loser who just can't seem to keep his virtual fingers to himself and sends it via Yelp AND through a bogus account.

Remember all those stories about dating hell?  How about stories from ex hell!

In order to keep rolling on the high from the evening before (Call of Duty 4, 5 hours straight) a vat of lattes throughout the day was my next form of relaxation.  Seeing that the weather was horrid, not to mention keeping out of the traffic from the 3-day, today was one of those days of avid laziness and wanton caffeinated pleasures:  Javacat lured us in.

First off, free wi-fi.  In addition, a decent drink menu with another larger menu consisting of breakfast, bagels, sandwiches, wraps and salads.  The prices range from $4.95 and increase according to the items selected.  I started off with a Chai Latte, which came out perfect with the small amount of froth on top and the Chai, spicy and sweet.  I also purchased a diet Snapple in order to stave off dehydration.

Nice row of tables and seating, not to mention outlets to ensure a live connection.  The lady behind the counter was nice, cheerful and quite helpful.  What can I say.  Free Wi-Fi.  Nice seating.  Decent drinks.  Computers/access available for a nominal fee if you are not with a laptop.  Easily a 5-star rating in my book of casual offee wanderings.

After finding a nice spot in front of the window, I am thinking of sitting here for a few more hours to watch people walk by in the SF chill and take a moment to profess to my friends that I'll take dating hell stories any day.  At least they were funny and at least, after playing Call of Duty 4, I think I'm better in the sniper engagements.

Dating Drunk texts.  Check.
Dating Drunk dials.  Check.
Idiot messages from the loser ex.  Uncheck.

Get a life.

Stopped by for a coffee on Sunday morning.  It was a nice day outside, but they kept their door closed...wow, it was a sauna inside.  Only one other customer inside, but as soon as I walked in, that person left.  Do they have a "only 1 customer at a time" rule??

Anyway, ordered coffee and wen to add cream...from the container labeled "CREAM", yet after 2 pours my coffee was still very dark.  I turned to the employee and asked "This milk?" She saying "Oh yeah, sorry we're all out of cream"  Not due to too many customers, I thought.

My coffee was now luke warm and not rather tasty.

Tried to sit down but the place was so hot inside...the chair I sat at was weird...looked comfortable but ended up being not at all!

Wow, Javacat, you really know how to do business!

Free wifi and free use of the computer terminals is always great, because it's hard to find a coffeehouse with that stuff.  So why the one star?

I ordered a slice of pumpkin pie with whipped cream.  Took some bites from it and thought, "Tastes stale."

I turn over the slice of pie, and it had  MOLD on the bottom of the crust.  Needless to say, I returned my slice for a full refund.  The guy at the counter was apologetic enough and offered me a slice of cheesecake, but I said, "Nope... not taking a chance."

Meh, I've experienced better. I try to avoid Starbucks for the usual pseudo-political correctness, but after having read here that the employees of JCC are paid in cash, and asking one if this was true (she said it was!) I'm of the opinion that Starbucks has one thing going for it: they pay their employees legal wages, social security, unemployment and so on (although they've been somewhat anti-union).

The illegal employment status of the employees explains something I've noticed as well: java cat is often closed during normal business hours often at random. Usually the closed status is early in the morning, sometimes it's just "odd holidays" (e.g. Mother's Day is was closed).

Don't plan on doing anything at JCC for this reason. If you see it open and feel like patronizing it, go for it. Otherwise, call first or go to Starbucks or wherever.

The food is ok, as in "not horrible", but cafe food is like bar food: overpriced and (usually) not great. Maybe BrainWash is an exception to the not great...?

The wireless has had odd password schemes (written down) and the last time I went I just used my cellular modem.

Wow these are some low reviews.

I didn't find Javacat Coffee to be that bad. Although I was only running in to get a cup of hot cocoa.

Their menu was big. They have bagels, PIZZA bagels, sandwiches, muffins, pies, salads, cookies, hot drinks, cold drinks, soda, fresh squeezed juice, and more.

There are computers there for you to use too but there's a  "NO DRINKS OR FOOD NEAR THE COMPUTERS" sign near it.

Thank you Javacat for the hot chocolate. It kept me warm this morning!

Seems like everyone else really hates this place.  I came over here from Royal Grounds nearby because RG's wifi was so slow as to be unusable.  JavaCat's is password protected, but it was easy to get it to work and the wifi was very fast and it is free.  (Costs money to use their computers if you don't have one.)

