- reasonably priced
- VERY tasty
- healthy
- great service

I was introduced to Jamba Juice in Chicago by my uncle many years ago. And I have been obsessed with it since. No other smoothie joint comes close. Jamba juice makes all their smoothes fresh with REAL fruit and yogurt and juice. The smoothie is actually smooth and not filled with giant chunks of ice or fruit or anything annoying like that. It's reasonably priced and very healthy for you. Good to have as a to-go breakfast to get you going for the day! And the people there are really, really nice. I could eat it every day if my finances allowed! :D
AND I just discovered that this location opened up which is MUCH closer to me than the campus location. Except now I have to convince myself not to go every morning before school. :o(

Also, yeah. that whole area is a mess and the person who designed it must've been on crack. I KNEW where it was, but it took me forever to get there.

I just read about the super sekrit menu and I am definitely trying out Sour Pathc Kids- one of my favorite candies ever! :DD

Mmmmmm.....two visits in two days.  I'm kinda hooked.  It smells so nice in here.

I've been avoiding the Peanut Butter Moo'd, only because it's 840 calories!  But last night I dreamed about it.  I may have to bite the bullet and put on my fatty stretch pants and get this baby in my belly.

I did ask them for one of the "secret menu" items, the pink star.  It really does taste exactly like pink starbursts.  Plus the cashier didn't look at me like I was crazy.  He gave me this sly smile like I was "in."

Seriously good smoothies.

Years ago, back in the evil empire, I used to get a Jamba Juice smoothie just about every morning before work. I'd mix it up, trying various different combinations of fruity bliss, mixing in an occassional shot of wheat grass when I had a wild hair...errr, blade of grass, up my....well, you know.

So it had been quite a while since I had last indulged, and yesterday in between bouts of yard work and on a trip to Lowe's, all I could think about was a cold, fruity smoothie. The problem was, I wasn't sure where there was a smoothie joint in the area. So I pull up Yelp on the cell phone, punch in the zip code and "smoothie", and BOOMSIE! There was a new Jamba Juice across the street from where I was. Sweet.

Quick tangent - it's next to Zen in the new Sunset Valley development, and that place has a RETARDED entry/exit set up. No offense to any of you who rode the short yellow bus, but I'm guessing your faculties are a step or two above this set up. This rant is mostly due to the Brodie entry/exit being closed yesterday, but it's poorly designed regardless.

Back to the smoothies! Mango-a-GoGo was excellent, Acai-something-or-other started off a little odd (probably because I tried the mango first), but finished up nicely, and they split up a classic Citrus Squeeze for the kids - fun for everyone! The prices have gone up over the years, but if I'm paying $4+ for a non-alcoholic drink, it might as well cover a food group or two, with vitamins and anti-oxidants rather than just coffee (don't get me wrong, I dig coffee. Just saying...). The two guys in there were friendly and smiling, and the smoothies hit the spot...a lovely little diversion before diving. back. into. the. yard. work.

Jamba Juice is the new Starbucks . . . or the new breakfast taco, I'm not sure. All I know is that most mornings, I wake up craving their sweet smoothies. Definitely a healthier option for my weekend mornings. But now I have found myself waking up extra early during the week hoping to make it by Jamba Juice on my way to work. (This is how I know I have a problem.)

I really don't eat as much fruit as I should, so this is an easy way for me to eat a balanced diet. And speaking of diet, they have a low calorie menu (under 200 for a 16 oz).

Jamba Juice and I have had a relationship for quite sometime now, but yesterday we took it to a new level when a family member of mine told me about their secret menu. These conclude concoktions called White Gummy Bear, Pink Starburst, Sour Patch Kids, Red Gummy Bear...and many more. Being skeptical I researched this on the internet to see if there were message boards or blogs written about this before I went and made a complete fool of myself at the counter. Sure enough, people varified that the secret/retired menu exist.

So I took a risk and ordered the White Gummy Bear and my friend ordered the Pink Star a.k.a Starburst, and the girl at the counter totally knew what we were talking about. I told her that I had read about a few more types and she told me that she had heard of a few of them but they didn't know how to make them all. And just in case your wondering why this secret menu exist, it's because these particular flavors are not exactly the healthiest blends and since they promote themselves on the healthy food market it wouldn't look too good.

Nonetheless, the Pink Star tasted just like the candy itself, and the White Gummy Bear was so damn amazing. You can bet that Sour Patch Kids is next on my list. Oh man, Jamba Juice will you marry me?

Wonders never cease...Jamba Juice has replaced Starbucks in my daily obsession!  I'm not some big health nut but I love "treating" myself to a smoothie, especially after a workout.  I'm also doing Weight Watchers and am delighted to know that I can get a flavorful, nice-sized smoothie here for 2 points (any 16-oz from their Lite menu).  Since I have a young daughter who attends preschool, I also appreciate the free immunity boost you can add to your smoothie.

They're also doing this cool breakfast promotion encouraging you to eat a healthy breakfast for 21 days (and therefore make it a habit).  If you register and log your 21 breakfasts, you can win free personal training for a whole year!  Check it out here if you're interested:  http://www.jambabreakf...
