I signed up for the Janet Jewelry mailing list a couple years ago (I think because of seeing her ad in Giant Robot). After looking at her site for a couple years, I finally purchased an Origami Tsuru necklace from the site last year. I don't remember how long the delivery time took but I remember it being shorter than I thought it would be.
The necklace was packaged in a necklace length cardboard box in a plastic baggie and came with a handwritten thank you card from Vicky (also enclosed was her business card with her title - Customer Care/Associate Store Manager), postcards with some of their other items, Janet Sterling Silver Design post-it notes, and some candy. The personalized touch was really nice and I was very pleased with the quality of the necklace.
There are some beautiful pieces on the site and some really cute items that can be personalized. I plan to purchase from here again sometime in the near future - makes great gifts (for friends, family, AND myself)!
My wife and I have been patrons of Janet Masamitsu (and her assistant Vicky) for the past few years... since 2002 I think. She's made custom rings for our anniversary, a beautiful blue topaz set for last year's holidays and shipped product all the way to Germany when we were living there. My wife must have a dozen pieces by now. When we've asked for adjustable spacers to be added to necklaces and anklets so that they would sit differently based on my wife's mood, she took care of it with no issue or added cost.
Not only are her designs unique, but when a gemstone fell off of one of my wife's earrings, she found a matching stone, made the replacement and shipped it back at no cost. As an artist and a business person, she seems to stand behind her work.
The shop is a small space divided evenly between her workshop and the retail area and showcases all of her current designs.

Janet Jewelry has the BEST stuff! Really cool, unique designs. Janet herself was at the store, who makes everything right there! She is super nice and gives the best customer service. She has really cool customized pieces too! Janetjewelry has even been featured

Established in 1997
Janet Sterling Silver Design began in Janet's living room in 1997, and has since grown into a full online boutique, with clients all over the USA, Canada, Japan, and Europe. In 2002, the JanetJewelry retail boutique opened in downtown NYC, but after the birth of her daughter, Janet decided to close the store in 2008 and built a home studio workshop.
Janet's jewelry has been featured in numerous magazines and newspapers, including New York Times, Paper, Stuff, YM, Giant Robot, CMJ New Music Monthly, Elle Girl, New York Daily News, Bust, Revolver, and Cargo. Meredith Vieira wore her Postmordern Candy Necklace on "The View," and Janet herself made her first TV appearance on The Oxygen Network's "SheCommerce," and more recently, on Style! Network's show, "Isaac," with designer Isaac Mizrahi. Her pieces have been worn by The Killers, Cibo Matto, and Blu Cantrell, and she has also worked on commissioned designs for Cyndi Lauper, Phantom Planet, and Jeffrey Gaines.
Meet the Business Owner: Janet M.
Born in Japan, Janet was raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, where she began taking silversmithing classes at Punahou School. She received her BA from Santa Clara University, with a major in History with a European Emphasis, and a minor in Art History. Jewelry making took a backseat while she pursued a teaching career, but after receiving her MA in Gender Politics from New York University, she realized that she spent all her spare time making jewelry, and decided to turn her hobby into her dream vocation.
Janet designs and handcrafts all the jewelry in her home workshop studio, which she built after the birth of her daughter--she very much enjoys being able to juggle work with motherhood and loves working from home.
Besides the jewelry making, Janet also photographs all her own online jewelry pictures, and programs and maintains the website, www.janetjewelry.com.