I don't know anything about the legality of this operation, but the counter guy was fine, made a good cup of iced tea.  Seating was comfy enough.  (Tables had a choice of regular hard chair or a lower, soft, round chair.)  There was free electricity and convenient locations throughout.  Good classical music playing.  Granted, there were no other customers, but I found that to be a nice respite from the hussle and bustle.

The only downside (and only reason this isn't 5 stars) is the lousy street parking in the area.

The coffee here actually tastes good. I have no problem with that. Its better than starbucks. Never bought food there. The settings is nice. The younger people who make coffee here are nice.

But one time tehre was this older lady who was making coffee. I bought a large coffee and sat down to drink it. I thought I'd eat some dim sum that I bought in a cafe a block away. I was eating them from a bag, didnt put it on the table or anything.  The lady tells me "Sir, there is no outside food here! We're a restaurant!" I said ok and left.

What a minor thing to bring up to a customer.

A very average cafe. The chai tea latte I ordered was incredibly bland and average. The barista was very nice though
Free wifi, secured though. Must order something and ask for the password.

My advice: Taste and flavor is a risk, but there's a chance it can be a plus/gain! Try it, Java Cat Coffee!

This is one of my Richmond stand-bys for study times.  Especially if I've got tons of reading to do since they have these great comfy chairs you can curl up in (well if you're small like me you can).  Its pretty quiet and never very many people there which can be a nice change from Royal Ground down the street.  Free Wifi is also attractive.  And yeah, some good food like bagel with spinach leek spread or the burritos.  Oh yeah and the only Organic coffee you can buy on this part of the street I think.

Overall- not bad, and though while service is friendly, I've witnessed a customer come in, ring the service bell... ring it again... wait a while... and then just leave.  Maybe that's why its so empty all the time!

I don't know what it is about this place...but I don't really like it.

I came here once because it's in my neighborhood and I needed to get some studying done. The tables are too crampy to do homework on...or for me at least. The people there were a little strange. A whole bunch of moms and their babies came in...made it very difficult to concentrate. Won't be coming back here.

Jesus christ. I honestly gave this place an extra star because all of the reviews for this place are hysterical and had me laughing for a good amount of time while i sit here bored for work.  in any case, yes this place SUCKS.  it was actually kinda cool when Flo worked there-she was so nice and bright and polite that I think most of the customers at the time came just to see her.  the owner vicki is.........well if you cant tell from the other reviews shes a cold biatch.  BUT.....that MAY be from the fact that shes the daughter or a russian mob boss. haha sounds ridiculous but an ex worker there did tell me that theres definitely some shady business going on there. she told me that she was asked many times at night to load some big bags from the cafe into a car by vickis father.  she said she happened to get a peek one time and they were huge duffel bags full of cash. may explain why all of the prospective employees are told they will be paid under the table.

I hate this place with a passion. Their coffee was bad and it seemed no one was competent enough to make a good cappucino. I can say this cause I was, once, a killer barista and I know how to make a kick-ass cappucino, with soy milk.

The service, indeed, terrible. The woman, who's also the owner, always looked so unhappy and did her job half-heartedly. Why even bother to have a business?

WARNING! Never apply a job here!!

A few weeks later, I was looking for a barista job and I thought, hey, maybe I could improve this lame-ass joint. I asked her about a job and she's only willing to pay me $5/hr under the table. WHAT??!!!! I was greatly insulted by this. Did she even read my awesome resume that's mentioned my highly barista experience?!! No wonder nobody wants to work here!

This coffee sucks. old and smelly.
The service was bad.
You just can not to run coffee store business.

I remember I was there about a year ago. Coffee was not  bad at all.
There was a different curly black long hair black girl there.
She was a very nice chatty fun girl.

I miss her.

Yeesh this place is sadly the closest coffee shop to my house but I'll easily walk 5 blocks to avoid it.  I've tried to give it a chance - really - I'd rather support local business but even the Starbucks in the Wells Fargo is more welcoming.

The coffee and food are overpriced in addition to being sub-standard but the kicker is the service.  If you are lucky you'll get an employee with a frightened, nervous demeanor that you just want to tip big out of pity.  The employees never seem to last though and that might be due to the complete freak of an owner.  The bizarre rules mentioned in the other reviews are all true.  She once launched a diatribe at me for asking if they had Splenda then when my friend asked for a glass of tap water she refused stating that it's unfiltered and she just couldn't give him some.  Um last I checked we could still drink tap water without ears sprouting from our backs.  When she asks if it's for here or to go it's like an accusation.  Ahem.  Nope sorry folks walk to Royal Ground or better yet over to Bizarre Cafe for your fix - this place is bad vibes central.

