I've decided that today is Wedding review day, and I'm starting with Jane Hammond Events...
When we decided to get married at the Limn Gallery (review to follow) we started looking at caterers. We interviewed a few, and Jane Hammond quickly rose to the top of our list.
We were on a tight budget for our wedding and were up front with Jane and her team from the start and they assured us that we could put together a wonderful event that would fit within our budget. We also loved the fact that we'd have a "day of" event manager so that we wouldn't have to worry about making sure that everything would come together on the day of our wedding.
Here is where Jane Hammond Events really won our hearts.....We had planned on a January 24th wedding date, and had everything lined up for that date. It turns out that I got pregnant a bit earlier than we had expected and I really wanted to move up the wedding date by 6 weeks to avoid being a giant pregnant bride. Jane's team was unbelievably flexible with us and worked with us to change our date to December 6th...right in the heart of their busy holiday party season. It was a seamless process, and they really pulled together to make our event perfect.
Sian Thomas was our main contact and was wonderful to work with. She helped me make some decisions and my mind was totally at ease the day of the wedding, knowing that she had everything under control.
The food was amazing, the servers and bartenders were all wonderful, we had an awesome sushi bar, and Sian's team even made a run to the market to pick up more booze when we ran out of vodka.
We've gotten many many compliments on our event, and have been told by some of our friends that it's one of the best weddings with the most fabulous food they've attended. I attribute much of this success to hiring Jane Hammond Events!
Had a special chance to sample todays catering for Stanford University brunch menu.
Of particular note:
The all-natural mini-doughnuts were a very special treat never before tasted anywhere. All natural, 100% delicious ... who said natural cannot be delicious or that doughnuts were unhealthy -- these little gems were outstanding. The toppings were so yummy: maple, chocolate, cinnamon-sugar, etc., one tasted like it had a hint of orange (yes, i sampled them all and still did not feel bloated or feel like i had "sinkers" in my tum tum.
The sandwich I choose was the one kind I never thought I would. The meat sandwiches looked so tempting but guess what, never had an all veggie sandwich before so I had to sample it. The roll was so deliciously bake fresh, the all freshly grown locally veggie were such a treat for the meat-eater. The main ingredient was egg plant with greens and herbs. It was like eating a gourmet sandwich even though it was a gourmet VEGETARIAN sandwich. Deliciously so, I wanted another, but choose to sneak a meat sandwich for later. It was a delicious white turkey or white fowl meat with cheese on a gourmet herb bread. Wow, this was outstanding. The bread tasted like it was just baked, the the ingredients just prepared minutes before ingesting. What a treat it was; definitely a perfect 5-stars for this eater that dines out 5 times per week.
If and when I need to have an event catered, these special people are at the top of my list and I will refer all my friends their way. I did a GOOGLE on their catering and event service and was blown away by what they offered. I heard stories about how their staff goes out of the way to make it a special SPECIAL event for their clients.
I am an ex-employee of Jane Hammond Events and thought that I should write a review. Since I no longer work with JHE I wanted to give a different lens to view the work that she does through. Jane Hammond is one of the most amazing, giving, and brilliant people I have ever had the honor of meeting. I have never had a boss that was so hands on in the work her company was doing. Jane was at almost every event I ever worked, she would always greet every staff person there and thank them for being there. To have a boss be so genuine and caring is very rare. Her company has one of the strongest teams I have ever been apart of and I completely attribute that her character. She pays her employees well, feeds them, and truly builds relationships.
Jane has built a stellar management team of three wonderful women. Any of these incredibly intelligent women (Amy, Sian, or Naomi) could help you plan a wonderful event for any occasion. You would be incredibly lucky to work with any of these three women.
Every single chef on staff is both talented and wonderful. They are all amazing people with a true love of food. Since I was able to sample and partake in many of the meals they prepared I know first hand how delicious their food is. The food is carefully selected and organic. Every item, sweet or savory is equally delicious!
The serving staff is a great diverse team of men and women. This is the job that I did for the past two years while completing my Master's degree. Almost 100% of the JHE service team has a BA or BS. All of these men and women are incredibly hard workers. They will deliver quick and friendly service.
