Had my first cut there today.  A WONDERFUL experience.  It has the feel of a speakeasy, hidden within an office building, with a very personal staff of 3, and a chihuahua.  Decorated like a high-class spa, but with a cozy and friendly vibe.  As soon as I arrived, they offered me a glass of wine, and said next time I come I should call ahead and tell them exactly what kind of wine I would like them to have ready for me!

The service was phenomenal.  James had cancelled my previous appointment because of illness, and to make up for it he gave me a brilliant hour-long complimentary treatment.  Then he and his stylist, Jen, gave me a great consultation about why my hair is so weak and flat, with lots of suggestions and personal attention.  Jen gave me a fabulous cut, truly turned my dead drab hair around.

And while I can't attest for James' coloring skills (apparently he's quite famous), he does give a fabulous head massage.

It was a delight, I recommend it to all.

I had my hair done this weekend for a wedding by a lovely girl named Danielle. James came over to introduce himself to me and was super-friendly. I loved my hair, it was so perfect several people asked me if it was fake. "Fake? How could it be fake? No, it's real, thank-you-very-much." That's just how good it was. Diego the Chihuahua is a lovely touch, made me feel right at home and miss my own Chihuahua. Great locale in Union Square, super cute little tucked-away location makes you feel like you've found a rare gem in the city. My only regret is that I couldn't stay in NYC longer and have my hair cut and colored too. Next time I'm there, I'll be sure to visit. The made-to-order tea also soothed a made-to-order hangover from the night before. Would definately reccomend this place to a friend, or to you, Stranger! Oh, an in case you're wondering, it was $159 for my updo. But well worth the price. I'm sure fake hair costs a lot more.

Specialties

The James Corbett Studio is an Asian-inspired oasis away from the hustle and bustle of New York City.  Often referred to as a "hidden gem" the hair studio includes a small personal staff  to handle your beauty needs.  Corbett, who has trained at Warren Tricomi and Peter Coppola, meticulously handles each color client himself.  As part of Corbett's color service, he helps each woman determine the best hair color based on skin tone, eye color and lifestyle.  Corbett is insistent on minimizing damage that can result from the dying process so he often uses a hair color instead of bleach for highlights.  Every hair treatment comes with a complimentary blow out and styling.

Recently added The Spa at the James Corbett Studio features massage treatments, organic manicure and pedicure, wax services, facials as well as yoga and meditation classes.  These expanded services will allow busy NYC clients to take care of all their beauty needs at one time.