I stopped by to pass time until Veggie Yelp Dinner #4 - http://www.yelp.com/to...

Price: Double soy latte was ~ $3.25

Drinks: Coffee was just okay, as I've had better

Service: The barista apologized for not having any quarters when giving me change, which was cool of her for telling me

Atmosphere: There were plenty of seating room when I stopped by on a Tuesday evening; it was easy to find a seat

Unlike other reviewers, I didn't observe confrontations during the ~45 minutes that I was there.  Perhaps the owner (mentioned in the other reviews) was not present at the time?

I seriously don't know how this place stays open.  I really wanted to like it but they've made that pretty much impossible for me.

They've got a really good, IMO, drink called a Tuxedo Mocha... very tasty.

But aside from that pretty much everything else annoys me here.  They have a large amount of employee turnover which has led to spotty service (it took me 15 minutes to get a bagel and instead of cream cheese they put artichoke dip on my friend's) and at times inconsistent hours (what coffee house isn't open on saturday morning?).

The wifi is paid, which is kind of ridiculous when there are so many places where it is free.

The place is almost always completely empty, which if you're going there to relax, work or socialize is kind of depressing.

And finally it is cash only which only further annoys me.

I can't say I've had any of the bad experiences other folks have discussed here.  Granted, the last time I was at Javacat was 2006, but it was my neighborhood coffeeshop for most of 2005.

I found the service to be friendly and quick, the food simple and tasty and the couches comfy.  Free (and pretty reliable) wifi: rock!

The place was great when I needed to get some nutrition in my gullet in a hurry; run in, order a Javacat (drip coffee + n espresso shots) and a made-to-order bagel/egg/turkey/cheese sammich.   And yay: then I'd have change for the 38 bus.

They even offered free chair massages on certain mornings at one point.

I think the sleepy neighborhood of Inner Richmond needed that coffeeshop.  I was glad it was there.

This reminds me of a story...
When I was 10 I was gang-raped by a group of circus performers while in the hot sun with a nail in my toe.
Frequently I get nostalgic looking back on that day, in hopes that I'll have a chance to relive that moment.
Lucky for me, Javacat recreates that feeling with their dirty excuse for coffee and the special-needs clowns behind the counter.

2 words...free wireless is the only reason to ever step inside this dive....I repeat the ONLY reason. Better yet stand outside with your laptop if you want to meet the owner quick.

When I first moved to the neighborhood, I was so happy to find an independent cafe with DSL so close to my new home. Boy was i disappointed! Its almost worth the price of a small cup of coffee (6oz. $1.25!) to sit in there and watch the owner alienate customer after customer.

The owner has since finally replaced the chairs in the cafe, but they used to have these tattered couches and chairs, obviously free scores off the street. The only decent chairs were 2 comfy chairs closest to the register, where the owner and her family would bogart all day whenever they were not behind the counter. She would literally spread newspapers all over the chairs/table so no one would sit there. One day while the owners back was turned, this nice kid comes into the cafe and walks over and begins to fold up and recycle newspapers that he thought someone left behind. Just about as he was to sit down, she turns around and screams at him "DON'T sit there! those are saved! that's why all the newspapers are there!!" The kid looked shell shocked for a moment, then  apologized at sat down on one of the ratty chairs with springs coming out of them.

That is just one of the MANY crazy episodes I have witnessed the 5 or so times I suffered in exchange for free surfing. And like the reviewer below I have seen more than one customer leave while attempting to order.

I once asked her if the croissants were fresh and she replied..."uhhh yeah uhh they came in early this morning". She must have meant 12:01 am the evening before since it was only 10:30 in the morning and they couldn't pass for day old.

So if you absolutely need to check your email, pay your $1.25 and camp out for a few hours (she loves that) and watch the "crazy lady" show.

A newfound annoyance - bad, booming classical music coupled with a *loud,* insessant ringing of the javacat phone.  Either is a standalone annoyance; but the combination is quite the irksome cocktail.  ..And this is perhaps the least of my grievances.

You know when someone is being so cloyingly nice to you that the taste of saccharine begins to form in your mouth?  In the back-to-back days I dropped by this place (to hop on the free wifi) the owner quasi-snapped at me about three times.  The peculiar thing is, each time she snapped at me mid-sentence. - She starts out really nice, suddenly gets kinda postal, then finishes whatever she has to say with alacrity and an affected, beeming smile reminiscent of what you might see in a horror flick.  You know, the kind that makes you want to take a couple of quiet steps back, then turn around and haul ass.