I hope that this review can be seen for what it truly is, a rarity. Jane did not ask me to write this. I wanted to write this to show future customers that they would be in good hands with Jane for many reasons. I hope that when you are selecting a catering company you will strongly consider JHE. She is environmentally savvy, thoughtful, and extremely good at what she does. Her team is dedicated and gifted. I wish I still worked there, I will truly miss the amazing men and women of Jane Hammond Events.
JH Events is my go to caterer in San Francisco and the Bay area. If I could, I would take her on all my projects, no matter the location.
When working with Jane, I trust 110% that I'm in good hands and that all will be taken care of. Her and her staff "get it" and know how to make a good event with little direction. My most recent production had so many moving parts that I was needed backstage before go time and couldn't focus my attention on the party happening in the lobby. Thankfully for Jane and her team everything was completely under control. Guests were happy and raving about the food (I'll get to that in a minute) and when they entered the studio for show time, not one of the guests had snuck in a glass of booze as food and drink were prohibited inside the show venue, thanks to the watchful eyes of Jane and staff. After the show, Jane and her team were so diligent about cleaning up, that there wasn't even a trace of evidence that a party had taken place there just 90 minutes before. Seriously, not one piece of trash or item misplaced (I wish I could say the same for my back of house team). The only remains were left over food, neatly boxed and marked for my team and I to enjoy after the event was through. You better believe I ate every ounce of that fresh quinoa salad for the next three days. No way was I going to let something that delicious go to waste.
Not only does JH events execute service well, but the food is INCREDIBLE. All fresh and mostly local ingredients (when available). No pizza for my crew, I know how to score extra points by having Jane cater for my crew and talent. After all, a happy crew is the key to a successful event. That and having Jane on board!
My experience working with Jane and her team on a corporate event at Terra SF this month was outstanding.
Jane's calm in the storm of day, time and other logistical changes made my job easy and let me be the "hero" at the software company where I was contracted.
Jane's team's professionalism, service, attention to detail at the reception, not to mention the incredible food, meant that the evening was executed smoothly and the guests did not want to leave until over an hour after closing time!
I would not hesitate to hire Jane Hammond Events for my next catered event.
We worked with Jane Hammond Events for our recent wedding at Limn Gallery, and we could not have been more pleased with every aspect. While we found so much of the wedding industry to be designed to make things difficult and expensive, Jane and her team strove to do the opposite - be as easy to work with as possible and help us save money where possible.
The way my wife & I think about the wedding process is that it requires a couple to make hundreds of little decisions, each of which doesn't necessarily matter that much, but at the time of decision, requires thought so as not to make a 'mistake'. Think about it - will anyone really remember what types of plates you had? You might, but no one else will. Add all these little decisions up, and planning a wedding becomes an enormous undertaking.
Given this, what we most appreciated about Jane was how she and her staff were completely flexible on doing as little or as much as we wanted them to do. While we cared a lot about some of the details of the ceremony (for example, the flowers and some of the paper/design elements, both of which we contracted with other vendors directly), other things (for example, choosing linens, china) we didn't want to have to make every decision. On these elements that were less important to us, Jane brought to us recommendations based on her experience and saved us untold time in having to make every decision. Best of all, her recommendations were perfect and we could not have been more happy with every aspect of the ceremony.
Naomi was the person we worked with the most as we got toward our wedding day, and on the day of the event, she did a masterful job of keeping the day moving and everything went exactly as planned.
As just one little example of their thoughtfulness, at the end of the evening, they sent us home with a bag with our two entrees and a couple of our individual bread puddings, plus a bottle of sparkling water, since we had not had much time during the evening to eat. That kind of attention to detail is what we loved about Jane and her team.
We used Jane Hammond for our wedding reception at Dogpatch Studios in July of 2007. They were fabulous and helped us create our vision - which was unique and different. It is refreshing to work with Jane and her staff and know that you are in good hands as they support you to make your dream a reality.
The food at our event was SO GOOD. Every single person continues (2 years later) to talk about the food we had and how good it was. The staff that worked the party were wonderful and JHE helped mitigate the terrible experience we had with Terry and Dogpatch Studios who only wanted to gouge us for more money and be difficult to work with.
