Not enough New Yorkers Yelp their doctors, dentists and stylists...but thank God a handful of you have written stellar reviews for Dr. Dolinsky.
After moving from San Francisco, I relied on Yelp to lead me to a fantastic doctor. And it did.

Dr. Dolinsky is a rarity in today's medical field. He actually wants to stop to talk with you, to get to the root of your problem. He doesn't overbook his appointments, so you're not waiting for an hour to see him. His staff is excellent, and his office is very nice.
So happy that I found a doctor that I can trust in NYC...

Yelp has led me to some really good restaurants, bars, and activities. I didn't expect it to by my resource when I needed a great doctor, but wow, what a lucky surprise.  Dr. Dolinsky is everything the reviews say below and more.  He caught me at my worst after a night of being very sick. I was tired, and unusually emotional but he met this with good humor and patience, and actually made me smile. He also squeezed me in- a new patient- after hearing my sob story on the phone. His staff couldn't have been kinder to me, or to an elderly patient who was waiting with a lot of questions for them.

As a person who is legitimately afraid of needles, I won't hesitate to tell you that this man draws blood with NO pain.  I honestly didn't even know it started until he told me it was over.  Amazing.

I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a good GP. He even answered all my, "my sister is a doctor and she says" questions without wincing.  That is big.  I've learned from said sister and other doctors' reactions that most doctors don't like that...understandable but also unavoidable with me.

He gave me good referrals to other doctors (also good) whom I will eventually review as well. Last but not least, he gave me a number to call if I had any questions and picked up when I did.

Oh, and he takes Highmark BCBS too.  In-network is big.

I've seen Dr. D a few more times since my last review. As usual, he provided me with the utmost care. And it's always a plus to have a good-natured doctor with a great sense of humor...and always professional.

Ok, I have to admit, I feel totally odd yelping about a doctor, but this is big for me.  I rarely get sick (maybe 3 times in the past 10 years or so), so I don't go to the doctor, not even for the yearly checkup.  But a good friend of mine told me to get off that horse and check out a doctor.  A colleague at the office recommended Dr. Dolinsky and now, i want to recommend him to all of you.

No one likes going to the doctor, but Dr. D, he doesn't give you that feeling.  He's jovial, laid-back and no matter the reason, always leaves you laughing and smiling.  He talks TO you, not at you and creates an air where you feel comfortable talking about anything and everything with him... think Norm at Cheers (only, he doesn't look like Norm).

So if you're in the need for a primary care physician, check him out.  And yes, I did, finally, get a physical.  Status - 100% A-ok!!!

I had my first visit with Dr. Dolinsky for a physical exam today and my fellow yelpers reviews were spot on! Dr. Dolinsky went through my previous medical history and listened to what I had to say. He was very thorough in his examination, even taking time to quote lines from "Superbad" to make the experience even more pleasant. His assistant as well as the rest of the office staff is also very friendly and courteous. Very highly recommended!

I didn't have a primary care physician here in NY, and I actually decided to visit Dr. Dolinsky based on the recommendations of other yelpers. Even though he came highly recommended, I was still afraid to have blood taken for the tests I needed, especially because I've had a lot of bad experiences in the past--from nearly passing out, to a nurse sticking me repeatedly trying to find the right spot and leaving behind a huge ugly bruise in the process. I was convinced that having blood taken was always going to be a horrible experience.

Well, it turns out I had nothing to worry about--Dr. Dolinsky's friendly but still professional demeanor put me at ease right away. When the time came  time for the needle, he distracted me so well that I barely noticed anything was happening. It didn't hurt at all, and the whole thing was over before I knew it. And just importantly, he didn't make me feel silly or stupid for being afraid or having concerns--he was able to talk to me like a peer (even joking around about 80's movies to take my mind off the blood test) while still maintaining a high level of professionalism. That's very important to me in a city where too many doctors treat you more like a problem than a patient.

All in all it was a great experience and I will definitely go back to Dr. Dolinsky the next time I need to visit a doctor.

I would absolutely recommend him to friends and family (and anyone else--in fact I joined yelp just so I could leave a review).

