As another regular and I have put it, this is "home away from home."  It has been suggested that I start paying rent here.  Enough said.

***RIP as of June 6, 2008.***  :(

Java California has good coffee, a homey feel with the board games, and is a haven for anyone who needs a place to study - they have a designated "study room" which means no crying babies, no obnoxious teens on cellphones, and no stressing about the workers kicking you out at closing time (Sunday through Thursday they're 24/7 - they may have upgraded to everyday, but it's been a year or two since I've been to JC).

As an ex- UC Davis undergrad (now Alumni), this is a great place to study and get coffee 24 hours a day!  Yep... the only coffee shop that I have found that is 24hrs.  As an ex-Starbucks worker, the coffee is not that bad + they have flavored whipped cream.  They also have different snacks  that you can purchase.    They also have an area with comfty chairs and tables for people to study.  Recommend Davis students or any college students to study here!

Coffee is consistent, service is quick, and they NEVER close!! They really reach out to their customers and do the best they can to make them feel appreciated. Free books, and even let your rent Free Movies on the honor code. Pretty cool if you ask me. Back in the day they use to cater to the youth of little Dixon by allowing them to have concerts. I have always thought that was really cool. John is or was the owner and really is a nice guy. Stop by and say hi

Almond Roca Mocha!!! If you are fond of the candy as much as I am, then you must try this drink topped with caramel whipped cream.  Besides this place is open 24 hours, carries fresh Krispy Creme donuts, offers free Wi-Fi, and the owners don't mind that you bring in food from other restaurants. This is a nice spot for college students to hang out, cram for finals, or relax with friends. The decor is sporadic and mix-matched, but extremely comfy with ergonomic chairs and wide couches. There are several areas to get situated in, including a game area complete with board games and reclining chairs, a children's play room, and a small conference room. I used to visit this place often, when I lived in Sacramento, but still find the time to drive up from Vallejo when I'm craving something yummy around midnight.

Awesome place for coffee in the middle of the night for the drive on I-80.  I try not to drive I-80 anymore during daylight hours, as it's the most crowded highway in N. California these days it seems, and the most accident prone.  Everyday someone dies on I-80 in Fairfield or Vacaville.  So am happy to be able to have a relatively smooth driving experience at night, and I look forward to stopping for coffee at Java California.

Was a little disturbed to find it not open the last time I was there (August 20, 2007) at about 4:30am.  I hope it's not shut down!!  I would definitely prefer to give my money to a local, totally unique cafe, rather than Starbucks, which I did on that night...because it was open.