If you are looking for a caterer - check out Jane Hammond Events. You will not regret working with them.
We just attended another wedding reception done by Jane Hammond and I was so excited to go, just to eat the food. This was vegetarian and delicious! Go Jane Hammond!
OK, so I didnt actually use her, but 5 stars for the following:
1) she told me all about managing the bride machine of SF
2) she contacted me within 30 minutes of my inquiry email.
Sample menus look fabulous. I'm sure anyone will be in good hands w her.
I hired Jane Hammond Events for my company's 25th anniversary celebration and am so glad I did. Because of the economy we were working under a tight budget and JHE was the only caterer flexible enough to work with me on every aspect of their proposal. I quickly chose them and Naomi worked with me every step of the way. She came to the site with me and helped map out the event, worked with the rentals and dealt with my millions of calls.
Their food was amazing and all of our guests loved it. The staff incredibly friendly and nice. If ever we plan another event I am going with JHE.
I have worked with Jane Hammond for my company's events in 2007 and 2008. The first was at the SF MOMA for 550 guests and this year was at the Exploratorium for 700 guests.
Last year I spoke with several event planners and Jane Hammond Events quickly stood out. They were responsive, flexible, had good prices, and aimed to please. I decided to hire them and it was the right decision! This year I didn't even consider talking to anyone else about our party.
Jane and her crew are amazing. I have very high expectations, and they exceeded each and every one. They helped with everything - picking the venue, selecting colors and decor, customizing the menu and drinks, etc, etc. Jane herself even jumped in to help register our guests when the registration staff needed some extra help.
Trust me - Jane Hammond Events is a company you want to use. Just say what you want, and trust them to make it happen. I plan on using them again!
We've had Jane Hammond events for a few of our events at work. I haven't met Jane, but what I love the most about her team is how accommodating they are. We had to make two changes within 48 hours of our event, and they didn't show any stress or frustration (as other places do!)
They are definitely professional and prepared. Our guests loved the food and they always say they bring more than enough! - How can you go wrong with that?
Jane Hammond Events catered my wedding reception at the Asian Art Museum, and I could not have been more pleased. As background, I had interviewed several wedding planners, and all of them seemed to be pressuring me towards a higher and higher budget for the event...I actually felt a bit embarrassed by what had been my original budget figure. When I met with Jane, the difference was night and day. She assured me that they could make that budget work and that she understands how expensive weddings can be. She instantly put me at ease.
Though Jane is a caterer, not a wedding planner per se, she and her team know the wedding vendors in the Bay Area and they were all very helpful with recommendations throughout. Jane and her team also know the reception venues in SF really well. The Asian Art Museum is a particularly difficult space, since they only have one small warming kitchen and elevator to Samsung Hall. I was impressed that Jane always had her eye on practical details. She knows about how to put on a beautiful event under considerable time pressure. In addition to the food, Jane and her team also arranged for a string duo for cocktail hour, as well as coordinating lighting and A/V issues.
Now a word about the food. Wow! I heard from several guests later that it was the best food they have ever had at a wedding. We had lamb and an eggplant vegetarian dish. Both were outstanding in their own right. The vegetarian dish in no way played second fiddle...it was remarkable.
Lastly, Jane made sure that the events during the reception all happened at the right time. When my husband and I walked into the museum from the ceremony, Jane was there asking if she could bring us a drink. When it was time to cut the cake, Jane came and found me. Everything ran on time and smoothly. As we left, Jane and her team presented us with a take-away bag full of food, which we enjoyed the next day as we packed for our honeymoon. Jane and her staff were all incredibly attentive, detail-oriented, and nice to work with.
You will be in excellent hands with Jane Hammond Events!
We worked with Jane Hammond Events to put on the most important event of our lives - our wedding! The wedding ceremony and reception took place at the LIMN Gallery in San Francisco. Jane and her team were fabulous to work with and were great at alleviating our concerns. They are extremely professional and experienced. Everything came together wonderfully on the day of the wedding and we were able to enjoy it without having to worry about anything!
