Review from Mary Kay S.
Washington, DC
I still love Dr. Simon. My appointment today was for an annual exam, plus I had some health issues I wanted to discuss with him.
I began my appointment right on time. An assistant took my vitals, and I waited a short while for Dr. Simon himself. I gave him a full run-down of my health concerns without any sense of being rushed, and (best of all), he had some great advice to give me.
The exam itself was painless and quick, and as relaxed as ever.
Thanks Dr. S!Listed in: Body Bidness

Review from Nell F.
Washington, DC
Mary Kay's description of Dr. Simon is spot-on.
After my pap smear results showed what looked like precancerous cells, my internist told me I needed to see a gynecologist for a colposcopy. I was initially frustrated that most GYNs had waits longer than a month for appointments. Dr. Simon's office was able to schedule me for an appointment within a week. Carol Mack, a nurse practitioner in that office, met with me initially and explained the pap smear results and the colposcopy procedure. She was down-to-earth, informative, and supportive. I had the procedure about a week later and met Dr. Simon. I tend to prefer female doctors for below-the-belt exams, but I was comfortable with Dr. Simon almost instantly. I was already in stirrups when he came in the room, but he made a point of introducing himself and apologizing for meeting me "this way." He has a gentle, low-key, professional bedside manner.
Since then, I've gone to Carol Mack at Dr. Simon's office for anything GYN-related. I've gotten good medical care from her. I really appreciate that she'll call in prescriptions for yeast infections.
Two misc. things: The practice doesn't participate with most insurance plans, and Dr. Simon also does reproductive endocrinology. -

DISCLOSURE: I saw Lucy Treene, the PA in Dr. Simon's office. I did not see Dr. Simon.
I saw Lucy Treene when I first started experiencing pelvic pain last February. I have to say that she is an incredibly kind and friendly person as well as a good listener. But when it comes to medical care, I can't say that she's someone I would recommend. I certainly think PA's can provide great medical care, but unfortunately my experience with Lucy Treene was that she has pelvic pain tunnel vision. I did indeed come to her with pelvic pain, but I had also had a very bad fall right before it started. After trying a range of treatments, she seemed hesitant to explore non-gynecological causes (i.e. by sending me to a different specialist). I also felt that she was a little too cavalier when prescribing very strong medicines and allowed me to stay on them too long (with bad side effects) before switching me to something else.
So, to keep this short:
Positive: Lucy is a very sweet, kind, and caring person
Negatives: I'm not sure how good she is with differential diagnosis -

I never ended up seeing Dr. Simon because of my poor experience trying to make an appointment. I was put on hold repeatedly and when I finally spoke to reception was treated rudely.