She snapped at me for what I take to be rather sensible.  For instance, I asked to have a to-go cup for my coffee.  But she said that she won't allow me to sit in the cafe with a to-go cup.  No explanation.  Strange.  When I told her that I'd only be there a short while and so preferred a to-go cup, she snapped at me, saying that if I didn't finish my coffee at the cafe she'd then transfer my coffee to a to-go cup on my way out.  She then smiled brightly, and cheerfully said "okay?"  Okay sure, yeah, that makes sense.  I'll just take a sip or two in this glass cup then hand it over so that she can pour it into a to-go cup on my way out.  Perfect sense.

Oh by the way, if you ask for water, she'll sternly tell you that they don't serve tap water, and then point to the bottled water next to you.  Now that's service...with yet another delayed smile.

Yes, there is free wifi.  But you pay the price of being alienated, and end up supporting a business that doesn't seem to understand the awesome cafe culture in San Francisco.

Put it this way (as others have similarly conveyed): I live approximately 50 meters from this place and I avoid it like the plague. The coffee is fair, but there is this brunette (seemingly the owner that is just absolutely nasty in her attitude) that makes the place intolerable. I see her illegally parking in a nearly totaled vehicle all the time near my house to unload supplies from Smart and Final (at least buy the stuff at Costco--Smart & Final is really second rate in quality).

There used to be a really cool black chick (Flo, I think her name was) that worked there--she's gone. The easy on the eyes Blond is long gone too. Now you have bitchy woman.

She gave me slack for ordering a coffee in a paper cup. I knew I was leaving in 3-4 minutes, so I didn't want a mug. That was the last time I frequented the establishment.

Actually, the Starbucks down the street (which my neighbor's teenage daughter has worked in for a few years) has better coffee and they are really friendly and know the neighborhood people. It might be corporate coffee there, but at least they know people's names.

Regardless, they opened a Peet's 4 blocks away, and I go there instead--corporate coffee too, but at least they are nice and have good coffee.

Ok I rated it a 2 star only because it has free wi-fi and the coffee is good. But $1.25 for a 6oz cup is $$$$. I don't know if they have free refills, cause I was scared to ask, the owner is rude and nasty. I over heard her tell a customer that she could not use the restroom unless she placed a order over $3. I also witness two customers walk out cause they ordered two cafe moches while she was making sandwiches and she got nasty with them.
So I rate her attitude a big 0. But its great to have a place with free wi-free.

After my friends and I spent a good few hours visiting the Legion of Honor we parked on Geary and this was the first place we spotted that seemed to have an interesting menu for a decent price.  Really, the menu IS interesting with good variety and possibly interesting food and drinks.  I really wanted to like this place.  All of us did.  Unfortunately, it was a total bomb due to the piss poor customer service.  The only person working the bar couldn't have seemed anymore disinterested in doing her job.  My friend and I who both ordered pizza bagels waited at least half an hour to get them.  Dude!  Just let me toast it myself!  it'll be quicker!

While the idea of an "internet cafe" ala European style with separate computer terminals to surf the net is great--it doesn't really work for this locale.  Most people are locals that have laptops.  They don't need access to a PC.  They should ditch 2 out of 3 of the PCs in favor of table space.

I really liked the name of the cafe "Javacat Coffee"  It was cute and said "locally owned coffee shop" to me.  The interior was inviting as well despite losing space to 3 PCs.  And the menu had enough variety that had my first experience actually been a good one I would have been inclined to come back and try something else.  Unfortunately, my experience sucked ass, and I have no desire to ever set foot in this place again.

Good luck "Javacat"  You're going to need it.  Unless management gets its shiiite together you're going to get run over by your competitors.

What a ripoff! It tasted like water and I could not taste any ice cream and barely any strawberries. There was obviously too much milk.

Nothing about this place entices me. I come sometimes because it's close and to do my part in keeping the baristas employed as they are all very nice.

As a non coffee drinker I am judging on service/amenities alone.

Wifi never seems to work (need a password)
Ridiculous rules (have to get permission/buzzed in to use the bathroom--like kindergarten)
Owner is SO rude (have experienced a few uncomfortable situations with her berating an old couple with a to-go box who obviously did not read/ know the rules about not bringing in outside food and a lady desperate to use a bathroom who didn't have cash to buy something but promised to come back).

If I could rate this zero stars, I would.

