Jaja's is one of my utmost favorite Thai places in the universe, and I'm devastated its located in the middle-of-no-where Collierville. The restaurant exterior itself is a part of a seemingly abandoned building under a water tower.

The service is a little slow, but only because every dish is custom-made to order.

The yellow curry perfect. I'll join the masses in declaring the eggrolls a delight. And their coconut gelato? A weird thing to find at a Thai restaurant, but oh so delicious.

If the location were more convenient, I'd find myself there every afternoon for some gelato and every evening for an eggroll and plate of food.

I've heard a ton of high praise for Jaja's, a tiny Thai restaurant tucked into the corner of a shopping center near the Collierville town square. When I say "tucked into a corner", I mean it - it took three trips around the block to find the restaurant.

I ordered a Thai egg roll and some masaman curry. The egg roll was oddly long and skinny, but it was stuffed with noodles and veggies. It came with sweet chili sauce and peanut sauce.

The masaman curry was a little different than any I'd ever tried before. It smelled amazing - all spices, sweetness and cilantro.  The sauce was a thinner than the usual coconut milk-based curry. The thin-sliced beef was tender, and the bite-sized potatoes were soft. Everything was fresh and homemade.

When I walked into Jaja's, I was confronted with a veritable wall of fake flowers, plants and Buddhas. The restaurant was dark and a TV in the corner played "Days of Our Lives".  The atmosphere is casual and family friendly, and the service is fast and efficient.

Yummy yummy Thai food, home-cooked to perfection and served fresh and piping hot.  The pad thai was delectable and the egg rolls were to die for.  Customer service was excellent with the cook herself coming out to greet guests and urge them to come back

The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is because they are located in a seedy/scary strip mall with a funeral parlor across the street.  But since it is in Collierville, the location didn't scare us off.

Will most likely be visiting again soon.

This is maybe the only place I know of to get authentic Thia food in this area, and I just love it.

Like Jan G. said, I do wish it wasn't way out in Collierville, although I'm sure those who live out there aren't complaining. But when the mood for Thai strikes, I don't mind the drive.

The egg rolls are amazing. Very crispy and light with the perfect combination of veggies inside and served piping hot with a medley of sauces that are simply delicious. I CRAVE these egg rolls, people. None can compare.

I also sing the praises of the Pad Thai and all their curry dishes. Be careful on the curries though if you are sensitive to spicy foods. They can be a bit hot. But that's what I like about them.

The primary waitress there is Diana. She is a trip - funny and very nice. Her mom is the talent in the kitchen.

Note - this is not a place for a late dinner.  They close at 8.

Rave reviews about the Jaja's River Kwai restaurant prompted us to dine there.
The location is an odd one. I would have never suspected to have a Thai restaurant there. It is an authentic family-run venture. They offer a nice selection of Thai dishes. There is a Thai decor inside including the Thai King's portrait.

    The following was ordered:
Thai rolls had a pleasant texture. Dipping sauces were all right
Massaman curry was all right: sweet  with perfectly cooked peanuts.
Green beef curry was salty and greasy to my great surprise. Green curries I have had were light crisp.
Chicken and fries were all right as well.

Overall the experience was positive, but not as good as at now closed Sawahdii Thai Cuisine.

Better food than Bangkok Alley, IMHO.

You can tell this food is lovingly prepared, and is served just like the chef would probably serve it at home.  Wonderful flavor, fresh ingredients, and just really yummy all around.

Tom kha gai (chicken/coconut soup) is super-thick and delicious-- no lite coconut milk here, yo.  Love it.

The sum tom (green papaya salad) is spicy, even if you ask for it mild; but it's not that lingering kind of hell fire; it's a nice heat.

The beef salad is exceptional; nice beef slices, wonderful balance of flavors.  Yay!

The chicken pad thai is tasty, too... nothing out of the world exceptional, but definitely solid and good.

There is a very happy, familial vibe in the restaurant.  You instantly feel welcome and warm, and you're greeted like an old friend.  I love that.  They also feature some Thai gifts for sale in the front of the restaurant.

Only disappointments:  I couldn't get extra lemongrass on my beef salad, as they don't have fresh lemongrass as an ingredient (it is hard to find, so I understand...).  Also, sadly, they don't offer mango with sticky rice, but hey, I'll get over it.

I found it interesting that they have a kids menu that features standard American fare (burgers, pizza, etc.) so if your kids are picky eaters, you don't have to suffer.  :-)

    Give these folks your business!

When I moved to Collierville about ten years ago, the one thing I consistently heard from locals was 'egg rolls at Ja-Ja's... just try one'

So we found the place one afternoon - just off the Collierville square in an older strip mall complete with a barber shop.  The restaurant is family owned with Ja Ja cooking everything up fresh in the kitchen while her daughter and husband wait on tables.

Believe them when they tell you that 90% of the reason they are in business is because of their egg rolls.  Holy cow - are they the best ever.  Seriously, I wake up in the middle of the night sometimes craving those things.  The rolls are thin and long with pork, noodles, cabbage, onion, and other spices.  Definitely order a 'six pack' when you go in.

The other dishes are just as great - the pad thai has fresh cilantro and sprouts on top of the stir fried noodles.  You can order the dish with chicken, beef, or shrimp, but I normally opt for an extra egg on top.

One warning - because everything is cooked to order, you may have a wait - but it is well worth it.

I will definitely miss this place when I move to DC in the spring :(

This place is great! The egg rolls are nearly perfect...fresh ingredients on the inside and a light, crispy and flaky casing on the outside. Atmosphere is casual and relaxed, the menu is simple and its the only Thai place I've ever been whose "Thai Spicy" actually made my nose run a little bit. Very Good!

Jaja's has the best thai food in Memphis that I've been able to find. Though your order may take a little longer, everything is made to order and very fresh. It's a family owned restaurant. I highly recommend the spring rolls and the pad thai. They are both phenomenal!
