What I love about this place:

      1) The name "Jane's House"- It is so genius, cuz I feel like I'm going to a house partay.
      2) The fact that it actually IS a house.
      3) It's kinda hidden in the nook and mysterious from the outside.
      4) Free drinks between 10-11p.m?
      5) Nice seating arrangement they got going on in the front/outside area.
      6) I liked the old school hip hop they had with the recent DJ.

Nice place, and fun to chill/hang with good company. Plus, I met an interesting group of people.

Everything that could have went wrong- totally went wrong last night.

1] $20 for parking + rude service: there was nothing else around and we were freaken cold- so we had to spend that much to park and to get yelled at the the guy.

2] Entrance: why are the freaken entrance to this place upstairs? my highs were not that high, but a bunch of the girls i was with almost died.

3] they said they had a "Full Bar" but the bar upstairs is not Fully stocked. she couldnt make half the drinks I asked for + she was rude.

4] Bartenders not knowledgeable: the bar downstairs was fully stocked + the bartender was nice- but she had no idea how to make anything. i had to walk her thru making pretty common drinks: White Russians, Sand in my Shorts, Surfer on Acid, etc.

5] Music: the music here is crap- basically your top40, that's it.
      nothing special.

6] the crowd sucks, everyone was bitchy and annoying: stay home on New Year's Even if you don't wanna be friendly with ppl at a bar/lounge area.

Overall, the 1 star was for the beautiful Victorian Lounge Venue, which I don't even care for after all the bullshit. Never coming back here again.

Went here to support a good friend of mine who promotes here on Wednesdays. Before the grand opening of Wednesday nights, I was invited to a private birthday soiree for Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls. Who turns down that invitation? Not I!

I had a great time, drinks were great. However, I recommend the bar inside the actual house rather than the outside bar with the cute bartender. All my girlfriends think he's adorable, but he cannot make a French Martini to save his life.

Anyway, the highlight of my night was meeting LOU DIAMOND PHILLIPS! Ahhhh, I'm not the starstruck type, but that was the most starstruck I had ever been. It's probably a Filipino thing. I immediately texted my mother after my lovely conversation with Lou and his wife. What a nice, incredible down-to earth guy.

I also partied with a DRUNKEN but sweet Nicole Scherzinger on the patio the next Wednesday for the Grand Opening of Wednesday nights. Other celebrity/pseudo-celebrity sightings include: Jaime Pressly and one of the guys from the now-defunct boy band O-Town.

I substracted one star for the fact that my subsequent visits to Jane's House on Wednesdays were not the same. I was hoping Jane's would continue to be selective with their crowd, but lately it seems they let anyone in. Blah, get your swag back, Jane's!

Let me start by saying that I refuse to go back here.

I read the Yelp reviews and was excited to have my friends join me for my birthday at a place where the "attitude was left at the door" and the crowd was fun and easygoing, but it felt that the worst attitudes I encountered were from the very people working the door!!

Prior to my arrival, I spoke to a promoter and she highly recommended coming on a Friday night, as there was a fundraiser and Fridays were one of their more popular nights. She also mentioned that there was no door fee, though we should arrive early.

My friends arrived at 9:15pm and were told it's a VIP event and nobody was allowed in unless they were on the guest list or purchasing a bottle/table. Though a majority of my friends were guys (approx. around the age of 25), we were an attractive group. First they were forcing us to have a 1:1 male:female ratio, otherwise single guys were not allowed in at all. After standing around for over an hour and a half and me bartering with her, the girl at the door decided that she would allow our group in if the guys paid $20 and the girls paid $5-10. How is that considered NOT having a door fee?!!

Upon entrance, the place was almost completely empty of people (the most filled area was the outdoor patio) and was nothing more than an empty house with a few pieces of furniture here and there and 2-3 bars. Though the music was great, the small room designated as the dance floor was sectioned off for the VIP guest (there were maybe 5 people there total). The stairs leading to the outside patio were also extremely uneven, so ladies, watch out if you're wearing heels.

It's true that the overall atmosphere was easy going and the crowd was alright, but I must admit, the 1.5 hr wait outside for a venue that was nowhere near capacity definitely rubbed me wrong.