A few months ago I stopped into Javacat and ordered a cup of tea (served in a glass pint glass and not a mug - not sure why). I sat down to read the paper.

Then I asked to use the restroom - HUGE MISTAKE. There is a $3.00 minimum to use the restroom. I was shocked. I proceeded to get into an arguement with the very rude owner. She told me that I had to buy something else in order to use the restroom. Maybe nobody wants to buy their overpriced food, and this is the only way she can sell it? She continued to argue with me and then turned her back to me.

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. This is a coffee shop, for goodness sake, not a prison.

I am never going back to Javacat again. If you are looking for a cup of coffee (or a delicious thai iced tea), a relaxed atmosphere and friendly, cheerful staff, walk three blocks to Royal Ground (Geary and 17th). You will be glad you did.

The staff at Royal Ground even let me use the bathroom without buying anything!

It was pretty quiet when I came to the Javacat with my friend.  He lives around the corner so it was a convenient place to grab a quick bite to eat.

I ordered the tomato soup with grilled cheese combo -- nothing to be excited about.  I also asked for a cup of water, since I didn't want to buy a bottle of water, she handed over a coffee cup with tap water, she didn't even put ice in it.

He ordered a salad which looked 100x more appetizing than my food.  I'm sure it tasted better, too.

I don't know if I would come back here for the food, but maybe for the coffee.  Its located really close to his apartment, so I guess that's a plus.

I once had a turkey sandwich here, it was alright.

I once stayed here to read a book. It got really, really stuffy and really, really hot.

I once sat on one of their chairs to read a book, and I couldn't really find a comfortable position.

I once applied for a job here, and they offered to pay me $5.50 an hour. The year was 2006, and that was like $3.00 under minimum wage.

I haven't been back since.

After driving 20 miles (3-4 hours in bay area traffic), an executive decision was made to stop and get a.)coffee (it was 1ish and I'd had none) and b.) food. Since we were in the Richmond and knew that finding something in Marin would be a real high-falootin' pain in the tooshy, we decided to stop and grab something close. Well, Javacat Coffee was close.

I got an iced soy latte (that's pretty high-falootin' itself) and a turkey and cheese sandwich. The coffee was great, the sandwich okay - kinda pricey overall. The true gem in the JavaCat Coffee place is the teeeny-tiny door that you have to go through to get to the bathroom - it looks oddly Alice in Wonderlandish. Of course, once you get in there, the bathroom is pretty normal, kinda dark, but with good paintings on the walls, toilet. You know - the normal stuff. Kinda like the sandwich. Normal. But not the door, it was more my style. Abbie normal.

My mission is to find and review new places where I can work on my laptop online and get good coffee / beer.

This place lured me in with their comfy looking leather chairs with armrests lined along the interior of their large window walls. They offer free wifi and organic coffee so I gave them a try.

The first thing I noticed was the droning of the Snapple cooler. This place doesn't have proper sound insulation. The walls were lightly decored and easy on the eyes. Not all leather seats have power outlet accessibility. The wooden seats at the center have no power outlet accessibility. This is OK because it's not usually crowded. 4/10 for environment.

I ordered a cup of organic coffee. I tried it black with no sugar, and it had a crisp but very bitter flavor. It would do better with some milk, if it were hotter. 6/10 for the coffee.

I eagerly sat on one of the leather seats, only to find that the table was much too high for practical use. The seats are *very* comfortable though, and ideal for laptop work. I fetched a wooden chair and used that as my laptop desk. 4/10 for ergonomics.

The place is naturally well lit, but I really wish I could open the widnows. There is no natural wind flow and I can imagine how stuffy it might get when it's warm out. The place is a wee bit dusty as well, and I can't stand that because of my dust allergies. It's a damn shame but i don't feel like i'm working outside my house. 3/10 for atmosphere.

Overall I probably wouldn't come here again except to get a quick cup of coffee. I'm going to leave now before I start sneezing.

(no alcohol, not crowded, not a good choice of pastries, they do serve breakfast and lunch food).

Have you ever tried to get a good salad in the Richmond? It's not going to happen. It's a land of rich, filling foods, of curries and bowls of noodles and dumplings and baked goods and meat in baked goods...

But you want a salad for lunch? Not so much.

So, the wraps and salads you can get here aren't worth crossing hill and dale and Park Presidio, but the lettuce isn't wilty either. It'll do.