Dr. Dolinsky is a great doctor and wonderful human being.  It is hard to find a doctor these days like Dr. Dolinsky, especially here in Manhattan.  After losing my family PCP to retirement, I began my search of a good doctor in the city.  I decided to do some research online and figured I would check out Yelp, too.  I found Dr. Dolinsky on Yelp and saw that he had good reviews from fellow Yelpers.  So, I decided to give him a try.

At first I was very skeptical about Dr. Dolinsky and his practice.  I wondered if the reviewers on Yelp were family members or Dr. Dolinsky himself.  In addition to my doubts, I had a bit of a surprising experience with his office.  So the story goes as follows:  I had an appointment scheduled with Dr. Dolinsky for an early Monday morning appointment in May.  Unfortunately, I caught a serious and very painful stomach bug the weekend before my scheduled exam and I had to go to the ER for two days.  So, as I was lying in the hospital, I missed the appointment and needless to say, I couldn't call Dr. Dolinsky's office to reschedule the appointment.  When I called back later in the week to reschedule the missed appointment, I was told by the receptionist that I would be charged $75 for the missed visit.  I was shocked!!!  I had never even seen Dr. Dolinsky before and his office was already charging me $75 for an appointment that I couldn't go to even if I had wanted to.  So, I pleaded with the receptionist to please waive the $75 and she told me that she would need to consult Dr. Dolinsky.  The next day, I received a call from the receptionist saying that Dr. Dolinsky said it was ok, that the fee was waived and I should reschedule another appointment to see him.  Phew!!!  I felt better about the situation and had hope that Dr. Dolinsky was a reasonable man.

So, after the ordeal about the $75 cancellation charge, I was still skeptical about Dr. Dolinsky and his office.  That all changed when I got to his office.  First, I recognized his office from having seen one of his colleagues a while back.  So I felt at ease about the office itself.  After a short wait for the doctor in the waiting room, he came by to greet me personally and lead me to his office.  There was no waiting in the exam room like there are at most other larger and less personal doctors' offices I have been to.  He lead me to his office where he engaged me in conversation to know who I was as a person and really get to know all about me.  I think that he does an excellent job making you feel comfortable while he gets to know about your health, body and you as a person.

In addition to his good nature and kindness, he truly does care about his patients.  Once in the exam room, he examined me during my physical almost from start to finish.  He even drew the blood himself!!!  How many doctors do that these days?  They usually delegate that to the nurse, in my experience.  At any rate, I am looking forward to being Dr. Dolinsky's patient for many years to come!!!  He is a great doctor!

P.S.  Dr. Dolinsky explained that the $75 policy is a deterrent against people just not showing up for their appointments.  I totally understand why he does it.  He is trying to run a business after all and if he has patients who just cancel on him or don't show up when scheduled, I personally think that it is 1.) very rude and 2.) wasting Dr. Dolinsky's valuable time and ability to make money.  So, the $75 is a deterrent against disrespectful patients and I understood where he was coming from.  I wouldn't want patients who wasted my time, either.

After a horrible start with NYC doctors, Dr Dolinsky def proved that not the entire NYC medical community is incompetent. His office staff is really nice and helpful. The office has a clean, welcoming environment. And as a doctor, Dr Dolinsky knew what he was talking about. I was alway at ease with him and he went above and beyond what any other doctor would do for a regular check-up. He provided references and was determined to make sure I stayed healthy. I def will recommend him to others (and already have).

Thanks to Yelp I found Dr. Dolinsky.  Like many people I've been absolutely clueless on how to find a good and competent doctor in NYC.  I have Cigna insurance and I have looked through the directory and felt like I might as well throw darts to pick someone since I had no information to work with.  Why is it that I can find a vast amount of data and reviews on restaurants but not for a good doctor?  People really need better information about health care providers.  After reading the reviews on Dr. Dolinsky on Yelp I scheduled an appointment and came in for the dreaded annual physical that I have put off for about 20 years now.  Dr. Dolinsky is first class - great education at U. Penn, he takes his time to talk to you and is very through.  On top of that he is easy to talk to which is great for someone like me who gets very nervous about going to the doctor.  Thanks to the other Yelpers for the lead on this doc.