Hellloooo cool house! Heard about this place from a friend and finally made it out with a few girlfriends. We got there around ten and had no problems getting in. The place was a bit empty and did not get semi packed until at least 11:30 which the staff said was very typical.
Its located surrounded by other businesses, at end of an alley. You cant believe someplace like this exists back there.
We took a tour around the entire house and loved it. Seemed original. There was a dj spinning outside and one upstairs inside.
Problem: NO AIR CONDITIONING IN THE HOUSE and no open windows. There is no way anyone can dance inside on a warm/hot night in LA. We couldnt stand it in there for longer than 5 min.

The outside area is very nice and comfortable. There is a lame bar outside but a decent one inside. Drinks are expensive just like anywhere else in Hollywood. $12 -$16 dollars.

Honestly, the crowd was boring, 21 year old mostly, music could have been better, not good enough or air conditioned enough to dance to and basically we left at midnight because we were bored.

Was glad to have seen it because its a cool concept and awesome old house.

It was okay, but I dont think we would go out specifically to come here again.

It appears that putting the word "house" in bar/club names is now the thing to do. My House, Janes House and even I have heard there is a place called Tree House. I guess drinking in houses is where it is at. That is fine by me, it makes me feel at home.

And by the way this used to be a restaurant called Memphis, but was recently transformed into a bar.

The old Victorian house looks like it belongs in the south somewhere with it's high ceilings, massive porch and spiraling towers. I heard some convoluted story when I got there about how it was Charlie Chapman's house- or maybe his niece's house or something. I can't quite remember. But there is definitely some sort of story there for you, if you are into that sort of thing. And I would go there soon because with drunk people running amock in there now it can't hold it's charm forever.

What I am into, especially on a Friday night, is drinking. And this is where Jane's House surpassed my wildest expectations. Somehow my friend was able to order us pint sized martinis made of Tanqueray. Now I am not a lush, but a simple, grown man. And at the end of a hard work week I don't ask for much. Again, I am a simple man. All I hope for is meat for my gullet, strong drink for my soul and a bed full of beautiful lady.

Here's to you Jane's House, because one out of three aint bad.

Chill place. I like the outdoor patio area and the DJ is pretty good. There's no cover, but they do a guestlist for getting in. Went on a Friday night, and it didn't get crowded until after 11pm, which is a bit later than normal.

The inside of the victorian home is nice, with dark hardwood floors and several rooms for mingling.

The place is still new, so no food is being served; hopefully they change that so people can get some nibbles at night.

Came here on a Friday and was on the guest list. The bouncer made us wait a couple of minutes before letting us through the ropes which seemed relatively normal until we walked in. The outdoor patio was pretty happening at 11 with good music. However, the rest of the house was pretty much dead. We thought the place would pick up, but it never did. It amazed me that they would still hold the door...the crowd was decent looking but definitely could use more people all around. While the idea of the place is cool, it just didn't quite make our night. For example, the classic house seems old and broken down compared to MyHouse [sorry..], the bathroom smelled horrible and it was pretty much just dead inside.

The security guard was very nice and walked us to a bathroom on the side of the house while the bartender gave me extra Redbull to help me down my VERY STIFF drink. Other than that, I don't see the point of making another appearance here.

I came here for an event recently. It sounds like it used to be a club but was closed and is now used as a venue for people to come in and do parties.

The design of the place is really cool. It feels like you're in a house party in college (something I miss from my UCSB days), since it is an actual house you're going to. Each room is done up to match the Victorian exterior of the house, with a living room, dining room, ect. There are two bars, one smaller one upstairs when you first come in, and one downstairs that is a lot larger. The outside area is really nice, a covered patio with lots of seats.

I had a really awesome time here (free drinks didn't hurt) and would love to see it reopen as a club, or get more prominent as a venue. The only negative, there are a lot of stairs, and I only found one bathroom. When you're a girl in heels, that's a killer combination! Also they had us enter through the second floor, so that meant stairs before you even got in.

There is a private parking lot in the back, but it wasn't very big and filled super fast. We took a taxi, and word to the wise, you have to walk through area of shops to get to the sketchy alley that will lead you to the house. My friends thought I was trying to lead them to their demise.

All and all a really cool and unique venue (I would love to go to a spooky Halloween party here!)
