Review from Janene H.
While visiting Port Richey we decided to try something different. The place wasn't crowded, which was probably a bad sign. I'm all about supporting the little guy so we stopped anyway. I expected something more like fast food but inside there are tables like a sit-down place and the decor is cabin-like. Our server was friendly and efficient and explained that everything was home-made.
We ordered a variety of food that was ready within minutes. On retrospect I guess that was a bad sign too, meaning the food is probably sitting somewhere in back always hot and ready to go but not prepared fresh. In fact I originally ordered the stuffing but was told they were out. On a Saturday afternoon?
The food was just OK. The cornbread comes out looking like a crab cake with an apple butter that was a bland. My sweet potatoes were jelly-like, the beans are made with a little too much ketchup for my liking and the baked chicken serving was quite small. I sampled the meatloaf, which was tasty and the mac n' cheese which tasted the best of the bunch. The tea was good and was served in big mason jars which was a cute touch.
The real trouble started later that night. My companion who had eaten a large serving of meatloaf woke up at 12:30am sick to his stomach and ended up throwing up. Food poisoning? I'm highly suspicious. I felt fine and we had brought home some food from Jakob's Cabin and no one else felt sick. So I can't be sure but I won't be going back.