I suppose I am biased about this place for reasons I do not feel comfortable disclosing but damn, the coffee really isn't that bad.  Maybe these other reviewers are talking about a different Javacat on a different Geary street in some kind of alternate universe San Fran.  Some illiterate moron had the nerve to say this place has worse coffee than Starbucks but the only way to make coffee worse than that corporate octopus is to brew it in piss(chocolate fucking milk is not a mocha).   They have free WiFi and a friendly staff.

CONCLUSION:  I give a three star place Five stars to shit on other un-proof read negative reviews(so they have limited selection of juice for your 2 year old, well across the street there is a fucking liquor store, throw some vodka in his juice to shut em' up)..

this place is pretttty cute. unlike the other reviews, ive yet to experience the dragon lady. the clerk was really friendly and i think because of him, im coming back, even if it means traveling 20 blocks.

they dont accept credit cards?? understandable for a small establishment, but they have an ATM machine inside.

2 downsides: the food is a littttle fatty. my pizza bagel had way too much cream cheese but it was delicious nonetheless. the nutella frappe was a little on the buttery fatty side. or, maybe its just my gluttony? = poor choice in food = an embarassing myocardial infarction one of these days at a restaurant

another downside is the lighting. i neeeed light! i can hardly read any of my notes. le sigh

im just glad they have a restroom. not many patrons here, but im here on a friday. perhaps that is why?

overall, this place is decent. i will come back.

I used to live in the area. A few times, I tried to go there for breakfast at around 9am and the place has been closed each time. One time we waited 15min. until an employee came and apologized for being late. Another time we've waited for 30min. and no one opened..other times we just gave up. We have not returned since. They open when they feel like opening, they don't seem to have set hours!!!! The service is ok. The owner seems to be pretty firm in asking you whether you want to drink your coffee/tea in cafe or you want it to go because if you say 'to go', don't think of sitting down because she will come to you!! She will ask if you want to stay so she can put  your drink in a glass instead of the paper cup!! I've seen this happened twice. The customer was so embarrassed because the customer was just going to sit for a few minutes!! I don't enjoy this cafe.

Booo. Everything I have ever had here has been pretty bad. I don't like anything except the free WiFi. My dad, however, likes the coffee, and so, I give it a second star. However, everything was waaay too pricey, so I take that star back.

Great spot to sit and watch Geary traffic. The coffee is actually good -- it's easy to get spoiled in San Francisco

The downside, as others have pointed out, is the continual state of hostilies that exists at Java Cat. I've never seen anything like it.

It's like a Wild West saloon. Someone is constantly fighting with the owner and being thrown out. If you bring in outside food, prepare for her to swoop down on you like a bird of prey. You can't be in there more than 2 hours before someone is telling the owner to fuck herself because he bought $1.00 in coffee, intending to use the bathroom and not realizing there was $3.00 minimum just to take a leak. The place is run with an iron rule, like North Korea only with food.

And yet I still have warm memories of my first day living on Geary St., Java Cat being open at about 6:00, and giving me a warm greeting on a cold morning before sunrise.

So if you want to live on the edge, drink your coffee at this recently renovated bistro, keep your head down. Because the odds are, when you walk in, that shit is about to go down in moments.

This place must have changed owners since it first opened a few years back. When it opened it was run by a couple who most likely split and sold! But this place just seems to go from worse to worser... yes... I made that word up... but this place deserves the new word since nothing else can describe it. Just stay away... you'll actually get better serve and coffee (believe it or not!) at the Starbucks down the road!

Not sure why this place gets such poor reviews. I've spent the past two hours here using their free Internet, sipping a delicious latte and enjoying a yogurt parfait (featuring unexpected warm fruit at the bottom - delicious). Add in relaxing music and friendly service, and it's not a bad way to pass a rainy afternoon.

Blech.    This used to look like a nice place to have a coffee...seemed like there was always an open table, and they have free wi-fi.  One time I did stop in to have a cappuccino with a friend.  What a mistake.  I'm not sure I can find the right words to describe the flavor, but it was, in a word, atrocious.  An olfactory assault, if you will.  I now know why the place is always empty.  It must be tough to compete with Starbuck's right down the street, but come on...put a little effort into it.

Javacat Coffee is alright in my book.  I can spend hours in coffee shops chatting with friends or reading alone, and Javacat is perfect for both.  Their food menu is quite extensive for a coffee house, and while I haven't tried much on their menu, I LOVE their bagel selection (eg corn tortilla) and cream cheese additives (eg sun-dried tomatoes and artichoke hearts).  Their coffee's good, and tea selection is nice.  I love that they are open on the later side too.
